Poor Eclipsa, so misunderstood. She's definitely not evil. She gave a warning to the future queens that wanted to read her chapter and created her spells with good intentions in mind.
Eclipsa always seemed good to me. Just because she has dark spells, doesn't mean she's evil. Those spells should be used carefully. And she was right deciding who to love (I mean, everyone is better than Shastacan) and the MHC did so many wrong things.
you also need to remember that no spell is dark, light, good or evil magic and spells are netural the caster is the one who chooses to use it for good or for evil

I should note, that even the most harmless form of lovemagic falls into that category, or any truthmagic (since it takes away consent). However this is only due the effects of said spells, not as good/ evil.
I definitely got a good understanding about Eclipsa. Her mom was not being fair deciding her life for her. Shastacan obviously lied when he said he loved her. From what I read, he married her for one reason: to be king of Mewni since he can't take the throne from his brother. And he used Festivia to cement his kingship

When Eclipsa wrote about her mother's death she used "Mother" when talking about Solaria, but in the Season 4 episode when Eclipsa talked to Janna about her mother she just called her "Solaria" Idk but I'm kinda sad because seeing the drawings and sketches I can say that Eclipsa was really close to her mother until the eloping happened-or some other reason (correct me if I'm wrong I haven't finished watching the video yet hehe)

The problem here is that Globgor is a "prince of monsters". The text is not clear about Globgor is with the lizards or not. Only that Globgor talk about that to Eclipsa. May be the attraction and "love" between Eclipsa and Globgor is a magic thing, not a real one.
Coming back to this video after the show ended, I’m surprised but also not too much that Eclipsa never wrote down the final Total Annihilation spell. While it was one of Solaria’s spell ideas and she started developing it, Eclipsa is the one who finished it and managed to make it work. She does say during her trial that a lot of spells she created never made it into the final draft, but I do believe that she never wrote down the total annihilation spell simply out of fear of it being used. She wrote down the one who can destroy something immortal because she knew it would be of use to the next Queen during the war, but the Total Annihilation spell was just too dangerous
Is there anymore of Toffee's kind? There must be a reason why Eclipsa's arms are so badly corrupted. Maybe she used it in defend of her own country? I mean Star uses the All Seeing Eye spell but it does not corrupt her hand. I think the spell used on Toffee is the darkest spell created and since not only does Eclipsa make such a powerful spell that destroy immortal species but she is also a true Monster Lover, this scares the HMC so much they just want her gone in case she turn that power against them. Also Toffee may be a descendant of the kin she dated since he doesn't seem to recognise the spell, so the possibility of her dating him is impossible.
That spell in particular is highly corruptive, which may be the only spell that does so, since the spell is fueled by the user's negative emotions, which I believe is something much worse than all of the other spells.

Not good only for humans cause if humans wrong that’s not an excuse for us to proudly that we better than a monster - everything have a right to live and love and as far as i know that Eclipsa and Star Butterfly have a 1 thing common is that they try to put an end the war and misunderstanding between people and monsters rather accepting as they are and created ally to fight bad people and evil monsters- that’s what i think
In my opinion about eclipsa I never honestly thought of her as a bad person just more of a do things at her own pace. Although I can understand how some people can interpret that as being evil or just uncaring. But after watching the episodes with her in them I just can't see her as being very evil, aloof would be a better word to describe her. And perhaps unconventional.

