I am an army veteran, now civilian. According to this video, I'm a wannabe. That being said I encourage every American to be a wannabe. We all need to wannabe a supporter of our 2nd amendment right. Let's all be wannabe's.
Quick tip for anyone watching this video from a USAF Vet that carried an M4/M249 every day for six years. Don't listen to this video. The AR platform is just like any other gun. It does some things well and some things poorly. There is no "Do all the best" gun. For people that are not being professionally trained, the AR platform is a great way to learn about shooting. There are a variety of price ranges available. Everyone is going to have their preferences, but you can get into the game for around $500 if you know where to look or who to ask. At home defense ranges .223/5.56 are very lethal. If you want a rifle that will reach out further, go buy a new upper. The ability to have one rifle with multiple purposes with a simple upper swap is invaluable for the prepping community. Don't like the .223/5.56, what flavor would you like? We have .22lr - .50ae, as well as options for 7.62x39 that take AK mags. This video is this guys opinion on AR-15', and like most opinions it stinks and is probably hairy. Yes, even mine. However, to blatantly claim that anyone who owns and AR is a "soldier wannabe" is just a croc. The rifle has far too much utility nowadays to be relegated to "functional cosplay".
Excellent points, I would just add that the simple fact that the U.S. military has been fighting many wars around the world with this platform and caliber. Personally, I call it the super duper .22
Benefits of 5.56 that counter many of the points in this video: 1. One of the cheapest centerfire rifle rounds to train with 2. One of the most available at stores 3.Won't overpenetrate as bad as a more powerful cartridge would 4. Low recoil means anyone can shoot it 5. Wounding to incapacitation is sufficient for defense 6. Just because you have a 30 round magazine doesn't mean you have to be wasteful. 7. If the amount of shots fired in self defense is so low, then what calibers is that being done with? I'll give you a hint: it's not .50BMG It's common small calibers like 9mm and 5.56; indicating that it is not "underpowered" for most defense needs There is no one size fits all caliber or weapon. Buy several and train with all of them.
Yep, I agree with your list, the technical aspects of the rifle make it a happy compromise. However, the reason a lot of gun guys want an AR15 is because they are imagining some fantasy situation where the end of the world gives them “permission” to kill people with a gun. Whether you like it or not, it’s these geniuses that gravitate towards the AR15 and give the gun that stench of stupid. It is pretty unlikely that society will collapse in our lifetimes, and the AR15 is far too much gun for self defense in the civilized world. That’s my two cents anyway
You mentioned incapacitation. Fifty years ago, we were taught that incapacitation was good. It takes 2-3 guys to take care of casualties. "And gentlemen, THAT is why booby traps work so well for Charlie."
@@TheMrASSTASTIC Guys - the comment section is out of control - go on down there and see why it's better not to count on your Ar-15 for survival purposes...
US Marine here. We don’t carry full auto m16s any more. They are M4 carbines that have 3 round burst at the most and we almost never use that. If the round is so ineffective then why has it been in service for about 60 years? Award yourself all the wannabe points for making this video. I will award myself one wannabe point for wasting my time making this comment.
Apparently, I need to learn to type shorter sentences. I typed the exact same sentiment, except from the perspective of an Army Infantryman, about a month before this comment, and it didn't seem to have any impact at all on the people viewing this dumbass video. Oh well, however the information gets out is good for me. This video is ridiculous, is the main point.
Simple economics, as well as defense industry cronyism, is why the 5.56 has lasted as long as it has. But anyone with eyes and ears has known that the 5.56 has been on life support for years now. It isn't that the 5.56 "isn't effective." It's that the 5.56 "isn't effective enough." It has obvious, documented, real world limitations that our forces had to find workarounds for. There are reasons why the military is moving to the 6.8. They are the same reasons why those in the field said we should have never moved away from the 7.62 in the first place. The guy who made the video isn't wrong. If you are picking a rifle to take into the apocalypse (or into battle) you could do a whole lot better than an AR platform firing a 5.56. Also, in case you weren't aware, the US Army started converting all of its M4s to full auto M4A1s a couple years ago. Maybe 2016? Why? Because of the limitations of the platform + caliber. But it is a placeholder refit. Meant to try and boost effectiveness until the entire platform and caliber get replaced. It simply isn't a great caliber for combat. Adequate? I suppose. But do you want to put your life in the hands of "adequate?"
I just looked it up and the Marine Corps is doing the same thing. They are replacing all their M4s with the M27 IAR. The announcement that every M4 would be replaced with the "Infantry Automatic Rifle" in *every* infantry squad was in 2017. Had me wondering if your claim that you were a marine was bogus. Because if you were, you should have known this already. Then I remembered "once a marine, always a marine" and figured you simply weren't in anymore and had no idea what was happening. But make no mistake, the combat units in the Army and Marines are not kitted with semi/3rb anymore. They are fitted with genuine "assault rifles" in full auto.
