Well done Emily & Clark along with the 5 other sailing channels that contributed to your project. Great perspective and very informative. A sincere thank you for putting all this together.
other channels you may want to ask is Sailing Ran in Sweden, Follow the boat in Malaysia, free range sailing in Australia, and gone with the wynns wherever they are. Really really loved this idea and have found it useful. We don't have a channel but if you want to know the cost of living in the UAE just shout and we will knock up a video
That's great to know! We contacted Ran, Follow the Boat, and a few others for this one, but unfortunately the timing didn't work out for this episode. We will keep them on our radar, though, and look up Free Range. -E
Such a great idea ... thanks so much. Onother interesting projekt would be to compare Marina costs in different countries, wouldn't it? With tipps where to find cheap places. I think its so good to speak open about the costs of our live stile all over the world.
A Great collaboration among various sailors. Thanks! What about a boat repair refit subject collaboration series. Featuring SS welding cost, fuel costs, upholstery, dodger and sail repair cost. as well as wood work, electrical and engine repair. I think this subject like the food costs comparison would aid in more people going to the list expensive port and in turn aid in competition for cruisers funds and bring down cost down in other port as they try to compete.
Your channel is a treasure to me. I'm building my own Roberts 37 here in China someday in the future. I have to use vpn to get on youtube to gather all the information that I need but still, I'm determined and nothing will stop me from living my dream on the water. Thank you again for sharing all the information.
What an absolutely brilliant vlog. We're really looking forward to crossing to the Caribbean but one of the things holding us back has been not knowing enough about the cost of food. This was brilliant and very well thought out & presented. We now feel confident that grocery shopping will not be the nightmare we thought it might be. We've also sub'd to both you & Sailorama. Love your down to earth approach to this fantastic way of life. Thank you! ⛵🌊⚓👍
Nice, well done !! Pitty mainland Brazil is a bit "out of the way" but certainly very cheap. Street fairs and supermarkets are very convenient. Again thank you and fair winds..!!!
I love this approach. I’m interested in food ideas. I’m struggling, living alone, to find an appealing round of food ideas that are healthy, tasty and fun. A glimpse of stir fry at the end of the video gave me a good lead. Food handling ideas are also welcome. I adopted Emily’s PET bottle technique and that is fabulous, but how to keep track of what is where and how to manage humidity in cupboards and storage nooks. On a different tack I’m interested in an update on lightning protection (proofing), outside and inside, experiences, and what the damage looks like (recent experience Sailing Freedom for instance), but very particularly how to protect the instruments and nav system. Any way thanks for going to the effort with this great video.
First time I’ve seen you. Referred by Sailing Britican. Great video and great concept of sharing this type of content with wannabes . Look forward to catching up with all of your videos now. Thank you so much! SK in the UK.
Another thing I'd be curious about is what different cruisers think about lightning and how to best deal with it. Are the boats protected in any way (to minimize the chance of blowing a hole in the hull)? How do they handle a squall with lightning? Disconnect antennae from radios? Shut down sensitive electronics? Do they put electronics in the oven (Faraday cage)? Any difference in procedure between at anchor or at sea? Or is it a given that one will take damage from a strike or nearby strike? Curious minds want to know. LOL
I've captured this question and will put it on our list for video ideas. Thanks I have actually done quite a study on this and Temptress has been hit many times with only moderate damage. I often do talks in this to other cruisers. We will surely get to this one.
I just found your channel. Love it. I've been a coastal sailor since 1982. I live on the Pungo River in NC but my only boat now is 50 year old juniper 15 spritsail skiff. Not going south in that! So I never pulled the trigger and did what you guys are doing. My loss but I can watch enjoy your videos. Thanks. I'm headed over to your Patreon Channel right now to give y'all a little support. Keep the videos coming.
Awesome. I don't know anyone who sail's. So I'm watching the sailing TH-camrs. Looking at boats not sure on those. Anyhow could use some guidance. Signed up for your EIE. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and adventure's.
just for Clark .. got a 1989 Haut Brion in my cave and some 40+ years Bordeaux too :-P but I would love having the vegetables I experienced in Costa Rica 20 years ago.. fly safe the both of you and as always Ty for sharing
Thanks for the shake up. I went shopping and came back with a bag of pre chopped veggies (soup mix) and some chicken pieces (small pieces) and have just made my first ever chicken vegetable soup. Very yummy, so nice and so simple. I did get the stir fry veges as well. Later in the week.
