My MZ 48" (Chose 48" because it fits through my sheds doors) is on year 8 and has never boke down. I have a 1 acre lawn so this was perfect for my use. It has the Kawasaki FR engine and has performed flawlessly. I added Gator mulching blades and a open and close shoot system. I only recommend the Kawasaki engines and would not touch one with a Kohler. Bad Boy needs to stop using Kohler engines and go strictly to Kawasaki or Briggs Vanguard IMO. Kohler is not what they used to be and although they will get the job done they are not near as good as Kawasaki.
How long does the non servicable hydros last . I don't have a large yards so don't put alot of hours per season. I'm just too locked in on having servicabke hydros. More control. AM I overthinking it
You might be overthinking it a bit. In this price range nearly all the hydro's you'll find on zero turns are nonservice able. That's because hydro gear has made the switch to producing non serviceable hydro's for residential and many commercial mowers. They are more efficient, and durable since all the components are in one casing, plus the lifespan is long enough that replacing them down the road if you put over 1500 ours on them wont be so expensive, especially considering how long they last.
I take care In maintaining my MZ Magnum. I cut about an acre with some slight slopes. I've three seasons on the mower. I follow the maintenance schedules. I've approximately 100 hrs on the mower. If I get 1200 hrs. of lifespan out of the hydros (average) . . Ive a good chance of never wearing out in my lifetime. So, if the MZ Magnum suits your needs then it's a non issue. IMO, you cannot beat this mower in this price range . . I highly recommend this mower. I bought mine from a dealer which I recommend. Price has increased though. I paid $3700 for mine delivered to my door step.
I have half an acre and am considering this mower with the 48" deck or potentially the Rambler. From everything I've heard in your videos and read online. Functionally it seems the only difference between the two are deck size and engine options. Do you think the engine options are worth the roughly $1000 price difference? With my yard being the size it is the deck size difference is really negligible for me. It more comes down to potential longevity and reliability. And if the engine is worth it. Do you share the sentiment that Kawasaki is the best engine they offer? In my area lots of people still have last years 48" with a Kohler motor. Thank you!!!
I have a question about the transmissions. My dealer has the MZ Magnum 52" mower. It has the Hydro-Gear zc-aubb-3dkb-1ppx . how does this compare to the ZT2800 or ZT- 3100?
The simplest way I can put it is that the 2800’s on the avenger are considered top of the line residential grade. While the ones on the MZ magnum are entry level residential. So you can expect the at avenger to run faster and for several hundred hours longer.
They do average ,just get a kit and you be fully pleased but if you do 3 passes it will print that stripe really good just take longer with out the kit .

I've read online that you are looking at like 1200-1300 hour lifespan on a non-serviceable hydro.
