  • Posting something very hard to find and hear here in Europe. David delivers what I hear to be a stunningly accurate 'Judy Garland' style interpretation in the melancholic 'City Show'. The trumpet tag follows over into 'Dagger', a seduction/jealousy song that closes up Side one of this remarkable Jazz/Pop fusion disc.
    Lyrics: City Show
Streetmen and ladies giving their all
    Police to lead the way
I've got this feeling I'm going to fall
It's been a long and bluesy day...
Starry eyed actor stops for a cup
    Scarfed and full of gray
His baby's happy, but baby, so what?!
It's been a long and bluesy day
40 odd years ago, whan yet to be here for the city show,
    It was everything.
    Everything everything's upside down,
When are things going to turn aroud?
    What makes it so?
Chzstnuts and roses warming the cold
    Such an eternal play
Stuck in the chorus, I'm feeling so old
    Give the man a nickel
and send him on his way
    Bluesy day...bluesy day...
    Bluesy day....
Featuring guest riffs from jazz legends Chick Corea, Jan Hammer, Billy Cobham, Dave Spinnoza , Jay Leonhart, Joe Farrell, Andy Brecker, and Airto.
This is a fantastic listen cover to cover. I'm sorry for the poor quality.
