Lindsay don’t ever worry about your audience not being interested in anything you discuss in your videos.. I for one have thoroughly enjoyed this video and watched this video a few times through! I have a lot of these items in my Amazon cart!
You finished 3 sketchbooks! That’s great! Not boring at all. Exciting!💕 Art is a great obsession!💕 The little wood watercolor palette would be great gift with a sketchbook 💕 I loved seeing what you pack and use for vacation/retreat. I stuffed my backpack with my art supplies for a flight to SF couple years ago. Only used my small set of watercolor. Carry on. So heavy 😅. Transfer was murder. I don’t know what I was thinking 😅 Glad you had fun💕
Brilliant video, I love seeing what others take on vacation! So cute how you packed the tinyest watercolour palettes but then brought the massive bag of alcohol markers 😁 I always want to bring everything, as I do miss my art supplies when I’m away, but recently I went more minimal - but it’s still too much 😂
Wow that looked like a lot of stuff. I've had most of my supplies in storage for 18 months and now finally got a senior apartment. I'm unpacking more bins of art supplies than I have of everything else combined. 😂
What great travel art kit ideas! I love the fanny pack usage--that really makes you think about what you're taking, what you will use most, and not overloading!
Great video! Today I finally unpacked my big rolling craft “suitcase” I use for crafty weekends. Was packed for an event in the spring and was unable to,go at the last minute. I was laughing as i unpacked, realizing I didn’t miss one single thing! I may have a problem😂
You would think this is not interesting to watch but watching what artists use or take to places shows exactly what artists value. Obviously, if it were up to us, we would take the whole studio. But when forced to slim down in supplies, it shows the true process of how an artist works. You are someone I admire as an artist and teacher, so this is very helpful. It's almost like peering inside your mind and not just watching the pretty art come alive.
Lindsey, instead of a sock on your wrist I use a sport sweatband because they’re meant to be absorbent and I use that one. I’m out for my watercolours if I need to pack light.
I really enjoyed seeing what you have in your travel bag. It made me feel so much better about mine. I always take to much, but then I have to pack for each trip. So, after two or three days of getting ready I have changed my mind at least two or three times about what kind of project I want to work on, and, then I wind up taking all of it. I need to find a cabin with WiFi so I can just immerse myself in one of your classes.
Speaking of New York...an hour or 2 north of nyc there's an art park called "Storm King Art Center" in New Windsor, NY where there are acres and acres of fantastic modern art sculptures that you can walk through or ride on their guided tram tour and see. They have a few Alexander Calder s there. Even if you're not that into huge modern art sculptures (I can take them or leave them but they are great visuals) the park itself is so beautiful. It's worth a stop.
I did in fact fall asleep to this last night but I always come back and watch the end the next day! I only wish you'd shown what you did in the ends of those sketchbooks!
Super fun video! That's alot of markers, but makes sense since you were on a retreat with other artists. Probably way too many for me on a personal vacay. Love the urban art, signs etc. They are really fun!
I so appreciate this video! We are planning a trip in March and I wanted to put together a bag for sketching and painting. You made my choices on what to take so much easier! Thank you
Thank you for sharing what you packed to take with you and for giving us all a peek inside your sketchbooks, and congrats for finishing them! I really enjoyed hearing what you said about the markers and that you were up for sharing if anyone needed something! Very nice video to watch whilst I enjoy my morning coffee!
Its so interesting to see what you took and used. The last couple of times I have packed way more art supplies than I've actually used, I think I overestimate how much time the children actually let me paint. Looking forward to seeing your inktober sketches. I'm so pleased I actually finished inktober this year, albeit in the first week of November😂.
Good, I am not the only one who brings everything but the kitchen sink!!!! I am so glad that I am not alone, because I bring things, 🎉will I need it? Yeah, ya never know, packing it. ❤️ from Ohio🇺🇸
Great idea to cut your brushes 31:41 in half. If you want them to have a tip to scratch, cut them diagonally -and use your husband's sanding machine to make it smoother and pointier. I did this (although Insanded by hand😊!) and then painted the tip with gold coloured acrylic paint. It looks so good!
Fun video, Lindsay!! So many great ideas for travel/plein air painting! Fun to see what you used...You didn't mention Jason, and if he drew some faces....😊 Thanks again!!
😆 the "Jase-face" game is strong! He worked on some lessons from Jake Parker because we got a 3 month pass to his online school as part of the retreat.
