Nice and clear explanation! Lately I try to learn everything about FB ads, but it still feels to me like eating a food that I hate. I think many musicians feel the same. Thanks for providing valuable and in depth information!👌
Thanks! Yeah honestly I hated this stuff the first few months I tried marketing my music. Then I decided to pursue it recklessly until I figured it out and got something working - 2 years later here I am haha. Its definitely not something everyone will enjoy but I think a lot more people will enjoy it if they stick with it and start seeing some results. It gets kind of addicting.
Thanks for this! I set up everything but wasn’t confident I did everything right with the pixel part of the set up. This video answered all my questions. Just what I was looking for.
Love you so much Andrew! 🧡 Srsly you're the best in the game. I bought a website just to use it for my pixel. I guess that's not necessary since using the toneden page-link works fine? :)
Hi Andrew, Love your vids and your Studio and Music are fire. I was wondering if you could make a video about Aggregated Event Measurement just to understand that a little bit more. Thank you man.
I am amazed that people can even get a FB campaign started. I tried to create a simple one following Andrew's steps and FB told me that I can't create a stories traffic ad with my own 16:9 15 second video with a single link? Everything is formatted correctly and I tried multiple browsers. It's been hours.
Hi Andrew, thanks for dropping all these gems I've been binge watching your vids like crazy. I wanted to ask whether if for example I'm managing different artists does that mean I should have different Pixels for each?
Technically you can use the same pixel for everything, but i'd recommend using a different Pixel for every artist especially if the artists are different from eachother enough. If its like a hip-hop label where all artists are similar then using 1 pixel probably won't hurt. However the best practice long term would be to have each artist have their own BM account and you're managing their ad account from inside of that, but the finance aspect gets kind of hairy that way and if each artist is using small budgets their ad accounts may get worse results since they'll be so new and have such limited data.
Andrew, I set up the custom conversion correctly but under the "Aggregated Event Measurement" it says "No". When I click "Configure" it takes me to a primary domain page. I tried inputing Hypeddit but it doesn't seem to be working. Should you have your own website and use it as you primary domain? When I try to test the custom conversion, it just says "Custom Event" and the conversion is still labeled "Inactive". Any insight you can offer helps, your content is great tysm
Hey Andrew I've been watching a ton of your videos! I had minimal success with plays from a traffic campaign (as you've said could be expected). Now that my pixel is set up through my domain I've worked my cost per conversion down to .10 after a lot of trial and error... But the plays aren't coming in. I had 133 conversions yesterday but only 11 plays showed up. I blocked India like you said and everything but it still feels like this must be a click farm problem right? Should I just block all of Asia? (Trying this now)
@@AndrewSouthworth ah thank you for the response! I've done a bunch more experimenting and now only advertise to Europe North America and South America. I've tried doing both only stories and using audience network for conversions, I've actually found that while audience network is of course cheaper, the conversions don't seem to equate plays any more than stories. The rate went up from what it was (before it was 9%) it went up to 15% but it's still just not worth the money at all. It's over a dollar per play most days. I've been trying hard to follow all of your advice, could it just be that starting from low following these days is a lot tougher with the privacy changes? Oh and one other frustrating thing, my toneden viewcontent count never matches my fb campaign numbers, it's quite frustrating
hey Andrew! so I'm working with another musician on getting some facebook ads set up for them. the ad account is pretty new. we first ran some link click campaigns to warm it up and are now trying some conversion campaigns. but when setting up the ad, under "tracking" it says the facebook pixel isn't active and needs to be reactivated. however, when we test the toneden landing page in "test events" everything is firing and seems to be activated. his ads are up and running and spending, but we're receiving a "-" in the Cost Per Result margin. do you have any idea what may be wrong? he only has this one pixel and it's all connected to toneden correctly. as mentioned, when the events are tested, "page view" and "view content" fires, which is all we're looking for right now. we're getting link clicks, but no cost per conversion results. so it's got to be something with the pixel... please let me know your thoughts! thanks in advance 🙏
Hmm if you have domain level tracking turned on in the ad, make sure you have that event added to aggregated event measurement. If you’re not using domain level tracking then switch it to pixel tracking. This option is at the ad level btw. Aside from that if tests events shows the event and you chose that event in the ad set, all should be good.
Hi Andrew, I was one of your first client to enroll in your Spotify Growth machine courses, one year ago. I'm contacting today in this comment because I got no reply by mail with your Genera Studios mail adress. My problem is that I tried to get back on this course and, as I wasn't able to remember my password and went for the "forgot my password" process, I was very surprised to see that it was saying that no account exists with my email address... Has my account been deleted?? I would really like to study this course again, Thank you in advance
Hey, I'm having an issue with my pixel, I've got it all set up (without a website) and Facebook is screaming at me to get it set up on one (which costs extra money to have one set up that allows pixels). When I check the Toneden page I'm trying to send people to using Pixel Helper, there's a page view signal but it's not showing up in the test events. Has anyone got any suggestions?
