You should make a video how to bring your new horse home, what type of horse that you should look for, if you're a beginner, intermediate, advanced rider. What's A good price on getting your first horse.
been wanting a horse since i was 3, today i am 14 and getting my first horse next summer. keep trying, try proving to them you can do it. I convinced my dad by making a chart with everything it needs and the cost. I told him i would pay for it all if he let me get one. I make money by doing chores, mowing law, and ssaving on bday and christmas, in two years i had over a 1000. keep trying one day you will get there.
I don’t even know how old I was when I started loving horses, and I love taking care of them! Most people don’t like it, but I love it. Anyway the point is I understand how you feel
Or... your dad has way enough money but hes lazy and im only home 4 days in a week after school and in vacations all day. If i was home everyday after school, it would make everything so much easier... :/ I dont have my own horse though. Sadly.
The first thing you can look at is what kind of horse you want, a sweet horse, a horse that listens good to you, do you want a challenge, if you want a challenge i would take a fjord, i wanna have a fjord because i like a challenge, i like fjord horses way more than other horses. So i hope you can do something with my advice
This was really helpful! I'm very lucky that my parents cover Monty's expenses, but next year when I turn 18 years old I'm going to try and pay for his rent 💰
I really want Claire to do a video on her full daily routine with her horses, how she feeds, takes care of them, bathes them, and how she fully tacks up and warms up.
Claire Eventing, you are so knowledgeable about horses and I like how you share your experience with all of us horse lovers. You are such an accomplished horse woman. Thank you so much for your advice. Keep your videos coming. I am learning so much. I had a close friend of mine who passed away last December .We'd talk about her horse all the time, I miss her dearly, so it's nice to have you to watch and learn about horse care. Thank you again. 🏇🏇🏇🐎🐎🐎
{Pluto!} - - MSP it’s like that for me too and I am paying for horse lessons and all they have to do is drive my there and back if they won’t then ask a friend, if you feel the need to ride horses then you will do it even if it is by yourself
A caution for new/future horse owners: don't buy half pads to compensate for an ill-fitting saddle, because once you've damaged the horses back you'll end up paying hundreds to rehabilitate the horse. Hire a fitter, it'll save money in the long term, and your horse will thank you. (They won't thank you though bc they're ungrateful 🙂)
This video is great! I’m fourteen years old and am going to get my own horse in the next year! I have a job of my own and can afford to pay my own board. My mom has agreed to pay for the actual horse after seeing how dedicated I’ve been to the process of working to afford this! Im so excited!
I am also fourteen and am just beginning to work as a showjumping photographer this week. I am setting up my business based upon my friend Kasey’s recommendations. She is a professional show jumper, and works with a rescued racehorse. I groom and muck her and her friend’s horses every day, and will begin to ride a gelding named Mickey once my helmet arrives. All of the money that I earn will be saved for a horse, it’s board, and care, and I plan to be able to make around $500 per competition. My payment will be donation-based, though, in order to allow riders on a budget to afford a high-quality photo of their favourite show highlights. In any case, I am very excited to learn how much I am capable of making, and whether that amount can properly support a rescued thoroughbred’s full care and training. Good luck with finding your horse, and I wish you an unbreakable bond
I'm binge watching all of Claire's videos because I can't ride my horse since right now my knee is messed up 😭. Thank you so much Claire for helping me keep my sanity

