  • In this video we create a "tattoo removal" painted saw sign using Alphanamel paints and hand painting techniques, including pinstriping and hand lettering. I show how I transfer my sign design to the saw.

    Absolutely superb ,great to watch pure skill, ive got loads of old saws, im going to have a mess about tomorrow, i have no satin clearcoat to put on first but i'll do and extra clean and hopefully it will be ok! Many thanks love your skill! Dick Searle UK

      Thank you very much. If you clean them extra good, things should work pretty well. I like the way the rust looks under satin clear, plus it allows me to mess up and wipe off without staining the surface. Send me a pic of what you do. I would love to see it.

    It's a rather threatening sign, isn't it? "We'll saw your arm off. Tattoo removed!"

      I usually give them a light sanding, then clean with mineral spirits, then lacquer thinner. After that, I will coat with satin clear spray paint.

    Do you have a recommendation for someone (starving artist) on a light budget for paint and brushes. I’d like to start making some signs for the studio. Thank you and just started following. Inspired 😊

    • @JackFlemingArtistry
      @JackFlemingArtistry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My recommendation (specially for a "starving" artist) would be to invest in good quality tools slowly over time. If you are doing lettering start with only one decent lettering quill. Maybe a Mack series 189 or series 169. Sizes 4 or 6 seem to be a good all around brush sizes. No need to get every color of paint either. White or imitation gold letters on a black background can make for some classy signs. I sometimes make nice little wall hangers on scrap wood that I have sanded smooth, primed, and coated with oil based oops paint from the hardware store. A lot can be done with one brush and one or two cans of 1Shot or another quality sign enamel. Cheap brushes and crumby paint lead to a lot of wasted money and frustrating times. Just my opinion.

    Still new to the game so it's all practice, I'll be starting your colour/color theory videos tomorrow. Excited to get going again, it's so easy to get disheartened and frustrated starting out - for me at least - but seeing you're attention to detail and expert skill has really given me a creative boost and something to strive for.

      Wwhwn striping on anything plastic... I would get a clean towel and use cold water. Wipe down the item and let dry. This helps with removal of static and prevents your paint from pulling off brush to your plastic piece.