It depends. If the pixel doesn't have too much data on it from work and isn't being used anymore on their sites, it would probably be fine to use it for your music.
Quick question - I went to test events, using chrome and turning off ad blocker, I copy and pasted the link as you instructed and nothing happened. The toneden link appears to work fine. Can this be an issue with the pixel? Any easy solutions to fix this or should I create a new pixel and assume there is something wrong with the current one created?
Hmm it should work. Make sure you copied the Pixel ID correctly into ToneDen, make sure your ad blocker is 100% off in extensions, don't allow ads on the same make sure its completely turned off. Another way to check is to use Facebook Pixel Helper which is a Chrome extension, you won't be able to see ViewContent but at least you'll be able to see the Pixel on the page which should be good enough to ensure its working.
Hey Andrew. I got everything with Hypeddit setup thanks to your videos. I appreciate the help. Now that I’m setup up with the custom conversion for Hypeddit clicks, I’m seeing the conversions show up on my ads but all demographic info about those who converged shows as “unknown”. Is that normal? I can see demographics for ad reach but not the conversions
If its that pop-up thing you can close it, and then grab the Pixel ID on the page and put it onto a landing page. Then just start 'firing' the page by going to it, make sure no ad blockers are on while you do this, and 30 minutes later you should see some data in the Pixel.
I can’t get my pixel to fire using Toneden. It’s on the site as my default pixel, FB pixel helper sees it, BUT the most important part is when someone clicks my link in an ad it doesn’t refuse a Page View or View Content like it’s supposed. Rendering retargeting impossible. I used the link in Test Events and that doesn’t work either. The only way I know my pixel Is there is thru pixel helper. Any reasons why this is firing like it should? It really needs to like yesterday lol.
I just heard that Facebook is going to be getting rid of pixels this year, should we be worried about this? Is there going to be another way to track everything?
They're talking about getting rid of the Pixel, but its replacement will be Conversion API which is actually better than a Pixel. The only concern I have is if companies that we use will support conversion API in time, Hypeddit already does but ToneDen doesn't and I don't know if FeatureFM does. Also on your own website its not nearly as easy to setup as a regular pixel, unless theirs a direct integration.
The magical thing about Conversion API and why its better, it shares the maximum amount of data to Facebook directly from your website's server. So if on your website a person buys a shirt from you, your site will send over their name, email, address, phone number, the value paid for the shirt, their browsing behavior or any other information they entered into a form. It also can't be blocked by an ad-blocker.
@@AndrewSouthworth ok bet right when m heard they were getting rid of it I was freaking out haha, but the is sounds better, I use Toneden so I hope they're going to implement it soon!
haha yeah I don't think it'll be too much of a big deal honestly. Companies were quick to adapt to iOS14 i'm sure it will be the same with this. A lot already support it because ad blockers already mess with browser Pixels, and so does the browser Safari. Every Shopify store and funnel softwares like ThriveCart have supported it for a while. I'm sure WooCommerce does some way as well.
Hey Andrew, I'm having a problem with some of this stuff that you talk about on your channel. I've set up the pixel and the campaign and that's all working. The problem is I'm getting way fewer spotify plays than what Toneden tells I should have, let's say there's been a few hundred view content results and a few hundred clickthroughs on toneden but only a few dozen streams on spotify for artists... Why do you think that would happen? My first thought was to turn off advertising to 3rd tier countries but still the correlation seems off to me. Thank you for all this information, your channel is awesome, you are changing people's lives with this stuff!
I would try the country thing, specifically all of Africa and Asia has been hit or miss especially for newer ad accounts. Also make sure you’re not using audience network as a placement. Most of the time that fixes the problem when this happens to people.
@@AndrewSouthworth Thanks for getting back to me! I definitely have the audience network turned off. As far as 'Newer ad account' what do you mean by that? Would an older ad account perform better in Africa and/or Asia? Why and how would that be?
With newer ad accounts your pixel and account have very little data on the right type of person for your audience. Over time Facebook learns who converts, who follows you, who engages etc and uses that to make your campaigns even better. New accounts don’t get that benefit.
It’s only messing it up if you’re firing two events. If you use event setup tool with ToneDen and using view content, you may have two events firing every time someone converts.
The consequences are that Facebook thinks you have twice as many results as you actually do, so your conversions costs are actually twice as high as you think they are. It also messes up with how Facebook learns since it’s counting every action as being twice as good as it should be.
Hi Andrew, great video! I am having a problem with creating a custom conversion for spotify (or any streaming service). Make sure you copied your Pixel ID correctly over to ToneDen. Aside from that it SHOULD be working, there aren't any other things you could tweak there.
If it shows up with Facebook Pixel Helper it should be working fine. I just thought of another potential issue if you're from the EU. ToneDen by default turns tracking OFF for some people living in the EU due to their privacy tracking laws (I believe some people's browsers have settings for this). In the bottom left of your landing page you'll see options for this as well, your browser may have told ToneDen to skip tracking due to EU laws. Of course that only applies if you're in the EU.
