Gabriel McMahon I think the recession is what did them in back in 2009. All of California was heavily hit. Ethan from H3H3 Productions has a vidéo about a time where he turned in an application to a job waiting tables and the stack of applications was huge.
Its actually pretty nuts how quickly an absolute juggernaut in the drum industry completely imploded into dust. OCDP had an insane drum artist roster and was pretty much thee custom drum company during the early 2000's. Wtf happened to them?
@@bbeau2023 OCPD didn’t get acquired by GC. It was more like a bail out. Then the owner pimped out the name to GC for the rights to make a line of a Chinese drums with the OCPD name in them. Check this out. th-cam.com/video/7_SfmCvbUi0/w-d-xo.html
OCDP drums are good but what most don't realize is that their artists have million dollar recordings. That's why they sound good. You want a kit that sounds like a million dollars live an and in person, play any Yamaha Recording Custom.
I love the sound of OCDP! Teir snares are awesome but there shells sound awesome 2. I just bought my new OCDP about a month ago. Its finish is a blood red crushed glass finnish with 4 toms. And thats why i love OCDP
Guy ive been doing session work with plays these. They are great sounding drums. Got his own rally stripe finish with leopard spots . Worth every penny
Don't doubt it. There are many more companies that do the exact same thing as OCDP, but better and charge less. Epiarch, SJC, Highwood, Cresendo, C&C, Raven Customs, not to mention all the stave and segmented shell builders that don't just decorate keller shells.
What would make OCDP stand out today? There are 100’s of custom drum companies that make their own shells. We aren’t in the age of using Keller shells and slapping some Drum Factory Direct hardware on with a custom paint job and calling that a drum company. Keller makes great shells but this business model has been beaten into the ground, dug up, put in a blender and used as paint.
I swore by OCDP for years.... until I finally got enough money to order a custom kit which they took 30 weeks on, treated me like crap, and never finished. They only respect their endorsed drummers. And that amount of time was no exaggeration. Thirty (30) weeks to the day is when I finally cancelled the order on them.
He did, as did Steve from Sum 41. They have since moved on once they realized how awful of a company OCDP is. You can get drums made with the same keller shells with better finish and the same options for half the cost.
O.C.D.P. are actually made in Taiwan, which is not actually China mainland! They are nice drums, for the price.I like the looks' of them and you can control sound with proper heads',tuning and damping. That goes' for all drums'.Been playing for 40+ years',so tell me how it is! ; )
+OuttaThisWorld I never said the originals' "Were Not"made in the U.S.A.!I was saying that the "G.C, ones'"are made in "Taiwan".Read what I said,again. : )
@ToAsTmAn119911 well mine came with bad bearing edges which sucks for tuning but it still sounds amazing, however i feel like it's been built like crap just cause of that
Wrong. I can afford them, also Steve DID play OCDP at one time early on in their career. It was a blue kit with red hardware, I can't quite remember the video but it's there, clear as day. I wish I was as cool as you, so I could rock out on some overpriced poorly assembled keller shelled drums.
Yeah but their V-Mounts are made horribly. They start bending toward the toms within a couple of months of heavy hitting. The Avalon Suspension system is much better and you get 2 floor toms with it for a much cheaper price than the Newports.
really then howcome your'e coment sounds like you cant afford them, ocdp's are not just about finishes but the sound that those drums can make I doubt that company's that charge less can produce shells that sound and look amazing.
i agree with "spongedar1" besides... OCDP and DW are diferent types of drum manufaturers DW does have some hi end shit let me tell ya and OCDP probably should think to maybe drop the prices just a lil bit ....but OCDP is more of a "custom" type drum manufacturer as DW has like different models to choose from and different fineshes(that are very limited campared 2 OCDP's) as far as the argument on snare vents WHO GIVES A FUCKING SHIT!!!!!! that is all.
OMG! i am looking to C&C artists and i just know the drummer from My chemmical romance!! COmparong with ocdp that have Travis Barker, John otto, Adrian Young, etc... C&C is a shit!!
I'd love to see a former OCDP artist or employee talking about what happened to this awesome company. It's such a shame!
Gabriel McMahon I think the recession is what did them in back in 2009. All of California was heavily hit. Ethan from H3H3 Productions has a vidéo about a time where he turned in an application to a job waiting tables and the stack of applications was huge.
th-cam.com/video/7_SfmCvbUi0/w-d-xo.html Right here.
1:17 "You won't get mass-produced clone drums here!"
and then years later.... oh the irony.
i long for the days when they were purely custom built. i remember how bad i wanted a kit back in the late 90s... now guitar center has raped them.
Drummers who understand head selection and tuning can make the cheapest made snare drum sound great!
I have an OCDP custom snare and now it’s actually valuable! Yes!
Its actually pretty nuts how quickly an absolute juggernaut in the drum industry completely imploded into dust. OCDP had an insane drum artist roster and was pretty much thee custom drum company during the early 2000's. Wtf happened to them?

