Unfortunately, had to give up this idea because Apple killed a solution to hide notifications pop up from shortcuts, but I believe, that one day you will find one.

Thanks so much. :) Yes they the old solution I shared doesn’t work as well now - but I believe there are new work around a that are almost as good, particularly if your phone has dynamic island. I will aim to get it locked in and make a video soon. :)
@@BetterCreating Clearly talking, trying my best to keep my iPhone XS with me and do not upgrade to a new one. For a 3 years I have had a hope that they will get rid of the notch and hide everything under the screen (I know it might sound silly, but I’ve had a trust in their engineer team, thought that one day they will make some work around to “notch-problem”)
Dynamic island is some kind of work around and upgrade compare to older models, and I think my dream won’t come true yet, because they will keep pushing this new technology of Dynamic Island for a couple of years in their devices. So I consider to purchase 14 Pro.
That would be cool if you find a time and inspiration to make a little review of new IPhone as you did with a MacBook Pro if I’m not mistaken. Gonna wait for a new vids, have a great day!

I appreciate the minimalistic design but for the price i really hoped that more icons were included. Example: There is just one icon for stocks, imagine if someone has 3 different stock accounts and 1 for crypto, would be great to modify them a bit or maybe put a small number to indicate which one is what. Also would be great if there was icons for apps that people use as hobbies for example movies (Cinema), Clothing app, Sports etc.

I’ve got a quick question when it comes to the shortcut icons. I try to use custom icons every so often but they always seem to scale and stretch whatever image I use and even if I change sizes and crop the image it still does it so I don’t know if you know how you’d fix it but it would be useful to know.

Hi. Great video! I am coming from the app Minimalist phone on my android, to iPhone .. this is a great alternative for iOS. One thing: How would you solve making the icon for the apps you have not made icons for, look just as good and similar to the ones you have made?
Thanks! Well we’ve tried to make general use ones we think can stand in - some people use the gradient versions with a shortcut colour behind to distinguish. But please drop me an email with suggestions of more apps you’d like to see - I’m hoping we can do an extension pack soon too! :)
When I get to the "Open App" step I get no search result and can't figure out how to proceed. Not sure what's wrong. Maybe it's because I recently upgraded to the iOS 17 beta?
Can you make video like this for the iPad? I know this can be done on the iPad but the steps are not the same. Great work though!

I'm in the edit window and I'm trying to add my own Notion URL(so the link goes to my Notion), but I can't find where to input the URL? I've pressed every button and I can't find where... Custom Actions, Apple Apps, Third-Party Apps and RSS Are located??!! Can you please help me!! Thank you, Lou :)
Ah yeah - it’s a little tricky right - you need to add or find the button / touch element that lays over the icon on the widget and then edit that elements and select what it connects to - hope that helps? Otherwise - ask Widgy directly. :)
My dock doesn't disappear. I'm on iOS 17 and there's no action set appearance in the automation. Any help welcome
Hi, just purchased the pack, and i was just wondering now with these new added shortcuts for the app replacements do you not get the little notifications up in the corner of the app to say for example 1 message or 2 instagram notifications?
Ah - thank you for downloading. Yes - this has always been the case with iOS bookmarks for icons. There are various solutions to blocking the pop up - but the latest iOS updates seem to mean many don’t work anymore. If you have an iPhone / device with dynamic island there is a new way to do it I believe. But at present - I need to do some research to find a solution :)

Thanks for downloading! :) You can use one of the small ones - there are several versions that are small or medium. Start with those and if you want you could edit within those templates. All the widgets fit to apple standard sizes.
I love the setup. I bought your packs but how do I change the widget to a white background with black icons? It comes in a black background with white icons. How do I set the clock to show the current time on the widget?
I got the color widget. I had the dark mode on my settings that's why it wasn't showing white. but I do need to know how to set up the clock because it's not sync to my destination

Is there a way to use your dark icons on your complete dark wallpaper in the dock? Because I want to have the android like look where the icons don't look like they are in the square like the stock ios icons.
Yes: easy to do: but not in the dock. I do it but not putting anything on the bottom dock, and it will all look like there is not a square around it on a black background. :)
Hey Simon. I downloaded your icon pack. Works great. Only problem is the widgets, I’m not able to switch them out of Dark Mode in the widget app. I click the little mobile phone and then change it to dark mode. It changes, but then instantly changes back every time. Not sure why,. Can you point me in the right direction
Thanks Chris - that's great! Ah yeah - it can be tricky i think. Double check you the settings in the Widgy app - you might just need to change the widget colour there for the dark mode (i.e. pick the right widget for each mode in the widget design app... does that help?)

