Thanks for sharing your time in Maui with us! It's always great to see the kids and Alexander in your posts. I really enjoyed the scenery and gorgeous flowers you shared in your footage. 🌺🌸 I love gardening, and seeing the variety of plants and trees in other parts of the world is fun. I hope you are well recovered from the sleep, sun, and knee issues you were experiencing. sometimes I think I should pad the end of out of town vacations with at least one or two recovery days since I'm usually pretty wiped out! 😊 I've watched this after the terrible fires on Maui and you may have some of the last video of how some of the island looked 'before' - it's heartbreaking to hear the reports of so much devastation.💔😔
My packing tips. I travel solo so over the 5 days before flying I start throwing things I would need in a pile on the floor. Every time I remember or come across something I might need it goes in the pile. I travel with a lot of photographic equipment so hand luggage is full of that. Never pick cords/leads in main luggage, you will have a bunch of useless equipment if your checked in goes missing. If there are two or more of you travelling then don't pack a suitcase each. Put a mixture of everyones clothes in all check in luggage, so if your bag goes missing at least you will have some clothes in the other suitcases. Take more of your medication than you need. Like a weeks more, just in case something happens and you are stuck out there with no way of getting back. I've not done this myself yet but a lot of people have stated putting air tags on their check in bags so they know where it is if its not on the conveyor belt. As someone who also suffers from migraines I feel for you. I can end up in bed for days just throwing up. One of my triggers are strong smells as well. Perfume, especially flowery smells, the smell of cigarette and petrol. Oh and those dreaded little green tree car fresheners.
A pharmacist told me 30 YEARS ago that migraines can be helped with Vitamin B complex .He said the B’s coat the shafts of the nerve endings in our head. Every time I feel one coming on it’s usually a lack of remembering to take the B’s regularly. Very little to NO migraines since then!
@@createdbyjhp3987 hi, I Googled it & it says the difference is B Complex is many B vitamins and B12 is just one. So before thinking that they don’t work for you try taking both of them together. Please don’t get upset with me I also get Migraines & it also helps with me. For me it doesn’t take them all away, but I believe it helps. God bless & take care.
Looks like you had a fabulous vacation and made many wonderful memories with your family. I truly enjoyed seeing things through a fellow Canadian mothers eyes. Road rash on the knees isn't very pleasant, sending you positive energy and healing prayers. Thanks for sharing your time and adventures with us, Blessings to you and your family ❤
Well the timing of this video couldn’t have been better! On my way from Boston to Anchorage tomorrow and so nervous about having everything packed!!! A lot more gear- all carry on-hiking and wet weather gear! Thank you for the great intro how you packed! I’m so glad you got to see and share this beautiful island before the recent devastation😢Life will return but will take a while❤Cindy
I was so touched by such a personal family story. I cannot begin to express my appreciation of such a caring family log that should last with your family forever.
Loved your sunglasses!! Wish I were there with you all. I bet you are a whole lot of fun! I think it is wonderful that you are getting to enjoy your children while they are still young. Safe trip home! Love you all.
It was so good to see you on your videos. I enjoy your channel that Alex does. I watch it all the time, and and that was the biggest turtle. I've eve a soul. I'm glad you all got to take a vacation. And your house is beautiful, kind of whole house will be beautiful.😊
So beautiful and loved your Vlog! I want to send you a prayer and my thoughts for Maui at this sad time. My heart aches for the people of Lahaina, Hawaii whose lives have been lost, or turned upside down after a fire destroyed that historic community. It is horrific to see something so beautiful destroyed in a blink of an eye. I am praying they find survivors & missing loved ones All efforts must focus on saving lives & rebuilding this wonderful community.
I was lucky enough to go to Kauai last year in August and it was so beautiful. We stayed in a condo and didn't have a beach view, but it was so good. My daughter and her family took me and there wasn't a day that I didn't have poké, or a local dish. We stayed for 8 days. I want to go back very soon. It felt like home and I was told that since I was born on Oahu that I am considered a native. But that's where I want to be. I really enjoyed seeing your time there on both channels.
EarPlanes work by gradually equalizing the pressure in your ear to the pressure in the plane. They also make them for children (and possibly infants). Well worth a try especially for the little ones that might start screaming/crying.
It was great to see you making another video Melissa! You have such a sweet personality and calming voice. So happy to see you all together in such a beautiful paradise! I love watching videos of places that I know that I'll never be able to go, so thank you so much for sharing it with us! I hope your knees are okay and feel better soon.
Thank you, Melissa, for this vlog, it was great seeing Hawaii through your eyes. Everything looked so beautiful, even the scary Hana highway. So sorry about your knees, I do hope that it is nothing serious. It is nice to know that you had fun and that all four (4) of your "kids" enjoyed the trip.
