I suggest you watch the official video so you can see what each person is doing. They can and do perform this live without a backing track. You can find live performances and even off-mic performances here on TH-cam. No need to react (unless you want to) but it definitely gives you perspective.
If you liked this I suggest their edm-inspired original song Love Again (there is an official video but beware of copyright with Sony). I also suggest their most-viewed video (it’s closing in on 700 million views) Hallelujah.
If you want rock, react to Radioactive featuring Lindsey Sterling (not straight acapella since Lindsey is a violinist and the PTX beatboxer, Kevin, breaks out his cello as well. He can play and beatbox at the same time-he calls it “celloboxing”) and their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (which got Brian May’s approval).
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole.

I clicked on this fast too - but for some reason I am just getting a notification a day after it was posted - but yes, I always love to see reactor's 1st time hearing Ptx - especially Daft Punk or Bohemian Rhapsody! Watching a music lover's mind get totally blown away by Ptx is addictive!!! Lol! And he made a huge mistake by not reacting to the music video - he would have been twice as blown away!! The video is almost as impressive as the song itself. And Love again is the same - he can redeem himself if he reacts to the MV of that original masterpiece! 😉 Yay! Another new A Capella recruit!! I'm down for it!!!

    Welcome to the show! 🤣
No, but for real, we always love to see these insane humans getting appreciated. You really can't miss with literally anything they do. They never put something out that isn't amazing.
    Also, in order of entrance:
Mitch Grassi, countertenor and resident diva
Scott Hoying, baritone, sings a lot of "lead" parts
Kirstin Maldonado, soprano, doesn't take the lead often, but when she does, watch out!
Avi Kaplan, bass (and I mean bass). Left the group (amicably) in 2017, Matt Sallee now fills that role
Kevin Olusola, known affectionately as "The Human 808", plays the cello (while beatboxing, look up "celloboxing")
With you being a rock fan, I can tell you it's a genre they don't touch too often, but here's a few of their songs to get you started that you'll probably enjoy most:
Love Again (original EDM track, most similar to this and IMO criminally underappreciated)
Sing (original, one of the more "rock" songs they do)
    Can't Hold Us (cover)
    Problem (Ariana Grande cover)
    Blinding Lights (Weeknd cover)
A few of my other personal favorites:
    Attention (Charlie Puth cover)
Can You Feel the Love Tonight?
    Papaoutai (Stromae cover)
    Midnight in Tokyo (original)
    Coffee in Bed (original)
    Be My Eyes (original)
    Aha! (Imogen Heap cover)
Hope you have an amazing time discovering the rest of their absurd catalog!

  • @ShinyElfriend

PTX will never lets me down. I can't count how many original songs I was "meh" about, or just weren't my genre preference, but Pentatonix made a version I can't get enough of. Nothing wrong with Daft Punk originals, but PTX made this award-winning arrangement something I never get tired of hearing. Rock isn't their main genre, but I'm not sure they even have a main genre, lol! They did a version of Bohemian Rhapsody that got the approval of Brian May, and in the Sing Off competition, they did a version of Born to be Wild, that was impressive, and right after they had gotten together over ten years ago. As great as they were then, they have only gotten better. They have done classic songs, pop, edm, rap, folk, at least one country with Dolly Parton that won them another Grammy, lots of uniquely arranged versions of Christmas seasonal stuff, plus a bunch of crazy good originals. On top of that, there are solo projects from the members. Its a rabbit hole of immense proportions, be we are here for it, if you want to give it a shot.😉

