@@jacksoncaswell2.0 Not as good as Black Knight though, I think Roger needs to improve upon his new voice direction for Sonic, and there also needs to be more memorable quotes.
I've been seeing a massive wave of distain towards Heroes and while I understand why people may not like the game, I personally had a wonderful time playing through the game. If you don't like it, I fully understand that but idk I really enjoyed my time with Heroes. I also think the Rush games are mega underrated considering how great both of those games are.
Me too its probably one if my all time favs but thats probably nostalgia speaking mostly but i had a wonderful time playing it neo metal sonic if i am remembering correctly? Loved the design
Need more Heroes slander, that is not a fun game to play. That's on the same tier as Shadow if I'm being real even if it's slightly higher on that tier
If we’re being fair here, the most underrated mainline games, could be probably go to CD, Heroes, or say the handheld ports of console games, but they’re all definitely fairly acknowledged and favored, so really it’s up to spin offs like 8 bit, racers, or other character games, which is harder to choose.
@@andarilho_31 ima ask to you, did you explored the level by going to the past and destroy the generators or did ONLY the special stages for finish the game (or didn't did both of those).
Not sure if this really counts as a Sonic game but Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed doesn’t get talked about enough. Some of the best controls I’ve ever seen in a racing game, the transformation mechanic working super well and having a nice flow with the maps. And it’s got a great character selection. The music is amazing as well. I play on the PC and can still find people playing it online.
In my opinion, I personally think that 3D Blast is very underrated. The isometric perspective never bothered me too much, and as someone who always wanted a Sonic collectathon, this is absolutely my jam.
Gotta say, it's sad not seeing a lot of love for Advance 3 since I've finished it. When I first tried it out, I wasn't expecting anything special. Just another 2D platformer after I've gone through all the og classic games, and not many people I had seen had liked the game, but I was willing to give it a try, since it had a partner mechanic and I liked Heroes. Now it's in my top 3, right behind Frontiers and Heroes. It's just such a fun game with so much charm. The music is really good for it being on the GBA, the level ideas fun unique and fresh with the gimmicks never getting too annoying, and the level design was honestly really fun. I'll admit, there's some classic Dimps moments with weird enemy placement, bottomless pits, and crushing blocks, but by learning the level, I've been able to make it past those. The bosses are also pretty fun, with only the 6th one being a bit iffy to me. It made me a bit angry, but I still felt satisfied when I beat it. I can't give fair criticism for the Chao hunting, since I just used TH-cam tutorials, but the special stages are genuinely my favorite in the Sonic series. With a bit of draw distance fixing, I honestly think they could be perfect. All this while barely talking about the main gimmick of the game with the partner mechanic, which was a blast to use, and it was fun testing out the different combos, like Tails and Amy, Cream and Knuckles, and Sonic and Cream. I get that not all of the combos are great, pairing Tails and Cream together either way is an awful idea and Knuckles and Sonic isn't amazing either, but to anyone who complains about that, here's a neat tip. Just don't use them. Tldr: Advance 3 is a great game, with fun levels, banger music, even for the GBAs standards, and a really great gimmick. If only Advance 2 actually lived up to my expectations. Also, other pretty solid games that don't get looked at enough are probably Battle and Tails Adventure. They're fun romps, but also have their fair share of issues, which is why I chose to talk about Advance 3 instead.
The BIGGEST reason I think Lost World gets so much hate is cuz it came off the heels of Generations. Right as the boost formula was at its peak, Lost World completely changed things up, so many fans were frustrated because "if it ain't broke don't fix it." The reasons you cited were part of the discussion as well, and the conversation has evolved over time as boost is falling out of favor but when Lost World came out, that first issue was front and center
Wellll.. either that, or they just didn't like the garbage writing or the horrible parkour gimmick, lmao. Sometimes, the fanbase has a right to be upset.. and Lost World was definitely one of these times.
@@Maubari The writing is not particularly more of a damning factor than several other games(Plus a good amount of the fanbase claims the series would be better without cutscenes anyways)and "horrible parkour gimmick" even tho everyone and their mother admits that is the game's strong point, even the people hating the game. Imagine being this unserious just to hate on a game. If you don't like it, then sure enough, but the same logic can be stretched into the infamous "3D Sonic was always bad" real quick.
@@Maubari OMG get over the story. Who cares, not me. The franchise lore/story/world been gang-rammed, bich-slapped since... the original series bible.
I got hot takes myself, sonic 3D blast is Definitely an underrated sonic game The only issue I had with the game is the flickeys but other than that the game was fun sonic Controlled exactly how he did in the classic sonic games, its fast pace, and the boss fights have a leval of Challenge.
Your enjoyment of 3D Blast is dependent on whether you can play through it's isometric perspective without feeling dizzy. Personally I've never had this problem so I was able to enjoy it and found it decent.
For Sonic 06’s story, everyone knows Shadow’s story was a banger. Silver’s story was interesting. He’s a character so optimistic about changing his future that he would accept any help even if it’s from the likes random strangers he can’t trust completely. Watching Silver go back in time, seeing his reaction to the world he could have is amazing to me. Hearing Silver call a desert beautiful is pretty bittersweet to hear. He even contemplated if killing was the right thing to do to save the future. His story really does go hard on his morality especially when he’s being manipulated. Sonic on the other hand feels like a complete character. He sounds more mature, almost like he’s been on so many adventures and grew as a person. If anything, Sonic’s story is more about Elise and how she grows from Sonic’s flat character arc. She had so much responsibility in her life after her father died so when sonic shows up, it’s almost like a dream she can escape into. Sonic even gives some great advice some of the fans misunderstand. It’s why at the end of Sonic’s story you don’t hear “HIS WORLD” but you listen to Elise’s theme. I loved the glitches btw 😂
I think the wii version of sonic unleashed is very underrated. It's mostly forgotten because there is a superior version but this version is really fun to play. The boost for the day stages are actually fun to use and is the only boost game to have a "nitro" boost thing where one tap sends you boosting forward instead of holding the boost button. The werehog may not be as fun as the HD version but in my opinion I think the level design in the wii version is a little better than the HD version. My only issue is the day and night stages aren't balanced properly and there are way more night stages than the day stages, unlike the HD version where 50% of the game is spent in day and night each
As someone who just beat that game for the first time a few days ago, after finding a copy in the back of my uncle's game collection a year ago and playing through it this past year, yeah I think that game is really fun, I like it a LOT. It is the only 3D Sonic game I've actually really played (I've technically played the first levels of SA1, SA2, Heroes, Shadow, and Colors on Dolphin but I didn't _really_ play those games) as I'm a newcomer to the series after being a Mario fan my whole life, my first Sonic game being Mania Plus, so I don't really have any other 3D Sonic games to compare it to, but just as a game on its own and the first 3D Sonic I've played, yeah that game is awesome, it's really fun and addicting, especially the daytime gameplay. Yeah there's a lot of Werehog levels but a. I didn't find the werehog bad, it was pretty fun even if it felt like less polished discount Mario with some beat 'em up moments, and b. I'd rather have several short werehog levels that were only a few minutes each than single really long 30-minute stages like I've heard Unleashed HD has. So yeah, I definitely think it's underrated and is a very good Sonic game and game in general based on what I have played and seen, though definitely play it with a GameCube controller or something like I did rather than Wiimote and Nunchuck where you shake to boost.