Here is a theory I thought of after watching these theory videos...On the trading cards of the Queens of Mewni, there was a sister Queens candidates that had to switch because the first candidate is not capable as queen so her sister is chosen instead. What happened to failed queen? Was she exiled and stripped of her aristocracy? Is there a chapter for her in the Book of Spells? Maybe Festivia the Fun is a descendant of hers which is why she was chosen. I am pretty sure not just any Mewni can become the possessor of the wand without being corrupted. Perhaps there need a connection with the original line of the wand owners to be able to properly use the wand?
Makuro Shinya Her chapter is in the book. Her name is Dirhhennia. Festivia was her mother. Dirhhennia neglected her duties some much Festivia gave the throne to her other daughter Crescenta.
That is possible, but we have also seen Marco being able to use the wand and get cheek marks from it. So either any person can grab it and handle it, as long there is no dark spell to be used, or Marco is also related to Star.
but heres the thing Skywynne had two kids jushtin and solaria before skywynne no other queen is mention besides lyric but the book starts with her and although solaria inherited the crown her brother jushtin married the duchess recluza of the spider bites in hopes of gaining something from it (he didnt) and Festivia clearly isnt from the spider bite kingdom i persoally believe festivia was chosen as someone who the locals wouldnt recall as one of them as to not gain suspicion and in cresenta chapter (festivias daughter) she turns her older sister (dirhhennia) into a wolf so she and her husband can live out the rest of there days as lone wolves in the forest of certain death so i believe that those who dont inherit the crow either marry into other families in hopes of gaining something or just live out there days with someone they love
5:09 Eclipsa states she's used this spell to test its effectiveness and was successful, we can tell from how dark the magic on her hands that this is true. However...We learn that after Moon shot Toffee's finger off it did not cease to be but was moved into the wand. So where/what happened to the Septarian that Eclipsa shot? And could that very Septarian have been Seth?
jf k I agree that it is interesting and nice that the show does no follow the cliche gimmick of “a princess must marry a prince” and I’m intrigued as to where it will lead. As for my favorite queens, as said, my favorite is Skywynne because I enjoy her character and she is definitely one of the most influential queens. I also enjoy most of the later queens, from about Celena on. Overall though, I like most of the queens in some way. What do you think of the other queens?
jf k As for the other queens, my favorites other than Skywynne are Eclipsa, Moon, and Comet. Just to go more in depth, I like Skywynne because she knows that she has flaws, and issues, but also has strengths, and she works hard, and helps to start the modern Mewni, with the castle, the book of spells, the large amount of corn. Plus, she is shown to be a very magically skilled queen as well, destroying an entire dimension, and lassoing the planet. As for Eclipsa, I like her because while she does care for her mother, it is shown that she has her own personality, and that she is very powerful. Throughout the show, Eclipsa often shows that she deeply cares about her loved ones, and this book shows that she still tries to do the best for Mewni. I like the arc that Moon takes throughout the story and book, and how it is shown that while she can be strict, she truly loves her family, and is obviously stricken by Comet’s death, but she still manages to save the kingdom. Comet is just an overall nice queen, and I like her unique personality and skill. Also, for a lot of the queens that I like, I really enjoy the introduction picture and poem for them. As for the other queens, I like Star throughout the show, but within the book, her chapter wasn’t the most interesting. Crescenta comes off as a bit arrogant and full of herself to me, but I guess that is sort of the point to her character. Rhina’s chapter, is interesting, and I’m sure that later I’ll go back through it and figure out all the riddles by myself and interpret her texts, but for now, her chapter’s a bit confusing.
When it comes to understanding Low Mewnian, you only need to see Rhina's chapter, as she transcribes a few words. You can get 23 out of the 26 letters from her chapter, and pick up the last three as you transcribe other messages. Did anyone else figure this out when they first read the book?