I’m amazed at how your children stay together, they are the best kids I’ve seen in years,so respectful which is rare here in the states.Y’all have done a great job raising them and they dress appropriately too.
Good luck on the knitting, Melissa. I’m sure you’ll flow right into it. I decided to give it up bc I just didn’t have the patience to spend the time to learn, then practice, just to do it properly. But I love the rhythm you can have with your fingers and hands once you get going…it’s very soothing. When I have a chance I want to learn crochet that is supposedly a bit easier to learn than knitting. I just didn’t have the “stuff” to make anything more than scarves with knitting and I decided it was time for me to move on to something else. Plus I’m an artist….watercolor, pastels, mixed media and papercrafting, so I’ve got plenty of other creative pursuits to keep me busy! And I also do part-time vintage reselling. Thanks for sharing your busy life and have fun on the trip! ❤ p.s. I’ve been to Hawaii twice….about 30 years ago…I have a sis n law who still lives there. It’s a gloriously beautiful place!
I think that crochet is easier. It's harder for me to keep a straight edge but it does work up a lot faster and a mistake is so much easier to correct. Do you have any of your paintings online? Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out ❤️
It’s always so much fun to see the same situation from two different people’s point of view. After watching Alex’s videos, it was fun to see your side! Looks like it was an amazing trip! Thanks for sharing.
If you wear a mask on the plane it not only cuts down on smells, it keeps you from getting sick. I used to get sick every time I flew, but not once after I started wearing a mask.
Seeing Jason from the back is like seeing my son when he was about 16 , thanks for the video , so sad about the fires over there your lucky you left when you did and did'nt get caught up in any of it .
Nice "hat and sunglass" look Melissa. So sorry you got sunburned and scraped your knees. Your children's faces have changed even from six months ago. Such beautiful beings inside and out. I'm so happy that your family got to take this trip. We've seen you work so hard all these years. Great seeing you all on this amazing island and having fun! Thank you for vlogging this Melissa. I hope you are feeling a little less sore.
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us; hope your knee heals quickly and you didn`t do too much damage. Luckily here on Vancouver Island, at least in the cowichan valley, we haven`t had much issue with wildfire smoke so far this year, but there`s a lot of wildfire season still to come and we`re at a high drought stage right now, so limited water use. Enjoy the rest of your summer and take care.
I truly hope the you don't get the smoke and that you can just enjoy your summer. Today the smoke isn't bad at all. It was the worst the first few days back from our trip :)
Alexander is better at remembering to make the story when showing clips where I'm still in the stage of remembering to grab my camera at the most random times. Practice, practice, practice :)
What a great time with the whole family. My sister has gone twice. She loves it and so does her sons in laws. So they all go together. So sorry about your fall. Ouch. Get Well Soon.
Thank you, Melissa for letting us come along. I especially appreciate seeing the beautiful foliage and flowers through your eyes. And you captured some fantastic stills of the kids. What a pleasure to see a bit more of them. I hope you're feeling much better!
Thank you for sharing your holiday with us Melissa. I enjoyed the trip. I hope your sunburn is better now and you haven't done anything really bad to your knee.
Thanks a million Melissa for your vlog, I thoroughly enjoyed your perspective of the island. The flowers there are so amazing. Sorry to hear of your fall, pretty scary I bet. I almost has a face plant fall on a sidewalk while I was texting. I will not EVER walk and type on my phone. I swear I was horizontal and some how recovered (reflexes like a cat) lol. Let us know how your knee is doing in time. Thanks again, Lynn
Glad you got to go to Maui. Good pics . Sorry you scrapped your knees. I bet that hurt too. I didn't know its so hot over there. I've never been. But it sure was beautiful and thanks for taking us along Melissa. ❤😊
Hi Melissa! So organized. I am about half way thru your vid but had to comment on a tip I have. It's a tiny one but I also Used to travel to Europe every year with just a carry on for 2 - 3 weeks at a time. I put all my undies in a bag by themselves..a clear baggie zip lock and press all the air out. That way if an agent has to inspect your luggage they won't be touching them/tossing them all over the place...LOL. I never knew there were special ear plugs or if I've seen them I never noticed. I usually carry gum to help with them - would be a great help for babies, who begin to cry due to the air pressure in the ears I bet if you can get them that size. I was watching your hubbies vid about the antique shop and yours popped on after. I watch as I work..kinda. I mean I glance over when I can. Glad you are taking a well deserved break. Never been to Hawaii but hopefully someday I will get there. Had so many invites/chances to go. Sigh. It looks like great fun.
