Why do you put [SFM] in front of your videos if they are animated in s2fm?
from my experience more people know about the [sfm] tag that it gets the video more views.

Honestly didnt even know about s2fm. Plus it almost doesnt matter, we just looking for films made in source. Not in a specific quality per say in s2fm.
Slight correction at 3:30 - S2FM does have per-bone scaling, but you need to open the Element Viewer and add `$scale` to a bone instead. Can also turn it into an animset and key frame it too. ;)

Hi Harry
I think valve is probably one of the most independent gaming companies. They make good games, with a gaming engine THEY created, not to mention they make cutscenes and films with SFM, which THEY created.
They’re extremely successful yet still have remained privately owned. They have made some of their own hardware. They also own the dominant pc distribution platform.
and they post it on the world's most popular gaming website for pc (steam), which THEY created

Until that day, however, I am staying on SFM.
Same, spending like 45 pounds for only a sfm2 program isnt worth it. People just need to port the HL:A maps to sfm1 too.

Half-Life: Alyx has way more basic light entities that would either not work in Source 1 or look flat and boring
also the ambient occlusion and reflections would get a considerable downgrade

i don't know what i expected. I know very well what S2FM is but i still clicked on this video, and got exactly what the title said, and yet i still feel bewildered.

It's hilarious because porting is what put Gmod and facepunch on the map. The game is literally designed to port different items from source games to Half-Life, and the original facepunch forum was built upon discussion of extracting assets from different games, and is responsible for the current extraction knowledge of IdTech (among other things), with content made with extracted models being praised by Id Software.
For a company built upon this, and who's popularity is what lead to the SFM becoming public, to take a shit on that is a cruel joke made in poor hindsight

Yeah, the current viewmodels and animations are placeholders at the moment. Hell, even the viewmodel for the fists have the exact same model and animations from Garry's Mod

S2FM looks seriously fantastic, but I'm perfectly content with my current abandoned animating software thank you very much.
Still, Source 2's bottle shaders and glass physics is a marvel and a half.

Yep, s&box community are def a bunch of toxic people especially when it comes to ported content, always claiming it's "piracy", "illegal" and "lazy" when
1. It's not the entire game itself being ported and free games exist
2. Most game developers don't care or allow ported content
3. Actually takes some effort depending on what's needed to be done
Most people are just going to use that ported content for art or rp anyways so why throw a fit over it?

Slight correction : Source 2 wasn't made for Dota 2. According to "The Final Hours Of Half Life Alyx" it was originally made for Half Life 3 but the game was never finished because of how unfinished Source 2 was until the Source 2 update for Dota 2 and HLA.

Half Life: Alyx only gives source 2 film maker and mapping tools for HL:A, there is currently no SDK for source 2 even though there really should fucking be one.

dude i use s2fm for free because the "DLC" of Dota 2 Workshop Tools, and dota 2 and its wokrshop are totally free, so you dont have to buy Alyx to use S2fm but u have to if u want the assets from Alyx (i use assets from dota and import other ones from blender etc)
I'm super excited for source 2, but also not, because my computer won't be able to run it. I will be stuck in the past with a paygate to the noderen day if a couple grand, fun.

3:07 - the Nemestice trailer (and the overwhelming majority of Dota trailers since) do not use the SFM, but Blender instead. Same for the two short CS:GO videos that released recently.