Past queen didn't threaten the Realm of Magic though. Eclipsa's use of evil magic was leading to the corruption of the wellspring of all magic, which is the lifeblood of the gods themselves. The High Commissioners were fighting an existential threat to themselves.
What I get From the darkest spell poem. It isn't a spell that kills, but consumes. It absorbs. It needed to be aimed at a lethal part like the heart to make its effects work. This is where moon fked up. She absorbs toffee's finger. This essentially splits toffees body. Like cell (DBZ) only one body can exist. But they can regenerate from any cell. So when the main body was vaporized, his finger was still fine and regenerated from that point in the source of magic.
In Eclipsa’s chapter, she says that she is gonna run away with Globgor and in one of her final entries she says something about “To Future Queens” when she didn’t have have nor want have children or atleast one child with Shastcan b/c she was disgusted by him although he wanted her to bear his children. She knew that she had to continue the line but she didnt want to have kids with him, then she ran off with Globgor, had Meteroa, and was crystallized. My question is, what did she think was gonna happen with the Butterfly Family, did she think that they were gonna get someone else to become the new queen, did she plan on returning to Mewni with Meteroa when she was old enough so she would become queen, like what did she think was gonna happen. Then when she meet Moon she said “So, your the new queen” who did she thought replaced her. But I think that after she was crystallized she thought they got Meteroa and she became queen b/c in Butterfly Trap she looked surprised when she figured out they got rid of her daughter and replaced her
I feel like there is more history to this. Also, I feel like that the story is going no where if Eclipsa is innocent. I feel like it would be more interesting if Star vs. Forces of Evil is playing with our sensibility by using our disdain of prejudice and belief in following our hearts and thus make us favor the bad guys only to be proven wrong and show our own prejudice toward Mewmans because of their prejudice toward monsters, and the point is that prejudice is wrong no matter who or what is receiving it... AND, despite all of the wrongs done to Eclipsa and the Monsters (such as Ludo, Toffy, and Globcor), they are still responsible for their actions. We already been proven this by characters who have not done much wrong despite their backgrounds. For example, Frogman and Star both would have went down the same way if their backgrounds was the sole reason for their decisions. However, I am skeptical that Disney would go down that level of story telling for a kid show.
It could have been a precaution to stop anyone outside of the Butterfly family from using these spells or anyone holding the wand, since Eclipsa seems to be the type to set up precautions.
Honestly to me it would’ve made sense if it turned out jushtin were her father instead of Solaria being her mother. Seeing how she was constantly fighting monsters and fueling her hatred, it would’ve made sense if she just didn’t have children at all, leaving eclipsa to be the daughter of jushtin and inherit the throne due to this. (I know this didn’t turn out to be the case, but seeing how solaria acted, eclipsa definitely had to take 99% after her father) it’s sad that we never really get to see the relationship between eclipsa and jushtin, with him being her uncle at the time of solarias hate filled reign.

I got the book from Christmas and right after I have finished reading it, I started decoding every lowmewman text I could find. I just finished decoding Esqlisa's. I feel proud, for some reason.
I liked her when I first heard her talk! Then as she kept the spot light for a bit I loved her energy. This right here just makes me really her more, and i want her happiness because no one should be unhappy even if you are royal.
The spell against toffee is slightly different from the original one that eclipsa came up with Eclipsa said wind and sea (4:54) but moon said earth and sea
I think Eclipsa 's spells sound like Lina Inverse's spells. The one used to kill Toffee sounds like a combination between Dragon slave and Ragna Blade.
When someone like our dear queen eclipsa uses magic and can be seen as dark are usually labeled as evil. The high council. Or the royal jerks, use this to cover up anything they do. When beings are forced to cross the line to save their people and use things that can easily be classified as evil they are usually they are the best people. Eclipsa is my favorite over all, she is strong, smart and are willing to do what most are not. Thinking she killed her daughter is the hardest thing, moon couldn't even really bring herself to really punish star, Eclipsa wanted nothing but love and a family no matter what. She is the good person in this, regardless of what anyone says. I respect her and am on team Eclipsa.
Idk if it's just me but I feel subtle messages about how large religions like Christianity paint anything that doesn't fit their mold as "dark or evil" I think Eclipsa could embody that completely. She didn't fall in line and had her own way, therefore was seen as "dark" and then was ostracized. She didn't fall into the hive mentality of her people, nor was she willing to harm the monsters just to support a broken idea. She's self serving but not selfish, she does as she sees as just without being manipulated by others. It's like when groups would rebel against the Catholic churches and where oppressed by it. Because the stepped out of line they where called "witches" and the monsters could represent other, more peaceful groups that got run out and where often killed by the Christian's.