Funny how Milley says the 5.56 doesn’t have the mass to penetrate the body armor worn the the enemy. The same enemy that got over 80 billion dollars of our armor and weapons. Great job

A real full power rifle cartridge (which excludes both AR15 and AK47) will ALWAYS be superior for everything except for the weight of carrying a similar number of rounds or for girls and girly men who can not handle the power of a real battle rifle!
@@RejectedRecords1998 The entire reason the NGSW program exists is because the 7.62x39 rifles US troops encountered in Afghanistan were just as effective at closer ranges as 5.56 and able to engage at significantly longer ranges than the 200-400 meters max the M4A1 could be effective. It’s not “Soviet propaganda”, it’s the US military saying this. Other militaries have also taken this lesson, with the UK issuing 1-2 soldiers in a section with a 7.62 Nato DMR in place of a machine gun, and India adopting a battle rifle in 308 to equip some of their troops.
I’ll cut through ALL the discussion: AR15 is a great rifle because it’s accurate, reliable, plenty powerful for its intended purpose(taking into consideration the bullet type argument), affordable, easy to learn, light recoil. The type of rifle ANYONE can shoot. THIS IS WHY THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO HAVE IT. Including this FUDD.

Miss that the armor you're talking about is also rated to stop armor piercing 30-06 which is the cartridge the M1 garand fired, and also will stop the ammo from the other rifles you compared it to 5. Think that just because you don't have air support means you shouldn't have an effective easy to use rifle

Not a wannabe. I’m an actual soldier. “Wannabe” is an ad hominem not an argument anyway. We don’t need any “legitimate” reasons to have these weapons. However on your hunting argument it’s geographically dependent. Where I live in west Texas 222 Remington was quite popular there is little vegetation and our game is not quite as big as up north. 223/5.56 has supplanted 222 Remington as the hunting caliber of choice due to its wide availability also ARs due to they being much more handy and less expensive than bolt action rifles in the same caliber.
Anyone else get the suspicion this guy is against all "assualt rifles", not just 5.56? The fact that he said "take a point if you haven't been under automatic fire" and "if you don't have air/artillery support". Seems like an attack on any idea of defence against a government. @@lawfulspoon4457 Perfectly stated! I'm convinced the lack of lethality of the M-4/5.56 has more to do with marksmanship training than anything else. You can't stop the target if you can't hit it, and anyone who can't hit targets is surely not going to be able to score hits on a two-way-range.
1:15 To give you idea how knowledgeable this video is, right off the bat: The AR15 is NOT made with stamped metal parts. It is milled aluminum. Pretty sure the only stamped metal part on an AR is the ejection port cover....and it's not even a necessary part for the rifle to operate.🙄 I don't know who this guy is, but he doesn't even know the construction of an AR15.
Actually, the lower receiver is forged out of aluminum, which is a type of forming that could be construed as stamping. If you have ever watched the process, it could be misinterpreted as stamping. I understand your point, but only billet lower receivers are milled.
Honestly kind of thought the same thing, especially with all the recent comments. Although I am enjoying the comments much better than this dumb video.
The AR-15 is not stamped metal. The whole reason it’s such a great SHTF rifle is the fact that so many people have them and the ammo is super common. This video is misleading. It’s not that black and white.
1- The AR-15 isn't made out of stamped steel, it's forged steel and aluminum, with furniture of different materials. 2- The military doesn't use the M4 or M16 weapons for automatic fire, even though they do have that capability. 3- Small point, but the Army's current round is a 62gr bullet, not a 63gr bullet. 4- The ability to make rapid follow-up shots is an advantage regardless of application or activity, whether or not you're in full auto or semi. 5- 5.56 ammo doesn't rely on fragmentation, it either relies on yawing or tumbling, or on expansion depending on bullet type. Finally, even outside of the military, pretty much every cluefull individual in professional applied interpersonal violence uses the AR-15, in settings where the engagement range is as closes as just outside arms length, to 600+ yards. But yeah, it's just a wannabe gimmick rifle. Thanks for the laugh.
@@owenfinley8990 No, you're wrong. Yes, 55gr and 62gr tumble, but the tumbling causes fragmentation. The newer m855a1 and mk318 rounds were purposely designed to fragment.