@@legoboy7107 the werehog levels in the HD version aren't even 30 minutes long. On average they are 5-10 minutes long when you master them. Maybe on first playthroughs you'll spend 20-30 minutes but it's only because the werehog is slow paced and many people wouldn't know the best combos to beat enemies faster
@@aahiljcat Yeah but that's what I mean, first playthroughs. In Unwiished the first playthrough of a given werehog stage is only a few minutes, heck you are timed in those stages so that if you DON'T beat it in under the level's requirement which is usually like 6 to 10 minutes you get a worse rank. I'd much rather have that at first than a first playthrough where the levels take 20 minutes, even if they're shorter on repeat playthroughs. But I could see based on what you've said the HD version of the werehog being more fun over time than the Wii one.
Shadow the hedgehog 2005 for Nintendo game cube I’m happy this game was mentioned in this video I highly doubt we’re gonna get a sequel at some point in the future
Black Knight, Rush trilogy, and the Advance trilogy are the most underrated in my opinion. The Rush trilogy and Advance trilogy are solid handheld experiences of the classic sonic and boost sonic era of games. And Black Knight is just solid overall, everything about the game is great except for the controls being sluggish at times but I can look past that for everything else being perfect
I'd have to go with Sonic Battle for my underrated Sonic game. A Sonic fighting game on the Game Boy Advance with a create-a-fighter you train up and turn OP with certain movesets. Also has a nice selection of characters to play as for the game it is, and minigames. I've seen indie games try to be like Smash Bros or other fighting games, but I know I'd immediately buy or back a Sonic Battle spiritual successor.
For me it's Sonic Colors DS, this game is great and has me coming back to it again and again. The wisps are better implementated into the level design compared to Colors Wii imo, and the game is just fun as all hell. The soundtrack still sounds great and sometimes better with the compression, the Burst wisp is my favorite wisp, and the final boss is better imo. Pick this game up and PLAY IT!
I personally think that zero gravity is the best game in the sonic riders series. While the gameplay is simplified, at least it gives you a much more structured experience when racing and it definitely has the better soundtrack out of the three imo
I agree, the level design, spectacle and speed is much better than the original riders, the level gimmicks in the original riders just slowed down the gameplay. And the original riders didn't really have accessible shortcuts, as it depended on which character you chose. However zero gravity uses the amazing gravity gimmick to implement shortcuts anyone can access, and the gravity gimmick is so cool to use
If we are talking about the most underrated Sonic Game I would go with Sonic CD, Sonic Heroes and Mainlines. There are a lot of Sonic Games you mentioned in this video and I think the most underrated Sonic Game is Sonic lost world. Great video Matt)
This may be a pick you haven't seen before, but I think Sonic Colors: Ultimate is underrated. I haven't seen anyone tear a game apart more than this one. But, me? I personally enjoy it a lot; so much that it's my favorite game ever. To keep things short, I just have a connection with this game that hasn't gone away. I have some great memories playing that have stuck with me even two years after it released. Connections go a long way in my rankings of games.
It's a pick no one has ever seen for sure, I wouldn't agree with it though, and it's frustrating to see Sonic fans accepting it, just speaks to low standards, like the game if you want, but just keep in mind your judgement alongside many others is capable of defining whether Sonic will go up or down in quality, in the eyes of many, the lack of effort to make this a polished product on SEGA's part is utterly unacceptable in so many different ways, and that is why the hate is completely justifiable, it honestly deserves so much more hate than it gets.
@@averagepsvitafan3838 It wasn't on SEGA. It was mainly on Blind Squirrel's management team not giving the devs nearly enough time to finish it. Just because the game is my favorite game ever doesn't mean I don't mind this practice continuing because I do. The last thing we need is another Sonic '06. In general, though, it doesn't take a lot for me to be pleased, but I do keep people's thoughts in mind and try to give criticism where it's needed. I completely understand everyone's complaints with the game, but I feel like the hate has gone on way too long to the point where I think people should just move on from it.
@@CSTH1I highly doubt any of this info is credible but if it was? Given this information(from a possibly credible source and not some internet rumors picked up by Sonic fans) I would rather argue it's on both, if blind squirrel was fine with publishing the product as it was then I suppose it is partially their fault, but if SEGA agreed and published the product(Spoiler alert: They did) then that is ON them, they are THE PUBLISHER, you can't blame the worker entirely if the boss is just as bad, it's up to SEGA what goes out there and what doesn't, and they chose to ship SCU.
"If you play Secret Rings on original hardware". Yeah, I'm not doing that. I apologize, but the way it originally was becomes more and more irrelevant when the original hardware is becoming more rare by the day and the game is not even sold anymore. It WAS bad, but it is fairly decent to good right now because controller imo. Anyone saying emulation ruins gaming is goofy.
In my opinion the most underrated sonic game is forces i really liked the gameplay and even though its short i really appreciate it.i got to give credit to lost world as well though
Late comment but as someone who only had a ps2 I think the fact that neither adventure game was on it but heroes was is why it sold so much tbh it was basically the best option you had as a sonic fan
I remember seeing the Sonic Riders trailer with my cousin and being hyped and then...having that subconscious feeling that we weren't really having that fun with it (because we sucked and were like...7 and 10). Bought it for myself 2 years later for my Gamecube and idk, something clicked. Learned how to play, got good and got 100% the game and then my cousins' younger brother and I somehow just started experimenting with the techs/shortcuts and that's when the game went from "aight, this slaps" to "YO, THIS SLAP!!!" From the way you slingshot in the direction you drifted in, to the hyper aggressive combat system (without the use of luck based items) to the way speed, power and fly shortcuts dip you in and out of different routes within the level, man...it's genuinely my favorite game in the series, mainline or spinoff. Riders DX, Regravitified and Free Riders with the controller patch pretty much renewed my interest in the sub-series. If I have to add anything else from watching the video, the branching path stage progression in shadow the hedgehog has so much untapped potential, but the story and mission requirements bogged it down severely. I picture it'd work for the classic series where story isn't as important and levels are shorter so you can have a flowchart of zone routes that slowly open up until it closes back to the final level. Something like Zone 1 -> 2A or 2B -> 3A (from 2A) 3B (from 2A/2B) or 3C (from 2B) -> 4A (from 3A), 4B (from 3A/3B), 4C (from 3B/3C) or 4D (from 3C) -> 5A (from 4A), 5B (from 4B/4C) or 5C (from 4C) -> 6A (from 5A/5B) or 6B (from 5B/5C) -> Zone 7 (from 6A/6B). The only goal to reaching your desired zone would be reaching the desired level goal post/path that'll take you there.
