What to Do When You’re Tempted. God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. (James 1:12) Though Jesus is God, He laid aside some of the privileges of His deity. He did not void His deity; He veiled it. He humbled Himself and became a man. Jesus experienced human limitations like we do. He was tired. He knew physical thirst and physical hunger. And He also felt physical weakness. The Bible also teaches that Jesus was tempted. And He left us an example to follow when we face temptation ourselves. When the devil tempted Jesus to turn stones into bread, He said, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone’” (Luke 4:4) When the devil tempted Jesus to worship him, He answered, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him’” (verse 8) And when the devil tempted Jesus to jump off the temple in Jerusalem, Jesus said, “The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the Lord your God’” (verse 12) From this passage we see that Jesus felt the presence and pressure of temptation like we do, but He did not sin. Instead, He countered every temptation with a quote from Scripture. From the example of Jesus, we can know how to effectively resist temptation. We need to have the Scriptures stored in our minds and hearts so that when we’re tempted, we can deflect the devil’s blows. The psalmist wrote, “I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11) When we have memorized Scripture, when we have ingrained it in our memory banks, it’s there for us to use during times of temptation. During His temptation in the wilderness, Jesus did not use His incredible supernatural power. Rather, He met the devil with the written Word of God. He occupied ground that we can occupy as well.
some of the games shown here (e.g. Eternal Sonata or Odin Sphere) should finally get ports, e.g. to the Nintendo Switch. It's nice to see all the great video clips again. And all the sadder that nowadays you can no longer gamble if the older device or its eStore is no longer available.
Great list - not just the games, but the youtubers too! Still need to check out many of these games myself. Stella Glow is definitely a hidden gem worth playing. The European physical version is still somewhat affordable too as NISA reprinted it just before cart manufacturing ended.
This was a legit roster of hidden gem JRPGs. I was expecting to see a pretty expected roster of games but the majority of titles on here definitely hit as hidden gems to me too. Very rare to see anyone mention Zanki Zero!
Cliches can be fun if done right. Stella Glow may not have been breaking new ground, but it hooked me like a good anime would. Such good characters and just fun interactions and events throughout the whole game.
heard it mentionned basically in every "Underrated 3ds games" video, then played the demo and omg the writing 😢😂. The tactical side is good but if you're lookin for good characters/story its a skip to me
Thanks a bunch for inviting me to join in on this one Taylor! Hidden Gems always make up the games that resonate with me the most so spreading there awareness is always super cool
What a great group of creators and games! My favorite pick is Odin Sphere Leifdrasir, such a beautiful game and a massive upgrade over the original release!
Oh, Shadow Hearts is absolutely awesome. I love alternate history stuff. I started with the 2nd game, then went back to the first game. 2 is definitely one of my favorite games ever.
I really enjoyed Lost Dimension back when I played it! Eternal Sonata is also amazingly beautiful and tragic in its own way. Stella Glow I still play from time to time I love games that let you use a lot of party members and choose which ending you want, and also go back to before the last fight easily to choose that ending (quick save before the last hit on the final boss gotta love it) Also Odin Sphere is phenomenol I played both the original and the remake and remake fixes everything you would want it to but the story is beautiful, tragic, and kind of perfect. There aren’t many tragic stories that I enjoy, this is one of the few. Love those visuals
This video!! 😍 Yes David! Popolocrois is such a hidden gem and I think not enough people are talking about this amazing game on the PSP! It was the first console feeling JRPG with a lot of charm and beautiful art. I think this was my first RPG on the PSP after the disappointing Blade Dancer and I just couldn't stop playing it. Also love the Koudelka/Shadow Hearts series! I backed Pennyblood because my love of those games! And the amazing Eternal Sonata! I came to appreciate Classical music more because of that game, but also: that battle system!! 🔥🔥🔥 I just had to buy Cross Code physical for my Switch, what a love letter to games form the SNES era like Pocky and Rocky and Chrono Trigger!! Also I couldn't get into Odin Sphere on PS2, so this video made realize I should give it a chance on PS4/5 or maybe even my dust-gathering PSvita. Sakura Wars looks gorgeous and I should definitely try that one!
Lost Dimension really is a great game. I love the consequences that result from failing to properly identify one of the traitors, both in the moment and how it gets turned around on you at the end of the game. And the combination of different character's powers you end up using on different playthroughs adds a good amount of variety.
Out of these Odinsphere is my favorite, with Popolocrois coming second. However, MY favorite hidden gem would have to be ALUNDRA on PS1. With gameplay similar to the 2D legend of Zelda, fantastic art, awesome story, and hard as hell puzzles, it's a shame it's usually forgotten.
Zanki Zero is also one of the most rewarding games I ever played in this genre, there is no turn base and playing on the harder difficulties rewards you more, a game that gives you incentives to play on HARD is always a good thing. But I could never 100% because of the Shigabane mechanics...I mean completing all of them for every character is just too much.
