You made a lot of progress! I’m sure you’re counting down the days to spring! I know we are! We had some snow days this past week,so we’ve missed 5 days at our little fixer upper and it feels like forever!
Awwww... Thank you so much! Ryan surprised me with that sweet wall hanging and I agree, it truly reflects our life together. I'm very grateful... Thank you so much for your lovely comments, we really appreciate them ❤️
In Alberta we always pray for rain in bc and areas where the fires are rain is the best thing for the fires it clears the air and helps the fire fighters
Im assuming that they meant while you were talking in bed 🛌 ,yes it was dark! But ,only during that time. This episode was very inspiring 👏 You accomplished alot ❤ And i love the sign above the door..great gift Ryan 😊 Im sure you both are getting excited about returning to your beautiful island 🏝 That smoke was terrible, hopefully you won't have to go through that again..much love from Toledo OH ❤❤
Where the veneer is coming off the cabinet, just fill the crack with baking soda, the squirt some super glue in the crank, clamp it for about 20 minutes and you wont notice the cracks anymore.
Amazing. You are really bringing everything together. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I really hope you get a break from the smoke soon. Blessings.
Me too. Im 63 and doing up a fixer upper myself as my partner died and i didnt want a mortgage any more so im doing similar stuff in a maisonette here in England, but i miss having a garden terribly x@mywildholm
Was gonna ask why wire with A.C.? I went with D.C. like a boat or R.V. Yes I do have a D.C. to A.C. inverter. But not spending the time or money to wire whole cottage for A.C. When I only need A.C. for tools. The D.C. fridges use less electric and better insulated. What do you think rock wool is made from? You know that it is spun glass and should breath it. Mineral wool is any fibrous material formed by spinning or drawing molten mineral or rock materials such as slag and ceramics. When it comes to breathing fiberglass and mineral wool both put fibers into the air.
Thanks for your comment! I chose rockwool because from what I have read, it is the safest material out there. If any fibres do get into the lungs, they are quickly dissolved, while glass fibres are a harsh irritant. Rockwool is also non-carcinogenic. Add to that the other benefits (fire & moisture resistant, 3X denser than FG, etc) and it easily became a "no-brainer" for me. As far as AC vs DC goes, I chose AC simply because that is what I know and I'm comfortable with it. I thought it would be simpler to not have both AC and DC circuits in the tiny cabin. There are linear inverter fridges and freezers available now, which drastically reduce the power consumption. I also did the math and determined that the running cost savings of pure DC appliances over their AC counterparts was not enough to offset the huge increase in cost for DC appliances themselves. Lastly, the tiny cabin is just one of several buildings that will need AC power on the island, so centralized AC power was really a necessity. All in all and for my purposes, this was the way to go. I appreciate your suggestion, and I hope this answers your questions effectively.
Hello there! Funny you would say that, Ryan just talked about that on our last livestream I think. When someone brought it up, I thought it was a great idea but he said that the pitch of the roof wouldn't be quite right and because the cabin is so small, he didn't feel it would work. Thank you for watching 💚
I certainly feel for you two in having to wear those respirators so much We were issued the M-17 type in Viet Nam back in the mid 60's which covered your whole face and let me tell you, when the temperatures reached 110 Fahrenheit they were nearly unbearable, especially when perspiration flowed down on your lenses.
Awww... that's so kind of you. We were also concerned. We kept her in the cabin alot it wasn't an easy time during the fires... they were actually worse than we could portray on camera. Opal has done well though and she's breathing fresh air now! We are grateful! Thank you for watching!
Excellent! She is so sweet. We live in Nova Scotia and also had bad fires last year. It was so hard to breath. I am from Edmonton and also lived in BC for a few years. Love your videos.
Oh she really is a lovely little doggy 🐕 Thank you for caring. Well hello there fellow Canadian! Yes, we knew that you Nova Scotian's also really suffered... it was really quite horrendous. Edmonton is actually my town of origin 💚 Thank you for joining us on this special journey.

I'm curious what your lives were like before you set out on this journey? Jobs, interests, hobbies, and so on.
We will be on a livestream on TH-cam at 7pm CST and would be happy to answer you - come in and say hello 👋 💚

The insulation will make a difference in sound deadening.
Definitely!!!! How we needed that with the generator... but wait... very soon the generator will become quiet 🤫
Have you thought of a loft bed

You should be able to put wood glue on it
That's right! Glue helped us put those white cabinets together. Thanks for watching. -Ryan

Oh man... I can't even imagine. That would have been so frustrating! I don't feel so bad about our little trials here in comparison. -Ryan.
Just worried about Opal. How did she manage in the smoke?
