For those of you who get issues with Feature Fm Test events not working(1) and FeatureFM custom event not appearing in the dropdown on Custom conversion creation(2) 1. Pixel can be added on a profile level(Main page>Top right profile picture>Artist Settings>Link Settings>Facebook Pixel) and on a Smart Link level(Main page>Smartlinks>Edit(pencil button)>Advanced settings>Facebook). If you add a pixel on a profile level first, it's then automatically populated on a smart link level(when you create a smart link) and you're good to go. BUT (it was my case) If you create a smart link first and only then add a pixel to the profile, the smart link knows nothing about the pixel in the profile. So you either need to recreate a smart link or(which is easier) add a pixel on a smart link level. To check if you have a pixel on you smart link page you may use Meta Pixel Helper extenstion from the Chrome Extension Store Next, they really mean it when they say you need to turn off ad blockers when doing the Test Event thing. I've tested it with being turned on and off and it doesn't send events when the Ad Blocker is on. For the sake of testing I completely removed the blocker from the browser just to not rely on manual per-page blocking. 2. Once you see the test events flowing through you may want to create a custom conversion, but the FeatureFM event won't appear in the dropdown. So in my case I just needed to wait a couple of hours. But what I also did before that is I went to my smart link directly(not via the Test Events) and generated some events(by clicking Spotify/Apple Music links etc.). I've seen somewhere in the comments someone recommended this. And after a couple of hours the FeatureFM event appeared. Hope this helps someone and good luck on your promotion journey ;) P.S.: I don't have an Event Parameters option in the rules dropdown though, so the struggle continues P.P.S: Event Parameters option appeared just in around an hour after I published this comment
Thanks for sharing this guide! The ad blocker thing and event parameter option confuses a TON of people. I'll also add that sometimes certain browsers disable 3rd party cookies. So even with ad blockers turned off it still doesn't fire. Thats when you need to either use a different browser or go into the privacy settings of the browser and enable 3rd party tracking cookies for all sites or at least the specific domains the pixel is running on.

You didn't show at all how to make the pixel... I am still heavily confused tbh. Why do you start with a finished Pixel? for me it asks me to either code one myself(????) or use some sort of partner integration, this didn't help...
Most people already have a pixel setup in their account so I didn't cover it in this video. To make one, you can go into business settings and go to pixels or datasets and create a new one, then link it to the ad account. If you're using a personal ad account go to events manager and click connect datasource.

Hi Andrew, a little heads up: Meta is migrating from Pixels to Dataset and they have been silently converting people Pixels to Datasets. I discovered this the hard way today when my Pixel stopped working because... it suddenly got converted to a Dataset and was assigned a new ID. So the Toneden landing page wasn't working anymore. I'd love to see this topic have a new video, even though Dataset work exactly the same as Pixels.

Hey Andrew, your videos helped me to start running ads! However I never found any topic about if you should use a different pixel for a different genre, let’s say I make meditation music and rock. Should I use two separate pixels? This hasn’t been covered anywhere so I would like to hear what your take on that is? :)
all great info, but the one question no one has been able to answer... I install the pixel correctly, the pixel tracks what people are doing on my landing page.... now what do i do with this information?
The pixel is what communicates information back and forth between your landing page / website. Anytime someone leaves the Facebook and Instagram app and go to a different website you need the pixel installed so that it can track information and send it back to Facebook. When you start running an Ad campaign the pixel is what tracks conversions in this case anytime someone clicks on your landing page and streams your song. If your pixel is installed correctly it will relay anytime someone clicks to stream your song back to Facebook and this basically tells Facebook to find more people who will also click your landing page and stream your song. Without your pixel Installed properly basically you won’t be able to get any data and results when someone clicks off the Facebook and Instagram platform! I hope that makes sense haha
Use it for audiences and targeting or to-target lookalike audiences or people that have watched xx% of your ad videos/ads .. you can figure out your fans

In a previous video you say that we can't use the Hypeddit Smart Link Click event in our ads... but it seems to me that we actually can. This is what I've been doing for weeks. What do you mean exactly when you say that we can't use this event in our conversion ads ?

You can just use that conversion event without making a custom conversion. I've just always used the custom conversion method. It should work entering a period as the URL rule though.

