This was excellent in showing how this works! Putting the gold in the glue is genius. You did really good for doing your own camera work.I thought you had a cameraman, until you went to adjust the camera. Its the hallmark of an artist, when you cant leave something just ~ plain, even if its not important, just part of who you are. PS, it's a Tongue DEpresser
Watching you work with such precision is fascinating. Your extraordinarily steady hand and ability to create such perfect swirls will - I know - have come from years and years of persistent practice. Thank you for sharing your skills with us.
Hi Spawk , my name is Bisket. Love the video it help me out a lot on my gold leaf. Keep up the great work. I’m from San Antonio as well. Can’t wait to meet you someday.
First time watching. I'm in Mexico doing a candy paint job. Let me know if you're ever down in queretaro. I'm doing a 78 hormiga bagged. Chrome red firetruck. Nite: due to Corona virus I was not able to show it at the 80th anniversary of the VW factory in Puebla. Now we're doing a 69 chassis swap for a 69 Ramirez. Chicken bus. Open invite.
Well done sir. I’ve been watching a lot of different pinstriping and gold leafing videos and you didn’t the best job on explaining how to leaf. Thank you for the lesson. I hope more like and subscribe.
Thank you. Honestly it depends on what you are applying the leaf on to. If its for a car, truck, or something that will be outside in the elements I usually spray it with a urethane clearcoat. if it is for something that will be displayed indoors i like using a high quality resin. But if you are just starting out and want to test out some different applications you can always try Rust-Oleum crystal clear aerosol. Just depends on what you are doing with the art.
@e-brown5274 dependingbon the type of sizing you are using. I just use 1shot reducer. Low temp reducer. It works fine. And if you can airbrush the sizing on you can get a real smooth look
You LUCKY son oF A B....😀 You've got one shot in closable plastic bottles? I've bin searching for them for over a year. I never could find a closable plastic container that the one-shot would not eat up.
It depends on the job but 99% of the time you want to stay only on the Gold and as clean as possible. If it overlaps on to the color it is fine but make sure it is clean.
If I want to add a three or four millimeter stripe of gold leaf to a crash helmet, can I put masking tape over it after it's dried or would I need to clear coat over it first. Alternatively, would it be best to mask up and do the gold leaf last? Thanks for your help - Dale
I've read, that some brands are better than others. I THINK it was on one of Steve Kafkas videos, someone said so in the comments. Or maybe he said so. Something in my mind says, he mentioned his own no. 3 being good at that - but don't trust me - look it up.
Hey man good video but U talked a little to much but U done great don't give up I no these things cost money go wreckers grab some hoods and paint them for ur background and do a video on it
Meant no disrespect... I'm a 75 years old retired American Art teacher living in Australia after 9 years US Army (Vietnam 2/502 Infantry, 101st Airborne) Moved here from Detroit in 79'. I couldn't count how many Gold leaf signs and pinstripe jobs I've done, from boats, motorcycles and trucks. I actually kept a 23 carrot gold leaf pack that the price tag was $6.95 from the 1960's in my box, that I always show my students.... I tried the new Krylon Gold Spray Paint on a chip glass sign...sand blasted the glass, rabbit glue and tried the spray over that part only. ... it was a wedding sign, A-2, 8 mil plate glass. I masked with sand blast mask the information (Names, etc...) out lined and then used real gold leaf, to save money ... first time for the spray. Reversed on chipped glass it looked fine ...I added mirror black (3 coats) over the back for protection. I'm hoping it worked... have you any experience with it? I only mentioned the dutch leaf as I didn't hear you say it, and I found none of my sign class students had any knowledge of it. .... Personally I use dutch leaf only in the multi-colored variegated style leaf... nice job ... be safe.
@airbrushken5339 that's amazing. Yea the real stuff is expensive now so most people don't use it. I try to use it as much as possible if it's in the budget but man I can't afford the stuff.

Thank you so much. And hopefully I remember what it's called on the next video haha.

I love it ❤, what brand is that gold leaf , if I want to use it on the canvas?
That’s awesome man!!! ✌🏻🤘🏾✊🏿
That's awesome!
What kind of top coat do you use to protect everything?
Thank you. Honestly it depends on what you are applying the leaf on to. Do you need to use the reducer 6002 with the sizing glue 4008 or could i just use the sizing glue and do you have a insgram
@e-brown5274 dependingbon the type of sizing you are using. I just use 1shot reducer. Low temp reducer. It works fine. And if you can airbrush the sizing on you can get a real smooth look

Come on down to the webpage and pick some up. Leave a side note that we talked here and I'll throw in some extra goodies. Www.spawk.co
In order to draw such artful lines you need a good Venus position in your horoscope
haha. sounds about right
Does your surface have to be prepped properly to leave
Cool stuff man!!
Thank you man. I enjoy doing it.
Hey, when you add clear, do you go over just the gold in clear or do you add clear on all colors along with the gold?
Thanks for sharing. Great vid.
It depends on the job but 99% of the time you want to stay only on the Gold and as clean as possible. If it overlaps on to the color it is fine but make sure it is clean.
Very nice thanks 🇦🇺
Where did you get 1 shot in those plastic bottles ? I have never seen that before. The cans are a pain. Thank you I subscribed
I bottle it myself. www.spawk.co
Do you ever add a protection clear coat over gold? If so what do you use?
Depends on the job I will use automotive clear or resin
also, does the reduced speed or extend the time before placing the gold on ?
The Size comes in different thicknesses or better yet slow, med, and fast gold size.
Ooo u got that from tropical glitz yesssir
its Freak Flake from www.spawk.co
thanks man ! Hey how long are you waiting ( if at all ) between those colours ?
depends on the temperature and weather if you are outside. im usually good after about 15 mins under controlled temp.
Great tutorial. FYI: I think you meant to say, "tongue 'Depressor." not "suppressor." ;)
haha. maybe I did.

You definitely do not want to put tape directly over exposed leaf.
thanks
No clear coated needed after?
Yes. Never leave leaf exposed. You can brush it on or spray depending on the prepwork.
@@spawkandco.How long before applying a clear coat to on the leaf?
I tried one but it turned the leaf black.
Is it high or low temp reducer?
Depends on the weather. I am in Arizona I always use High temp reducer
I can never get my scroll brush to behave like that without twisting it. When I twirl tight the hairs want to fling and make rough edges. Any ideas?
try reducing the speed when in tight turns. also, thinning your paint just a bit more helps with the flair out

You make it look too eazy! 👌🏽
Thank you. 🤙🤙
Yo what kind of brush were you using for the pinstripes?
I use a wizard vortex
@SPAWK AND CO. What size brush did you use for the striping (orage & white). Thanx for the video 👌🏽
Hey man good video but U talked a little to much but U done great don't give up I no these things cost money go wreckers grab some hoods and paint them for ur background and do a video on it
Nice
Where can I get That Transfer gold?
if you are using it on cars I would get it from chicagoldsigns.com/
Sweet as.....😎
fancy
I think you just earned yourself a commission.
I'm guessing you are using "Ditch Leaf" not real gold.
I only use real Gold if I'm water gilding on glass or if the budget allows for real gold. Most people can't afford the price tag for real gold.