My pick has got to be Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. I feel like as if people just dislike it for not having that same high skill ceiling that the first Riders had, but to me the level design for Riders is a lot more fun, the gravity mechanic is so damn fun to mess with too. The story mode in my opinion is also really fun, just as good as the first. But the fact that you can play this game with your friends, give basic tutorials on gameplay, and both of you have a decently fun time without the other absolutely curb-stomping you from how much better than you they are, is what makes it so memorable to me. the OST is literally one of my favorite sonic osts as well.
I do not agree whatsoever that the "bad controls" part of Sonic Heroes is a bad argument. Switching to Tails to have a better time at the platforming challenges or just trying to NOT slip or fall off the edge is a flimsy band-aid on a gaping wound. The controls just suck. That's the argument. It doesn't matter if you are a speed, flight, or power character, the game doesn't control well enough for either of them. Yes, you can mitigate the issues with the controls by switching characters, but that's only mitigation. They are still bad controls.
Every character should control well. Every character should be able to complete even the most basic platforming challenges without slipping off the edge or falling off through no fault of their own.
If I had to give an underrated Sonic game that isn't in the video, I'd say Advance 2. Advance 2 has a huge focus on speed and encourages replaying levels constantly to get better at them like the classic games. The trick system and boost mode also add to the focus on maintaining your speed. It's essentially like an entirely 2D Unleashed with them even sharing a similar issue with the collectibles in levels not designed with exploration in mind (although it's not as bad for Advance 2 since that's just if you want to fight the true final boss rather than being locked out of progressing through the game).
Ok! Im gonna drop a bit of a bombshell here! One Sonic game in particular i personally feel a lot of the Sonic community doesnt know about that i think would fit the underrated category is Sonic Rivals! Now keep in mind i have not played any of the Sonic Rivals games but have seen a ton of footage and just basing off of what ive seen the game looked pretty good as it incorporated many of Sonic's friends and foes and had a rather interesting story to it for a PSP Game! The gameplay of both Sonic Rivals games remind me of both Sonic Rush games and is in a similar situation as those games and Sonic Unleashed where the critics just continue to misunderstand Sonic and the people that have played it loved it for what it was! Nothing groundbreaking of course
The Sonic Rush games are 2 of the few Sonic games that aren't called straight up bad disasters but rather existing with little to no people to ever talk about them they're just plain underrated nothing more nothing less
For me the most underrated is Sonic Boom Fire & Ice. Everyone forgot about it because Mania was just around the corner and after Shattered Crystal and Rise of Lyric nobody wanted to give it a chance, but it's a fantastic speedy 2D platformer that sold me a 3DS.
Glad to see that Shadow the Hedgehog was mentioned. As another youtuber has pointed out, the story respects the one of SA2/B while filling in the gaps of that story, mainly why would Gerald have a giant cannon when his goal of curing Maria never involved weapons of any kind in the first place. However, I personally would have to go with Sonic Chronicles as being underrated for pretty much the same reasons as Shadow the Hedgehog. It expands on the story of SA/DX giving a reason as to why the Knuckles clan did what they did, as well as answering where Emerl from Sonic Battle came from. It also puts more pressure on Knuckles character wise, with him being the only echidna and all.
for me Tails Adventure is the most underrated sonic game i think the reason it is so hated is because most people are not patient but the moment you accept that you should slow down and take your time with it , you will have one of the most accessible and relaxing "metroidvania" experiences ever
Sonic CD is not only one of the best sonic games but just also one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. A time travel mechanic that effects the levels presentation as you play through them is pretty damn cool. People just complain about the level design but they’re are meant to be explored. I know you can complete the game in 2 different ways but I’ve always preferred searching for those generators in the past
I think Sonic Advance 3 is underrated because I love the graphics, soundtrack, gameplay, and partner system my main complaint is finding things in the hub world Yet people say they like Advance 1 and 2 more than 3 and I feel like nobody really talks about Advance 3 Now to completely ruin my opinion I think Sonic Blast is also underrated because the controls were responsive I didn't really see anything wrong with the level design besides the water level and the levels being short (It was on weaker hardware so I will give it a pass) I also love how they gave Sonic a double jump That's all for me
If there's one I can mention, is Sonic Lost World 3DS. Sure, the game itself gets somewhat worse the further it goes on, but I can actually bypass it because, well, I played similar games and I didn't mind the sudden difficulty increase. Also, I personally have a way to do the Special Stages in a more comfortable way: Get a chair with wheels that you can spin, sit in it and you'll not have to move like crazy.
Honesty Sonic Riders Zero Gravity. Because when people are talking about the Riders games they are either talking about the first game or how bad Free Riders was.
Okay hear me out... Sonic Drift 2. When I first played Sonic Drift 2 I was like "This game is better than Super Mario Kart", and here is why I think that. First, the controls of Sonic Drift 2 are infinitely better than Super Mario Kart (once you know how to drift by pressing A and B at the same time, and I specify that, because I feel like some people don't know that), and in fact, they are better than 64, Super Circuit, and even DS if I have to be perfectly honest. Second, the track variety and creativity is much grander. Seriously, Sonic Drift 2 has many great ideas for gimmicks and locations for its tracks, that it puts Super Mario Kart to shame. Heck, it even had sectioned tracks years before Mario Kart 7 introduced them the Mario Kart franchise. Those are pretty much the main reasons why Sonic Drift 2 is better than Super Mario Kart, but if we analyze both games even further it only solidifies this. In terms of visuals, I think Sonic Drift 2 has more beautiful tracks for the console it is on than Super Mario Kart. One of the biggest problems of Sonic Drift 2 would be the fact that its CPUs are big fucking cheaters that rubberband and spam items when they are close to you, but the Super Mario Kart CPUs are big fucking cheaters too, partly because they ALSO spam items when they are close to you. After that, what does Super Mario Kart has that Sonic Drift 2 has? I guess Sonic Drift 2 due to the Game Gear's limitation has a bad horizon and can make it hard to react to obstacles, but even then it's not that bad, especially with how surprisingly good the controls are to react accordingly. Basically Sonic Drift 2 might be less important to video game history than Super Mario Kart, but as games themselves Sonic Drift 2 is just more fun for me. In fact, maybe I like it more than Mario Kart 64 but let's not enter that Rabbit Hole. For an old Game Gear racing game, they were really kind of cooking with Sonic Drift 2. Sonic Drift 1 sucks though. Sonic Drift 1 has 3 variants of 6 super boring tracks, no items, and pretty much only has the good controls going for it.