I guess the the fact there are millions of 5.56 and .223 rifles in the USA under control of civilians, veterans, and police says nothing about the usefulness and versatility of these weapons. To add too your point, The Entire reason OP ignores for having an AR for HD/“Truck Gun”(as back up for one’s EDC handgun on their person) is as follow: out of a shotgun, hand gun or ARMOR 15 w/XM193 or 77grain OTM/HPBT’s they have the least over penetration, Good Magazine capacity for multiple attackers given realistically you’ll fight with what in/on the gun Ammo wise. Easiest of the 3 to get accurate rounds on target. Due to low recoil easier for anyone even who may have minimal training to get accurate rounds on target if a spouse or older child needs to use it. It will immediately incapacitated the threat, vs even if fatal hits w/ hand gun rounds are well placed that would Allow them to continue to pose a threat as they bleed out(sans a CNS hit to brain stem/off switch). Also Very maneuverable from 11.5-14.5” inside of home that can still reach out to a few hundred yards if one lives in a rural area who needs to cover a wide variety of distances. Also, to his point on LV4 Body armor, while black tip .308/.30-06 exists in Civilian hands, it is not likely to be possessed in large enough quantities to be considered a valid threat In a shtf scenario. This leads many folks to choose to go with lighter ceramic weight lv3+ over LV4 plates. As IF according to OP such guns pose no significant threat then he should care who own what, BUT I’d guess he is also the type who would also support the banning of all semi auto magazine fed rifles/pistols/shotguns from civilian hands, eliminating 90-95% of all firearms in civilian hands in the us.

I was in the actual Army and 300m was our furthest reach during qualification, and I was only on a few ranges where 400 was even possible. The M16 started its service life with a 20" barrel which, even now, offers optimum velocity and reach with this rifle platform. Over the years the rifle got shorter and shorter, finally at just over 14" for the M4. The military realized that portability and ease of use were more beneficial to soldiers than max reach. If the military reached that conclusion, what does this guy know that the military does not?
I know very few people who can effectively shoot 300 yards with iron sights. I am 69 years old and would have trouble spotting "deer" at three hundred yards.
Honestly 400 yards is pushing for 5.56/.223 anyway truthfully it was made to engage at 100 -300 yards and its performance is sub optimal outside that range tending to pass through without much tumbling and thus do less damage than standard caliber pistols with hollow point at close range. Its not useless but I can't think of single thing its the best at nor is jack of all trades. Honestly the only I ever found nice about it is its easy to shoot. Its just overhyped and nothing special.
1. The AR15 was not adopted for its “automatic capabilities” it was adopted because it was light weight and allowed the soldier to carry significantly more ammunition. In fact, military doctrine globally is pretty much unanimous on the fact that full automatic fire is relegated to emergencies, and precision aimed fire is what is practiced 99.99999999% of the time. The reduced caliber is based on the fact that post WW2 research showed that engagement distances were within 300m, well within the range of 5.56. The lack of lethality seen in Afghanistan is because of the adoption of M855, which is a flawed round that was adopted because they made too much of it. M193 is the MOST common 5.56 loading, and out of 16 inch barrels can penetrate level IIIa body armor. AND in a home defense scenario, M193 is sufficiently lethal, low recoil, with LESS penetration through interior walls than buckshot and even handgun rounds due to the cartridges inherent fragmentation. In fact, this fragmentation is part of why it’s been reported that 5.56 has better lethality within 300m than even 7.62x51. TLDR: this guy is talking out his ass, and every point he’s made is verifiably false
A lot of his argument also ignores the phenomenal performance of M855A1, which (aside from the much higher chamber pressure) is a superior design to essentially every other 5.56 variant out there.
The Army is switching to the Sig Fury, which is basically identical in performance to the 308 that was used in the M14 for the few years of Vietnam that it took them to realize that it had been a mistake.
A huge thing people forget about the AR-15 and 5.56 NATO is that is was designed to be shot out of a 20" barrel to get up to high velocity and keep them high, once you go under 18" your just giving yourself a handicap (I would mess around by using an M16A4 and using M4 lowers and even aftermarket parts, the M16 stock had a perfect length of pull for me but I did not want semi and burst, swapped out a my M16 receiver with an M4 and I would bring standard milspec parts with me and I acquired all the parts for an M4 trigger from a friendly armourer, all new, swapped out a few parts that did not cost me much and went on it with a dremmel, managed to give it a light but sharp trigger pull with a good reset, could have purchased an aftermarket trigger for 250 or so but knowing It could go missing at any time I would rather not. People would always rip on me for carrying a musket instead of an M4 like everyone else, I was luck I was always allowed to choose an M16, always some confusion when some guy was complaining his rifle on full auto was malfunctioning. I was told quite a few times of people being shot by M4s and it taking quite a few rounds to take them down while a single shot from an M16 would drop them. You get more range and you really want that in a place like Afghanistan. I have a stupid amount of AK ammo as in a rediculous amount. My uncle stocked up on 7.62x39 spam cans in the 80s and 90s as well as Chinese AKs and SKKs rifles all preban. When I got into guns we stocked up slot of 7.62x25 as it was just a few cents a round in bulk and out of a tok it can pass 3A we made a few AK rifle and pistols that would take PPSH drums and mags. Out of a 16.5 inch barrel