Hi William. Strange coincidence! I just finished filming on a video answering a question you posted some time ago. Lightning. Anyway I just said your name in shooting and picked up my phone to see it on this comment.
Great video! Just found this channel and subscribed before the video was finished. Wildings Sailing just ended their season traveling along the French canals and the French Mediterranean. They keep meticulous financial records, and would be a good source of price info for France.
Brilliant! Such a good idea to collaborate. There's too much competition and not enough sharing in this world :-) Great information from different perspectives. Thanks to you for bringing it all together and the others for contributing.
I do so like your theme song. You should release to iTunes. 🤔 this episode was so interesting to see world pricing, and to introduce us to more channels. Thanks for such excellent content.
Thank you very much for all the work in putting this together.Helpful to have an overall idea of prices and where to expect potential surprises. I already subscribed in several channels and barely have time to watch more videos in a week !!But thanks for the links. I would like to know about fuel prices, difference between marinas and other options, like gas stations using some kind of cans. Water ,gaz and electricity(marinas) and different options buying water.
What a wonderful song! Did u tune it Emily? By the way I love Clark’s way of explanation of different things with q&a. Thank you. I am a fan of ur sailings. Getting motivated.
Always love your videos so much information that is well needed and wanted for my future adventure and life style saving and building everyday for my dream
Well, I’m a fan of your channel. I think your song is very good. I’m sure the majority of your viewers enjoy the song. I reached out to Sailing Uma. I hope they contact you guys. Fair Winds!
Hey guys! Great episode! We are just starting our channel here in New Zealand (Sailing Pivo). We would absolutely love to collaborate in the future - please let us know. Thanks for sharing and safe travels!
Just a small correction to Sailing Fair Isle's contribution 10 Euro is about 12 dollars (in December 2020 anyway), not 7. Having recently seen the same error on some other British channels I assume they either still have old exchange rates in their thoughts or they're converting euro to gpb to usd (and visa versa) and something goes wrong during those conversions.
I get it you said take it with a grain of salt but nearly every food commodity was cheap here in Tennessee. The notable exception was beer. A 12 pack of domestic mass produced beer is going to be $10-$13 at the grocery. Chicken breast $1.88-$2.99. A full gallon of milk is now $2.99. A dozen eggs $.77. A loaf of fresh baked bread $.99-$2.99. Sliced, prepackaged cheese (real cheese) $2.19 for 12oz package. Wine can be $2.99-$199. Regular table wine like Barefoot, Sutter home, and Yellowtail is $6-$8. Food depends so much on quality and location (store to store) than region to region. You are going to pay more at Publix, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market, ect. Because you are paying for the convenience of not shopping with the working class and poor.
Yes. Some of the countries out here charge a big tax on imports. Add to that some places like the Bahamas don't really produce anything beyond seafood and you can run into high prices out sailing. It's good to know where what to expect.
What about paying ? Can you just use VISA everywhere, or are places not so electronic, and expect local currency ? Along the same lines, is access to ATMs in order to have local currency difficult ? Also, any contacts in Costa Rica that could brief us on costs there ?
Local currency is usually required unless you are in a big city supermarket. You might want to watch my video on opening a brokerage account. th-cam.com/play/PLsT7_jPsZM5qJLYMI4fKYgZDJ2Huq8e90.html I talk about how to get local cash easy and free anywhere. -C
Not our opinion. Probably something to do with marketing or color. Maybe go faster strips? I like them fresh from a chicken, not washed or refrigerated and cheap. Like we get them here in the DR.
hey are dolphins just sharks of the sea ? PS. it is suppose to be common question that confuses the answering party . nothing personal :) great video :)
Hi Johan, We have been thinking of hosting. In fact we had one of our patrons lined up for a visit but covid happened so that had to be postponed. That kind of personal correspondence really only happens over Patreon. We give more access to people who have made the decision to support us even at low levels. Shows some commitment and Patreon allowed for private messaging.
Clark: "treasured 100 bottles of Bordeaux for years" Me: "slammed 100 bottles of Bordeaux last month" that may be why they have a TH-cam channel and I have a criminal history!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well done Emily & Clark along with the 5 other sailing channels that contributed to your project. Great perspective and very informative. A sincere thank you for putting all this together.
This was an Awesome Collaboration. There really is a Sailing Community of Grown-Ups out there ! !
other channels you may want to ask is Sailing Ran in Sweden, Follow the boat in Malaysia, free range sailing in Australia, and gone with the wynns wherever they are.

