    We closed all of our cards except 1 because we kept them open we would use them. Lowered our credit by 80 points but then gained 120 points after 2 months

    Hi Ame! This was amazing, love how you're preparing to tackle this debt. Remember we all have those moments where we take a few steps back in our journeys, but we don't give up. Yall got this! 💐 I am currently looking to restart cash budgeting and budgeting itself again. My current journey is trying to save money to get my own home. California is so expensive, but as frustrating as it is to know I can't afford it on my own just yet it gave me a perspective of where I am in the process. Staying positive! 💜

    It’s been a month, first time seeing your channel. Hopefully your plan is going well. As Caleb would say you are not a credit card person. When you get a few of the smaller debts paid off the budget will get easier.

    $300 extra a month wont pay this off in 20 months. That's $6K vs $20K in CC debt. You'll need to put at least $1000 extra to clear the CC debt in that time frame. The car loan interest is not bad for a used car so I'd focus on the credt cards. Chase is predatory for giving you a line of credit that big based on your income but whats done is done. Good luck and keep moving forward.

    • @AmethystBudgets
      @AmethystBudgets  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the input! I did use a debt calculator and a full breakdown that's shown in the video, so with a $500 base pay, it's an $800 payment each month to that card alone. That's also not considering that most of the due amount has less interest thanks to the "pay over time" feature that chase offers. So I guess we'll see if it goes how the calculator said it would. I appreciate the support!

      It's $300 extra on top of the $1300 minimums! Even a small amount of extra money helps pay debts down

    Hi Amethyst 👋 thank you for sharing, if you are thinking of getting more money towards the payoff, did you work out a debt snowball method which pays off the smallest debt to largest and those payments snowball to the next smallest balance 😊 15:05

    • @AmethystBudgets
      @AmethystBudgets  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! This was an avalanche method so we can avoid as much debt as possible given most of our small debts have little to no interest:) thank you so much for your support!

      For me, it was eating out. Not even kidding. I would eat out 1-3 times a day everyday when I first graduated high school and moved to college. Went into over $1k credit card debt before the end of year one. And the bad habit just stuck, and my income hasn’t really changed :/

    • @AmethystBudgets
      @AmethystBudgets  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I was low income, about 28-30k in an expensive area to live in and was simply dumb with my cards. There was A lot of pet and car emergencies, honestly that's the bulk of it and then one off food or fun payments. I also invested some into my business. The apple was all electronics that had been stolen from us and we replaced. I never had a functioning emergency fund, so I used my credit instead. Highly do not recommend 🤣🤣 but I'm aware of how bad it is and am determined to get rid of it. All of my reasons are excuses and I'm acknowledging that. Hopefully you're willing to stick around and see it paid off!

    • @AmethystBudgets
      @AmethystBudgets  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yep, that was how I blew thru my disposable income as a teen. It's a really hard habit to break. Anything revolving food is more difficult to fix in my experience. Hope you're doing better now, I wanna do a cheap easy eats series to help with things like this

    • @BrittanieRaynor
      @BrittanieRaynor 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Its honestly not hard to do if you don't have someone there to explain how absolutely terrible credit cards can get you.

      @@AmethystBudgets I was a middle-ish income earner back in Malaysia... had some bad decisions and lost about 20kUSD(MYR100k) in stocks. Still have some in the retirement funds that I'm not allowed to touch.
      Moving to Toronto, Canada....I'm at a minimum wage job for about a year now... job hunt is nuts. Luckily my spouse has a stable income job and we're kinda splitting monthly cost at 80:20 ratio. Knowing that living abroad is living life on extraHard mode...I tend to save more and manage to build a small savings/investments here.
      But yeah like what BrittanieRaynor said below... not having a good money mentor can make life go south so fast if one does not have money discipline. Looking bad I wished I had a better mentor cause I mirrored my dad's investing habits... hence making the same mistakes he did.
      I'm glad that you're really committed to clearing the bad debts and I wish you all the best. If you need to bounce some money ideas... I'm open to listening, may be able to give a second/third opinion though may not be the best one.