for a pistol round some would come up at 2000FPS + but that bulgy SMG ammo was crazy hot, it shot flat, had to adjust and remark the sights but we could make hits out to 300 / 400m with some practise, 250 /300 with the 12.5 Inch barrels. What we stocked up on the most was 7N6 5.45x39 and in bulk it was just crazy cheap, his father passed by then but he was an FFL and while not rich he always had a lot of savings, he purchased nearly 2 million round and some change and it worked out to be a few cents around maybe 3 or under 3 but that was when it first came in crazy cheap. He said one day Russia would mess up and this ammunition that's great for hunting smaller game, is accurate and he predicted it could be used in ARs would just go up in value especially as its milspec. He did buy alot of AK parts kits and then got a lot of 74 parts kits. When the siagas came out with a dimple he purchased thousands and converted many, the same with VEPR rifles. Honestly I think VEPRS are the best AKs made and he managed to find square backs in 7.62x39 5.45 and 54r of different barrel sizes. I built one with him a 16.5 inch and converted it to a standard AK pattern with a folding bulgy triangle trunnion. The draganiv long barrel 54R VEPRS made him very happy as he stocked up so much 54R and a lot of mosins when they first came in, he predicted that they would work out a way to put a good optic on it and it would be the cheapist hunting rifle and caliber. He was dead on the money with that. Has a crazy amount of 8mm mauser and we purchased hundreds of Yugo M48 milled mausers, all in perfect condition with acessorys. Most looked like they where never shot. He did buy a lot of straight pull Swiss rifles and ammo but not as many as they where never that cheap, he got a lot if those cicom SKS rifles from Albania as he knew people would want them for the military provinence. We kept on buying surplus ammo for good deals throughout. The last large amount of rifles we purchased where all different types of Finnish mosins that had been converted and he got hundreds as he was told they would rocket up in price due to the quality of the rifles. Have hundreds and so many looked unfired but so smooth to shoot and very accurate with surplus ammo. After he passed I was very surprised to see he left me everything as he said I was like a son and treated him like a father while the rest of the family hardly ever visited or called him. I was only 28 and he had a orenup with his wife from the Philippines that was a few years older than me, I let her stay. It took me a month with a lot of help to put all the guns in cosmoline and vaccume pack them and put them back into crates. All ammo not in spam cans where vaccume packed with silica gel. It all went into safe storage fully insured for a stupid amount. I really wish he told it all and blew it on a world tour and a fun retirement but that's the way things go. A year later my own father died at a young age in the UK and I have just managed to sell his businesses. I let his ex wife stay in one of his smaller property's rent free and said just collect the rent from the others and we will call it even and you get a big apartment for the rest of your life. I assumed she would go nuts but they where only married for 4 years with no kids and she seems very thankful that I let her keep the car he purchased her. She has her own nail salon so is doing OK but if she genuinely needed help I would help her as he would want that. I messed up and got wrecked one night and she ended up sleeping with me, I'm sure he would have found that to be very funny. If SHTF I would go with the 74 folder with a good optic with a 20 inch barrel and a flash hider as the muzzel break is long and overkill. I have some 60 round coffin mags that I've never had a problem with and parts to make it full auto, I all ready have suppressors and some full auto weapons but no AKs. The bullets are light, just as accurate as a rack M16, with the folding stock and wooden dong forgrip plus optic it's about the same weight as the M4 but since I can fold it I can put it in a rucksack or guitar case or something. The ammo is light as steel is lighter, it's quite a bit lighter than 5.56, also I can load it onto 15 round stripper clips and use a spoon to load mags. But I would probably just carry it in vaccume sealed battle packs. It can go just as far as a 5.56 from a 20 inch AR but the wounding of subsonic 7N6 is deviststing. It yaws and tumbles like crazy and it often makes a 90 degree turn and sometimes the exit wounds are 90 degrees, I would be confident shooting pretty much anything with it. But tula, brown bear, wolf, golden tiger all of them are ubderloaded and don't have any of that wounding potential. 7N6 is very cossosive but you can go a day or 2 without needing to clean it, the barrel won't ever corrode due to the crazy thick chrome lining. Soviets would use an alkaline solution that they would mix with hot water but apparently urine does a great job of removing salts so just piss in an old bottle or down the chamber and on all the parts then wash of with water, use a solvent and a bore snake on the parts then a liberal amount of oil. The good thing about the VEPR is all of the parts are more beefy. If you fire 7N6 with a suppressor then it's a lot of cleaning. For pistols I love CZ75 style even if it's polymer framed, my carry gun is a CZ P07. For me it would be hard to choose the right pistol a CZ in 9mm and 10mm would be great. 10mm especially for dangerous animals and hunting. I do love the new production Yugo tokarev as it has a real safety but it's a single stack that can holt 9+1 but will go though body armour. I own some big bore revolvers as if you cast and reload they are fun and cheap to shoot and I do actually own a raging judge as it can take down most things and then birds shot shells for snakes but .410 is not really common. It'd nice you can use .45acp in moon clips for target practise but reloading .454 cassul with cast lead is not expensive same with .45 colt. You would also want to stack up on slot of food. I could get my arsenal out (the really rough mosins go to the worst guys/girls) and have a personal army.