I had to sub, your reaction to actually hearing what you wanted to hear but did not think was possible, was just great. I'm here for more PTX. Really you can't go wrong with anything you do of theirs. They have a good mix of covers, and original songs. Yes they won a grammy for this. They had won a sing off show on nbc, part of that was a recording contrract. The recording company was bought out shortly after, and they were dropped because the new company didn' tthink they could make money with accappella music. They did not know Pentatonix.
The week they were dropped they scrapped together their last $400 (there is some confusion on some of these details so I"ll be brief), they recorded the audio in a closet, and blacked out either a kitchen or bedroom, and recorded the video, edited it in their kitchen, and threw it up on TH-cam (my guess, they didn't know what else to do), they won their first grammy for it. Their second grammy, well only PTX a group that does not use instruments can win a song with no words. They did a cover for Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohn, what I read said he saw the video and said it was the best version he had ever heard. When they did the Cover of Bohemian Rahpsody, Brian May, (lead guitar and astrophysicist) watched it and immediately sent it out on all his social media, with one word, "Enjoy". Now that is a compliment.
There are over 200 songs in their playlist, and not a bad one in the bunch. Some are not my type of music, but I can still say they did a good job on them.
I second the suggestion that you watch the official video on your own, you missed so much of the Daft Punk vibe, as they all dressed for the part. Although their record company does copyright hits on every body, if you can avoid the official video, that will get you around, if YOU have to use the official video, make it so transparent it can barely be seen, and put words over it, it's a pain in the ass, but just do what you have to. All of us pentaholics have seen the video, and are watching for your reaction more than the video., so we don't care. Also pausing for 10-12 seconds every now and then helps also.

Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole :). If you like rock, they have a lot of options actually. I'd suggest you watch their official videos if possible, so you can see what each of the 5 members is doing (yes, there's only 5 of them). They're so amazing. I'd suggest their Bohemian Rhapsody, Radioactive (which is a collaboration with Lindsey Stirling in which the beatboxer plays the cello WHILE he beatboxes), The Sound of Silence, or Imagine. They also do "Evolution" videos of certain artists, which is just the five of them in front of a microphone in one take. I think you'd like their Evolution of Michael Jackson. Also, if you like EDM type things, they have an original song called Love Again that is impressive.

You’d be absolutely correct to call him a percussionist! In a cappella his role would technically be considered vocal percussion, as beatboxing has evolved to be its own thing. Vocal percussion is used to serve the song and create a backing beat, whereas beatboxing is more of a solo act

I am subbing, hoping you will continue reacting to Ptx!! You would have enjoyed this even more if you had watched the official video, as it is super creative & fun! Next from them should be Love Again (official video), an original & is a similar vibe to this one. And you would love the Bohemian Rhapsody MV too. Then "Can't Hold Us", just because I know you would be so impressed with their skill!! And before you dive much deeper into the rabbit hole that is Ptx, you really should go to Kevin Olusola's solo channel, KO - (he is the beatboxer) and watch his cover of "Down" by Macklemore & Lewis. Your jaw will hit the floor by about halfway thru the song. This will let you see how super multitalented he is. Personally, I would suggest that you watch lots of his solo work, even if it's just on your own time. He has an amazing voice, which you hear only occasionally in the Ptx catalog, as he is usually beatboxing. PLEASE continue reacting to Ptx!!! I think you will be very glad you did!! They took the A capella world by storm 10+ years ago, when they won season 3 of NBC's The Sing-Off, turned it on it's head & converted lots of people who swore they didn't like A capella music into pentaholics (see my profile pic to see my upper arm tattoo "PENTAHOLIC"), so yes - I am a die-hard Pentaholic - my whole world was rock & roll since the 1970s on up - so coming from a huge rock fan who lives & breathes rock, I know you will love Ptx. You mentioned Home Free - I love them too - and I have always detested country music!!! - but you need to add one more A capella group to your list, and that's Voiceplay. They will blow you away too!! Pentatonix, Home Free & Voiceplay - that's the big 3 who rule the A capella community! Trust me - you will love them all!!! Have fun!!!

PTX is unbelievably awesome! They have at least one or two songs in most genres, but they primarily do more pop music. That being said, if you're someone who (like me) would say they're not really into pop music, hearing what PTX does with their arrangements is something special and gets most of us to fall in love with songs that we hated the original versions of.
For rock music, people have already mentioned Bohemian Rhapsody. Their original Sing has a little bit of a rock vibe to it and it's also fun to go back to when they were on The Sing-Off (where they get started as a group) to see their performance of Born to be Wild.