My first horse I got I still have today ! It depends what level you are at if you are a beginner I suggest cobs most of them are bomb proof (not litterally)😂 I have a Friesian but I had to ride for 7+ years before I got her and I trained her for 2 years before I got her she’s still crazy but I love herrrr
Summer Oneil I’m 25 but I injured my hips so I like Tennessee walkers. They’re gated so they’re a smooth ride. Some other breeds can be gated too but I personally love TWH ❤️🐴
This isn't completely "FIRST HORSE" related but "NEW RIDER" you should do a basic facts video or video list! (Horse colors, horse markings, breeds, disciplines!) I hope you do these video ideas! Thx 4 reading! :)
im in the start off 8 and this helped me i saved ur vid so when ill get older ill see it if i get a horse rn i just go to horse training school pretty expensive but worth it thx for the tips ! love ur vids btw
I am unfortunately 12 so I can not get a job, my horse stays at a private livery so I cant muck out or feed or water any one elses horse as they do it themselves but I am planning on asking for money or stuff for my horse on my birthday or Christmas
Well do extra chores in the house and when your 13 or 14 start babysitting and get the money and rake leaves for people and shovel driveways i know you can do it
Unnamed User I feel ya. I'm 11 (friend is 12) but I don't get paid for chores :/ People aren't very friendly. You might be able to sell some school supplies!
I am thirteen and I have managed my own pet care for a few years now. I make quite a large sum of money and am busy nearly every month with some sort of job. You just have to be creative and find what you like to do. I recommend doing jobs in your community especially ones where you can either walk or ride a bike to do so you don't have to bother your parents. It's really the art of saving. It's hard to not give in but you can do it.
You’re not ugly. You’re adorable. I love your dogs(background entertainment) Great video. I’m 50+ and love horses but I am clueless as to if I can actually have one.
My first sort of lease was when I rode my 4-h leaders horse for free because I worked at her her barn and I rode her horse in my first show and I worked so hard with him until he was in good condition. He is now a little too old and bony and lame to be ridden (I still love him and he’s adorable he’s my baby ❤️)
This video was so so helpful thanks so much. I’m saving up for a horse and all it’s stuff and I’m going to use all y, money to help pay for monthly costs and my parents are going to help, and rather then getting Christmas and birthday presents the money usually put towards that is going to be put towards the horse.
thank you so much for this video It was a message from god cause ive been wanting a horse but i want to know how to affrod a horse and this popped up on my computer thank you
I have 1 job at the barn I work at where I work every Friday cleaning out stalls. 5 dollars for each stall with 400 now in the bank. If I had a 2nd job or even more work assigned at the barn I would defiantly have enough. I'm 16 and going to be graduating when I'm 20 or 21 and I'd need another job if I want a car and house. Everyone in my family is poor so askimg them for help won't really help😂 but my grandma might help with money and horse stuff in the adic and maybe my aunt might have left over tack.
Claire I am looking at this pony who is perfect for me. But she will need to travel from Ireland to Scotland (maybe about 4-5 hours) but she is £2500 and I don’t have that much but I want to feel responsible and like I earned her instead of saying to my parents buy me this pony. My brother does a very expensive sport as well and he does it competitively so that is also a big expense. I really fell in love with this horse when I saw her she is called cappuccino. The worse thing is tho I am 12 so I can’t get a job at any of my barns. And I hardly have any expensive stuff to sell to make £2500 by selling stuff I would need to sell everything I own. My brother on the other hand has mountain bikes worth £3000 so he can easily get the money. I am going to ask my family if they can pitch in like my granny and grandparent. Anyways sorry for rambling I just need ways to make money. Btw I love u and all your horses 🐴❤️💝💝💞💓💗💗💖💖💖💕❣️💖💖💗💗
Thank you so much! I love horses so much! I’m hoping to get one! But they are a lot of money. With time and work dreaming and hope I’m sure I can make my dream come true! 💕
Had family friend that obsessed about horses. She moved around with husbands job. She volunteered at stables where she could “exercise horses, riding” worked out for her, stable and horse owners.
This really helped :) I am really good at saving, all my money already goes to my pony, my parents still cover his lease fee since I don't have a legal job, but I do pay for my own lessons, and have been since I was 12. I wanted to lease a horse for university, and I didn't think that I could do it, but now I have some hope.
I'm sure you know this but riding is actually recommended for horses who stock up as standing in stalls for long periods is what causes them to stock up in the first place. Exercise or turnout will help the swelling go down. Now if the leg is swollen for other reasons its a different story.
Another tip is to befriend and get to know alot of people. Dentists, vets, bodyworkers, farriers, trianers, people who can get you discounts, other horse people, etc. My barn owner/manager (or whatever it is called in english) got the dentist to come check her new horse. And even though he was not in the area at the time, because they're good friends, he made an exeption. Also do things for other people so they are more inclined to help you or they have to return the favor. Invest in things that always get you money. So save some money and buy a small apartment or a parking garage or something like that and rent it out. Or if you eventually own some stables or a riding arena, rent those out. learn to do things that'll always get you work. Translating, marketing, writing, programming, administration.
you made a great point I have been looking into buying 2 horses im in the middle of buying 12 acres of land im reading books and trying to research about horses but its like there are so many recommendations to get all of these horse items I want them to have the best but is there a way to narrow it down to the basic things what I was thinking to do is collect everything I need before I get the horses so that includes the stable, feeders , supplements first aid and also I was thinking to stock up on hay and bedding what would you recommend
Thanks for the tips! I love horses, and look forward to having my own one day. Your channle is so helpful and awesome. What was the name of that music at the end? It was beautiful.
Ahhhh I finally persuaded my parents to get me a horse. I’ve been leasing for over 5 years and I do barrel racing. I’ve never gotten much opportunity when I leased. So we decided it’s time to take the next step! We looked at one last weekend and it went well but we are seeing him again. We are not sure if he is the one yet but I hope he is. 😫😫
@@annalu3041 omg!! I bought him!! I still have him and ive gone to multiple barrel races!! We even placed at state this summer and won $800!! Lol!! His name is kernel and my mom just adores him. :)))))
@@funnyeditedvideos1084 OMG YAYYY! IM SO HAPPY FOR U! HE SEEMS LIKE SUCH A GREAT HORSE! my mom said we can MAYBE talk to my trainer about leasing a horse!! (We need to wait until the end of the year cuz my barn is in a legal thingy with the land owners (since they rent the land) it’s a big story. Anyways, so glad u got kernel!
All you horsey equestrians out there I have a question so I'm finally allowed a horse we have actually been searching for months and months but I finally got the thumbs up a week ago so the budget was 5,000 but before I was even allowed a horse I spotted a mare who sounded perfect and was labelled a great first horse so we spoke to the owners and she's 7,500 should we check her out or stick to our budget ?
Annie G Depends on where you live, because where I live, $7500 are great upper intermediate level horses. Also good first horses where I live are around 1000-2000, so make sure she REALLY is worth it.
EquineLove._. 2121 check her out. Ride her. Then if she is truly perfect then go for it but don't stop looking keep looking until you meet a horse that is like love at first sight
Ok I told my mom about the ideas and she didn’t listen…she cut me off and just said no in a whole bunch of different ways. I really wish I had a horse and had the privilege of having a horse. Even though it’s been 13 years since I’ve wanted a horse and have never gotten one I would never give up.I try every day to show my mom that I’m actually desperate to own a horse and responsible enough to own one. But she doesn’t bother to listen when I tell her something related to horses. But nevertheless I would never ever think to give up my dream to own a horse.
The dogs went away. Hey Claire, my parents don't give a shit what I do because I'm 49. LOL. I'm having a pasture cleared this week. Doing a fence and Little barn. ( Just a roof) next month. I was going to let someone keep their horse there and I'll help them for 90 days before I look for my own
my dads a doctor {specifically a kidney doctor} and honestly, I rlly worry that I’m like draining from my parents, and I’ve asked them so many times if I am..but they say I’m not, and Ik I’m not bc ik just around how much money my dad makes, but like I still wanna save money in lessons bc I feel bad lolol, so tysm for all the tips Claire!!! ILYSM♥︎🐎🥑
I know this is an old vid but I just wanted to say that I have already donlowed the app u suggested and I'm looking for a loan in my area, so I will use this app to plan out my whole budget. x

