Your video is by far the best and most informative I have seen. It made me even more impatient waiting for my RS4 to be delivered in a couple of weeks👍
I watched this video over and over (but that's because it takes me a long time to process stuff!) and I'm now confident enough to take my gimbal out with me on a shoot this weekend - thank you SO much for making it simple.
@writedirect As people have said, your videos are much more intuitive than the official ones. Now, if you have something on attatching the focus motor to a Nikon Z6ii, you would have a friend for life..!
Thank you for a very helpful to my setting up the DJI Ronin RS4 Pro. I have never used a gimbal on my professional cameras and your instruction was spot on for what I needed to get up to speed as a novice gimbal user. I am looking forward to your more advanced videos. Right on man! Thanks for your kind words. I think the next video I'll do will be on the LiDAR setup which gives you controlled auto focus with manual lenses!
Thanks! I don’t have that camera, but I think there’s something in the camera menu on the Sony that you have to turn on to enable remote control. After that plug it into the USB port on the Ronin RS4 and see if you can map the dial. I don’t have the camera so I’m just not sure.
I know man! But I sold my two pocket 4Ks and bought the cinema camera 6K. But I do show a rigged out pocket 4K on the RS3 pro on another video on my channel so you can check that out if you want.
Makes no difference in context to the process. So why does it matter? Balancing 1kg or 600grams same approach , some people need to complain about things that have no relevance!
Hello i used your video to balance my RS4 . So when "Balance Icon " is Green everything is ok? I saw in the shop a DEMO that RS4 doing some gymnastic and move non stop at different angles. how i do it and its used for what? Thanks
Green is good. I think the mode you’re after is gimbal auto check. That’s in the settings menu and it will move it all over the place testing your balance and gimbal in a detailed way.
This is awesome, thank you. Quick question, I've the RS4 and I'd like to do some content for my Social Media, but, the gimbal won't follow me if I move slightly out of frame. Is there a way for the gimbal to be framed up so I can stay a few meters away from the Gimbal ie it's on stand and it can follow me from left or right or up and down? Thank you
@@writedirect Amazing, thank you. I think I'm missing something about Active Track, do you have a video showcasing it more? I thought I needed to buy the Lidar for Active Track to work? But, it looks like with the RS4 (if I'm reading correctly), that I need just the Raven Eye? Sorry if this is a basic but having a gimbal that can follow me would be incredible. Thank you for your time.
@@geoffwilkingsphotography you don’t need LiDAR for active track like you’re talking. LiDAR will pull focus for you so that’s very nice (with manual lenses). I haven’t done a video on either of those. I’ll put that on the to do list.
14:48 incorrect. If the arm is extended and could not be closed completely, but in settings you set "fully close"the system will try to close softly, if there is no room to close it will go back and close with a gap. DJI thought about that and done self check process.
This varies from camera to camera. But they all typically have a play button where you can look at your footage. You won’t be able to control that from the gimbal typically. At least I don’t think so.
Thank you so much for your tutorial. Can you please help me to understand about settings on turn off you are talking at 14:45. From the factory my Ronin RS4 Pro was trying to completely fold on turn off with my heavy Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K and the roll arm smashed the lower arm. This happened 2-3 times. Only after that I discovered this setting. You clearly state 'if this hits this arm you gonna damage your gimbal'. Can you please confirm that my gimbal is already damaged because of what happened and should I send it back to DJI? I am really worried now.
Hey man...So I'm only going off what DJI said which was that damage could occur if that happened. The default setting should have been the partial fold--At least I thought that's how mine was at default. Not the complete fold up. Sorry. Ugh, I know the feeling.
Hi. Have you any time used a Canon 5d MIV with RS4? I can't put it working. For some reason, it docent record or allow to change ISO, aperture or shutter. With a R6 MII is very easy. Thanks.
Hey man! Thank you. I never use selfie mode and have it disabled. But hitting the main trigger three times puts you in selfie mode so I'm guessing that will take you out. If it doesn't, hit the trigger twice as that tells the gimbal to recenter.
I have noticed in other videos that you have a Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K. Have you tried mounting it on this Roning RS4 Pro and connecting the control cable? For some reason the recording button on the Roning handle does not work. Does it work for you?
Hey, I apologize for the delay. I never use that record button for whatever reason and haven't tested. Was waiting to reply until I had time to test, but have the camera on sticks right now and in position for another shoot. Will try to circle back to this.
You might have to buy a multi camera control cable separately. I don’t use one of those as I’m not messing with camera control. I’m just using a focus motor and that’s it. DGI sells them for like 20 bucks.
when i'm PTF i notice the lens tilts upward. This is annoying because i have to keep hitting the trigger to recenter. Is this me or just the gimbal in PTF?
I haven’t run into this. But I’m out of town right now and I can’t test. I would go into settings and do the more advanced calibration test. Make sure everything is squared away in that respect and see if it helps.

Thanks for your support! If you watched both videos, you know what to do. So two things: 1) You might want to counter balance the back. Or position anything on your camera cage to push weight to the back. And worst case scenario, you can shoot and get decent shots without a perfect balance. I did that plenty of times on my last film. it won’t work for fancy gimbal moves. But for simple tracking, dolly in and out, stuff like that, it’ll do it.