Lindsay, Better to be prepared for whatever art adventure that may come your way. My husband would say, “minimize your packing. “Then again , if it’s a first time experience…. You’re just not sure what to pack. It’s the what if’s that get you in a jam. I know I seem to pack more variety art supplies when we go on vacation. Heck! Half the time we aren’t by any art store’s. Except for this year and was I in seventh heaven! I digress. I’m guilty of overpacking, too. The again when I have to carry that extraordinarily heavy backpack. Well I do think , What the heck! 😂🤣😁 By the way, I always enjoy your video’s. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Warm Regards, Martina
Hi Lindsay... so cool to see what you took and that you actually used most of it shows how well you packed. Glad you had such a lovely trip. Funny... I was reminded of my doctor who sometimes talks like a doctor and it's over my head... you talk like an artist and it's over my head too! LOL 😆 🤣 🙂
I love videos like this, always helpful for me to know how to put together a travel bag for art practice since doing so at home doesn't seem to work out to well for me. Maybe, you don't think so, but I know I'd be happy to own any kind of art made by you. If I had my own income, I'd be first in line to buy any of your sketchbooks/art that you're not fond of. Last but not least, nope I've still not been able to acquire my set of artists grade watercolor tube paints that I've been wanting to get. Ohh well. Thanks for keeping your channel going, we love you. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
A small bag with a sketchbook and the watercolors you have, even if they are not the best, is definitely usable and won't hurt anything to practice with. Good luck!
Thoroughly enjoyed this! I LOVE seeing what other people pack and then eventually use! Soo fun 😊 Glad you finished up some sketchbooks too, that's always soo satisfying!🎉
I can relate, we take a lot of trips during the year and I do the same thing with my supplies. I pick things up and put them down trying to decide what I might, or might not need. I always figure it’s better to overpack. 😬
I'm taking my small pencil case with business card holder that has my paints in it and DIY A5 sketchbook with me each day in hope that I can draw on my lunch hour. 😅😅😅 Now it's gotten too cold to draw outside, though. Do you have a business card holder with eyeshadow tin cans inside for the paints? I'd love to see it
@@thefrugalcrafter I saw a video with this idea on urban sketches channel here on TH-cam 7 years ago. It it still on their channel available to watch is the best video on plainair sketching tools!!! Arttoolkit probably took this idea and made it for sale. I'd love to see your case
Glad to hear your dad is doing well. I love the Holy Donut! But you have to get there in the morning because the vegan donuts go quick! If you think driving in Portland is stressful never drive in Atlanta. That’s where I learned to drive in four lanes of traffic. 😂 Compared to that Portland is a breeze!
I absolutely love this video concept. Only saw the first half when writing this but I didn’t want to risk forgetting this. Paused the video to give this tip: I have those Chinese brushes too, both the white and the brown ones. After a bad wet-dog situation with my travel squirrel 12 brush (thought no way they would be real hair for the price at that time but considering the smell they at least ought to be partly real hair) I drilled that way too small whole at the end of the cap wider. And with that experience in mind, I just cut off the ends of those somewhat flexible caps of those Chinese brushes. Those caps are long enough for them to not still serve their purpose. I was able to fix my broken one but I’ll keep your solution in mind should I have a problem with one of those. Now, on to part 2 of this video, quite curious how much you did and didn’t use lol I always bring too much 😅
This is really interesting! I don’t travel much, but I have learned not to pack too much art supplies when I do. Just a sketchbook and pen.😂 I’m often too exhausted on trips to do any painting.
This was so much fun. I need to do that with myself. Next time I come back from my retreat. I always way way way over packed. And then I feel guilty about bringing everything so then I try to use everything in place.
Thanks for sharing all the stuff you brought...a lot! It's always fun to see 😬We just took a quick trip to Baltimore (we live less than an hr away) and I took a sketchbook with a few pencils...thinking maybe I could do some sketching on the way. Who was I kidding? I was listening to a video and never touched it...and it was dark on the way home (husband driving.) But I tend to overpack for all those "just in case" necessaries.🙄

I packed for an art retreat 😂😢💕
Nice!

😊❤🎉
Love the concept and very interested but you talk so fast and so high pitched and squeaky I really can't understand a word you say.
Hi... maybe your settings are on double time? I ended up speeding it up to 1.5 to finish it up before bed and understood her just fine...😊
I watch on double time and still understand Lindsay because her diction is excellent. I agree with the previous poster, check the speed settings on your video, it must be on something you are not used to.
