Most people here in comment section do not understand the true scale that Satya is talking about. You as a consumer may not see how enormous Microsoft data infrastructure truely is. Do your research on what they do on the corporate side and how much data they move around a day. They are building a firm foundation so they can stand firm in the future.
Nadella has transformed Microsoft, that's all too clear - and he deserves a lot of credit for that. But it's a cheap game he is playing when it comes competition with AWS. When he talks about "business model alignment", he is basically saying "you are doing business with Amazon, but what if he comes after your business?". That's purely scare tactic. Amazon already competes with Netflix, via Prime Video, yet Netflix in hosted on AWS and Netflix is bigger than ever before. Amazon tried their restaurant delivery business - despite Deliveroo and Uber being hosted on AWS. More examples like this are available... You can compete with partners in the wider ecosystem and still be customers of each other. That's what differentiates Amazon's "customer obsession" stance vs Microsoft's competitor obsession stance. I know which one will continue to win.
Tradesmen often have a close link with their tools and also the services and products they work on. I suggest that this may be parallel to data crunching and websites, but there is clearly a demarcation line.
The interviewer is soooo theatrical. It's annoying. Hey interviewer, please focus on the content of the interview, not on acting of the interview! Just a recommendation!
That's his character or persona. Add on that your exact reaction compounded by millions by viewers is a stressor which is in the details of being a TV host and interviewer. Satya is humble and compliments his questions because behind them are hours of research. Jon didn't interrupt or get loud, which make for a horrible interview. Steering the conversation is part of the intellectual work; to answer what others [investors & innovators] have been wanting to know.
Well yes. "Cloud" is more powerful than your home PC, after all, Cloud is just a server/supercomputer. The problem is ISPs having to provide you with you 4K streaming service for games from the "cloud" which isn't kb of data like a webpage. It's gb and terabytes of data
Cheeze-Itz I’m glad to hear your thoughts but cloud doesn’t work that way. The purpose of Cloud is not to replace individual computing power. When we design some thing on cloud, we try to push computing to Clients as much as we can.. online games don’t stream video, they just send real time data and sync game state to server, the actual video rendering happens on the client.. and there are many more factors which makes for the statement “cloud doesn’t work that way”
as far as I am concerned... no changes in last 20 years for people. Simply Windows are in regress. Computers are less stable, no software to simply edit photos, etc.... a lot of talk, and colored rectangles, but same same nonsense. I dont need AI, predictive, all that sheety slow and expensive stuff.
I think your misinformed Amazon competitors are Walmart Microsoft Google Apple Facebook Ups FedEx Spotify SoundCloud Netflix Hulu And many many more if you mean a competitor to shipping then no but Amazon is more than one business or a company with like a Amazon prime then no again
WHEN YOU PUT A MEDIOCRE JOURNALIST TO INTERVIEW BECOMES SOGGY BECAUSE INTERVIEWER DRAGS DOWN TO HIS LEVEL TO FURTHER THE TALK INSTEAD OF FLOW OF THOUGHTS EXPRESSED NATURALLY ! AMERICA IS LOOSING THAT LEVEL OF FINENESS !

I second that.

Why doesn't Xbox one X use the cloud to make all games 4k like Microsoft said " Cloud " is more Powerful than a PC
Cloud doesn't work that way

Yo:Ya deja de matarme de cringe
One is fishing for compliments ... the other is full of himself ...at the end of the day just a manager ... never been an entrepreneur ...
every business becomes AI business..... another BS - genius.
This clown brings an Apple phone to a Microsoft interview ... At the very least don"t make it so disrespectfully obvious.
Why does this guy feel.. disingenuous to me ?