I think one of the most underrated Sonic games is sonic pocket adventure. Its a pretty good-looking game and I may say it was a proto-sonic mania of sorts. Nobody talks abt it, its simply non-existent for some people
Sonic Battle has a great story, incredible powers for the characters that should be reused on Smash bros, and is overall a great game, even with all it's limitations. Sonic chronicles is great too! It too has a great story, incredible worldbuilding that expands Sonic's universe more than any mainline game and is an RPG, something that Sonic is missing. It has even more problems than Battle, but it is a great game too.
Hot take. Sonic 3D Blast. Soundtrack's a banger, game isn't buggy, the best iteration of the halfpipe, exploration is aplenty. People just hate it because it's so drastically different from the others in it's isometric approach. The game is great and I stand by it.
Also defense of Sonic 06. Contrary to popular opinion, it isn't the worst in the series. And I'm not talking about Rise of Lyric either, I'm talking about SEGA of america's attempt at outdoing the wrong record in the exact same year as Sonic 06, and that's Sonic Genesis GBA. They took a classic hit that was already ported to the Saturn, PS2, GameCube, Xbox, PC and Dreamcast, and somehow made it 1000x worse. The screen crunch, numerous bugs and the horrendous soundtrack. 06 and even Sonic Boom only had 1 of these 3 issues, and these are only the tip of the iceberg in Sonic Genesis GBA. I don't call it a game, I call it an endurance test.
Sonic heroes you have to play the game four times for the true same with Sonic Advance 2 but I say its worst cause the special stages requirements were hard to achieve and the rewards are not worth if.
If I’m being honest, I would say sonic 4 (specifically episode two) I never hated the gameplay, or the soundtrack, and I liked the elements like the homing attack, and the fact that they added features to the tornado. But I will say the only bad parts about the game is the bosses, and the special stages.
@@coconutgun325 well I will admit, there are some bosses I do like like metal’s first boss, and the boss in oil desert. But to be honest I haven’t played the 2000s era sonic games in months so for all I know,I don’t know what I’m talking about right now.
18:42 thank you for mentioning broken that song is not talked about nearly enough, not enough people have heard it, it is the number 1 most underrated sonic song ever
Same. Lost World is good. I get and agree with some of the issues, but to say the game is bad is just unfair. I think the boost games (except Forces) and adventure games are better, but it's still a 6.5/10 game I think. I'll take that over Mario Sunshine honestly.
i've said this once and I'll say it again, og sonic riders should get the crash tean racing nitro fueled treament with tracks and characters from both games, new tracks, new characters, skins, content updates, online multiplayer
if i'm honest, i think sonic 1 is underrated, mostly (HOT TAKE) marble zone, but i think the main reason people doesn't like it and found it slow are the block on the lava, there are 5/6 of them in the zone and if you don't use momentum, it will be EXTREMELY slow, but if you get enough momentum (yes momentum exist on marble zone) you can get to the other blocks and skip the slow parts, for 4/5 of them, but there things i don't like about this zone, the block who can't get skip and the last spike of act 3 when you get him by it, you need to re-do a part of the level (labyrinth zone is still bad though ima not defend it). + marble zone music is still pretty damn good.
@@Nic_2751 yes it's the most popular sonic game who existed, but i'm talking underrated by the actual fanbase opinion, not critics opinion, lot of people said than the game doesn't aged well and than only green hill is good, but for me starlight (my favorite zone in the game) and SOMEHOW marble zone are great, scrap brain (if you took act 3 beggining shortcut atleast) and spring yard are good, but even though labyrinth zone is bad, for me there are worse levels in my opinion in the classics game (metropolis, sky chase and MORE IMPORTANTLY Sandopolis which is in my opinion the worst zone of all the classics game, IT'S SLOWER THAN LABYRINTH ZONE SOMEHOW IT TOOK ME ALMOST 8 MINUTES TO FINISH IT LAST TIME I PLAYED SONIC 3&K). so yes it's popular but i saw more people hating it than loving it.
I like Sonic and the Secret Rings. Sonic was characterized very well. The game looks really cool. It has HARD levels (which most of the time is a good thing). There definitely is super annoying levels, and the story overall sucked, but me and my friend played the whole thing through and mostly enjoyed it. I hope to replay it soon. P.S. The final and second to final bosses were SUPER HARD and mostly really cool (except the whole smashing Erazor genies exposed heart, which was surprisingly violent and un-kid friendly for a Sonic game. Ages 10+ at least.
I know you said this is a wrong opinion, but I agree with Sonic Free Riders being underrated. That game is one of the first Kinect games I got, and I had a lot of fun playing it. I'm not going to say it wasn't an occasional rage-inducing game, because I definitely had some moments where controlling it was ABYSMAL, but it was still a fun guilty pleasure!
I love the first Riders game a lot and after spending $80 AUD on a GameCube copy a year ago, I decided to 100% it for the first time. I really enjoyed the first 20 hrs or so I spent getting Gold on all 100 missions but after that, it’s repetitiveness becomes extremely apparent. Having to log the 50hrs for the final unlockable character and grinding the Grand Prix for rings to buy every gear is such a slog. I wouldn’t call Riders a masterpiece myself, nor would I give it a 10/10 but it’s definitely a fantastic racing game worthy of an 8.5 or so imo. I just let it sit on the shelf now cos I ain’t touching it for a good while after completing it haha. Oh and Sonic UnWiished is definitely an underrated title.
5:20 MURDER DRONES FAN SPOTTED LETS GOO Also I agree that Sonic Lost World is heavily underrated. It's not exceptional by any means but it's a fun game to pick up and play. It's a basic gateway game for people who aren't Sonic fans and I think they accomplished that well. It mostly uses what has already been established in 3d platforming so it's also probably the most polished. Though I love Sonic for always trying to do something new, sometimes you don't need to fix what ain't broken
It's a shameless Mario rip-off that released on a miserable failure of a console, and is one of the few instances where critics and fans agree on its problems. It did no favors for the series
I know it’s a very recent example, but I think sonic superstars is pretty underrated. It’s fairly new and no one’s really talking about it. Which is probably due to the game not doing anything really unique or interesting. I don’t think it’s amazing, but so still think that it’s pretty good for what it is. Sure, the music can be mid at times and the bosses can be tedious, but I think you can get used to all that by replaying the game. I don’t usually like rating games, but if I had to, I’d probably give it a 7.5/10. (Maybe an 8 on a good day)
Agreed. Sonic Superstars is also one of my favorite Sonic games. It’s just fun, and when it comes to gaming, that’s honestly all I care about at the end of the day.
@@jettsett9354 I’m saying how it doesn’t do anything interesting to the untrained eye. The game has a lot of different quirks, which you’ll realize if you actually sit down and play the game
@@cosmotheclown5579 you shouldn't need a "trained eye" to enjoy a game, my dude. If you need to actively look for positives in something then maybe it just isn't that good.