th-cam.com/video/7_SfmCvbUi0/w-d-xo.html It’s all right here.
OCDP drums are good but what most don't realize is that their artists have million dollar recordings. That's why they sound good. You want a kit that sounds like a million dollars live an and in person, play any Yamaha Recording Custom.

i just baught one of their snares i cant wait for it to get here!!
But, they do not manufacture the shells .They purchase them from Keller. Real drum companies start from scratch.
I want to visit the factory
i like ocdp to because of theses drummers and adrian young from no doubt to but isn't just this.
OCDP is fucking awesome
Don't doubt it.
There are many more companies that do the exact same thing as OCDP, but better and charge less. Epiarch, SJC, Highwood, Cresendo, C&C, Raven Customs, not to mention all the stave and segmented shell builders that don't just decorate keller shells.
OCDP would be a great company today.
SUPA_HOT_ICE it’s a shame what happened

not true, ive tried an ocdp snare, sounded amazing.
joey used a ocdp set in the uk or something like that i believe... watch the disaster peices video
Come back guys!
does C&C have a site or a dealer somewhere in or around connecticut?......iv never heard of em and want to check em out
hell .. i adoreeee the styles they are makin' !!!
I swore by OCDP for years.... until I finally got enough money to order a custom kit which they took 30 weeks on, treated me like crap, and never finished. They only respect their endorsed drummers.

Did OCDP issue a full refund?
He did, as did Steve from Sum 41. They have since moved on once they realized how awful of a company OCDP is.
You can get drums made with the same keller shells with better finish and the same options for half the cost.
Came here bcauz joey jordison
I've seen his video, (Andy deVille - Algo Movie), its really good :) drums sound great too
but do they have a website?? and wat is it????????
also there custom drums can go from acrilyc to fur and they still sound awesome! I am looking forward to buying another in the future.
O.C.D.P. are actually made in Taiwan, which is not actually China mainland! They are nice drums, for the price.I like the looks' of them and you can control sound with proper heads',tuning and damping. That goes' for all drums'.Been playing for 40+ years',so tell me how it is! ; )

are ocdp drums any good for heavy metal/hardcore?
Ocdp was good back when they were independent. Then Guitar Center fucked them over and cared more about retailing than quality
well, it is true that ocdp's drums are overpriced, but they are amazing and have the coolest lugs ever
@ToAsTmAn119911 well mine came with bad bearing edges which sucks for tuning but it still sounds amazing, however i feel like it's been built like crap just cause of that
haha she says you wont get mass produced drums there but ocdp just started to make production drums
you should hear adrian young's drums they sound amazing, plus you cant compare c&c to ocdp especialy if you havent played ocdp
john and Steve are good people!
but joey jordison have used OCDP before Pearl
hw uses pearl lately. look at disasterpieces and his most famous solo. he uses OCDP there.
he used to use ocdp back in the days
@mythkid1208 I know,But Iowa sounded amazing with ocdp,Theyre so good,Joey switched to pearl XD
Wrong. I can afford them, also Steve DID play OCDP at one time early on in their career. It was a blue kit with red hardware, I can't quite remember the video but it's there, clear as day.
I wish I was as cool as you, so I could rock out on some overpriced poorly assembled keller shelled drums.
@MultiDJpatrick This video is like 10 years old
Cool ! Glad OCDP is doing so well, had them do a rewrap on a set years ago, it turned out awful !
Poor Ocdp.. Guitar center murdered you.. ):
PEARL SUCKS BTW CHAD COME BACK
YES
Do a lot of people hate pearl, I mean, I’m not a fan of it or anything it’s just, I haven’t heard many opinions on pearl
I thought that Joey Jordison is endorsed by Pearl Drum Company.
hes with pearl now back in the slipknot iowa days he was with these guys he switched to pearl in 2004
the fucken best drums companie on the world!! eheh
midtown broke up like two years before this video...
he used to be with ocdp
steve from sum 41 has always played dw,and drumzac hates ocdp's because he can't afford them.
@Abe thedrumguy Do what I'm doing man.. I'm just going to build the kit I want. All custom drum companies charge wayyyyy too much.
CUSTOM! Of course its worth it.
he is with pearl
personal choice
Yeah but their V-Mounts are made horribly. They start bending toward the toms within a couple of months of heavy hitting. The Avalon Suspension system is much better and you get 2 floor toms with it for a much cheaper price than the Newports.
really then howcome your'e coment sounds like you cant afford them, ocdp's are not just about finishes but the sound that those drums can make I doubt that company's that charge less can produce shells that sound and look amazing.