However, I see contradicting data between AdsManager and Toneden landing pages. Currently, I have one Pixel that captures data from 3 landing pages, giving me only one “view content”, while Toneden shows more than that. Would you advise having one Pixel per landing page instead?

Hi Andrew, I've just started using Feature FM to try and setup a conversion campaign and despite having linked my pixel and run test events to check the FFM event is being reported, when I go to create a custom conversion the 'event parameters' drop down is unavailable. Do you know what could be causing this? Is it to do with domain verification?
@@mylusmusic Hey dude, yes I did! So it seems you need to have the Pixel receiving events from FFM for a certain amount of time, perhaps a week or so before these will show up. I think they also need to be actual events as opposed to just sending test events. However I did also get a custom domain for my FFM page and then verified that domain for iOS optimisation in Ads Manger. Meta also now has a technical support team and marketing support team that recently seems to have been introduced so if you're still having issues I'd contact their technical support as they've really helped me with other issues.
Hey Andrew, are you saying that I am unable to run conversion campaigns for a client who does not have a website? They only have their pixel in an FeatureFM page but have not verified their domain through fbook since they don't have a custom domain/website. Would greatly appreciate a reply! Thanks

Can anyone help? No matter what I try the Smartlink isn't showing up whenever I try to create a custom conversion! I've tried creating landing pages on various platforms, and they all test perfectly, but then no matter how many time I refresh, leave overnight (or a few days). I can't seem to choose the smartlink I've created like Andrew is able to at 6.14? Anyone had the same? I've been struggling with it for 2 weeks now! TIA

I wouldn't recommend using Linktree for ads, its more of a Link In Bio than a smart link. However on that same note i'm not sure what conversion events they fire when people click on buttons. You'd have to put the link in Test Events to see what events fire. Then based on that data, make a custom conversion. Generally for smart links you're never going to use URL or Referring Domain (unless you're justing putting in a period (' . ') to denote all domains. The only thing you'd customize would be parameters, and that depends on the landing page service and what they fire in the parameters.
At the moment, Meta ads are by far the most effective ad platform for promoting music (and a whole lot of other stuff). However Facebook platforms in general are optional, nowadays a lot of the time i'm running only on Instagram placements.
My RULES` dropdown menu does NOT have 'Event Parameters' option. There are only 2 options: "URL" and "Referring Domain". I've waited a few days and have triggered clicks on the landing page PLAY buttons with the appropriate Smart Links to my pixel. FFM custom events are showing up on the TEST screen, but I don't have access to them in the dropdown menu in Custom Conversions. If anyone figures this out please let me know.
This seems to happen to a small percentage of people. This week I was on a call with someone and within 30 minutes of testing we had the option - thats what SHOULD happen. But for some it takes longer or requires many more conversions to be triggered before it finally shows up. If it isn't showing for you, trigger the event a bunch of times, send it to some other people to trigger it as well, make sure you don't have a domain block list or allow list in your events manager settings.
Need major help, for some reason whenever i try to get the custom conversion to show up, the event just states “All URL Traffic” it doesn’t state any of the custom conversions that was created. I waited & waited about 12-13 hours to see if it would pop up but it still didn’t. Does it have something to do with the account im using? Very frustrating..