@@jettsett9354 I didn’t find good things about the game by actively looking for it. I played it, and enjoyed it. To have a trained eye in this case would mean to find what the game does well through simply playing it. In no play through of mine was I actively looking for things to like, I just like the game
Sonic Chaos is a great game that gets dismissed as that one sonic game on the game gear that was probably trash. That game has a lot of good levels, music and some things like the bosses and special stages can be fun too yet nobody talks about it.
My underrated choice is shadow the hedgehog People says the controls are slippery and shadow having guns results in a bad game, but i think shadow having a gun fits his personality and the controls aren't as slippery as they say and the choice to be a good or bad guy is awesome
Every Sonic game is either overrated or underrated. I knew this guy who said that Sonic Adventure was the best game ever and got mad when I said it was decent. Your guy's opinion to either its too good or to bad.
I don’t like lost world. At least the Wii U version. I got to the 2 world and still have yet to finish it. Someday I will finish it. My mine issue is having to always hold the run button. You just move to slow without it and after holding it for so long my hand hurts. I like the parkour and honestly think if they changed it to no run button and you just hold it to parkour I’d like it better but that’s my opinion.
I really think Sonic Riders is underrated,or at least unpopular to say at least for what the Riders saga has to offer. Here we have floating skateboards instead of some generic ass cars, and the tricks mechanic is awesome,I preffer it over Zero Gravity for that reason. Riders didn't deserve to die because of Sonic Free Riders.
riders has this style thats screams "this is a sonic racing game, we are doing our own instead of mario kart clone" and took full advantage of it the inclusion of the rogues makes it's presence feel natural and feel like it's part of the series DNA unlike TSR where it doesn't really do much in the way other than referencing heroes
Despite it getting a lot of hate mainly due to the game it is paired up with I personally think sonic and the black knight it both underrated and overhated yes the controls are garbage that’s rather undeniable but I think literally everything else ranges from good to amazing like I can guarantee that if this wasn’t on the Wii and on the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3 it would be much more liked it has a interesting and very well done story some very nice looking graphics and unique cutscenes very good usage of old characters and some great new characters with merlina in particular being the best villain in the series that isn’t eggman ( yes metal sonic is good but his large under usage hinders him for me ) and the music is honestly some of my favourite in the whole series like with me is a top 3 sonic song I really wish it didn’t get so much hate the 2 storybook games would not get as much hate if they had good controls I would not call sonic and the black knight my favourite game heck I’d only barely put it in my top 10 but I genuinely prefer it over the adventure games heroes and I believe I enjoy it more then colours tho I don’t quite remember tho honestly this is far from my biggest hot take involving sonic stuff I think forces is good albeit with a lot of wasted potential ( bros should have just adapted the metal virus arc ) I think sonic 06 despite being very flawed is a good game tho not that good ( hope project 06 works out well ) I think sonic cd is one of my top 10 sonic games and I will never understand the hate for it cream the rabbit is my second favourite sonic character behind eggman and deserves none of the hate she’s gotten ( before you ask fleetway sonic is my third favourite character ) and shadow the hedgehog is the worst sonic game and is the only reason shadow is seen as “edgy” plus it’s just god awful it makes 06 look like sonic 2 but that’s just me I’ll be surprised if people agree with me get this to 100 likes and I’ll make a big ass comment elaborating my thoughts tho I doubt this will get that many likes
I think the most underrated Sonic game is Sonic R. Sure, it's not perfect. It is short and the physics can get annoying, but the level design is great. It is quite unique and challenging that you have to keep your speed while also searching for collectibles. I would personally love another racing game like this.
There are so many underated sonic games . but for me if I had pick one game I have to say sonic unwiished. Don't get me wrong it's not has good as the HD version. But give the wii version some credit. The boost levels are the best levels dimps have ever made. The level design is amazing it's so much better than colours and forces. The night levels are pretty decent if you use a pro controller.
06 - 8/10 Forces - 7/10 Sonic 4: Episode II - 9/10 Rise of Lyric - 6/10 Lost World - 7/10 Secret Rings and Black Knight are both 8/10s in books Knuckles Chaotix - 7/10 Sonic Shuffle - 6/10 Sonic Rivals - 6/10 Free Riders - 5/10 (not the usual 2/10 I see regularly) Those are my peaks, I understand pretty much none of the hate towards a lot of these games.
Come on bro this became a part of your life I see you always commenting about sonic schoolhouse it’s a good joke when you say it the first time but now it’s cringy
I agree on CD. Y'all are still running on Donkey Kong brain thinking Sonic is about getting from Point A to point B, when in reality it's about maintaining flow, which CD does better than basically any Sonic game ever made.
It's so funny watching fandom view change over the years and shift around. I remember Heroes being touted as masterclass and Unleashed being utter dogshit and if u liked it you were practically burnt at the stake. Could definitely be chocked up to certain circles but generally I do feel like each and every game goes through a similar roundabout cycle. And I can't say I'm even like upset or anything about that at this point, it's simply how it is and I think recency bias is also a very real thing. Like 06 has been touted as one of the worst games of all time just because of the abysmal state it came out in, understandably, but it's funny seeing how every few years a new game would almost "challenge" that. First when Lost World came out people were comparing it and 06 and now Forces gets it's shot at taking the crown, which personally I don't think it ever will. But it's also wild thinking about how, if 06 came out in today's gaming sphere, it would likely not be hounded as nearly hard as it was in 2006 solely because SO many games are launching just as broken and shoddy as it did, but that's another tangent for another day. Forces is mid. The controls work fine but the layout is beyond bland and short. Nothing breaks, really, and the visuals are okay in the set dressing and shader department for the most part, but the models outside of Infinite just seem dry in it. Then the writing imo is around Lost World's level---wanting to aim for something deeping but being bogged down in development and coming out shallow, stunted, and a waste of potential. Infinite is an utterly TRAGIC waste of a good villain design, powers, and voice talent and the avatar is a fun step in a different direction that suits the fans. But the inclusion of Classic Sonic and shoddy tie-in to Mania just ruins so much--and I will say that HE is the exception to the decent controls, he feels like DOGSHIT to play as and is SO unnecessarily heavy. I got S's and collected all the star rings in every stage except for Iron Forttress or whatever that stupid final level of his is just because it's So Awful to play as. I can handle bad controls for a lot of games--it's not high priority for my enjoyment bc jank can be funny to me in its own right--but that was just. too annoying. Anyways, the rest of Forces is okay, I like the OST and Infinite still goes hard as well as the Episode Shadow remixes 👍But I didnt mean to mini-review Forces in the comments LMFAO My personal underrated favorite is 1000% Sonic and the Black Knight. I think that, out of the two storybook games, the controls--while definitely not perfect--are much better in SatBK than Secret Rings (ew) and swords are fun so instant win there. The setting is also very unique and while some of the castle segments don't stand out super strong, I do love Camelot in general and all the mysticism and Ruins as well as the gorgeous caves and volcanic/mines levels. It's easily one of the best written versions of Sonic's character aside from Unleashed, it has a gorgeous art style, the story is SO fun with a surprising amount of existentialism dealing with enjoying time to its fullest as well as just an all out banger OST. Live Life by Crush 40 still gives me chills EASY! So it takes the cake for me :]
Sonic Rush Adventure is the most under rated (imo, but I love the sailing parts so maybe it's just me) Sonic Lost World is the most over-hated. It's very fun
Kind of surprising Sonic Pocket Adventure isn't on this list. While I've personally never played the game, I've seen many people say that it's a good Sonic game.