Yeah I feel you! As I mention on the downloads page - recently my solution stopped working. There are a few work arounds out there - notably with dynamic island - check Sam Beckman’s videos - he might still have one that solves it. :) I’m looking into this too now ipad and iOS 17 are fully out.
I'd love your icon style on my android phone but even if you had an android, there are icon packs with 000s of icons for free-£2.99 that look really good too
Yes I understand - we looked at pricing and what is offered and believe that there are very few that offer this coherent design and options for customisation with colour across Icons, widgets, covers and Notion specifics. A good comparison point for us is the much loved Mac Stories shortcuts at $20 - and I believe we are offering further options and customisation. Thanks for the feedback. :)
I've purchased the $25 pack with the notion and I'm not able to launch any widget by widgy. Do I have to purchase widgy as well?
Ah yes - just download the widgy widget app for free as mentioned and you are good to go. :)

How do you stop the Shortcuts notifaction banner from popping up every time you select one of the custom icons. I looked around in the notification settings and online, and I am not seeing a solution. If this pop up cant be turned off, unfortunately custom icons are not an option for me
Yes - agree - the existing solutions we have all been using recently stopped working since some new Apple updates - people have found new ones - but it is something to research if it will bother you. I’ll be looking into the more again when iOS17 is released shortly :)
Wait there is an app called Photo Widgets the app can create app icons that are custom and choose the apps you want to set to custom and instead of making shortcuts choose a profile
it’s definitely annoying but if you have the 14 pro or PM, it’s more tolerable as the notification merges with the dynamic island instead of dropping down. so instead of a drop down, you just get a check in the dynamic island.

I've bought your Icons pack but have a problem here. When I try to place the widget on my iPhone, it always displays in dark mode. I have also observed that I can change it to light mode within the widget settings, but it reverts back to dark mode when I place it in the widget slots. Yes - it’s a set of icons and covers - so you just upload whichever you want not the shortcuts you set up. Make sure you are clear on the process involved in customising - doing icons on iOS/iPadOS involves a bit of time and effort, but I found it fun and loved the results! :)
I am always amazed by the creative potential of the human brain. IMHO i don't believe that a complete overhaul of appearance is actually required or worth actually spending so much time on finalizing this. Some ideas in this video have merit though.

Sorry to hear that - it’s long been the case that adding icons to an iOS / apple device is done like this. I’ve just added lots of options for people to do in this - but the simple version: just add icons and a cover!

Yes it’s annoying - some of the old / existing methods of blocking the pop ups have stopped working recently with new iOS updates. We’ll all need to research new solutions. :) Personally - it annoyed me for a week and now I don’t notice them. :)

Whilst you can get many icon packs for $5 or $10 - We believe we are offing something more & great value for the design and thought out into these - purchasers are feeding the same back to us. I downloaded Design Pack onto iPhone SE IOS16.5, but having trouble because "choose Icon" does not appear.
Thanks for downloading! You should be able to find it by adding the shortcut and then selecting the little down arrow in the E shortcut menu next to the title at the very top…? Still working for me. :)
Is there a way to get notification badged with new icons still?
Blocking the notifications seems to work to some extent on iOS16 with a new method - but only really for people with the dynamic island I believe - sadly my old method stopped working: so it’s definitely something people should look into solving for themselves if that notification pop up is going to be an issue for them. Urg! :)

I just bought the lifeos bundle a couple of days ago and was following this video to use the custom icons, is there a newer version out there or is this the latest one? Also, I do have the dynamic island on my phone but not sure how that influences the notification badges for the apps. (By badges I mean the number that shows on the corner of the app icon when you have a pending notification)
I don't think you need the automations for light and dark mode anymore. When creating the custom focus modes, there's an option to add a "Focus Filter" where you can already set the appearance for that mode as well.

I may be doing something wrong too, but the Clear Gradient icons are not picking up the chosen icon color. I'm using the correct icons as I've tried this several times. I'm running iOS 17.4.1 so maybe that has something to do with it. The shortcut interface on my phone is completely different than what is shown in the video.
Having the same issue. iPhone 13 Pro Max, iOS 17.4.1. I tried both gradient types. I see the gradient, but the color does not show through. Also, the shortcut interface is different than the video. Otherwise, great set of icons!