I see a tally of streams but do you make a profit above Facebook ad spend? And since it appears you barely do if at all what is the goal of this strategy? In other words why not create a followers system that has at least the promise of lower future ad spend? Appreciated
exactly. this is like marketing 101. you spend money on ads because they make you money. i have no idea what a like is worth or a follow or a playlist ad. maybe nothing. i do know what a dollar is worth and once it's in my bank account no one is unsubscribing it. 😂 there is some much talk about getting social media attention and streams. but try paying your rent with them. i suppose the goal is to grow and audience. however, if you don't have that audiences' data (email, txt) they aren't really yours as some people found out when they got kicked off major platforms. say good ba-----eye to "your" audience. i don't know what the solution is. just saying.
Facebook got rid of Aggregated Events Measurement. You no longer need to verify your domain or add events to it. This is a good thing, it makes it easier for newer people getting into ads!
Alright, so is it just me or does setting up a Facebook ad require the patience of a saint? I have 1 failed spotify conversion campaign, because Facebook makes it so difficult and overly complicated and it's so NOT user friendly and there's no support! I then did 2 google ad campaigns that were for content on TH-cam. Setting them up was ridiculously easy and quick, and the results were THE BOMB. So what's the deal with that? You always talk about FB ads, but only a tiny bit about google. You gotta be paid by FB or something, because in my experience both the results and ease of use were ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE better using google ads instead of Facebook. I'm not trying to call you out or anything, you help people and that's a good thing. I just want this difference in my experience to get out there and to see if anyone has had the same, or if you have some response.
The reason the FB ad campaign was so much more complicated because you're using a website and conversions (which is a good thing), compared to running a video view promotion on Google ads. If you tried to set up conversions on Google you'd realize its actually even more complicated than Facebook. Although FB ads in general is not the most user friendly, and their customer service is absolute trash. Ironically right now i'd say Facebook's interface is actually the most user friendly compared to Google, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, Twitter ads etc. In general I recommend people spend much more on FB ads than Google ads because the results are much better across the board. TH-cam ads will generally only get you views on a video, with no spill over to other platforms. The FB ads will not only get you Spotify streams, but social media followers, TH-cam views and subscribers, Apple Shazams etc. All of these platforms have a learning curve. Most people struggle with them at first. However once you do a few you'll notice that it mostly becomes a game of copy and paste with minor adjustments. You'll spend less time focused on setting the thing up and more time focused on the audience and creative strategy. Facebook probably SHOULD pay me for the amount I talk about their ad platform, but they don't. As far as I know they don't even run a sponsorship program.
i created a facebook pixel and it is asking me to install it on my website. I bought a domain but dont have a live site. I am trying to follow your instructions for IOS14 setup. It is asking me to upload a code. How do I do that if i am just using toneden. I am so confused. What am I missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated
All you need is the Facebook Pixel ID, not the code. If you close the code field and go to events manager, you should see your ID code listed on the left side.

I am getting this message “campaign may get zero view content” and it tells me to either increase my audience or budget. So I’ve done that and the errors goes away, and then if I go back to the campaign later, the message is back. It keeps disappearing after I make an adjustment but then comes back after I adjust what it tells me to adjust. I didn’t have this issue last time I ran an ad. Any ideas?
I would ignore that message, as long as its setup correctly. Everyone gets that message when they're using a new pixel, new event, or a new ad account. Once FB gets some conversion data for that event and that pixel, they start to know what to expect from you.
Andrew hi! How are you? Saw your email on the whole Toneden fiasco. Trying to setup Hypeddit but can't see the custom event. It doesn't show up, even after setting up the smart link and including the pixel. Somehow the custom conversion setup seems to have changed. Have you experienced this as well?
Nevermind, figured it out. FYI, to setup custom conversions, you now have to verify them via the "Datasources - Overview" menu. Just in case anyone else is wondering!

Yeah you’ll need a pixel to put on your landing page. Your ToneDen, hypeddit or feature fm page. Ideally you’d also have a domain. No website required though.

UPDATE: I did something with registering a new account and making that new account the main one, so now I was able to generate the access token and use it on my landing page, I don't know if that's enough because I saw some people getting some AWS accound / Hosting services / Cloud necessities, I'm not sure what's that all about and if that is indeed necessary.

With ToneDen you don't actually need a custom conversion. You can just use the standard View Content event thats built into Facebook.

Hey Andrew thanks for the great info as usual. There's something I don't understand with Hyppedit : why do we have to create our custom conversion ? In a previous video you say that we can't use the Hypeddit Smart Link Click event in our ads... but it seems to me that we actually can. This is what I've been doing for weeks. What do you mean exactly when you say that we can't use this event in our conversion ads ?
Did you ever find an answer to this? For me the Custom Conversion isnt showing up anywhere, but the Hypeddit Smart Link Click event is showing up when creating the ads. Did this work for you with the same results?

You can just use that conversion event without making a custom conversion. I've just always used the custom conversion method. It should work entering a period as the URL rule though.

However, I see contradicting data between AdsManager and Toneden landing pages. Currently, I have one Pixel that captures data from 3 landing pages, giving me only one “view content”, while Toneden shows more than that. Would you advise having one Pixel per landing page instead?