Was so excited to see Shadow Hearts there. That game is just excellent and I would love to see a remake of it. Interesting story, great chatacter design and such an unique battle system!
Odin Sphere looks amazing. I’m sad it’s not on any modern consoles. But with the recent re-release of Grim Grimoire hopefully they’ll port this one too. And Sakura Wars is fantastic! Truly a hidden gem.
Dang! What a cool collab and a lot of different recommendations! I'm still in the middle of the large, unhidden gem in Octopath 2, but I definitely want to check out some of these after I beat it
@@TheGamingShelf It's fantastic! Oh man I really love them all, but I think Partitio is my favorite. So funny and wholesome, he gives me the "aw shucks" country dude vibes like Alfyn from the first game.
I was SO happy to finally see someone recognize Shadow Hearts :D I have all three in the series (Covenant was...Expensive), but I love the battle system and the characters
Fun little fact about Sakura Wars (Shin Sakura Wars) The illustrator behind the character designs is Tite Kubo, the author of bleach. They were really going all in with that game but unfortunately the reception was hella lukewarm… I’m just glad we got another entry consider that the last entry we got prior to that was SW4 (so long my love) back in 05 in Japan and 2010 internationally
DQ Builders 2 is actually a large game too which suprised me considering it wasn't a main line entry, it has loads of extras as well as a lengthy main story
Now this is a good idea. Getting to see other youtuber hidden gems and other stuff is great info for gamers. Hopefully you can get something like this again in the future. once in each 3 month maybe? lol
This list is FANTASTIC! (I own all but two of these games, so I guess I'm a bit biased.) Also, love the collaboration-style video, bringing in other content creators, introducing us to people we may or may not be aware of. At the end, you mention Tokyo Xanadu...if I had to pick a hidden gem, it would be that one. It's a super-fun game with great characters and story and heart, a bit like Persona in many ways. Anyway, nice way to start the weekend!
Loved that you had the guests go over their favorites, one that I would add is Cosmic Star Heroine. I really enjoyed getting the platinum for it and the dark story and pixel art was nice. I would totally recommend it and it isn't that long either.
broooo PSP star ocean second evolution!!!! The game was packed with so many things, legendary weapon and armor grinding, secret drops, hidden world bosses, tons of traits to master, superb story and characters and brooo so much more. You wouldn't want to finish the game because there's so much to do.
Great list, especially with CrossCode. My hidden gems would be Suikodens III, IV and V, Wild Arms 3, Guardian's Crusade, Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter and Vandal Hearts II.
@@chickenfillets I haven't finished it and I have to restart, but it was so much fun. I purchased it when it was early access; so I got to the end of the early access and I got back into and still loved it, but I didn't complete it. @@PS1Fan1991 you'll love the game! The cast of characters are brilliant, fantastic story and the combat is unbelievably good! Oh nice never heard that one! Will have to keep an eye out!!!
Impeccable choices. Especially happy to see Shadow Hearts, Stella Glow and Lost Dimension mentioned. When it comes to personal favourites, 7th Dragon III Code: VFD on 3DS would have to be my number one choice.
Stella Glow represent! Really glad that game was mentioned, easily one of my favorite on the 3DS and I played it multiple times, at one time I even tried to 100% it (Failed cause I forgot a mission objective).
The way I audibly gasped seeing Lost Dimension and Eternal Sonata on this list make me so happy :D Definitely going to find a way to try out all of these but those two games are literally my top 3 favourite games of all time.
A hidden gem I would add is The Technomancer. Futuristic setting on Mars I believe. It's not a AAA title, so lacks some polish and graphics aren't amazing by any stretch but the gameplay, story, and way you could form your character so many different ways was outstanding. Doubt it costs much now, so worth trying. I know it's on PS4 but not sure what other systems.
I am impressed. Jealous of Emily with Estelle, Rean and Lloyd in background. This is a reveal. Popolocrois, Shadow Hearts 1 -3, Eternal SOnata, Stella Glow
I love Lost Dimension. Good call. The Steam port is excellent, with full controller support and low system requirements. Pick it up on sale and get all the DLC as well.
Shoutout to Kraftiums pick. SG is also on (final) sale right now on the EU 3DS eshop. Too bad the devs went under. I would have liked a LA3 port and future games in that franchise as well…
Fun vid to watch and an interesting list of games. I'd say a good hidden gem is Crystal Project, which I played on PC. I love the non linear style and exploration.
Here are a few that I think are hidden gems. Legend of Legaia Lunars 1 & 2 for psx Ar tonelico 1-3 The dot hack series Great vid and I enjoyed seeing the selection of hidden gems!
For me the most underrated, yet greatest, JRPG was Legends of Dragoon from Sony. The game sold almost 2 million copies, yet so many haven’t played or even heard of it. Granted, this was the era of Final Fantasy simply owning the genre (VII still cast a long shadow, and VIII was being well received even if it wasn’t quiet up to VII). Still hoping for the remake.