Do the ends always justify the means? Deciding whether Eclipsa is good or bad depends on the way you think about that question imo. She always had good intentions, but the "dark" spells she writes and uses are what make her ethically questionable.
True but all the same the MHC and others didn't help either. She's like that because the people in her life never gave her a reason to listen to them because of how much they're such controlling despots. So it was no wonder that she decided to go rouge because she was getting tired of it. It may not be right in the end but still I see why she does it.
This is why i never saw eclipsa as evil. Maybe selfish and impulsive at times, but not evil. She was a women who chose with her heart, she was treated like a monster because she fell for a monster. I think that Eclipsa was part of the good guys, because she only wanted freedom for her and Globgor to be together, and achieved this by leaving the Kingdom and Mewni behind, and her daughter Meteora and ex-husband "king" shastacan. Then that king(and the High Commition) didnt want Meteora to rule the kingdom just because she was a monster, being "hideous or heinous". Which Shastacan/they exchanged her with a normal Mewman, Festivia, ruining the Butterfly family bloodline.😐 i dont think it was Eclipsa's fault that the bloodline isnt straight.. I think its the General High Commition's and Shastacan's faults because they exchanged Meteora with Festivia and yeah... its pretty messed up
Eclipsa is awesome. She is unique and different. :). I admire people who do not follow into their society's "beliefs" and instead attempt to stand out and have a mind of their own. :). The same can be said for Star. 😁😁😁

Here is a theory I thought of after watching these theory videos...On the trading cards of the Queens of Mewni, there was a sister Queens candidates that had to switch because the first candidate is not capable as queen so her sister is chosen instead. What happened to failed queen? Was she exiled and stripped of her aristocracy? Is there a chapter for her in the Book of Spells? Maybe Festivia the Fun is a descendant of hers which is why she was chosen. I am pretty sure not just any Mewni can become the possessor of the wand without being corrupted. Perhaps there need a connection with the original line of the wand owners to be able to properly use the wand?

Her name is Dirhhennia. Festivia was her mother. Dirhhennia neglected her duties some much Festivia gave the throne to her other daughter Crescenta.
That is possible, but we have also seen Marco being able to use the wand and get cheek marks from it. So either any person can grab it and handle it, as long there is no dark spell to be used, or Marco is also related to Star.
but heres the thing Skywynne had two kids jushtin and solaria before skywynne no other queen is mention besides lyric but the book starts with her and although solaria inherited the crown her brother jushtin married the duchess recluza of the spider bites in hopes of gaining something from it (he didnt) and Festivia clearly isnt from the spider bite kingdom i persoally believe festivia was chosen as someone who the locals wouldnt recall as one of them as to not gain suspicion and in cresenta chapter (festivias daughter) she turns her older sister (dirhhennia) into a wolf so she and her husband can live out the rest of there days as lone wolves in the forest of certain death so i believe that those who dont inherit the crow either marry into other families in hopes of gaining something or just live out there days with someone they love

However...We learn that after Moon shot Toffee's finger off it did not cease to be but was moved into the wand. So where/what happened to the Septarian that Eclipsa shot? jf k I agree that it is interesting and nice that the show does no follow the cliche gimmick of “a princess must marry a prince” and I’m intrigued as to where it will lead.
As for my favorite queens, as said, my favorite is Skywynne because I enjoy her character and she is definitely one of the most influential queens.
I also enjoy most of the later queens, from about Celena on. Overall though, I like most of the queens in some way.

