    Today, I make a video I never thought I'd make. I'm cancelling my custom long-tail, Ferrari-powered, Countach-esque, supercar build, for a few good reasons. I'm sorry, and I promise I will make it up to you all.

Whatever time and budget you allocate for a given project, you basically need to triple it, because there is always going to be broken shit once you tear it all apart. Modern cars are insanely complicated, they're very likely the single most complicated object you will ever own, in terms of shit you can actually rebuild yourself. It's understandable that when you have 50 different projects, you're going to be bouncing around a fair bit and maybe not get them done.

    • @mrsquanch2211
      @mrsquanch2211 4 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Chris Armstrong what he means by 110 machine is that, most small welders that are sold in like Home Depot or any other store like that, that are meant for small home projects are powered by your normal 110v outlets. But these welders are meant for thin material like sheet metal, or any other thin metal. When it comes to welding thicker material metal, it requires more heat, more energy to be able to penetrate and fuse metal. That’s where 220v machines come in. These welding machines require 220v compared to 110v. Who ever welded that kit car frame was probably using a aluminum spool gun on a 110v welder to able to weld that, and as you can see, the ‘wire’ didn’t fuse into the square tubing and only created puddle on top of the tubing. That or who ever welded that is just 💩💩💩 welder lol.

      No shit. How many years ago were we promised that 6 speed manual swap? Of course, i get it. It's not a Twin turbo Gallardo that's been thru the wringer. The Merc just isn't exotic enough. Didn't cost the better part of $100,000 to buy damaged. When done the Merc would be a really cool car with a 6 speed but in the end if someone didn't know they never built any manual equipped one's it would just look like a stocker. I'm not sure buying an Aston Martin and road tripping with two dudes in bona fide exotics has really helped the original spirit of your channel. It's morphed into all exotics all the time which apparently you cannot really afford unless buying them wrecked and yeah, rebuilding them would be good content but promises after biting off more than you can chew, once again? Not so much.

      @ChaosZero. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      It's not that he doesn't want to. Is that he can't learn how to do it and actually do it in time for SEMA.
      Which would be a fair argument if it wasn't for the fact that all he cares about is to get clicks on TH-cam (with clickbait titles and thumbnails), sponsorships and free exposure from bringing cars to events such as SEMA.
      The issue seems to be that he thinks that in order to counter the lower attention span the average viewer has nowadays (which is below the 20 minutes mark), he needs to spam videos about any random car he has in his workshop, without any work actually being done and just hopping from a flashy car to another as soon as a flashier one becomes available.
      One of his arguments against sticking to this project in particular is also the fact that he thinks that people are not interested in following him working on a single project for months and that's just not true. There are plenty of other channels that do exactly that and some, without the slightest bit of clickbait nonsense (or any sponsorship) are so successful they get half a million viewes per video.
      Instead, it looks like he's just chasing the quick buck and the 15 minutes of fame instead of actually doing what he advertises in his own motto, "wrench every day".

      Comment does not make sense comes off as just looking to find a fault. He clearly explains exactly the statement you take out of context. There would have been fabrication though it was with the support of the company. He now has no access to parts and specifications originally that were said to be granted. For this type of vehicle it would be exceedingly expensive to be drive-able none the less safe in competition use. There would be reverse engineering in addition to fabrication that virtually always is needed on a custom vehicle.

    So I'm gonna share my unsolicited 2 cents in here among all of you guys and I'm a woman. I'm no engineer but I understand that you need the correctly engineered parts, meaning that it has specific engineering specifications that have to be correct in order for the car to run well and safely. He contacted the manufacturer of said part and they chose not to support him for whatever reason. Regardless of whether he was willing to pay whatever he needed to, to get the project done. Plus, he mentioned in the comments that he has applied $18,000 dollars of his own money to this build. So he is not solely relying on the manufacturers of this vehicle for handouts. Even if he were, you guys should educate yourselves to see how much advertising truly costs and realize that it isn't cheap to advertise and if the TH-camr has a huge following. Then that's a great opportunity for alot (not all companies choose to do this) companies to sponsor one person a certain product or fee to provide an equally mutually beneficial collaboration to each party. Because thousands of companies sponsor TH-camrs all the time and end up allowing the companies to make millions.

    Freddie, let’s fit this amazing sound system before she goes!

    Sorry about that that the aluminium should have been prepped ,and pre heated before welding the amount of penetration looking at that, was not great as,you said the welds should not fail!

    Not a surprise, you have often made "project goalz" videos for the views and clickbait, then kill the project not long after... Hmmmm🤔

    It would be interesting to get a Certified Weld Inspector to check these out on an Xray and see how all the welds look.

    A good weld will have the surrounding metal break before the weld ever breaks, yes. Often times welds are stronger than the surrounding metal if done correctly

    I admire your wisdom my friend... I've been looking at SLC for a minute... They say a picture is worth a thousand words. The shot of that weld was all I needed to know. That and the companies unwillingness to "support" you with even the specs. P.S. I see no reason for you to apologize... Peace!!!

    You are really lacking some focus at the moment Tavarish. You need to finish your projects man, before you get into more stuff. You're so incoherent at the moment.

    Some kit car companies are like that, they just want to sell the kits but no support to the customer. Fly by night companies, no good. 👎👎👎👎

    kind of sad to see where this channel has come. a man buying a bunch of broken cars, letting some others work on the cars and forget about them 3 weeks later.

    One project at a time, start to finish. You used to be a good TH-camr, now it just seems you buy broken things and keep them in your garage. Unsubscribed.

    Aluminum welding is easy tho you could hire a guy to weld and fix all that stuff in like a week. And it's not like tavarish is hurting for money

    The weld is not suppose to break, the frame is suppose to absorb the crash and bend at certain points in order for the driver to survive the impact. 😁