I hope that you take the opportunity to go when you have the chance. Thats a great tip about the underwear, I'm honestly going to do that next time. If I ever need something from my bag I won't have to worry about them falling out anywhere :) Thank you so much for watching
@@MelArchbold Thank you for sharing! I'm glad you all got to go together and enjoy the beach, sun, nature, culture there. I think I found your husbands channel when he was doing the Potter house. I'm not sure how, but sure glad I did because as I work (I sell things that I have inherited or that I buy online)...I can watch some amazing stuff LOL. I mean...its really been very interesting to see what you can find in some of these homes and I love that you guys are such a nice, respectful and fun family as well :-)
Really liked your vlog Melissa! Seeing your kids and Alexander enjoying themselves was a treat! You sure got sunburned, sorry about that. Rest up, enjoy your gardens, and we'll wait for your next vlog!
I’m the same as you Melissa. I will get a instant migraine from scents! I switched to essential oils years ago and I only use them for all my cleaning supplies and if I want to smell nice I use an oil. I use unscented everything for the things that I can’t buy from them.
I use essential oils as well but even with those I have to be careful which may trigger it. Geranium oil is a no no for me but lavender and peppermint are wonderful :)
What a beautiful place you found to stay: great view of the beach and what appeared to be an easy walk to get there. Cherish the memories of this lovely vacation (minus the sunburn and skinned knees!).
My grandmother always said when you go on vacation to come back two days early. Before you have to go to work. Never plan anything for the day after you get back. She said going on vacation is very hard work and you do way more than you should and most people need a vacation after their vacation. 😅 You rest up and take it easy cuz you had a good time. And that's not easy. Having fun is much more work than it appears.😊
Thank you so much for this vlog episode. It was really fun to watch. I loved seeing the roads filmed; since this always gives a feeling of being there as well, when watching travel vlogs. I hope your knees get better soon and nothing too severe happened to them.
Lovely trip! Thank you so much! As for your knees, skinned knees hurt! Jason seemed especially exuberant on vacation. 😃 Your kids are all so handsome. It goes by fast, doesn't it?
I am so glad you feel that way about perfume. I don’t wear it either. You and me, can sit next to each other on a plane. I am so glad am not the only one who has a holiday organised. (Packing and house cleaning) my husband says am mad. 😂.I am from the Uk and majority of our roads are bendy. Those bends looked pretty normal to me. Hope you had a fantastic holiday. Looked fab. ❤
Ay, ay, ay Melissa, knees, sunburned. You need a vacation 😮 Anyway, Abigail is a mini you, bellas. The kids don’t look thrilled but they will be when they have their own children. Thank you for sharing the wonderful trip. Feeling sad about the fires 😔
Bet the polysporin came in handy? Nothing wrong with being a Mom! Hope your knees feel better. Make sure you get a look at the sunrise while the smoke is still around. Big Beautiful Orange Sun. We had awful fires here in Colorado 2 years ago. Such beautiful sunrises and sets.
Great video Melissa! It reminded me of an embarrassing moment I had forgotten about. My 1st husband and I went to Hawaii on our honeymoon, we were in our early 20's. I was swimming and got caught in a rip tide. I was terrified yet somehow managed to swim to shore. When I stood up, shaking, I noticed the bottom of my bikini was around my knees!! I almost died!! I quickly pulled it up and slinked off the beach. That was the last time I ever wore a bikini, 14 months later I had a baby. Hah! Doubt I ever would have worn one again anyway, 1 piece for me. 😛
Melissa, i am also that person who maybe over prepares for trips and even more so after kids. I have always believed in better to have it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it! I also really do not like flying but i love travelling. My anxiety starts when we have booked the holiday and come the flying part, i can get panicky. It is the going up and coming down and turbulence, plus some bad experiences on some rough flights. No surprise that i am also scared of heights. Being the only one in our household that knows how to drive, means that i can choose how fast or slow to take the bends. I'm based in London, UK, so we have a lot of narrow roads and often visit family in the countryside and also need to take ferries to see them. Sat nav always tries to take us down this one long road, which only is wide enough for one car, both ways. Apparently, it is meant to be a short cut but i generally go slow for other people unfamiliar to the road and maybe go too fast down it. I also know that it is generally close to the destination, so i always tend to take it easy. I have major social anxiety from when i used to work in central London and it didn't help my PTSD before or after being pregnant and all the terrorist stuff that happened. I am not sure what type you have but you did really well. I love my beach tent! I think it was about £15 from Tesco and it has two pockets either side and there is a flap at the bottom for the wet/sandy/ messy area that you can actually lift up to get the kids changed in 98% privacy. They can't