It’s fitting that in this video about family the first person to comment was my son. I introduced him to your channel a few months back and when this dropped he immediately sent me the link. On our way home he saw that you had liked his comment and the grin on his face was priceless. Thanks for the memory DT. We’ll keep bonding over your channel for as long as you keep the videos coming.
I recently had to wrangle the centre stand spring back on my bicycle. It's held on by a bolt that goes through the front forks and shares it with the basket mount. It was nigh on impossible. When I finally managed to get it back on after a lot of sweating and straining I realised I forgot to replace the basket mount and had to do it all over again. Watching you fight with the spring on your press was exactly the therapy I needed to recover. Thank you.
I repaired the press frame of one of these for a friend. If you take that drill out of the frame and use it freehand, it will absolutely kill you. There is so much torque it will throw you all over the garage. Completely awesome.
there's a video on TH-cam of some jewelers making a massive cuban link chain, and they use one of those, with a super-slow gear reduction to twist two gold bars together, and it absolutely looked like they're wrangling with death every moment they've been using it
I have a similar one. I made a paddle type bit a few feet long to make holes in the ground to feed tree roots. There was no stalling that motor! Just had to make sure it didn't get in a position that you couldn't release the trigger.
When I was that kid's age they made me use a drill like that to drill through wall studs for electrical wires. So yeah no drill stand. It was called a Mall drill. Looked a lot like that B&D though.
Really good content! great restoration! man i love the old school tools, and other things from the good old times, btw i hope you have a great buddy to clear your search history!
Man the visual gags are so fucking subtle in your videos, I bet most people miss like 90% of them, myself included. I barely caught the one at 18:00 and i nearly splittake over it
I kinda think you would need 2 and one with the patina and put them side by side - surprisingly one of the most wholesome videos I´ve watch in a long time!
Great channel. Keep up the good work! Question about your vise. Was it built by Reed Mfg. Co. out of Erie, PA? I ask because I have one that’s very similar, although mine appears to be a tad smaller. Mine has “No 404” cast into the side.
I've used thread, grease, candle wax and other methods of holding difficult bits in place for assembly and just remove melt or burn out once together! Just remember what the end goal is , doesn't matter how you get there!
I got a Bessler Photographic Enlarger (or rather... will have? it's complicated it's not on my property yet but it will be) that appears to use a rather similar switch design.
I am currently repairing a similar drill to this, and I broke the part pictured in your hands at 8:15 while disassembling it. I have been trying to recreate that part since, and was wondering if you might be able to provide some measurements or some sort of help since you have the same exact part, but whole. If you can't or don't feel like going through the motions of disassembling the whole thing again, that's alright as well. This would be very helpful for me.
@@thedoubtfultechnician8067 Thank you very much for responding (which I wasn't sure you were going to do in the first place). If you are able to email me the information, you can use the email I have for “business inquiries.” I'm not exactly sure what type of measurements you want to do on it, but I was mostly wondering the size of the main hole on it. You could also take a high quality image of the part itself, which could be helpful.
for the spring, you could've compressed it before the zip ties by putting it on the shaft first, then the entire slide mechanism on top. tighten the ties, and wala. if you promise never to play electroswing again, i promise to never point out easier ways you should've done stuff :-)
Im glad im not the only man who digs Moana. BTW curious, are you voice overing or is this live commentary while you're working. Not a trick question just curious. Glad i found the channel. You're going some where kid! (not sure where you crazy F**k but you're going there)
Your doing the Chinese finger cuff thing with the strain relief! Put the stem or shaft end of the cord in the vise and pull and twist on the under side of the dingus I mean strain relief! Your married, I know you got that routine down to a T! 😂
Black and Decker, Craftsman, Porter Cable. Just a few of the brands that were once top quality, but went down the toilet. Each of them now part of Stanley B&D.
You're telling me you don't have any use for a Daisy model 25 air rifle ? That's complete BS, everybody has aluminum cans laying around that need more holes in them and spare time better spent plinking in the backyard instead of sitting in front of a screen.
@@Nicotinebeige222 This was a fairly old example and many people will tell you that the older original model 25's were far better, but Daisy reintroduced the model 25 around 2012 and in my opinion the current model 25's are great. I have two and love them both. Daisy currently has the model 25 kit on sale on their website with the red shatter burst clay disk targets and some BB's for $55 and that's quite a deal.
@@TylerSnyder305 Yeah I noticed the one he has looks to be quite the old example, none of the vintage ones I saw on ebay had wood stocks. Its nice to know that Daisy still makes a very cheap air rifle thats actually good, I'll have to pick one up at some point, and see if I can't luck out on a vintage example to compare them.
@@Nicotinebeige222 I believe it was mid 50's or so through mid 70's for the plastic stocks before the 25 was originally discontinued. If I'm not mistaken the no.25 was introduced in about 1912 or so, but that was long before daisy created the standard 4.5mm steel bb. There's a less common late example with a different stock made from a regular ABS, but most of the plastic stocks were made from some stuff that's prone to warping with age. The modern gun has a safety and a much stiffer trigger pull, bit it's not unusable at all. Accuracy is decent, power is lower than the originals but still perfectly fine, and overalll Fit & finish is good.
WIFI ground is my favourite feature on any of my "MADE IN CHINA" tools, truly marvel of engineering.

