❤ Deb and I vote for cedar in the breezeway. Shoes, boots, outdoor smoke smelled clothing that are housed in there, will benefit from the smell of cedar. And BUGS will stay out as well. ❤

One suggestion would be to put some type of fire alarm system in place. The fact that your daughter will be above the garage is really important. With todays cars and other electronic equipment there is always a chance that a fire could happen. Also maybe get a plan for a fire escape for the addition, and the main house. I would also think about getting carbon monoxide detectors in garage area as cars could be a danger if left running. I know this sounds dumb but any thought of a retention pond close by in case of fire. Water would be helpful for fire deptment. Sorry not to be critical but one of my neighbors had a barn fire and water had to be brought in and building burned to the ground. Anyway great videos and you and your family are great examples of proud Americans.

Please remember not to warm the cars up while inside of the garage because Navayas apartment up stairs always pull vehicles out side the garage and then allow them to warm up to avoid gas poisoning monoxide poisoning

No it would not be safe to warm up cars inside because the smoke from the exhaust will fill up the garage and we all know that smoke rises meaning it will fill up the apartment up stairs

Here's an idea for the breezeway, how about a small part of it you put in a chalkboard. You know you could write little messages of encouragements to each other! Idk just a thought. Then you could do the cedar planks on the rest of it.

For the breezeway I say shiplap walls with hooks for coats and a shelf above for winter hats, and the bench to cover the pipes, but also for sitting on to take off your boots. ❤
As far as the little things you are going back to do, I’ve been trying to teach my daughter that sometimes you don’t finish a task at school before the teacher tells you to move on to something else. She has a difficult time with that. I told her that when she grows up, her boss may tell her to stop on one thing and jump onto another task really quickly and she is going to have to be okay with that. Her boss and teacher can see the big picture, even though she can’t, and she has to trust that it’s the right thing to do. Sometimes we think we have life all planned out, and God throws us curve balls, and makes us go into a different direction, but if we fight Him to do our will, we may mess up His plans because we can’t see the big picture. We need to trust and understand that sometimes we don’t have all the answers and a little faith could bring us to amazing blessings. Look at all that you’ve built on just a leap of faith! Thank you for always being a good example to us and also sharing your journey with us, and I hope that the wasps go away soon! 😅 Love you all! 😊❤

    To kill the hornets.
Use Dawn dish soap and water..
I’ll take a spray bottle ( get the good spray bottles) and fill it quarter way with Dawn rest of water mix it and spray them and I just fall off the nest !!!
And if you have ticks …
Use hose sprayer , fill bottle with Dawn and spray your yard !!!
    I spray it on thick.

    • @MrMERCER10
      @MrMERCER10 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

Well... those are hornets. I'd get a "Super Soaker" to IMMEDIATELY saturate the nest. Spray bottles work but are slow like one shot at a time. Super Soakers are more like Buckshot PLUS they give YOU more distance from the nest before firing.
Once this is done put SCENTED DRYER SHEETS in areas you don't want bee's, wasps or hornets to build a nest. For some reason, they HATE this.

    • @LiberLady
      @LiberLady 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

I also put 1 cup of vinegar, one squirt of the dish soap and the rest with water in the spray bottle. This spray kills on contact, safe for the environment! I used this outside of our restaurant when the wasps got aggressive. (They were all over the front of cars eating the dead bug carcasses off the fronts or trying to nest in the side-view mirrors, too!

I enjoy the rhythm of your lives. You remind me of dear friends who bought land with a log cabin on it in the countryside of Quebec, Canada. No running water, no electricity, wood cookstove, outhouse. They raised six kids, all homeschooled and figured out power, plumbing, still grow their own food, meat, and also started a thriving honey business. I learned how to make cheese there, jams and jellies, and the joys of independent living. I love the memories and enthusiasm and close knit family feelings you evoke. Thank you so much.

Just wanted to make sure you have: Smoke Detectors (by the stair base and near bedrooms) and CO2, You are above a garage so that is needed. I would recommend closing off the stairs to the garage with a self-closing door.
If you want to decimate the bugs bugging you the solution is simple, devastating, and very satisfying to watch. Build a wood frame of 2x4 material about 2x2 feet. Cover that with stiff mesh stapled to the top side. Find a bare spot next to the drive where they seem to congregate. Get some raw meat, a car battery, and some jumper cables. Set the meat on the ground, the mesh frame over the meat, and the battery under a box. Connect the cables from the battery to the frame. The box frame is now live. Step back, keep the pets away, and now get ready for fireworks. The wasps are drawn to the meat smell. They hit the mesh to get at it and ZAP, fried bug. If you have a ground next put the mesh over it and it gets even better. Revenge for getting stung never felt so sweet.

I’ve watched you as you moved from your home in Washington to go to the great unknown in Idaho.
I think you lived in your travel trailer inside a small garage and built a little apartment to live in while you built your dream home with the family.
I never heard any words of giving up only perseverance as you tackled each task.
You kept your faith and family as your top priorities as you diligently worked on your property.
I’ve enjoyed the music, testament of faith and enduring love for each other as you built your dream property.
I hope you can keep filming even after everything is finished (is it ever really finished?!) so we can live vicariously through you.
Many blessings to all of you ~
    Kindest regards
    Kathy

In order to get rid of the wasps / yellow jackets, you need to find the nest(s). If you find the best, put seven dust around the opening. Keep doing that for a week. Put it on at night. They will come in and out of the hive through the day and go through it. They take it in the hive and will kill it off by themselves.
Even if it is not yellow jackets, you still need to find the nest and take it out. I think ground wasps like yellow jackets may survive throughout the winter underground or in a hole in the wall.
Good luck with taking them out!
Glad you guys are moving forward with your dreams. It is great to give the kids a place to grow before jumping from the nest. That is great! Keep it up.

At the end of winter 2025. Freeze your hornet jugs, bacon and all. Put on perimeter of property. Easier to carry said jugs and already up for spring/summer. Also away from everything.

Hello again my loving Idaho family ♥️!! Sorry to see you’re still dealing with the 🐝 again this week (ouch Melissa!! That’s a bad area to get stung😖)! I think this is the worst we’ve had them in many years for Ky too. It’s good to see you checking off so many things on your to do list (perfect exterior door color btw😉). That range hood looks like it was planned perfectly to be like it is!! Although the bees are swarming now winter time is closer than we think. Your winters there are far worse than here in the mountains and hollers of Ky. Before long we will be in full swing for the pediatric cancer toy drive and just like that the new year will arrive. I pray your days are long enough to accomplish your goals before the weather is the deciding factor. I carry each of you very dear to my heart and ALWAYS in my prayers🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻…. Until next week ♥️

I’d put a blackboard in the breezeway or create one…if a bench and coat hooks are there, boots, general living entryway mess, why not have a surface you can write on?

@@kathyk9519 I’m assuming that most of that one wall with the plumbing will have hooks and cubbies and the wall opposite (to the right as you walk out of the house be blackboard. Shouldn’t be too dark and I kinda wish I had a space to remind myself what NOT to forget of my own as the older I get the more I leave notes to myself. Lol

I think the cedar would be nice. I also think it would be so cute to add picture of Nevaeh as she has grown, baby starting at your side and 18 end at the stair entrance . Not every year but every three years. Maybe even start up high so that you can add Kamani’s underneath and so on.

Breezeway wall material...something that looks like medium/large sized stacked stone. (There is stuff that goes up quickly, without tedious individual rocks.) Then it would look like you were walking into an old tavern and then the wooden bench with coat hooks etc., it would look really nifty like a homesteady farmhouse.