I absolutely loved Sakura Wars. Every character was likeable in their own unique way. Sure there's a lot of anime tropes, but it was all very entertaining and wholesome. It wasn't an amazing game by any stretch, but it was definitely a solid fun game.
Zanki Zero is on my list. I really got to play Lost Dimension, I bought it on PS3 hi on the Valkyria chronicle fever but haven't yet tried it. Shadow heart is awesome, second one is the better of the two but you have to play the first one before. Can't wait to try Dragon Quest Builder 2 but I'm sad, I bought it for its coop option but I didn't know that there wasn't couch coop 😭 Eternal Sonata is awesome, the battle music and the visuals are memorable. I think that the story falls a bit flat at the end but other than that it's definitively an hidden gem. If Stella Glow is as interesting as Luminous Arc I can't wait to try it. Sakura Wars is looking at me from the shelf 😅 but I got to play Tales of Berseria before ! As always Taylor, great video !
The first couple were also visual novels so I was afraid they all would be. My favorite on this list is Odin Sphere, but one interesting fact was not shared: Leifthrasir also includes the original PS2 version. I love both, but yes I did get frustrated by the stamina system in the original. The story was just that epic. My hidden gem would be Dragon's Crown, also from Vanillaware. Kamitani worked on the Capcom Dungeons and Dragons arcade games and from my understanding, that's what inspired Dragon's Crown. Honorable mention to Hexyz Force.

Zenki Zero is such a good game. Also if you like Zenki I would recommend, Labyrinth of Refrain and Labyrinth of Galleria
I am impressed. Jealous of Emily with Estelle, Rean and Lloyd in background. This is a reveal. Popolocrois, Shadow Hearts 1 -3, Eternal SOnata, Stella Glow
Sakura Wars was on sale on PS store and I picked it up a few days ago, game looks like it'll be fun!
Hell yeah! I hope you enjoy it! 🌸
Combat looks so sweet.
8:56 Stella Glow, featuring Rean Schwarzer from The Legend of Heroes Series, jk.
I need to pick up code cross at some point when I get around to it.
Playing dragon quest builders 2 now myself and loving it
I love Lost Dimension. Good call. The Steam port is excellent, with full controller support and low system requirements. Pick it up on sale and get all the DLC as well.
Shoutout to Kraftiums pick. SG is also on (final) sale right now on the EU 3DS eshop. Too bad the devs went under. I would have liked a LA3 port and future games in that franchise as well…
Shadow hearts set the standard for me back in the day sheer brilliance
Eternal Sonata, is such a timeless game, I really don't know why nobody talks about it!
Fun vid to watch and an interesting list of games.
I'd say a good hidden gem is Crystal Project, which I played on PC. I love the non linear style and exploration.
Love Crystal Project! Such a cool game by 1 dude.
Here are a few that I think are hidden gems.
Legend of Legaia
Lunars 1 & 2 for psx
Ar tonelico 1-3
The dot hack series
Great vid and I enjoyed seeing the selection of hidden gems!
The lads talking about Shadow Hearts, Crosscode and Sakura Wars are the only ones that knows about JRPG on this video. Cheers chaps!
Lost dimensions is def in my top 10 rpgs, it's awesome to see it get some love
Always love a Stella Glow shout out!
🤩
Really enjoyed the list. My hidden gem is Rogue Galaxy for the PS2.
Great choice!
CROSSCOOOOOOODE
I got hyped the moment I heard the soundtrack.
Gotta love Crosscode!
I love collab videos like this!
It was fun to have everyone together! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
1. To put a Dragon Quest game in a hidden gem list is... questionable, at least.
2. 8:56: REAN?!
I JUST noticed this lol
I'm so glad this slipped by taylor hehehehe
Zanki Zero is on my list.
I really got to play Lost Dimension, I bought it on PS3 hi on the Valkyria chronicle fever but haven't yet tried it.
Shadow heart is awesome, second one is the better of the two but you have to play the first one before.
Can't wait to try Dragon Quest Builder 2 but I'm sad, I bought it for its coop option but I didn't know that there wasn't couch coop 😭
Eternal Sonata is awesome, the battle music and the visuals are memorable.
Haha well at least you know you have awesome games waiting for you ;)
@@TheGamingShelf The backlog is real brother 😅
The first couple were also visual novels so I was afraid they all would be.
My favorite on this list is Odin Sphere, but one interesting fact was not shared: Leifthrasir also includes the original PS2 version. I love both, but yes I did get frustrated by the stamina system in the original. The story was just that epic.
My hidden gem would be Dragon's Crown, also from Vanillaware. Kamitani worked on the Capcom Dungeons and Dragons arcade games and from my understanding, that's what inspired Dragon's Crown.
Honorable mention to Hexyz Force.
I'm sad no one mentioned Skies of Arcadia, i really want that to be remade. It's what got me into JRPGS and Steampunk...
Whoever mentioned stella glow is my personal hero
