There are two bolts underneath, one for the diff one for the gearbox. Then you fill ~1.6L 75w90 from the reverse gear bolt (the one with the wires). Look up "Fiat Ducato 290 1993 2.5TD Gearbox Oil Change" video
Thank you sir!! Your video helped alot!!!! I’m rebuilding a Citroen c25. The transmission started to fight today and it got stuck on reverse. After fighting with it for 2 hours we finally got it out and could move it around but it is still a struggle. I’ll take a look on the stick and try to see if I need to fill up the oil. Else I have no choice to take out the transmission to see if anything is wrong with it. Fingers crossed 🤞
Hi there again Alex my friend, can you please tell me the measurement from the bottom or top of the gearbox dip stick to the top mark of the stick, so I can check that my oil is at 1.9 ltrs which is what there should be in there, many thanks in advance.
I'm working away from the van at the moment but the best advice I can give you is to refer to the JK towers website page on gear linkages; www.jktowers.co.uk/page/info-gearbox-linkage If you scroll down (quite a long way down) there is detailed information on gearbox oil levels and dipstick marks.
Hi Alex. It's very confusing regarding oil in gearbox. So I phoned coastal Motorhomes. They told me to drain oil out from gearbox and differential. Fill with correct amount of oil. Scratch mark on dipstick. If too much oil, it puts stress on drive shaft seals. Mine is 1.6litres. But still not sure.
I recommend reading the JK Towers link if you haven't already. But still there are a lot of different opinions on this so it's hard to get to the bottom of it 🤔
The gear box has two chambers once filled will drop in le el due To it transfering under use to next chamber hence 20mm abouve tge level try it run ten mile then check it ,it will drop to perfect .old skool camper owner 1984 talbot exress
I know this is an old video mate but I’m struggling with cold starts in my c25 Citroen, essentially the same vehicle. Is there a cold start cable anywhere?
Yep, there's a cold start idle advance, Coastal Motorhomes have replacement ones available. If it starts but won't run it could well be the problem, if it won't start at all then I'd say it's unlikely to be the problem.
Hi, yes, JK Towers seems to have removed that page from their site. All the info I have is in the video. If in any doubt the safest method is to drain the box and fill with a minimum of 1.9l.
As with a lot of this type of job, it would help if you had 6 foot long arms made of rubber! Just a word of caution. Manual gearbox oil does not discolour like engine oil would. There is no combustion to contaminate it in the gearbox. The fact that it looks OK doesn't mean that it was changed recently.
That is an excellent point, I have heard tales of folk draining the oil and finding it in a disgusting state but this may be down to extremes of neglect. I do intend changing it in the near future in any case. It didn't smell too bad either. The oil in my Celica gearbox smelt terrible when I changed it!
alright mate, hope your well. Im re doing my bathroom in my T Express 1992, ive the old rubber pipes to the sink, id like to plumb in domestic taps or perhaps like you have. Did you use any special reducers from the rubber pipes? or any tips on how to best go about it? All the best rich.
Hello Rich, yes, I used a domestic tap connector and a small length of copper to a hose connector, It's covered in this video th-cam.com/video/rUiq-Ro4AoQ/w-d-xo.html 👍
Hi. I find that the Gearbox dipstick (located on the differential) is best accessed from Underneath. Useful (and very brief!) demo here: th-cam.com/video/rCsyaduHJps/w-d-xo.html Best wishes, Steve
Nice one Alex. That's something I need to think about doing. Sticker wall is looking good mate!! Cheers 👍😃
Some good info there Alex. Re the gearbox 5th gear iv heard the same for my van being starved of oil in 5th gear on a long run.
That's interesting as yours is a newer van 🤔
Ok nice but how do you change the gearbox oil? Thx

Glad it helped, I never had gearbox problems myself but I believe a lot of common problems are due to worn mounts and/or linkages.

Hello,
I have a Citroen C25 from 1990 2.5 turbo diesel 5 geared.
How much gearbox oil should I fill.
Definitive gearbox oil info can be found here (keep scrolling down the link and you'll get to it) www.jktowers.co.uk/page/info-gearbox-linkage
Hey, looking for some info on The dipstick, but The page seem to be down, can you send me some info on The measurements?

use a hot gun to warm up the sticker enough for it to peal off, then use a cloth to wipe it back down on the surface.
👍
confusing ... but did mine last year ... cheers

That definitely looks much easier 🤣 thanks Steve 👍
Got a feeling this video could have been a lot shorter.
Thanks though.
Almost certainly, but where's the fun in that 🤣 glad if it helped 👍