Ho-ho! The Shards are the sailing duo that got me started watching lots of sailing videos.
Interesting video.
Such a great idea ... thanks so much.
Onother interesting projekt would be to compare Marina costs in different countries, wouldn't it?
With tipps where to find cheap places.
I think its so good to speak open about the costs of our live stile all over the world.
Well done, you just moved the bar for You Tube videos - congrats 🎉
The best collection of food and drink provisioning cost I have ever seen. Great Job pulling all the info together. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for saying that Eric. And you are the first to report that they are breaking local laws to watch our stuff! Glad you found a workaround.

Hi William. Hope the lightning video we just published answered your questions.
Thank you for doing all the work to compare prices.
Very interesting.
Venice. Awesome. I'd love to go there someday.
Aye m8’s, this is a brilliant way of comparison. Makes it very direct and updated. And I like Clark’s comment on how things have changed.
Great video. Man, prices in the Bahamas are sky high.
Liked the graphs at the end..

thank you
I’ll suggest it to Sailing Uma. Happy Thanksgiving. P.S. Emily, your song captures the essence of your channel. 👍
Thanks. Might sound better coming from a fan.
Great video! Just found this channel and subscribed before the video was finished. Wildings Sailing just ended their season traveling along the French canals and the French Mediterranean. They keep meticulous financial records, and would be a good source of price info for France.
Great video on the comparison of food prices. Big shout out to all the other channels that took part in this adventure with you.

We really can't fix videos with how TH-cam is set up, so the error has to stay.
Very informative ❤

ouch 10 Euros is NoT 7 Dollars ... it is atm aprox 12 Dollar US
Sorry, as of today 1 dollar is equal to 0.84 euro. So 10 dollars is 8.4 euros.
@@zooniethelazoon yep :-) so 10 Euro is 11,86 Euro :-) you are a Genius :-P
hey are dolphins just sharks of the sea ?
PS. it is suppose to be common question that confuses the answering party . nothing personal :)
great video :)
Looks like the "TLDR" is **DON'T SHOP IN THE BAHAMAS** 🤔
You got that right
Free Range Sailing
Someone else also suggested them. We will check them out!
Feel free to recommend us to them
18.07 what he said is wrong :) 10 euro is 12 dolars and not 7...cheap cheaper cheapest :)
Hi Emily & Ckarke, Thank you for an awesome channel. Do you guys ever have crew onboard? Can I contact you via email or WhatsApp?
Hi Johan,
We have been thinking of hosting. In fact we had one of our patrons lined up for a visit but covid happened so that had to be postponed.
That kind of personal correspondence really only happens over Patreon. We give more access to people who have made the decision to support us even at low levels. Shows some commitment and Patreon allowed for private messaging.
Pretty cool....there's nothing food-wise in the Bahamas for me...rip-off country. Note made to never go there.
Yes it has a lot to do with their tax structure. No income tax just a big tax on imports and various tourist taxes.
Clark: "treasured 100 bottles of Bordeaux for years" Me: "slammed 100 bottles of Bordeaux last month" that may be why they have a TH-cam channel and I have a criminal history!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