I just started a campaign with Toneden link but I see a difference between clicks on the link in Meta, in Toneden data and also streams to spotify in Toneden and in my Artists profil. Is that because people stop streaming the song too early or am I missing something ?

Hi Andrew, I've just started using Feature FM to try and setup a conversion campaign and despite having linked my pixel and run test events to check the FFM event is being reported, when I go to create a custom conversion the 'event parameters' drop down is unavailable. Do you know what could be causing this? Is it to do with domain verification?

@@mylusmusic Hey dude, yes I did! So it seems you need to have the Pixel receiving events from FFM for a certain amount of time, perhaps a week or so before these will show up. I think they also need to be actual events as opposed to just sending test events. However I did also get a custom domain for my FFM page and then verified that domain for iOS optimisation in Ads Manger. Meta also now has a technical support team and marketing support team that recently seems to have been introduced so if you're still having issues I'd contact their technical support as they've really helped me with other issues.

Hey Andrew, are you saying that I am unable to run conversion campaigns for a client who does not have a website? They only have their pixel in an FeatureFM page but have not verified their domain through fbook since they don't have a custom domain/website. Would greatly appreciate a reply! Thanks
You can still run it. But you can’t target most iPhone users without the custom domain.
Hey Andrew! Important question: is it important that the traffic is showing up in the test event-tab itself? In my case the events are only showing up in the overview-tab! Can anyone help? No matter what I try the Smartlink isn't showing up whenever I try to create a custom conversion! I've tried creating landing pages on various platforms, and they all test perfectly, but then no matter how many time I refresh, leave overnight (or a few days). I can't seem to choose the smartlink I've created like Andrew is able to at 6.14? Anyone had the same? I've been struggling with it for 2 weeks now! TIA

I wouldn't recommend using Linktree for ads, its more of a Link In Bio than a smart link. However on that same note i'm not sure what conversion events they fire when people click on buttons. You'd have to put the link in Test Events to see what events fire. Then based on that data, make a custom conversion.
Generally for smart links you're never going to use URL or Referring Domain (unless you're justing putting in a period (' . ') to denote all domains. The only thing you'd customize would be parameters, and that depends on the landing page service and what they fire in the parameters.

how necessary is facebook overall to running successful ads?
At the moment, Meta ads are by far the most effective ad platform for promoting music (and a whole lot of other stuff). However Facebook platforms in general are optional, nowadays a lot of the time i'm running only on Instagram placements.
My RULES` dropdown menu does NOT have 'Event Parameters' option. There are only 2 options: "URL" and "Referring Domain". I've waited a few days and have triggered clicks on the landing page PLAY buttons with the appropriate Smart Links to my pixel. FFM custom events are showing up on the TEST screen, but I don't have access to them in the dropdown menu in Custom Conversions. If anyone figures this out please let me know.
This seems to happen to a small percentage of people. This week I was on a call with someone and within 30 minutes of testing we had the option - thats what SHOULD happen. But for some it takes longer or requires many more conversions to be triggered before it finally shows up.
If it isn't showing for you, trigger the event a bunch of times, send it to some other people to trigger it as well, make sure you don't have a domain block list or allow list in your events manager settings.

Need major help, for some reason whenever i try to get the custom conversion to show up, the event just states “All URL Traffic” it doesn’t state any of the custom conversions that was created. I waited & waited about 12-13 hours to see if it would pop up but it still didn’t. Does it have something to do with the account im using? Very frustrating..

exactly. this is like marketing 101. you spend money on ads because they make you money. i have no idea what a like is worth or a follow or a playlist ad. maybe nothing. i do know what a dollar is worth and once it's in my bank account no one is unsubscribing it. 😂 there is some much talk about getting social media attention and streams. but try paying your rent with them. i suppose the goal is to grow and audience. however, if you don't have that audiences' data (email, txt) they aren't really yours as some people found out when they got kicked off major platforms. say good ba-----eye to "your" audience. i don't know what the solution is. just saying.