I agree. It's almost as if this guy is for banning AR-15s so make some videos for propaganda. When you hear somebody say"there are other larger calibers that are more effective". Yes there's always a larger caliber that is more effective. I mean we could all just carry around 50 BMG's for Pete's sake! But practicality is a different story especially when it comes to logistics . With private citizens or the military. Yes you can carry a 7.62, but that's going to weigh almost twice as much. Also less capacity. The 556 or 223 are a good one size fits all Calibur, much like the 9mm. They get the job done.
Stamped metal parts? No disrespect ment but this isnt an AK. We are talking about milled components. In my opinion, such as it is, the AR15 and such style firearms are among the best platform currently available on the market, especially for civilians. Simple, easy to operate and maintain with endless combinations
Ya I heard that then considered pointing out all the statement's he made that were factually wrong. Not just opinion based, but totally inaccurate. But that would required many paragraph's to list everything he said that was wrong. One can have opinions and not be wrong because that's your opinion but he was wrong on facts, circumstances, and interpretations he made based off his opinion. IRONICALLY he seems anti 2A but if he argues why we need such guns we should just forward him his own video.
I was starting to comment a list of things that were wrong in this but stopped because I wasnt trying to write a book here. Like wtf is wrong with this guy.
The owner of this dusty old channel is NOT American. In fact, he has a heavy accent that he's heavily masking. Pay attention to how every syllable is analogous to a "stamped" part, repeated and used in a robotic fashion. The same emphasis and cadence over and over. This is NOT a natural way of speaking no matter what western theme background music is used to distract from the fact. And the name Ser Jeff Garzik does not sound American. It's a derivitive of Sergeoff. What kind of American insults the majority of freedom loving Americans?? So don't let this communist ruffle your feathers.
To be fair, the original M16 had stamped steel inside the handguard. Some other bits and bobs were stamped too, nothing structural or critical to the firearm's function, of course. We all know this clueless fuck is not aware about that; hell, stamping =/= cheap is just wrong and the SIG55X series proves that, but whatever.
I don't understand why you hate a weapon that is a perfect designed weapon for self defense, something that i wish we had here in Australia. You're an absolute boomer mate
@Yuvi A mate you are obviously uneducated on the subject, I'm from a country that has some of the most intense gun laws in the world and even I can tell you i would be much more confident using a 5.56, putting multiple rounds on target than using a 308 and risk missing a shot. Just because the rounds bigger doesn't mean its more effective
@Yuvi A you're talking about using it against animals where you are the hunter, i can garuntee that you will prefer something lighter, shorter, more ergonomic and accurate in a situation that involves Stress, Fatigue, Fear and adrenaline. I'm not trying to be a fuckwitt about it mate, i just think that its pretty obvious why the AR-15/M4 platform is made for combat/self defense
@Yuvi A i agree with what you're stating and every weapon/ammunition has its time and place but I'm guessing that you aren't against AR-15's like this bloke making the video?
@Yuvi A thanks for the information mate and the consideration. I live 100k's outside of Brisbane so it hasn't affected me as much yet but you can bet your last dollar that i'll be out in the streets when it comes
If you've ever pulled a handgun on a citizen open carrying an AR for personal protection, and lost that encounter, then score yourself another wannabe bicep
Omg I laughed SO hard at him legitimately claiming the best gun in a shtf scenario is a fucking 5 shot revolver that shoot shot gun shells that are far less effective than a bullet the same size. Hes a tard
Rittenhouse, an untrained 17 year old, went 3 for 3 in stopping his attackers in Kenosha last year with a $500 entry level AR and garbage-tier .223 FMJ and the rest of the rioters standing around knew he still had enough ammo to keep stacking bodies if they kept supplying justifiable targets... just sayin’... sounds like a fine light rifle to tote around during civil unrest to me.
What a ridiculous argument. Almost anything would have suited the actions he took. Rittenhouse shot 3 guys at point black range. A 2" barreled .38 could have done that just as well, plus had nothing to make him as obvious a target or for pedos to grab onto.
THIS. Absolutely this. AR-15s are excellent weapons for public unrest type situations where you may be faced with a large group of people at close range. And since China isn't likely invading, and the zombies probably aren't going to come, that's the most realistic near term scenario we face. Stuff a few mags in your pockets and you can carry A LOT of ammo in a very light weight and easy to use platform. Very comforting to have, even if you're not looking for trouble. At close range, even a small 10inch AR will completely dick someone up. Makes a great vehicle gun, backpack gun, etc. Move up to 300 blackout in a small PDW type platform and you'll have an excellent tool for 99% of any realistic scenarios a civilian will need a defensive/offensive rifle for. If you need to penetrate body armor for...reasons, then a 16inch or greater platform with good ol 55gr FMJ rounds will defeat the vast majority of steel plates, including plates rated for 5.56. Velocity is your friend for sure though on that last point. In any event this video is absolute bullshit.
