Bullshit (cough cough). Racism is not a localized phenomenon existing solely in a Boston sporting arena. Racism does exist in America, but it is a systemic problem. If the best example someone can provide for racism is fans rooting for local black athletes and disliking a visiting black athlete, then they are not identifying true racism. The problem of racism pertains to the labor market, voting, and prison systems. It's not a problem of a drunk fan who loves Jaylen Brown and doesn't like LeBron. Perhaps, LeBron just does not like being heckled by Boston fans. It was in poor taste for him to appeal to racism to explain fans who don't like him. He is trivializing real systemic racism. The examples he gives, having a beer thrown at him and a t-shirt that says "f LeBron", are impolite, but it's wrong to conflate dislike of a rival player with racism. If he is truly upset about racism, why is he not speaking out against his former team, the Miami heat, located in a state with the most black voter suppression laws in the books. He is not speaking out against the Heat because he won a championship there. He is presenting a double standard.

These players deserve a peaceful environment without profanity and derogatory language directed towards them. Players vs players have their own relationship, the fans do not have the right to interfere with the game in a negative way. I don’t care if you pay $10,000 for a seat to watch the game, you are to sit down, witness the sport and celebrate. If you’re upset, keep that to yourself, or leave the arena. Once you’ve behaved in a negative and interruptive manner effecting fellow ticket holders, you’ve lost your privileges as a guest. Have respect for your fellow guests of all ages as well as the athletes, by behaving in a respectful manner. Nobody paid to watch you, they are there for the players.

Enough players have said it that it must be a thing. However, this segment is pretty weak. Bringing up that Boston fans were swearing at Draymond does not add to the argument. Nor do shirts saying F*** Lebron. Saying you shouldn’t swear at players is a different story altogether from saying racism has no place in sports. Also, Celts fans had plenty of reasons to be pissed at Kyrie that had nothing to do with race. Now, if fans made their criticism of Kyrie racist, that’s obviously messed up. However, if you’re producing this segment, you need to come up with better examples. Don’t be lazy reporters