Facebook got rid of Aggregated Events Measurement. You no longer need to verify your domain or add events to it. This is a good thing, it makes it easier for newer people getting into ads!
Alright, so is it just me or does setting up a Facebook ad require the patience of a saint? I have 1 failed spotify conversion campaign, because Facebook makes it so difficult and overly complicated and it's so NOT user friendly and there's no support!
I then did 2 google ad campaigns that were for content on TH-cam. Setting them up was ridiculously easy and quick, and the results were THE BOMB. So what's the deal with that? You always talk about FB ads, but only a tiny bit about google. You gotta be paid by FB or something, because in my experience both the results and ease of use were ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE better using google ads instead of Facebook.
I'm not trying to call you out or anything, you help people and that's a good thing. I just want this difference in my experience to get out there and to see if anyone has had the same, or if you have some response.
The reason the FB ad campaign was so much more complicated because you're using a website and conversions (which is a good thing), compared to running a video view promotion on Google ads. If you tried to set up conversions on Google you'd realize its actually even more complicated than Facebook.
Although FB ads in general is not the most user friendly, and their customer service is absolute trash. Ironically right now i'd say Facebook's interface is actually the most user friendly compared to Google, TikTok, Reddit, Snapchat, Twitter ads etc.
In general I recommend people spend much more on FB ads than Google ads because the results are much better across the board. TH-cam ads will generally only get you views on a video, with no spill over to other platforms. The FB ads will not only get you Spotify streams, but social media followers, TH-cam views and subscribers, Apple Shazams etc.
All of these platforms have a learning curve. Most people struggle with them at first. However once you do a few you'll notice that it mostly becomes a game of copy and paste with minor adjustments. You'll spend less time focused on setting the thing up and more time focused on the audience and creative strategy.
Facebook probably SHOULD pay me for the amount I talk about their ad platform, but they don't. As far as I know they don't even run a sponsorship program.
So, how do you get to Data Sources?
i created a facebook pixel and it is asking me to install it on my website. I bought a domain but dont have a live site. I am trying to follow your instructions for IOS14 setup. It is asking me to upload a code. How do I do that if i am just using toneden. I am so confused. What am I missing here? Any help is greatly appreciated
All you need is the Facebook Pixel ID, not the code. If you close the code field and go to events manager, you should see your ID code listed on the left side.

I am getting this message “campaign may get zero view content” and it tells me to either increase my audience or budget. So I’ve done that and the errors goes away, and then if I go back to the campaign later, the message is back. It keeps disappearing after I make an adjustment but then comes back after I adjust what it tells me to adjust. I didn’t have this issue last time I ran an ad. Any ideas?
I would ignore that message, as long as its setup correctly. Everyone gets that message when they're using a new pixel, new event, or a new ad account. Once FB gets some conversion data for that event and that pixel, they start to know what to expect from you.

Andrew hi! How are you? Saw your email on the whole Toneden fiasco. Trying to setup Hypeddit but can't see the custom event. It doesn't show up, even after setting up the smart link and including the pixel. Somehow the custom conversion setup seems to have changed. Have you experienced this as well?
Nevermind, figured it out. FYI, to setup custom conversions, you now have to verify them via the "Datasources - Overview" menu. Just in case anyone else is wondering!

I'm not sure honestly. I know they charge per link, and it's kind of expensive considering other options out there.

Hey Andrew, when I try and set up a custom conversion for Tonden I don't see the options in the "Events" drop down menu. Only option I see is "All URL Traffic." Is there any reason I can't see any other events?
Once you trigger the event, if you wait 30-60 minutes and refresh, you should see View Content in there.

Yeah you’ll need a pixel to put on your landing page. Your ToneDen, hypeddit or feature fm page. Ideally you’d also have a domain. No website required though.
at 6:11, I cannot chose any hypeddit smart link click, There is nothing that i can chose from unfortunately, i need to ad an event it says to my website. It seems to be kind off complicated, im not sure how to continue..
I'm running into the same issue with Feature FM and it seems like you need a verified custom domain in order to see these additional events.

If you go to events manager, then settings, then in the conversion APi section click generate access token.

UPDATE: I did something with registering a new account and making that new account the main one, so now I was able to generate the access token and use it on my landing page, I don't know if that's enough because I saw some people getting some AWS accound / Hosting services / Cloud necessities, I'm not sure what's that all about and if that is indeed necessary.