Sonic CD is the most underrated sonic game, people always make fun of the levels or the bosses or even majin. To be honest without sonic CD I will not be the sonic fan that I am today. Sonic CD is better than sonic 3k
I'd say Sonic Heroes...but going by only games not mentioned in this video: I'd go with the Sonic racing games, more precisely: Sonic and All-Stars Racing, Transformed and Team Sonic Racing for some reason the Sonic fanbase love to hate on the Sonic racing games just because Sonic's in a car but these 3 are very good racing games with Transformed begin the best in my opinion and even tho I like Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing more, I still think these games are absolutely amazing racing games looking away from the racing titles I might go with Sonic Chronicles the Dark Brotherhood on the DS haven't played it a long time now, but I played it so much as a kid, I literally replayed the story so many times (even tho the first few times I completely missed Omega and didn't get him added to the roster) but it has one of my favorite Shadow moments ever! About how he cares for Omega and wanne beat up the bad guys just because of what they did to his friend and Shadow literally calls Omega his friend. Something I don't recall him ever doing in any other game (he probably does in the comics, but far as I remember he never if rarely does that in the games) another I can mention is the Sonic Rivals games, Idk I have a soft spot for them, and even tho I played Rush Adventure on DS, and later Shadow's story in Sonic 06, Sonic Riders is what introduced me to Eggman Nega and Silver in the first place anyway I still like them for what they are and Nega turning Sonic's friends into cards was a very interesting idea to say the least anyway I totally agree with Riders, I would love to see them bring back Sonic Riders and the Babylon team (Jet, Wave and Storm) as they're never seen again except in the Mario and Sonic games, least for Jet and Wave
I would argue transformed does have some standout, mainly for straight up dominating the title of "best racing game on pc" and arguably still does along with that they put a bunch of add-ons on the pc port with exclusives. the 1st game and TSR i would say do fall in underrated category, 1st game does have charm it's just has the vanilla mario kart thing with it's tiems but stuff like the race commentator and like with riders 1 has a lot of personality of the roster, TSR also does this but it's lack of support to keep the game alive made it feel like a been there and done that
I feel like it’s not necessarily that these issues don’t matter to these people it’s more like the game just straight up does exist for some of the people who play them. I feel like Shadow the Hedgehog controls horribly in comparison to Sonic Heroes because I can rap my head around that game in comparison. I think there is just a disconnect in some people that doesn’t exist in others.
This video seemed a little pointless. Why have people commision for what their underated sonic games are if you aren't gonna try and see things from their perspective. I dont like froces as much as generations or frontires but I can see why people like it, the wisp abilities are good and adds replay value along with the tag team sections. And unleashed is pretty good and Im glad they explore combat in a high speed platformer.
IF SONIC UNLEASHED WII IS NOT IN THIS ILL BE MAD Edit: the bad controls of heroes is the movement physics not just the buttons My problem with lost world is it removed the boost formula but I love the game on its own If forces was built off of generations it would have been amazing but it was built of lost world. I’m gonna learn game development just you wait I’m gonna remake it Sonic colours is a 2d game fight me SONIC RIDERS IS W PEEEEEEEEEEAAAK Sonic 1 was good when I was bad cus I couldn’t get past the green hill boss and whenever I played it felt like a massive playground to explore and I still think green hill solos most sonic 3 and cd levels fight me again but when I got good marble killed the game for me, but when I got sonic 1 forever I beat it with a smile on my face tainted by labrynth zone ptsd SONIC BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!! 06 had good level design thanks p-06 and the story had an interesting idea but princess elise had to exist Sonic CD exists- We got close with sonic unleashed the 🐐 bc sonic unleashed is the best but no unleashed wii😢 Pariah695 explained perfectly what I liked about sonic unleashed wii
Im my opinion i think sonic battle is my pick for most underrated not because its amasing or anithing but its just i never see anithing about it and i think there shold be at least some peaple that say something about it.( sorry english isent my first language)
Sonic & The Black Knight was the best depiction of Sonic's character we ever got, none can convince me otherwise.
Absolute facts
Amen, brother.
I mean frontiers got his character pretty good
Facts
I too am a fan of Heroes. Plus…friggin Team Chaotix is the goat.
I loved Heroes too.
Heroes Bad
Need more Heroes slander, that is not a fun game to play. That's on the same tier as Shadow if I'm being real even if it's slightly higher on that tier
If we’re being fair here, the most underrated mainline games, could be probably go to CD, Heroes, or say the handheld ports of console games, but they’re all definitely fairly acknowledged and favored, so really it’s up to spin offs like 8 bit, racers, or other character games, which is harder to choose.
CD is overrated. Some of the worst level design in the series
@@andarilho_31 CD is far from overrated, you cannot just throw the word around like that, it’s literally labeled the black sheep for a reason
@@andarilho_31 ima ask to you, did you explored the level by going to the past and destroy the generators or did ONLY the special stages for finish the game (or didn't did both of those).
@@Nic_2751 CD is to classic Sonic what Zelda II is to classic Zelda.
@@enzo-ib2gy I did both of 'em
Sonic fans being goofy, never stopped.
Wellll.. either that, or they just didn't like the garbage writing or the horrible parkour gimmick, lmao.
Sometimes, the fanbase has a right to be upset.. and Lost World was definitely one of these times.
@@Maubari
The writing is not particularly more of a damning factor than several other games(Plus a good amount of the fanbase claims the series would be better without cutscenes anyways)and "horrible parkour gimmick" even tho everyone and their mother admits that is the game's strong point, even the people hating the game.
Imagine being this unserious just to hate on a game. If you don't like it, then sure enough, but the same logic can be stretched into the infamous "3D Sonic was always bad" real quick.
@@lpfan4491 Sonic "Fans" hated 3D sonic since adventure 1
@@andarilho_31 i had fun with the game tbh and the level design wasn't that complicated, i personally think that game is overlooked
My only issue is the day and night stages aren't balanced properly and there are way more night stages than the day stages, unlike the HD version where 50% of the game is spent in day and night each
Nothing Unwiished Ultimate couldn't fix with enough of an attempt being made.(I really need that remake in my life)
As someone who just beat that game for the first time a few days ago, after finding a copy in the back of my uncle's game collection a year ago and playing through it this past year, yeah I think that game is really fun, I like it a LOT.
