I recently tried to put in an order for a Green Honda Trail 125 with a local dealer. The dealer wasn't able to give me a delivery date nor any assurance he could get one but insisted that I place a deposit on one if I wanted it. We didn't get to the price yet, but I wasn't in a position to place a deposit on an indefinite delivery. So, I left without placing the order. I know this bike has a list price of $3,995, so I didn't imagine it would be more than around $4,700 out the door. Boy was I in for a surprise. I got a call about two weeks later from the dealer to say they got it in and wanted me to come by to check it out. Before doing so, I asked for the OTD price first. I got a quote for $6,700. I indicated that that was just way over my budget, but he said he could talk to his manager. I figured that even if we haggled, the price was still going to be far more than I cared to spend on this bike. So, I ended up letting it go for now. To me, it is not worth having to pay over $5K for this bike. But that is my opinion on this. Oh, BTW, I am in California, so we have stricter laws on emissions. So, I imagine part of the higher costs are related to that; I'm not having it. Anyway, let me know what you think of the pricing on this bike; is it a fair price, over-priced, or what?
I noticed at my local shop they had 2 in inventory. Called them up and both are available can't believe it. I think I might pull the trigger first thing Monday morning.
@@Mike-dd8bd Just don't get over-priced for it; again, the sticker price is $3,995, so all other fees included should not be over $4,900. but the dealer expects you to believe it is a buyer's market, and they can set the price. Don't fall for it; haggle like he77 before signing off on a new Trail 125... and I do hope you get the bike. ; )
Ditto in Orange County Ca. However these bikes are in such high demand, I was on list of 40 plus people that had deposits on one. I got a call that one had arrived after 2 months of waiting and I lost it because I couldn’t pick it up within 48 hours as I was leaving town for Memorial Day. Then waited another 6 weeks and finally got it. Out the door about $6,300 but it totally kicks ass.
Damn you really do get fcuked by car and bike dealers in the US. In the UK the price advertised is the price you pay, I've never understood your system. We don't even get the CT125 officially in the UK so i had to order mine through a UK importer who did all the work. As the bikes a grey import my importer got the bike officially assessed, registered and ready to ride for £4990 all in, all i had to do was collect. Personal annual costs are only £150 insurance plus £24 road tax. First ride yesterday, 90 miles done, love it.
I really wanted the green but I found a used 22 in red with 600 miles and I really like the red in person, mine came with the center rack, back seat with black foot pegs and I blacked out the exhaust guards which really makes the bike pop.
I felt the same way about green until I saw it in person. Now I think it's great. I'd still rather have a bright yellow or orange like CT's back in the day
