No other drummer before or since has encompassed so many unique characteristics in ONE drummer. The sound, the right foot, his speed, his timing, technique, dynamics, power, insatiable Groove, signature triplets, musicality, and finesse. He was the all- around drummer. He could fit into an R&B / Funk or Metal band just the same. He knew when to get on top and when to let the music breathe, giving it space. I've been listening to him since I was 14. It didn't take me long, even as a kid to know what he was all about. Everyone who loves Bonham knows what's up. We all love him for similar reasons.

I keep coming back to this clip.. Jesus, there’s enough here to keep a guy like me shedding this material for the next several years. Wonderful wonderful stuff George.
George is obviously a brilliant player. Thank you for your online mentorship. For me, I keep going back to Bonzo because of how interesting his playing still is. There is a jazz accessibility to it, a swing, but with a rock and roll punch to the nose.
Bonham had “ Them All” in there in his style. If you listen to Joe Morello’s solo in a live Take Five recording circa ‘59-61, you can see and hear Joe doing some of the famous snare/ tom bass drum rolls that Baker and Bonham used. Like you mentioned in another video, Bernard’s shuffle as well. BR, GK, LB, etc seem to be in his playing. Bonham marked an epoch in drumming history and his groove is the best in rock. Thanks for sharing and great work on the style. Precision with finesse.
Beautiful, tasteful written and musical tribute to a much loved and much missed artist. Thank you. I agree, he did seem older in terms of his presence and skills. Other times, particularly in the Roy Carr and Australia 72 interviews, you realize how young he was, how short a time he was here, but what a mighty legacy he left.
Couldn't agree more with your message here about his technicality and ability. He was a master. Turns out he could hit hard when he needed to as well, which also takes technique. He's a beast, but he had the chops too. This is always a special day for me as Bonzo and I share a birthday. Happy Birthday John Henry Bonham!
Great playing and tribute George. 75, unbelievable! Bonzo always has been and will be an endless source of inspiration. Thanks for all your videos. ✌❤🥁
Brilliant. Your and Bonzo’s jazz influences shine through. Your lesson in Bonzo rudiments just fantastic. A beautiful tribute to Bonzo in your comments too. Thanks George !! 🥁🏴🥁
Nice little lesson on the 9-note group. Talk about laying down the heat.... really love that run from about 5:25-6:05... I mean, come on, I could listen to that stuff all day!!!
Moby Dick RAH part 2 and this video, are the videos that I keep practicing to the most because I really enjoy the feel of these. I usually slow the vid down to learn the sticking changes and when to nail the accents. Thank you George!
Happy birthday John Bonham..I like the little tribute you wrote up here and how you used the opportunity to counter his jealous contemporaries, oops, I meant his 'critics' Thanks as well for demonstrating rudiments like the six-stroke, Bonzo style.
OK I had to pick my jaw up off the floor before I could comment George those drums sounded like a thunder storm moving in over the house those gold sparkles are Hammer of the Gods,oh and you did pretty good also. Lol.
More years dead than alive. How time flies... I can't agree with you more on GB's ridiculous comment about Bonzo. Same goes for Eric Clapton who didn't even want to put him on the same league with GB, emphatically denying that when asked. Ageing doesn't always come with maturity. One more great video George, thank you!
It's a bit hard to tell from the videos, but I believe he used it somewhat. It's sort of a Moeller type motion. Been around for at least 100 years. Maybe more.
Probably the only one still doing bonham a great service. Your gunna go down in history george im tellin ya. Nobody cares now,but there will be a day where people use you, to further their idea of bonham. And will watch yhe thousand of hours youve put out playing in his style/replicating performances. It will indeed be a thing and dont think for a second that it wont
@@BONHAMOLOGY it's just the truth George. Your going harder than anyone. It's very clear why your intentions are, it's not coming from a place that's not absolutely pure. There are folks who will talk Bonham and that's great too, not everyone has to be hardcore, but your doing 3 hour live set playthroughs! It's absolutely Gunna be a part of the Bonham sphere as time goes by. @@BONHAMOLOGY I’ve watched the old videos of Max Wall and he does weird walks and dances to the marching pattern Bonzo played at Osaka. Bonzo was more than a drummer and a musician he was a master artist who used the drums to create his work. He also knew how to blend in with the rest of the band so they could paint their own pictures and he also knew how to be the canvas for Jimmy to create his art. The last 5 minutes of dazed from the Orlando 71 show are a great example of Bonzo being the canvas for Jimmy to paint on. Sounds pretentious but it’s really what’s happening.