@@legoboy7107 *Classic controller, it has the better buttom mapping overall.
Shadow the hedgehog 2005 for Nintendo game cube I’m happy this game was mentioned in this video
I highly doubt we’re gonna get a sequel at some point in the future
Black Knight, Rush trilogy, and the Advance trilogy are the most underrated in my opinion. The Rush trilogy and Advance trilogy are solid handheld experiences of the classic sonic and boost sonic era of games. And Black Knight is just solid overall, everything about the game is great except for the controls being sluggish at times but I can look past that for everything else being perfect
Advance trilogy is wellrated to.Theres like a few people that says advance is mid
Also rush trilogy?Arent there 2 rush games(dont tell me you counted colors ds)
I'd have to go with Sonic Battle for my underrated Sonic game. A Sonic fighting game on the Game Boy Advance with a create-a-fighter you train up and turn OP with certain movesets. Also has a nice selection of characters to play as for the game it is, and minigames. I've seen indie games try to be like Smash Bros or other fighting games, but I know I'd immediately buy or back a Sonic Battle spiritual successor.
Finally game that is actually underrated AND overhated!
I'd also go with its predecessor by the legendary AM2, Sonic the Fighters. Simple but fun and frantic gameplay with amazing sound and art direction
@@piranhalettuce Battle isn't hated but nobody played it so it's gets underrated
I feel like Sonic Colors DS is very underrated. Sure, people that played it liked it, but it's not super well known the way the other Rush games are.
Sonic Heroes was my first Sonic game I played, easily one of my favorites, along with Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Riders
Sonic Boom Fire and Ice totally underrated its really fun and has a great flow
This may be a pick you haven't seen before, but I think Sonic Colors: Ultimate is underrated. I haven't seen anyone tear a game apart more than this one. But, me? I personally enjoy it a lot; so much that it's my favorite game ever. To keep things short, I just have a connection with this game that hasn't gone away. I have some great memories playing that have stuck with me even two years after it released. Connections go a long way in my rankings of games.
I honestly liked it. I had no issues
Given this information(from a possibly credible source and not some internet rumors picked up by Sonic fans)
I would rather argue it's on both, if blind squirrel was fine with publishing the product as it was then I suppose it is partially their fault, but if SEGA agreed and published the product(Spoiler alert: They did) then that is ON them, they are THE PUBLISHER, you can't blame the worker entirely if the boss is just as bad, it's up to SEGA what goes out there and what doesn't, and they chose to ship SCU.
@@averagepsvitafan3838 I actually didn't think about that... 😅
Anyone saying emulation ruins gaming is goofy.
completely agree with you on lost world, especially the parkour. i thought i was crazy lol
Sonic Forces is good tho, I like the controls and the graphics of the stages
Learned how to play, got good and got 100% the game and then my cousins' younger brother and I somehow just started experimenting with the techs/shortcuts and that's when the game went from "aight, this slaps" to "YO, THIS SLAP!!!"
From the way you slingshot in the direction you drifted in, to the hyper aggressive combat system (without the use of luck based items) to the way speed, power and fly shortcuts dip you in and out of different routes within the level, man...it's genuinely my favorite game in the series, mainline or spinoff.
The most underrated Sonic game imo is both Sonic and the Secret Rings & Sonic Advance 3.
@@SpeedyBlur2000Yeah, I Agree. Sonic Heroes is suck because the controls...
Especially the PS2 version...
What really brings down lost world for me is the wisp gimics
The Sonic Rush games are 2 of the few Sonic games that aren't called straight up bad disasters but rather existing with little to no people to ever talk about them they're just plain underrated nothing more nothing less
For me the most underrated is Sonic Boom Fire & Ice. Everyone forgot about it because Mania was just around the corner and after Shattered Crystal and Rise of Lyric nobody wanted to give it a chance, but it's a fantastic speedy 2D platformer that sold me a 3DS.
Dang Betty is a menace
The cat like the college dropout with the white bg
Sonic chronicles was hated because of the ost, controls and graphics
for me Tails Adventure is the most underrated sonic game
i think the reason it is so hated is because most people are not patient
but the moment you accept that you should slow down and take your time with it , you will have one of the most accessible and relaxing "metroidvania" experiences ever
I never heard anybody hating on Tails Adventure, people just go "oh hey that's a neat metroidvania starting tails" and forget about the game.
9:09 best line ever
Sonic CD is not only one of the best sonic games but just also one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. A time travel mechanic that effects the levels presentation as you play through them is pretty damn cool. People just complain about the level design but they’re are meant to be explored. I know you can complete the game in 2 different ways but I’ve always preferred searching for those generators in the past
Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, Sonic And The Secret Rings And Sonic Chaos are truly underrated sonic games ❤
I think Sonic Advance 3 is underrated because I love the graphics, soundtrack, gameplay, and partner system my main complaint is finding things in the hub world
Yet people say they like Advance 1 and 2 more than 3 and I feel like nobody really talks about Advance 3
Now to completely ruin my opinion I think Sonic Blast is also underrated because the controls were responsive I didn't really see anything wrong with the level design besides the water level and the levels being short (It was on weaker hardware so I will give it a pass) I also love how they gave Sonic a double jump
That's all for me
If there's one I can mention, is Sonic Lost World 3DS.
Nobody talks abt it, its simply non-existent for some people
crazy how nobody talked about Sonic 4 Episode II
My top 3 picks are Sonic Colors, Sonic Heroes and Sonic Lost World.
If I’m being honest, I would say sonic 4 (specifically episode two)
I never hated the gameplay, or the soundtrack, and I liked the elements like the homing attack, and the fact that they added features to the tornado.
But I will say the only bad parts about the game is the bosses, and the special stages.
Hol'up right there!Episode 2 had some of the best and creative bosses
You can't be serious, Sonic just isn't good compared to Mario
i've said this once and I'll say it again, og sonic riders should get the crash tean racing nitro fueled treament with tracks and characters from both games, new tracks, new characters, skins, content updates, online multiplayer
if i'm honest, i think sonic 1 is underrated, mostly (HOT TAKE) marble zone, but i think the main reason people doesn't like it and found it slow are the block on the lava, there are 5/6 of them in the zone and if you don't use momentum, it will be EXTREMELY slow, but if you get enough momentum (yes momentum exist on marble zone) you can get to the other blocks and skip the slow parts, for 4/5 of them, but there things i don't like about this zone, the block who can't get skip and the last spike of act 3 when you get him by it, you need to re-do a part of the level (labyrinth zone is still bad though ima not defend it). + marble zone music is still pretty damn good.
and maybe i'm one of the only people on earth who didn't find marble zone THAT slow
@@enzo-ib2gy ok but like, it’s arguably the most well known sonic game, it can’t be underrated because it’s too popular and historical
Sonic Shuffle because people never play it long enough to give it a true chance.
