  • “Don’t wait for your next job to do your best work. Think about every job you get as the most important job.” ⁣-Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft

In 2014, Satya Nadella was appointed CEO of Microsoft, making him only the third leader in the software company's 40-year history, following Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. Since taking over, Microsoft’s share price has tripled. Nadella spoke to students about cultivating a sense of culture and purpose, and how through relationships with others, work becomes more than transactional. ⁣

Nadella was interviewed by Tara Hill, MBA ‘20, as part of View From The Top, the dean’s premier speaker series.

    The lessons I have learnt:
1- all bold people are so damn positive.
2- Having sense of purpose is important.
3- Make your team feel included and be a supportive manager
4- We are always always imperfect
    5- Build your own Attitude
6- Your purpose should be as explicit as you can
    7- Empathy, Empathy, empathy
8- Don’t wait for your next job to do your best work. Think about every job you grt as the most important one😊

Not sure if I should say that I’m amazed with way the interviewer has framed her questions (all of which indicative that she is very well informed) or the CEO who did not seem uncomfortable or hesitant (again indicative that he very well knows the things around). Overall a great interview - Kudos to the interviewer for framing the right questions to the right person. Loved every minute of this discussion.

Satya is like Monk dressed in business suit. His simplicity and the way he look at things are so full of humbleness. Technology driven by Empathy is probably the thought that ever technology company should adopt at its core. The sense of empathy in general have risen up in last few years after pandemic and global turmoil, so it becomes far more important then ever.
Kudos to Tara who listened so carefully and transitioned to new set of questions in seamless manner.
