I think there are two ways to read this Brooke/Stephanie scene. It seems innocent on the surface -- Brooke giving Ridge space to make a decision and Stephanie expressing concern for Brooke. It's possible to view her move as more selfish and calculating than it appears (especially when she refuses to tell Taylor where Ridge is in the next episode). And Stephanie dropping by to see Brooke and then Ridge is a classic Stephanie move to try gain information and subtly manipulate the outcome of a love triangle. And notice how Stephanie doesn't tell Brooke where she's going next.
@@NewYorkNick0607 I just saw your post and replied to it, and yes, you make a compelling argument that really makes me look at that interaction in a different light! I agree that this scene can definitely be read as both Brooke and Stephanie having ulterior motives (in fact, it's a more "in character" interpretation than the one that first came to my mind). And it's yet another example of Brooke resisting the Good Girl archetype on a closer reading - still, I would say that we _have_ entered the first (the "Taylor-esque") part of Brooke's "Good Girl phase" (which will always be somewhat glitchy) because the parallels to Taylor encouraging Ridge to make a choice are so clear. By the way, in my 1996 viewing I just came across the first indication of Brooke being about to _exit_ her Good Girl phase (her kissing Grant in episode 2350).
@@NewYorkNick0607 you know, I'm getting more and more invested in the whole "Brooke's character mimicry" reading. It's not actually _good_ characterization as much as it's _intriguing_ because it reveals an intention on Brad 🔔's part to reform Brooke's character into something he perceives as more of a "heroine", and he does this without really taking Brooke's actual _character_ (or history) into account. So whatever Brooke does, there is a "yes, but..." attached. And it presents some interesting questions, like _why exactly_ is Taylor better than Brooke at _being Taylor?_
@@annieo6527 Yes! I love it too and I'll be looking out for more examples of it going forward. Oh btw I also love your point about mimicry in the animal kingdom. 😁

Love it!! I also feel it resembles the scene "Trust in me" from The Jungle Book between Kaa and Mowgli....except that Brooke has none of Mowgli 's innocence ...🤣😂 And let's not forget who the real person in pain is regardless of the facts: Ridge 😂😂
"The terrible tragedy of losing Caroline" Stephanie was so devastated by that death that she was trying to get over that pain by thinking of how to use it to get Eric back. Same day of her funeral.
@@jgoldfarb3 I didn't have the best opinion on her, it was a sad death though, I felt sorry for her and how scared and in pain she seemed in her last moments.
I think as sad as Caroline's death was, it was a "perfect" death, a beautiful death. She left in peace and although she was missed, there was no "infection" in the wound left by her passing.
I always thought of Ridge as much older than me (I'm in my 50's and was in my early 20's when this originally aired). So to hear Stephanie say, "for someone so young..." I think: wow! I never thought of Ridge as "young," but I'm guessing that in these episodes of the first 10 years, he's thought to have been in his 30's.
@@z-5reader939 The same way she believes shes the only wife for Eric....Ridge us an adult who is capable of making his own decision...Stephanie does more than offer advice she plots and meddle to destroy people...
Now I've watched 2086 episodes, watching several episodes every day. Bold and the Beautiful - 1995 (S8 E335) FULL EPISODE 2086 These episodes are from 1995. Why do I have to wait for a new episode every day here on TH-cam? Since they are from 1995, I will never finish the entire series as long as I live with only one episode per day.
They give ridge in big bear more screentime.. than Thorne going through his worst nightmare in jail... very unfair script.... and not handling the drama of the stories fair.
How much times has passed since Jasmine's awful accident? (Elevator has dropped three floors) She is not just awake already, but really has to suffer through these visits from the uninvited visitors?
Oh Brooke - thin ice, thin ice. Never say that he would be with you even if he loved Caroline. Because that would never have been the case. His love for Caroline was something completely different, a deep soul connection and not just limited to the bedroom.
Stephanie doesn't give a damn about Brooke Forrester marriage she is just there to gloat that she may possibly lose Ridge but I don't think it's going to happen 😮
Did we even see when Eric and Stephanie have visited Thorne in jail, or just had them sitting on the couch talking about when they have visited Thorne?
Hmm Ridge stayed w Brooke from the time Taylor showed herself to him and despite the verdict she sent him to choose and think so in a way he did choose Brooke shes making sure he wont waffle as his usual
it can never be Brooke all he has with her is bad memories after all she is his fathers wife mother of his brother his step mother and she robbed their company and took it from them i do not know what is their to think about
Is Brooke sending Ridge away really _that_ unselfish? He only spent time with her after the hearing and in the next episode Brooke will refuse to tell Taylor where he is. Sending him away under those conditions is tantamount to ensuring that he doesn't spend any time with Taylor before making his decision. Brooke has a knack for making selfish moves and calling them sacrifices.
Ooh, that _is_ a good point, I didn't consider than angle! It again shows the "glitchiness" we talked about earlier, with Brooke acting out a "Taylor move" but without fully becoming one with it (it really reinforces the "mimicry" metaphor we discussed earlier, in an almost literal way compared to how it works in the animal kingdom). And Taylor not finding out where Ridge is, is also a "Good Girl disadvantage" - but then that is contradicted by Taylor's "less good proxy" Stephanie _already being with Ridge_ in Taylor's place to protect her interests, potentially giving Taylor a possible _advantage_ that she doesn't know she has.
I was thinking the same thing! It's very convenient for Brooke to claim she's just giving Ridge space but she's also preventing him from spending any time with Taylor. And then when Taylor wants her time with Ridge, Brooke (and her stans) will say _Taylor_ is trying to pressure him even though Brooke already clocked her time and used her usual pressure tactics (the children). 🙄🙄
Watching the old episodes, I am always wondering when these rich people will get mobile phones. Ridge has a phone in his car (and so Taylor was able to help with Bridget's birth), but he still doesn't have a mobile one?
Why tell Taylor about his whereabouts? He didnt attempt to spend time w Taylor or tell her he is going away, she sent him off to think away from both of them.
Good to see Steph/Susan. But otherwise boring episode. Bradleys writing isn't really doing it. He is destroying characters. The show already has gone downhill and it will even more so after 2003/2004. There will be too much hoegans around.
Nice catch! BTW do you know the name of that music cue that plays when Stephanie gives the "You'll always have someone to love you" speech? It starts around the 17 minute mark as she discusses Ridge marrying Caroline, then Taylor and the music rises when she gets to Brooke. I love that cue. It's the "Stephanie says something poignant to Ridge" cue. 😄 I remember they also played it in a future episode (you would've seen this already from your Video Land viewing) after the paternity reveal when Stephanie is telling Ridge how much Taylor has suffered and that he has to let her go and let her move on with her life. It was a beautiful monologue and the music cue really helped sell the emotion of the scene (the poster Nikki Newman had that scene up for a while before her videos got taken down).
you talked about that cue in the ep when Ridge met Taylor in the private dining room after her reveal. Ive found the ep and read it again "A beacon of light in the darkness" you said. 😊
@@NewYorkNick0607I love that scene. Stephanie does justice to Taylor's pain during her first marriage with Ridge. Something Taylor would never hold against him. It had to be done and only Stephanie could do it properly.
@@babs4848 yes! I have referred to it as the "beacon of light" cue because that is the way it's usually used, and this has been pretty consistent over the years. It tends to show up when a person is in need of comfort or guidance, and another person shows up like a light in the darkness and makes things right. So Ridge thinking about Bridget while this plays says it all - she is the light in his life and the one he truly wants to be with.
@@NewYorkNick0607 I don't know the name of the cue - some cues were posted about three months ago but this isn't one of them (I am still hoping they will post more of these classic music cues so we have names for them!).
is it a rewrite again? Stephanie didnt thought that Ridge had a second chance when he married Taylor...this happened afterwards whe she and her became close.
As I recall Steph was against Ridge marrying Taylor…until their wedding. Then she was suddenly against Brooke trying to speak to Ridge. It was at this point Steph became Taylor’s biggest fan. 😊