Sonic Advanced 2/3, Sonic Rush Adventure, and Sonic CD are all underrated
I think heroes is underrated just bc we get to play as the other characters, neo metal sonic, and I like it’s astethic
5:20 MURDER DRONES FAN SPOTTED LETS GOO
Also I agree that Sonic Lost World is heavily underrated.
The Sonic Rivals series was pretty fun
"Which is probably due to the game not doing anything really unique or interesting" Sooooo... Not underrated.
Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed is severely underrated imo.
Sonic 06.
My underrated choice is shadow the hedgehog
People says the controls are slippery and shadow having guns results in a bad game, but i think shadow having a gun fits his personality and the controls aren't as slippery as they say and the choice to be a good or bad guy is awesome
I'm being forgotten in those channel members 😢
My bad, we'll correct this. You'll be added in the next one! Thanks for supporting the channel!
0:12 Mr Needlemouse Cameo
Hmm I feel like I saw a needle mouse in there...
06 - 8/10
Forces - 7/10
Sonic 4: Episode II - 9/10
Rise of Lyric - 6/10
Lost World - 7/10
Secret Rings and Black Knight are both 8/10s in books
Knuckles Chaotix - 7/10
Sonic Shuffle - 6/10
Sonic Rivals - 6/10
Free Riders - 5/10 (not the usual 2/10 I see regularly)
Those are my peaks, I understand pretty much none of the hate towards a lot of these games.
Bro change his thumbnail and thought we wouldn’t notice
The most underrated sonic game is sonics schoolhouse
Come on bro this became a part of your life I see you always commenting about sonic schoolhouse it’s a good joke when you say it the first time but now it’s cringy
@@Mohamed58290 cringe is temporary but Sonics schoolhouse is forever.
I agree on CD. Y'all are still running on Donkey Kong brain thinking Sonic is about getting from Point A to point B, when in reality it's about maintaining flow, which CD does better than basically any Sonic game ever made.
I'll say it. I love Sonic Forces.
Anyways, the rest of Forces is okay, I like the OST and Infinite still goes hard as well as the Episode Shadow remixes 👍But I didnt mean to mini-review Forces in the comments LMFAO
My personal underrated favorite is 1000% Sonic and the Black Knight.
Sonic Rush Adventure is the most under rated (imo, but I love the sailing parts so maybe it's just me)
Sonic Lost World is the most over-hated.
I'd say Sonic Heroes...but going by only games not mentioned in this video:
I'd go with the Sonic racing games, more precisely: Sonic and All-Stars Racing, Transformed and Team Sonic Racing
for some reason the Sonic fanbase love to hate on the Sonic racing games just because Sonic's in a car
but these 3 are very good racing games with Transformed begin the best in my opinion
and even tho I like Mario Kart and Crash Team Racing more, I still think these games are absolutely amazing racing games
looking away from the racing titles I might go with Sonic Chronicles the Dark Brotherhood on the DS
haven't played it a long time now, but I played it so much as a kid, I literally replayed the story so many times (even tho the first few times I completely missed Omega and didn't get him added to the roster) but it has one of my favorite Shadow moments ever! About how he cares for Omega and wanne beat up the bad guys just because of what they did to his friend and Shadow literally calls Omega his friend. Something I don't recall him ever doing in any other game (he probably does in the comics, but far as I remember he never if rarely does that in the games)
another I can mention is the Sonic Rivals games, Idk I have a soft spot for them, and even tho I played Rush Adventure on DS, and later Shadow's story in Sonic 06, Sonic Riders is what introduced me to Eggman Nega and Silver in the first place
anyway I still like them for what they are and Nega turning Sonic's friends into cards was a very interesting idea to say the least
anyway I totally agree with Riders, I would love to see them bring back Sonic Riders and the Babylon team (Jet, Wave and Storm)
as they're never seen again except in the Mario and Sonic games, least for Jet and Wave
I would argue transformed does have some standout, mainly for straight up dominating the title of "best racing game on pc" and arguably still does along with that they put a bunch of add-ons on the pc port with exclusives. the 1st game and TSR i would say do fall in underrated category, 1st game does have charm it's just has the vanilla mario kart thing with it's tiems but stuff like the race commentator and like with riders 1 has a lot of personality of the roster, TSR also does this but it's lack of support to keep the game alive made it feel like a been there and done that
Matt is literally so based for his opinion on the og sonic riders
justice for the vinyl 😔
I feel like it’s not necessarily that these issues don’t matter to these people it’s more like the game just straight up does exist for some of the people who play them. I feel like Shadow the Hedgehog controls horribly in comparison to Sonic Heroes because I can rap my head around that game in comparison. I think there is just a disconnect in some people that doesn’t exist in others.
cats do that when they need attention or don't get enough attention
A lot of these arguments seem blinded by nostalgia.
Day one of asking for a video about the Sonic X Leapster game
Sonic 06 honestly isn’t half bad
More Betty please she a good kitty
This video seemed a little pointless. Why have people commision for what their underated sonic games are if you aren't gonna try and see things from their perspective. I dont like froces as much as generations or frontires but I can see why people like it, the wisp abilities are good and adds replay value along with the tag team sections. And unleashed is pretty good and Im glad they explore combat in a high speed platformer.
Why haven’t anybody mentioned Sonic Advance 3 ;-;
IF SONIC UNLEASHED WII IS NOT IN THIS ILL BE MAD
Edit: the bad controls of heroes is the movement physics not just the buttons
My problem with lost world is it removed the boost formula but I love the game on its own
If forces was built off of generations it would have been amazing but it was built of lost world.
I’m gonna learn game development just you wait I’m gonna remake it
Sonic colours is a 2d game fight me
SONIC RIDERS IS W PEEEEEEEEEEAAAK
Sonic 1 was good when I was bad cus I couldn’t get past the green hill boss and whenever I played it felt like a massive playground to explore and I still think green hill solos most sonic 3 and cd levels fight me again but when I got good marble killed the game for me, but when I got sonic 1 forever I beat it with a smile on my face tainted by labrynth zone ptsd
SONIC BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!
06 had good level design thanks p-06 and the story had an interesting idea but princess elise had to exist
Sonic CD exists-
We got close with sonic unleashed the 🐐 bc sonic unleashed is the best but no unleashed wii😢
Pariah695 explained perfectly what I liked about sonic unleashed wii
Sonic superstars is the most underrated Sonic game.
Im my opinion i think sonic battle is my pick for most underrated not because its amasing or anithing but its just i never see anithing about it and i think there shold be at least some peaple that say something about it.( sorry english isent my first language)