I have an ar15. I was a soldier and did all the stuff this video calls me a wannabe over. This video is boldly spoken by someone that took bidens advice and "bought a shotgun"
He talks about 5.56 not penetrating lvl 4 body armor... Then talks up the 6.8 and how the military is switching to it. 6.8 also does not penetrate lvl 4 armor LMAO
@sheparddog117 " tell me you are full of hot air in your youtube screen name alone" No. This is just a massive collection of long debunked fudd lore presented as "fact". 1) just because a military has level 4 armor, does not mean every soldier is wearing it in every situation, or that there are not multiple other ways to neutralize them.armor is only effetive if it gets in front of the bullets, while it might stop you from dying right away from a chest wound, doesnt do much for a hit on the extremities. No army feilds an infantry in full bomb disposal suits. Most have a hard enough time getting soldiers to wear front & back plates. 2)The military is LOOKING to replace the m240... Not 5.56 wholesale. But bonus points for taking a nugget of truth COMPLETELY out of context to support your preconceived opinions. 3)5.56 has LONG proven its effectiveness in combat, as well as seen world wides addoption. A few dubios anecdotes are NOTHING compared to the real world data thats been collected and studied. This brand of " 5.56 is a weak round" bs is just as bad as every other caliber debate. " i know a guy who was shot with a 32 acp but his sweater stopped the bullet." You know that 308 wont go through level 4 plates either... ...
@@gregusmc2868 sure. But lets be fair, if you had a choice between a brand new, modern issue rifle, and one that the soviets shipped in by the truckload to hand out for free in the 70s, with potentially MILLIONS of rounds through the barrel at this point... Who wouldn't tale WHATEVER that rifle was. They probably could have all been 9mm carbines and theyd have done the same thing. They dont look at it as " what does my firearm choice say about who i am" as American consumers tend to. They are just looking for something that ISNT falling apart at this point. While i was only BREIFLY in afganistan, i was deployed in other parts if the world that Russia dumped aks into. mostly on the african continent; and countries that were less than "stable" in the mid to late 90s. Speaking strictly anecdotally, and from what IVE seen, heard, and had told to me by captured " local insurgents" and their supporters armed with the old russian aks, theyd probably be better off with a 10/22, or in Some cases, a single shot rifle in ANY caliber.
This has to be satire. I would think a veteran and active first responder would have some clue of what he is talking about. Many others have commented on the obvious lies, but the one that screamed in my head was about level IV body armor. NIJ standard is one round of 30-06.
Weird. I seem to remember M4s working just fine when I was in Afghanistan in the infantry (where practically no one ever used them on full auto except in very rare cases). You know who has probably posed for at least one regrettable selfie with their rifle? Every infantryman since the invention of the camera. This dude sounds like he doesn’t know wtf he’s talking about and just doesn’t like ARs. “Don’t get this rifle because soldiers use it, and if you’re not a soldier you’re a poser!” Miss me with that gate keeping bullshit. Been in the military 15 years and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with someone (military or civilian) rocking their own AR and enjoying their second amendment protected rights for whatever the hell reason they want.
I wholeheartedly agree, I couldn't take most the video seriously because its basically just 10 minutes worth the gatekeeping. His point about level IIII body armor is entirely irrelevant to any civilian imo.
Outstanding, couldnt say it better myself. Thanks to civ improving midlength gas (bcm xmil/civ now) and I only had issues with 249(abused) and mk19 (no grease from supply) m9(poor parts) vs like wilson combat beretta (night and day)
Looking at this channel, limited output, this is clearly a disinfo op. Would be interested to know who was financing it. Last video attacked AR when AR sales were going through the roof, didn't work, so whomever was behind this dumpster fire of lies and half-wittery apparently decided to spend their money elsewhere when dumping on American liberties.
You've gotta be trolling. I used this platform in combat in Iraq. It is plenty lethal. Good ammo fragments reliably, and if you think it's a gimmick go Google 5.56mm exit wounds. See how gimmicky you think it is then.
@@ahnafkalam The M855 green tips are what I used in combat. They're not the best, but they are absolutely fine in most applications this dingbat is talking about. Against anything better than level III+ armor they're useless though. The M855A1 is still a good round, but it's not going to fair well against a near-peer force with good body armor. For home defense any rifle is terrible because they are all going to punch right through the walls of your home like paper. Want to accidentally kill your family? Use a rifle. Otherwise use a pistol.
Heavier bullet won't do sh1t to pen armor. It may hurt more, but unless your going to start giving people .338s your not going through the armor. But there's something called shooting enough times you hit somewhere unprotected
@@Nathan-jh1ho one problem with full lv 4 ceramic armor is that it shatters, and while NIJ standards claim that it can stop .308 and 30-06 ap ammo, these claims aren't true 100% of the time. Not to mention that they only stop that shot once in that area.
If you think an AR-15 is not lethal score yourself a point. If you say meters instead of yards score yourself a point. If you think a 5.56 won’t go through a bullet proof vest score yourself a point. If you think 1300 ft pounds of energy won’t kill score yourself another point. What will get you killed is thinking that the 5.56 is not lethal. Just ask someone who has been shot by it. Arghandab RV 09-10 1-17 INF (wife's account). The 5.56 was 100% NEVER used in auto there other than from SAWs. The 5.56 was rediculous lethal and most targets only took 2-3 rounds to take down.

