I saw this video like 2 years ago and I've just revisited it and it's actually one of my favourite things ever - it's the reason I got into playing the ewi too

A lighter weight, more elegant way to get motion control (roll and rise) on an EWI is to attach an iPhone (as the gyroscope) with the Midiflow app running the Motion plug-in. For wireless sliders to control additional midi controllers, I attach 3x Mixfader dj faders to the body of my AKAI5000 too. You can then program the Motion Gyro to send CC messages to 'growl and flutter" or rotate the body for harmonics, sound cross-over mixing or whatever you like.
I might well do this in the future! Unfortunately the Wii Remote doesn't work with the newer Mac OSs.

have you done anything with the display? adding something with a readout that is better than the builtin one? for changing patches.
Nah... And I don't really use the built in patches either. I just have everything set up thru Ableton Live