Hi how do you delete the dock back screen of the iPhone ?
You have to match the colour on a wallpaper so it seems deleted. In my pack i have light and dark mode packs that grade down to match the light and dark dock colours. :)

Yes of course, they need to be there to open them! They are just in the App Library, not on your homescreen. :)

HI, just bough the pack particularly for the transparent icons with the colour edge, but can't get the shortcut colours coming through, it's just grey now, what am I not doing correctly?
I think you have picked the wrong folder: you need the transparent folder for gradients not the black and white options: and then you need to select the colour of the shortcut to show through… definitely in the pack and working! :) thanks for downloading :)
@@BetterCreating I think this no longer works, I've just tried adding some more icons and I can't get them to pick up the clear background colour through the clear gradient, other people have commented similar above, Apple have either decided this was a bug and fixed it or it now is a bug they've created
How in the world can I make Scribble write Capital letters? Writing the capital letter clearly (even with obviously different uppercase and lowercase like G and g, A and a), making it obviously larger than the other letters, making a pause for the capital letter, ..... none works well!
I really love the look of it. But now I don‘t get any notifications anymore. Not even the phone is ringing if the app was removed from homescreen. That’s a problem. The shortcuts don’t show the number of new messages, etc… looks great but isn‘t useful 😢
Hi! That’s very strange your phone isn’t ringing?! - that doesn’t happen for me… hummm. However - yes - you won’t have the notification counter on apps with custom icons and that is why I like them: for me the idea is that they take away that distraction - so you can be more intentional about actively checking apps and messages. Also- make sure you only remove from Home Screen not delete the app.
@@BetterCreating hmm, I‘ll check for other reasons why the phone ain‘t ringing. For the moment, I solved it by putting the phone app on the second page.

This all looks painfully complicated. I love my iPad, but I’ll never get an iPhone. My Galaxy Note 23Ultra provides an insane level of customization without all of this work.
Haha! Yep - Apple is not designed for this! But once done it’s good. A true advantage of android!
I also have a samsung and much prefer the fluidity in customization, however, the difficulty here means you get that much more clout for having a customized iPhone :)
Exactly what I already miss about Galaxy. Just got my 1st iPhone. Love it except for what it takes to personalize icons & widgets.
And all of these packs are missing 3rd party apps I use. Looks like I'll have to learn to appreciate the default icons & widgets.

Make sure you have the widgy widget set up correctly with dark and light mode options in the widgy widget settings / design you are using. :)
Please share the light & dark wallpaper.
They were made with the graphic designer I worked with on my the icon and covers pack - so currently they are part of that pack as they are his work, and I want to ensure he get’s paid for his work by those who are comfortable to purchase the pack / can afford it. But if you want to find / create similar - checkout UnSplash and search for some abstract paper images :)

yeah - I've shared a number of workarounds in the past but they. stopped working with updates - currently looking for the new one!

Do you need to pay for all of it?
I’m selling the icons / covers / widgets as a pack for iOS or iOS and Notion yes, the rest is spending the time doing the process or customising ! But, if you don’t want to purchase: I recommend using sites like icon finder to find other icons to do this with: they won’t necessarily be as cohesive, but similar effect. :)

Yes, that’s correct - it is my paid product for $20-$24. If you don’t fancy paying for icons, or this is too expensive now worries. Hope the tutorial is still useful. I also share links to a few good free packs in older videos. I also recommend icon finder for free options, but they won’t be designed as a pack. Cheers. :)

@BetterCreating no it’s not the same thing I followed step by step and you cannot do the same for an iPad . Wish you wouldn’t showed us step by step with iPad or make a video the same way you made the video with the iPhone .
@@brandonaguilar7841 Sorry you feel that wau - the process is from my experience the same using shortcuts to add icons. Wallpapers are also set up in the standard way. The only difference is that the dark and light mode options that aren't available on ipad, as I explain in the video intro and body. Thanks however for the feedback - I'll make an ipad video in the future. :)

This isn’t for you clearly. It has long been the case that adding icons to an iOS / apple device is done like this. Maybe don’t do it if it’s a stress! It’s just a bit of fun really! Maybe just do the simple version: add icons and a cover. Otherwise - maybe android is better for you if you want to customise. :)

These are great icons! But I need to stop watching these customization vids. No one is going to cover all 3rd party apps. Too much work to still have a handful of icons that don't match the theme.

Ah thanks. Sure that can be a thing, we are working on an extension pack but also trying to create unbiqutous designs that can be applied to apps based on use case too - been an interesting one to balance! Cheers :)