Great to see you comment on this. I imagine this must be made by a group of freedom haters, the presentation is to well made to be one FUD all by himself
He's right, we should all be using fully automatic rifles. And if we're not, we should be using belt fed machine guns and high-caliber hunting rifles. And armored vehicles as well as air support. In short, we should have what our government has, if not better. That was his message.
That's fine. If you own an ammo factory or are extremely rich. One Javelin missile costs more than my house did. LOL In principle I agree 100% and you should be able to own whatever you want. But, I think his point is civilians don't have the other resources of a military industrial complex. Which means we can't call for a supply drop of 10,000 rounds if we need it. For me the biggest issue is civilians not having MASH units and hospitals staffed by competent surgeons.

That is where long range weapons would be better at armored targets as you can place shots more easily before they even know you are there.
I wouldn't doubt this was made by the DNC.

Benefits of 5.56 that counter many of the points in this video:
1. One of the cheapest centerfire rifle rounds to train with
2. One of the most available at stores
3.Won't overpenetrate as bad as a more powerful cartridge would
4. Low recoil means anyone can shoot it
5. Wounding to incapacitation is sufficient for defense
6. Just because you have a 30 round magazine doesn't mean you have to be wasteful.
7. If the amount of shots fired in self defense is so low, then what calibers is that being done with? I'll give you a hint: it's not .50BMG It's common small calibers like 9mm and 5.56; indicating that it is not "underpowered" for most defense needs
There is no one size fits all caliber or weapon.

Great job
Nothing like using Milley as a source. That is on par with asking Fauci for quotes on COVID. Both have a proven record of being WRONG on everything.
5.56 is good at shorter distances (like maybe out to 100 yards). Beyond that, the big stick (7.62) is much superior for taking down the adversary!
@@waynek805 Quit lying to yourself. You've been brainwashed by Soviet propaganda.
@@RejectedRecords1998 just to clarify, I am not talking AK47 (7.62x39) but 7.62x51 NATO (aka 308 Win), not that I care WTF you say!

Answer this question if the AR15 is so useless. Why is our government working so hard to take Em away?
1:15 To give you idea how knowledgeable this video is, right off the bat: The AR15 is NOT made with stamped metal parts. It is milled aluminum. Pretty sure the only stamped metal part on an AR is the ejection port cover....and it's not even a necessary part for the rifle to operate.🙄
I don't know who this guy is, but he doesn't even know the construction of an AR15.
Actually, the lower receiver is forged out of aluminum, which is a type of forming that could be construed as stamping. If you have ever watched the process, it could be misinterpreted as stamping. I understand your point, but only billet lower receivers are milled.

@sheparddog117 There is zero reason to support the NRA. Never been a member never will. There is no myth of “gun grabbing Democrat”, one merely needs to listen to literally anyone anyone from that party promotes, supports or proposes legislation wise to see that their only goal is total disarmament. It’s far from a myth is merely a fact of what they have evolved into. Last, fuck everyone who supported the bump stock ban. As, there are many thing that are imperfect but you cannot argue that the Democratic Party has done anything except assault the entirety of the bill of right non-stop for the past decade. Neither party is perfect, yet if you cannot see that the attempts to violate the bill or rights, the violation of the separation of powers to “write new law, via re-interpretation of existing case law” to twist it to mean whatever the fuck they want, regarding, frames and receivers, pistol braces and them going after forced reset trigger such as rare breed, is merely the, pulling shit out of their ass at the direction of the current administration who is incapable of trampling our rights through congress so instead is weaponing the executive branch and attempted to with the stoke of a pen create up to 40,000,000+ felons over night for violating these so called re-interpretation of existing case law.

Naval EOD here who tasked out with everyone from national guard units to SEAL teams. I completely agree, his argument that we all used full auto fire and that is why the M4 is effective is ridiculous. We almost exclusively used semi auto fire, I can count on my hand how many times I switched to full auto in all my combat engagements. The other argument that is not lethal enough is equally ridiculous, under 200 yards I've seen the 5.56mm be absolutely devastating to non body armored enemy combatants. You'll seldom have a scenario where you'll find yourself engaged past two to three hundred yards, especially in urban environments. The body armor position is also kinda irrelevant, as plates will stop almost all conventional calibers excluding 50BMG..This dude is using some weird boomer shaming tactic..

Sounds like a wanna be ATF agent, any reason to give up your gun.
"If you haven't engaged a target out to 400m with an AR15, score another wannabe point."
He just says that like it's gospel truth and moves on.
He knows who just scored another wanna be point. J/k fook this guy
Thanks!
@@georgechristiansen6785 true, he had the AR because he wasn’t old enough to get a pistol.