Good question! I know he is not on contract during this storyline (according to the end credits), but if there is any backstage gossip other than that regarding JT, maybe our soap reporter has the scoop? 🍧
I don't know. We are still in the phase of the writers not knowing what to write for Thorne. I think nick posted a link to an interview of JT. The writers didn't know what to write for him, but truthfully they didn't know what to write for anyone, especially not SF. I think JT started doing at that time a lot of theater and stand up comedy. Also, I saw an interview with him here on yt (its from recent time), where he talked about his life than. He was at this point in his life having mental health issues and depression. He was at the lowest in his life, he said. Maybe he needed those breaks or different outlets or time off, because of it.
Forgive me if I'm not moved. Would Brooke 'unselfishly' tell Ridge to go think about what he wants if the judge had ruled in her favor? The last time she asked him to choose between her and his wife (Monte Carlo, Monaco 🇲🇨) she didn't respect his decision, despite the fact that she'd pitched one of her "this is our last chance"
I'm also not moved. Brooke's just sad bc she lost the "Whose the Wife" court case... She'll really lose it when she loses the "Who's the Daddy" contest too
That relationship never had a chance. Deep down, Stephanie could never forgive Brooke for having an affair with her husband. Then again, most women wouldn't.
@@asmazakI agree. And they didn't really have a relationship, at least not an honest, sincere one. Brooke more or less bargain and dangled the Stocks in front of Stephanie. Thats not a friendship, that only a deal. And Brooke never thought about really giving up that stock.
When Taylor came back , Stephanie went into her office to let her explain why she married Omar. She forgave Taylor and asked her not to give up on Ridge. And Taylor replied that she couldn't destroy her new relationship with Brooke, and Stephanie said: Brooke who? The one who asked me the deal/sacrifice to have a civil relationship in exchange for the stocks?

LOL How many times has Ridge been up to that cabin to decide which woman he wants to be with? Just a year and a half ago he "had" to choose between the same two women *again*. Ridge and his romantic travails just can't be taken seriously.
Brooke def was smart to send Ridge to a location where she thinks Taylor cannot access him. But the problem I'm also having, is that Ridge doesn’t seem keen on his own to even talk to Taylor. He didn't even pass by her house on his way to big bear to say he was going to think,or to even see how she was doing. This is very strange behaviour for a man who was just spending loads of time thinking /talking about Taylor. The writers are making it very obvious what his choice is going to be

Something I never understood about the big bear cabin. it only has one bedroom as noted when Caroline and Brooke took the bedroom and Ridge and Thorne slept in the living room. So how did Stephanie and Eric bring four children there for vacations?
I wondered the same thing way back then. It only served the dilemma in that episode. A cabin like that owned by the Foresters surely would have a bedroom/kid. Or at least a bedroom for the sisters and another for the brothers. At the minimum 3!
@greggel Ridge and Taylor's marriage was on the rocks before she left for Egypt and he's been really happy with Brooke - why would his decision not be based on love? Brooke is the first one that gave him a real family

@@annieo6527 👍 Who knew all I had to do was ask? 😉

@@jgoldfarb3yes, Caroline was the BEST of them all. Ridge loved all three women, but Caroline and Ridge had a very special love story💖💖
Jasmine is a very good actress 🎉
Your so right about that
Why tell Taylor about his whereabouts? He didnt attempt to spend time w Taylor or tell her he is going away, she sent him off to think away from both of them.

Bridget got the Paulina's Big Smile music cue! (the interpretation is obvious)