Well, where I live in Canada just owning a acre will cost you 10,000$ per yearly for just your property tax.

When my friends ask me what I want for my birthday or Christmas presents I aways say a gift card to tractor supplies😂
For 18 you are extremely bright young lady. As always very informative.
Wonderful tips! I often find previously broken in saddles more comfortable. Also I find that older western saddles (used) can be a higher quality.

Honestly buying the horse is the cheapest part😂 paying for the upkeep of the horse is really hard

Please talk about the best horse breed to buy for a first horse
Vanessa Berrios I like quarter horses🙂 (depending on what you do) They just have such an amazing attitude and most of them are easy to ride
Late but it all depends on the horse!
I like OTTBs, but it depends on everything about them... many aren’t junior or beginner safe
Honestly depends.
The very first horse I rode for lessons was a thoroughbred.
As a beginner I rode thoroughbreds, Arabians, and ponies.
My first horse I got I still have today !
It’s been a year sinc eu made this comment . How did it go!
Anyways, so glad u got kernel!
this helped me so much thank you! now my parents might let me get a horse!
Where do people usually get their horses?
omg thank you so much for the vid claire your the best :D
Are you related to Joey Graceffa? Just asking not meant to be rude or pick on you or anything like that! :3
Hi im felicity im new here this was really helpful thank you for making this vid
Annie G go see her, and see if you can ride her. If you like her, make shure she is REALLY worth $7,500. If she is get her. If she is not, then don't.
Annie G if you ride her and like her the see how low they are willing to go
Annie G Depends on where you live, because where I live, $7500 are great upper intermediate level horses. Also good first horses where I live are around 1000-2000, so make sure she REALLY is worth it.
Completleysparky thx so much im checking her out on Friday
I was going to let someone keep their horse there and I'll help them for 90 days before I look for my own
I will use this but for cattle showing.
my dads a doctor {specifically a kidney doctor} and honestly, I rlly worry that I’m like draining from my parents, and I’ve asked them so many times if I am..but they say I’m not, and Ik I’m not bc ik just around how much money my dad makes, but like I still wanna save money in lessons bc I feel bad lolol, so tysm for all the tips Claire!!! ILYSM♥︎🐎🥑