If you need to penetrate body armor for...reasons, then a 16inch or greater platform with good ol 55gr FMJ rounds will defeat the vast majority of steel plates, including plates rated for 5.56. 1) just because a military has level 4 armor, does not mean every soldier is wearing it in every situation, or that there are not multiple other ways to neutralize them.armor is only effetive if it gets in front of the bullets, while it might stop you from dying right away from a chest wound, doesnt do much for a hit on the extremities. No army feilds an infantry in full bomb disposal suits. Most have a hard enough time getting soldiers to wear front & back plates.

Another Iraq serving clown.
Good to know you take honour in your service of an illegal war.
If the AR did not work, they wouldn't want it gone....
Do you hate the AR15 because Americans like it? Score yourself another Fudd point.

Quoting Mark Milley as an expert source on military doctrine has definitely aged like milk.
I was going to comment that, beat me too it.
Heavier bullet won't do sh1t to pen armor. It may hurt more, but unless your going to start giving people .338s your not going through the armor. But there's something called shooting enough times you hit somewhere unprotected
I think it aged like roadkill in Arkansas
@@Nathan-jh1ho one problem with full lv 4 ceramic armor is that it shatters, and while NIJ standards claim that it can stop .308 and 30-06 ap ammo, these claims aren't true 100% of the time. Not to mention that they only stop that shot once in that area.
Lmaoooo milley be like 💅🏿💅🏿💅🏿
If you think an AR-15 is not lethal score yourself a point. I’m no AR-15 fan boy but I am realistic. If you listen to anything this guy says score yourself another point.
.22 LR will kill. The poodle shooter is a failure not because of how it performs inside its envelope but the size of its envelope
@@bernieeod57 Not sure if anyone ever told you this but the overwhelming majority of combat engagements happen within 300 meters. And most of those within 100.
@@ShitboxFlyer Unless you are the Taliban and know this. Then you use a 100 year old Moisin and engage from beyond 300 meters
@@ShitboxFlyer AND...In such up close and personal engagements, what provides cover from your poodle shooter only provides concealment from your opponent's "Real rifle"
@@ShitboxFlyer When we did land warfare training, I would ruin counter ambush drills by ending the engagements beyond 300 yards and not having to close, put out suppressive fire, and flank
Hate to break it to this guy. My unit's lethality rate was overwhelming in Afghanistan. In 100% of engagements, above 75% of all enemy combatants were eliminated. Arghandab RV 09-10 1-17 INF (wife's account). The 5.56 was 100% NEVER used in auto there other than from SAWs. The 5.56 was rediculous lethal and most targets only took 2-3 rounds to take down.
Bro GTFO I was in 5/2 2-1 INF C co OEF 09-10! Hope all is well
Yes I concur with this statement
That's totally why we won that war....
Welcome home, friend. And thank you. I sincerely hope we were worth all the sacrifice you undertook on our behalf.
@@Ozzymandias493 So you are going to blame the rifle for poor policy, horrible leadership, too fast of deployment rotations, no ALL training from unit to unit during hand off as well as a defeated ROE? All that was caused by that little rifle? Huh....weird because those are the reasons we lost that war not the 5.56 monster that won us EVERY engagement my unit entered. What is your military experience son?
Thousands of people with more combat experience, training and actual fire fights under their belt recommend the AR15 (along with other weapons) for civilian use. By all means. Please try and prove Larry Vickers, Pat McNamara and Chris Costa wrong....... I’ll wait.........
Well, that was interesting. There are so many holes in this presentation, but the one you focused on fairly heavily is rather interesting. Plate armor is not as effective as you seem to think. Let Clint Smith educate you about your whole armor argument in less than 20 seconds: th-cam.com/video/8mCAd7giD2o/w-d-xo.html
Dude this video must be getting recommended to everyone now lmao.
Great to see you comment on this. I imagine this must be made by a group of freedom haters, the presentation is to well made to be one FUD all by himself
I keep getting this video recommended to me even though I watched it a few years ago. It was dumb then and it’s dumb now.
He also doesn't seem to know we can buy the same plates. Also seem to think the military used the M4 like they do in movies
@sheparddog117 there's somthing called shoot uncovered areas
He's right, we should all be using fully automatic rifles. And if we're not, we should be using belt fed machine guns and high-caliber hunting rifles. And armored vehicles as well as air support.
In short, we should have what our government has, if not better. That was his message.
That's fine. If you own an ammo factory or are extremely rich. One Javelin missile costs more than my house did. LOL
In principle I agree 100% and you should be able to own whatever you want. But, I think his point is civilians don't have the other resources of a military industrial complex. Which means we can't call for a supply drop of 10,000 rounds if we need it. For me the biggest issue is civilians not having MASH units and hospitals staffed by competent surgeons.
@@Wastelandman7000 This is where community coordination and cooperation come into play. Make friends with like minded neighbors for mutual defense and support. There are a lot of medical people that are 2A supporters and they live in a lot of the same places that we do.