I like all the queens. They all have interesting stories but my most favorites are Celena and Moon.
jf k As for the other queens, my favorites other than Skywynne are Eclipsa, Moon, and Comet.
Just to go more in depth, I like Skywynne because she knows that she has flaws, and issues, but also has strengths, and she works hard, and helps to start the modern Mewni, with the castle, the book of spells, the large amount of corn. Plus, she is shown to be a very magically skilled queen as well, destroying an entire dimension, and lassoing the planet. As for Eclipsa, I like her because while she does care for her mother, it is shown that she has her own personality, and that she is very powerful. Throughout the show, Eclipsa often shows that she deeply cares about her loved ones, and this book shows that she still tries to do the best for Mewni.
I like the arc that Moon takes throughout the story and book, and how it is shown that while she can be strict, she truly loves her family, and is obviously stricken by Comet’s death, but she still manages to save the kingdom.
Comet is just an overall nice queen, and I like her unique personality and skill. Also, for a lot of the queens that I like, I really enjoy the introduction picture and poem for them.
As for the other queens, I like Star throughout the show, but within the book, her chapter wasn’t the most interesting. Crescenta comes off as a bit arrogant and full of herself to me, but I guess that is sort of the point to her character. Rhina’s chapter, is interesting, and I’m sure that later I’ll go back through it and figure out all the riddles by myself and interpret her texts, but for now, her chapter’s a bit confusing.
Estrella, Celena, and Moon
When it comes to understanding Low Mewnian, you only need to see Rhina's chapter, as she transcribes a few words. You can get 23 out of the 26 letters from her chapter, and pick up the last three as you transcribe other messages. Did anyone else figure this out when they first read the book?

Past queen didn't threaten the Realm of Magic though. Eclipsa's use of evil magic was leading to the corruption of the wellspring of all magic, which is the lifeblood of the gods themselves. The High Commissioners were fighting an existential threat to themselves.

What I get From the darkest spell poem.
It isn't a spell that kills, but consumes. It absorbs.
It needed to be aimed at a lethal part like the heart to make its effects work.
This is where moon fked up. She absorbs toffee's finger.
This essentially splits toffees body.
Like cell (DBZ) only one body can exist. But they can regenerate from any cell.
So when the main body was vaporized, his finger was still fine and regenerated from that point in the source of magic.
In Eclipsa’s chapter, she says that she is gonna run away with Globgor and in one of her final entries she says something about “To Future Queens” when she didn’t have have nor want have children or atleast one child with Shastcan b/c she was disgusted by him although he wanted her to bear his children. She knew that she had to continue the line but she didnt want to have kids with him, then she ran off with Globgor, had Meteroa, and was crystallized. My question is, what did she think was gonna happen with the Butterfly Family, did she think that they were gonna get someone else to become the new queen, did she plan on returning to Mewni with Meteroa when she was old enough so she would become queen, like what did she think was gonna happen. Then when she meet Moon she said “So, your the new queen” who did she thought replaced her. But I think that after she was crystallized she thought they got Meteroa and she became queen b/c in Butterfly Trap she looked surprised when she figured out they got rid of her daughter and replaced her
I feel like there is more history to this. Also, I feel like that the story is going no where if Eclipsa is innocent. I feel like it would be more interesting if Star vs. Forces of Evil is playing with our sensibility by using our disdain of prejudice and belief in following our hearts and thus make us favor the bad guys only to be proven wrong and show our own prejudice toward Mewmans because of their prejudice toward monsters, and the point is that prejudice is wrong no matter who or what is receiving it... AND, despite all of the wrongs done to Eclipsa and the Monsters (such as Ludo, Toffy, and Globcor), they are still responsible for their actions. We already been proven this by characters who have not done much wrong despite their backgrounds. For example, Frogman and Star both would have went down the same way if their backgrounds was the sole reason for their decisions. However, I am skeptical that Disney would go down that level of story telling for a kid show.

It could have been a precaution to stop anyone outside of the Butterfly family from using these spells or anyone holding the wand, since Eclipsa seems to be the type to set up precautions.

