You might want to do an updated video. TH-cam released a new layout with new options for objectives and campaign subtypes such as "Video Views" & "TH-cam Engagement" to target subscribers. However, some people may not have the option for TH-cam engagement. Also, giving "Multi-format ads" as an option too when you're setting up the ad.

Yeah these ad platforms are changing stuff almost every month. Usually each change is quite small, but over the course of a year it adds up to be a lot.
I just started my first youtube promo campaigns last week and went a completely different route, but it’s very interesting to see your approach. I selected all countries for my audience, but limited to placements on channels of similar artists, major record labels in my genre, and major music blogs in my genre. So far the campaigns are doing great, I nearly doubled (!) my subscribers, and spoke with a google ad specialist this morning to optimize my campaign. I would love to get similar results for only US audiences. My best ad campaign has $0.012 CPV and this was done with the no goal campaign.
@@CallMeLTR it was pretty quick, ngl. there must be something wrong in the way you set it up. maybe the target cpw is too low? idk. the setup is super glitchy and complex tbh
In my own experience and that of some fellow musicians, google ads for music videos is a waste of money. You don't get many followers, and paying 5 cents per visit is very expensive. Still, for those who want to give it a try, I recommend using only in-feed ads.
Once again, great videos Andrew. Would be super interested in a video where you run through all the ad platforms that small artists have available and you give quick 1-2 minute assessment of each of them, perhaps even a ranking or scoring element to it.
Thanks for this. Looking forward to an update on campaign subtype: "video views" vs "video reach". Sounds like "video views" is for in-feed (higher engagement). But both are for in-stream (more views) - it would be interesting to know the differences.
Unfortunately ad platforms change constantly, usually something small every couple months and a major change every year. This is why i've made 4 or so TH-cam ads tutorials, I give it a refresh as the platform changes and as I test out new ad campaigns.
You mentioned that most of the skippable ad views are 5 seconds - but I thought that in order for a view to be registered, it must be at least 30 seconds, or some form of interaction must take place?
I think its probably been asked quite a lot of times but can you do an updated video as the settings and a lot of things seem to have changed. It will help incredibly, Many thanks.
Love this and would definitely love to see a video where you talk about results, what a "good" cost-per-view would be, an analysis of the engagement quality, etc

Hey! thanks so much for this video Andrew-UPDATE: google has moved the content exclusions tab elsewere (to account settings, which I'm honestly having trouble finding, despite reading their "help" page on it). I feel like this is a pretty crucial part of how you ran your campaigns. Any thoughts, or a potential update on how to get this part to work?
also this is my first campaign so as I'm creating it along with you, it was tricky to find the expert/advanced settings button, and also impossible to get to just account page until after I already had created my first campaign for some reason.
I also can't seem to figure out the exclusions list! I know it's under the shared library tab in the top right corner but am I supposed to enter every single website I don't want my videos to play on???
Your videos have helped me so many times - in addition to this they've added a "video views" campaign type and Multi-Format Ads. Curious to see how well these work
You must learn marketing terms in order for you to fully understand yt ads is next to google ads that means once you get your campaign on TH-cam ads then nothing can stop you really. You can promote your own playlists and get millions of followers to your Spotify branded playlists and put your songs on there too after a month or something
I’m thinking of creating a 100 playlists with all music genres and then putting my song on top once in a while but as my own brand, this way even though your song doesn’t get major playlisting you have your own playlists you can put your song to 🎉
I ran these campaigns 3 times on another channel with an average 65 views per day. The campaigns did very well, a lot of views, amazing watch time, I was very very happy but all the 3 times the campaigns ended my channel litterally died. From 65 views per day before the campaign to 10 per day after the campaign (some day even zero). I think they are great while you pay but useless in terms of traction and exposure in the medium/long time.
Hey Andrew, really hoping that you can answer my message, I really like ur vids but I just havee 1 question concerning this. Why when I run these type of ads I still get so few likes and comments? Is there anything else that we could do with google ads to really increase the engagement, the likes and the comments? Thanks a ton man, all the best. Keep going!
It's really hard getting good engagement on a TH-cam ad. It will never be 'amazing' but there are things you can do to improve it. For example running in-feed ads instead of skippable ads. Making sure your targeting is relevant. Running multiple ad groups and then optimizing for the one that gives the most earned metrics. People are just unlikely to leave comments the first time they see a music video or similar from an artist. Or really any TH-cam channel the first time.

any luck using youtube ads to push spotify? Facebook has been going after content copyright match over the last week and its now caused my ad account to get disabled.... May not be an option for many artists if they don't fix it.
What would be the difference between choose 'Brand awarness and reach' vs 'Create a campaign witbout a goals guide'? The options in both seem identical?
The create a campaign without a goal just lets you create any type of campaign, pretty much. The other options are presets for certain types of scenarios. This means there are often several ways to run the same campaign.