  • @margretrosenberg420
    @margretrosenberg420 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I hope you were watching this, not just listening (I know that the videos frequently run into copyright problems for reactors which posting the audio alone can avoid). With official Pentatonix videos there's as much artistry in the presentation as there is in the actual music.
You can't go wrong with Pentatonix. They put out a Christmas album every year, which makes a *lot* of Christmas songs, so think of a Christmas song that you hate because it's already been done to death, and look for a Pentatonix cover of that song. If you find one you'll likely discover that you like the song after all.
For specific recommendations, look for the Pentatonix -covers- upgrades of _Hallelujah,_ _Imagine,_ and _Bohemian Rhapsody_ for starters, preferably in that order. And I specifically mean the official videos, not live performances - you can get to live performances later (some of them are incredible), but the official videos will give you more information about the band.
You may find it easier to include the video in your reaction if you put, say, a large transparent (but visible) "COPYRIGHT" over the video. I've also seen videos make it when the video itself takes up the full screen but is transparent so that the reactor is visible behind it, and I've seen some videos make it through with little glitters moving over the video like fireflies or falling snow.

PTX- nothing else like them on the entire planet 🔥🤯🦄💕! I recommend Bohemian Rhapsody and their original Love Again. I hope you react to the official videos, but as someone else said, copyright is a pain, so change the translucency of the video or add words over the screen. You will not be disappointed, and you might even like other songs that aren’t rock. Their Can’t Hold Us Macklemore cover is superb!

I love PTX, and Home Free....Now you need to react to the third in the trifecta of Acapella. VoicePlay are the theatrical group in Acapella. They have done 4 songs from Nightmare before Christmas. I recommend Oogie Boogie. It shows off the Bassists talents. Geoff has a 5 octive range

If you want to hear an a cappella group sing Rock, react to Voiceplay’s version of “Dream On” by Aerosmith!!

  • @chrisbateman5358

The top three acapella groups out there (in my humble opinion) are Pentatonix, Home Free, and Voice Play. All three have done some rock but the best at it (again, in my humble opinion) is Voice Play. They do and outstanding Dream On (Aerosmith - th-cam.com/video/SEz9VFmvG_I/w-d-xo.html) and Carry On Wayward Son (Kansas - th-cam.com/video/evG28VVz4dY/w-d-xo.html). Although, Pentatonix does and amazing cover of Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen - th-cam.com/video/ojRj2JK5oCI/w-d-xo.html). I urge you to check them out.

There are 3 a Capella groups that I love, (Pentatonix, Home Free, & Voice Play), and all 3 cross many genres, however, if you are looking for rock based songs, you may want to check out some of Voice Play, and for Pentatonix rock, I can think of Bohemian Rhapsody, Radioacitve, Mad World & Scott Hoying from Pentatonix, for the song Creep....For Home Free, & Voice Play, just check their playlists 😊Loved your reaction!

Rock for Pentatonix? you might want to look at their radioactive cover with Lindsey Stirling. Other accapella artists I would recommend are Peter Hollens, specifically his Skyrim stuff, Voiceplay Oogie Boogie's song(From the Nightmare Before Xmas), and Mike Tompkins, his cover of: Kygo & Imagine Dragons - Born To Be Yours. If you are looking for actual rock to react to, might I suggest Yannis Papadopoulos Ghost Love Score? (If you know the original Nightwish version you'll be blown away by Yannis's cover), but other rock, Smash Into Pieces, Dead by April, Birds of Tokyo(specifically broken bones), Dead Letter Circus, Poets of the Fall, Citizen Soldier, Don Vedda, to name a few rock artists that are not quite as well known in the US.

This song didn’t win a Grammy for nothing. They won it because of their video and their audio. The video. You missed all the stories from the fans that love that video and Pentatonix. It was the best video in the world. Though they only had $400 for the editing but their editor turned it into a masterpiece. I believe there are a billion views on this video alone. You ship or t changed Pentatonix by doing only audio. I stopped your audio at a 1 minute 34 seconds. I’m sorry I picked your audio though it was Pentatonix algorithms that brought you to me not you.