Honestly to me it would’ve made sense if it turned out jushtin were her father instead of Solaria being her mother. Seeing how she was constantly fighting monsters and fueling her hatred, it would’ve made sense if she just didn’t have children at all, leaving eclipsa to be the daughter of jushtin and inherit the throne due to this. (I know this didn’t turn out to be the case, but seeing how solaria acted, eclipsa definitely had to take 99% after her father) it’s sad that we never really get to see the relationship between eclipsa and jushtin, with him being her uncle at the time of solarias hate filled reign.

When someone like our dear queen eclipsa uses magic and can be seen as dark are usually labeled as evil. The high council. Or the royal jerks, use this to cover up anything they do. When beings are forced to cross the line to save their people and use things that can easily be classified as evil they are usually they are the best people. Eclipsa is my favorite over all, she is strong, smart and are willing to do what most are not. Thinking she killed her daughter is the hardest thing, moon couldn't even really bring herself to really punish star, Eclipsa wanted nothing but love and a family no matter what. She is the good person in this, regardless of what anyone says. I respect her and am on team Eclipsa.

Idk if it's just me but I feel subtle messages about how large religions like Christianity paint anything that doesn't fit their mold as "dark or evil" I think Eclipsa could embody that completely. She didn't fall in line and had her own way, therefore was seen as "dark" and then was ostracized. She didn't fall into the hive mentality of her people, nor was she willing to harm the monsters just to support a broken idea. She's self serving but not selfish, she does as she sees as just without being manipulated by others. It's like when groups would rebel against the Catholic churches and where oppressed by it. Because the stepped out of line they where called "witches" and the monsters could represent other, more peaceful groups that got run out and where often killed by the Christian's.
TNBT! In the decoding of 320 or 330 (Which ever page Eclipsa's spell is in that kills the monster in the heart) it says "I call the darkness onto me, From deepest depths of WIND and sea." I think i remember when Moon said it she said "From deepest depths of earth and sea"

Do the ends always justify the means? Deciding whether Eclipsa is good or bad depends on the way you think about that question imo. She always had good intentions, but the "dark" spells she writes and uses are what make her ethically questionable.
True but all the same the MHC and others didn't help either. She's like that because the people in her life never gave her a reason to listen to them because of how much they're such controlling despots. So it was no wonder that she decided to go rouge because she was getting tired of it. It may not be right in the end but still I see why she does it.

This is why i never saw eclipsa as evil. Maybe selfish and impulsive at times, but not evil. She was a women who chose with her heart, she was treated like a monster because she fell for a monster. She was kind hearted, and wanted to bring the monsters and mewinis together. Instead her kingdom and her life was taken away.

I actualy I just goted to Eclipsa's Chapter in my Book of Spells actually
I think that Eclipsa was part of the good guys, because she only wanted freedom for her and Globgor to be together, and achieved this by leaving the Kingdom and Mewni behind, and her daughter Meteora and ex-husband "king" shastacan. Then that king(and the High Commition) didnt want Meteora to rule the kingdom just because she was a monster, being "hideous or heinous". Which Shastacan/they exchanged her with a normal Mewman, Festivia, ruining the Butterfly family bloodline.😐 i dont think it was Eclipsa's fault that the bloodline isnt straight.. I think its the General High Commition's and Shastacan's faults because they exchanged Meteora with Festivia and yeah... its pretty messed up

Eclipsa is awesome. She is unique and different. :). I admire people who do not follow into their society's "beliefs" and instead attempt to stand out and have a mind of their own. :). The same can be said for Star. 😁😁😁

i feel as if when they first introduced eclipsa and her chapter, it really was like the darkhold and the only reason star wasn't corrupted was because she wasn't into dark magic. then later on they just retconned this, changed star's reaction that it wasn't that bad and make us forget the times when other people read it they got corrupted even though that's how TOFFEE TOOK OVER LUDO IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!