stand up in it any more being in KS2 but we still make it work. In the colder months, we actually set it up in the living room and put a kids sofa bed in it for TV night. We pretend that they are camping and make hot dogs and popcorn to break up the winter months. I too burn easily and i think we were in Spain or Cypress (pre kids). It was about 21c on the first day and quite cold walking alone the cliffs in the wind. We got back and boy did i suffer! We got a bus into town and the bus driver told me i looked like a snake! (A passenger translated for us) He drove a bit and then all of a sudden stopped the bus. We were worried as to what was happening but the kind man picked some aloe vera stems from the way side and gave them to me! Bless him! i was told to keep them in the fridge and use it. I need to ask hubby where that was as i bought some of the most amazing aloe vera cream ever! I love gardening with a passion and i love to preserve and can a lot of the excess produce for the winter and "hungry gap" but anything over 25c gets a bit too much for me and i can't handle the humidity with my asthma. I always use the kids 50+ sensitive sun cream too now as my skin doesn't react to it as much as the normal stuff. Being super fair skin i have to be careful what i use on my body and as i am getting older i am struggling to find a cream that doesn't make me breakout and i really don't like the eczema cream in the pump jars from the doctor's as i find it too heavy and greasy. Great shout for the garden hat but did they not hire out umbrellas? If it gets really hot, try to get hold of one of those mini collapsible, light coloured brollies. They aren't just great for rain but for sun too! Darker ones only absorb the heat. You could really see the winds picking up from the hurricane there at the end! Oh no Melissa! I hope everything is ok with your knee? The plane elevation probably didn't help to much? We went to Torrevieja, Spain on a different trip (also pre kids) as my Aunty lived near by and they have tiled pavements. The night before we were due to fly back home there was torrential rain and flooded the roads and pavements. We tried to cross the road on the way back to the hotel but hubby slipped over in the road on the water and i tried to help him as he was also wearing a heavy backpack and in trying to lift him up, i slipped as he pulled me over onto the road. It was really bad with my hands and face and it was really embarrassing. My face was all swollen and to make it worse for me (but understandable), they separated me from my hubby on the flight! Major anxiety! I had to ask the man next to me if i could hold his hand on take off. It was awful! We went to A&E the next day and i had a fractured cheekbone. Again, understandably, they separated me from my hubby and asked me a lot of questions. Work wasn't happy that i needed to take extra time off sick. As no one tried to help us on the busy street of mainly tourists and by the time i got back, there wasn't much they could do with the gravel embedded in my face. We were staying in apartments and not a hotel and the main office was several blocks away. I also didn't want to miss our flight back home and had enough but yes, it really hurt on the plane, with the pressure changes, so can feel for you and you injuries. I managed to get most of the gravel out of my hands and the hospital gave them a clean up too. I had a couple of stitches at the top of the mouth but they couldn't get all of the grit out due to healing but after a few years it came out anyway. I also needed an emergency dentist appointment as i chipped my two front teeth and another next to the injury a bit worst. Taking a fall like that in another country is quite scary. Please keep us updated. Really awful to see what is happening in Maui and globally with all of the devastating wildfires and floods. Very saddening to all of those affected. Anyway, stay safe and best wishes. P.s. I think i need a comment editor! lol
aw i feel bad you fell and got sunburned, but at least it wasnt on day one, ie it didnt ruin the trip. for sure get the knees checked out. also maybe want to get your left wrist/hand checked out. because if you put hand out to brace your fall, you could have fractured it. just to be on the safe side. Other than, that seems like you had a nice trip. The smoke from Canadian wildfires has been so bad, that even in the states it's effecting us! In North Carolina, we've had air quality action days from the wildfires up there! Even in NYC, the one day the skies were blocked out. it's crazy. Nice to see a video from you! did your vegetable garden survive? hope we get an update. your flowers looked good, especially ones on the porch.
Even if it wasnt for their beautiful looks, your children have their parents mannerisms and walk! ( it seems your daughter has gone from little girl to eye catching beauty overnight!) Thank you for sharing the reality of glamorous vacations😊!

Your family is the best looking family there!
I fell down the knitting rabbit hole 5 years ago, and I'm tickled to hear you talk about yarn, circular needles, and Ravelry
So incredibly beautiful to see you all on the beach in stunning Maui sunset. Two wonderful people came together to make three more wonderful people.

I take B12 daily. I got my 1st migraine Last month I'm 52. So maybe it does work.
Botox injected in the back of the head can relieve migraines.

You need the very fine mulch to keep the weeds from growing in your flower bed.

Loved your video….Thank you for taking me on your vacation…beautiful family….sorry you fell …
Happy you all got home safe and sound..
I love seeing the different perspectives between you and Alex!
Alexander is better at remembering to make the story when showing clips where I'm still in the stage of remembering to grab my camera at the most random times. Practice, practice, practice :)
Thanks for sharing
What a great time with the whole family. My sister has gone twice. She loves it and so does her sons in laws. So they all go together. So sorry about your fall. Ouch. Get Well Soon.
The trees & flowers are terrific! Thanks Melissa for the video!
I love seeing the whole family together making memories. Your kids are really gorgeous! 😊
Loved this video Melissa...thank you for sharing the holiday. Hope you feel better soon xxx
Thank you, Melissa for letting us come along. I especially appreciate seeing the beautiful foliage and flowers through your eyes. And you captured some fantastic stills of the kids. What a pleasure to see a bit more of them. I hope you're feeling much better!
Thank you for sharing. You have such a sweet, lovely family. ❤
Thank you so much!
I mean...its really been very interesting to see what you can find in some of these homes and I love that you guys are such a nice, respectful and fun family as well :-)
Thank you for sharing Melissa. Was awesome to see all the places you and your family enjoyed. ❤
Really liked your vlog Melissa! Seeing your kids and Alexander enjoying themselves was a treat! You sure got sunburned, sorry about that. Rest up, enjoy your gardens, and we'll wait for your next vlog!
Thanks for sharing. Hawaii has always been on my bucket list.
Your a fabulous packer.....Happy Maui Vacation To my FAVORITE HARD WORKING YT FAMILY..🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
What a beautiful place you found to stay: great view of the beach and what appeared to be an easy walk to get there. Cherish the memories of this lovely vacation (minus the sunburn and skinned knees!).
I see that Alexander posted a video today too, but I am watching yours first. Sorry Alexander. 😍
Thanks for sharing some highlights of your trip ! Hope the knee heals quickly and there is nothing too seriously wrong with it .
Thanku for showing your family's adventure the dome looked interesting!
Beautiful family trip thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Oh my! So sad to realize the Lahaina you visited is gone. 😢 Prayers to all on Maui. 🙏
Glad you all had a wonderful vacation! And I hope your knee is ok!
Great packing, Melissa! Your pics and videos were fantastic!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for this vlog episode. It was really fun to watch. I loved seeing the roads filmed; since this always gives a feeling of being there as well, when watching travel vlogs. I hope your knees get better soon and nothing too severe happened to them.
So far it looks like my knees are healing just fine. Didn't show anything broken on the X-ray. I hope that you are having an incredible summer ❤️
Looks like an amazing vacation. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you so much for coming along with us :)
Thank you for sharing your trip with us.
Thanks for watching!
Looked fab. ❤
Thank you for sharing your holiday hope and prayer that you feel better sorry to hear about your fall watching from South Africa ❤
Yes, the Miata would be perfect on those twisty roads. 😍
Ay, ay, ay Melissa, knees, sunburned. You need a vacation 😮 Anyway, Abigail is a mini you, bellas. The
kids don’t look thrilled but they will be when they have their own children. Thank you for sharing the wonderful trip. Feeling sad about the fires 😔
Thank you for taking us along on your vacation. 💖
Thanks for the beautiful family vlog, Melissa. 🌺
I hope you avoided the fires over there! Looks beautiful!
thanks 🙏 for taking us along
some really beautiful moments with your family 🥰
Bet the polysporin came in handy? Nothing wrong with being a Mom! Hope your knees feel better. Make sure you get a look at the sunrise while the smoke is still around. Big Beautiful Orange Sun. We had awful fires here in Colorado 2 years ago. Such beautiful sunrises and sets.
Excellente!!! Great job on the Video!!!! ♥️♥️
Thanks so much!
P.s. I think i need a comment editor! lol
Wow your kids are all grown up. Nice blog
aw i feel bad you fell and got sunburned, but at least it wasnt on day one, ie it didnt ruin the trip. for sure get the knees checked out. also maybe want to get your left wrist/hand checked out. because if you put hand out to brace your fall, you could have fractured it. just to be on the safe side.
My garden is not what I had thought that it would be at this point but I think I'll do an update today :) Thank you so much for watching ❤️
Even if it wasnt for their beautiful looks, your children have their parents mannerisms and walk! ( it seems your daughter has gone from little girl to eye catching beauty overnight!) Thank you for sharing the reality of glamorous vacations😊!
When you spoke of poly and bandaids the last person I thought was going to scuffed up was you! Feel better and great trip.
39:57, like the pool sign- NO glass diving ball playing loud noise.