As a jazz musician, I am so stealing “hit it, benny!”
I read this comment right as he said that…
Watching you share with your son was definitely a highlight!
The ending with your adorable son was beautiful!
I still don't get it how you aren't much more popular. Your videos are amazing
This has quickly become the channel I look forward to most for the next upload. Always entertaining! Great work my man.

What a cross between AVE, This Old Tony and Handtool Rescue. Keep up the good work!
Your great grandfather's drill was in better condition than my great grandfather's drill. Still a lot of fun to restore to function.

I just want to say Uncle Bill looked fun to hang with 😂❤ sorry for your loss.
The cut to you AGGRESSIVELY stroking the shaft after that comment had me CRYING 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a very similar drill press. Its absolutely covered in probably a dozen different carcinogens but it just works great.
I have one of these, got it from a 90 y.o woodworker. Great guy
Blue, brown, green/yellow, European standard colored cord on a vintage USA made drill press?? How could you?!?!?
Love the vids keep em coming!
Hello from Northeastern PA! I love your content man!
You have made a channel where I come back to to watch videos that I just watched again because they are that good
Reminds me of old pocket83 mixed with the old AVE
I don't know what I'm more impressed by: how easy it is to disassemble this piece of 90yo engineering... or how well preserved it is.
King Kai would have been proud of your technique sir.
Man, honestly, best channel out there.
I got sick and I’ve been binging all your videos while laying in bed feeling sorry for myself. They’re great.
I never once asked my parents for help with things because i knew i cant ask for help from them, its really nice to see that in this video
1:54 ... I felt that in every bad joint in my body, which is most of them.
Gotta love those old wrist breaker drills.
I kind of love seeing you struggling... The cable peel was nice
every time i see a video of yours pop up in my feed my day is made thank you the doubtful technician
I love how your videos are both cozy and educational. Seriously, great shit. I look forward to each upload, and I really hope you don't stop.
Love the channel, man. Releatable, interesting AND wholesome. Thanks
My grandfather had one that was very similar to this. However it was a Lightburn press and drill made in Australia.
Your just a natural at this stuff. The video commentary is unbeatable.
Also your interest in weird cool old stuff makes me feel less insane.
Another day of work for me and another masterpiece from you

the end of this video got me. so wholesome
Booty swing immediately recognized, goated choice
the way i cheered when the mallet came in to finish the job!

Holy crap, I inherited that same bench grinder. You should do a vijeo on that bad mama jama
Looking forward to more videos!

love the touch with the phalice and balls drill bit hahaha

The rotor is balanced. Instead of removing weight, they added some with those pieces of metal between the laminated segments.
That old timey music in the beginning of the video made me think I was on a dank pods garbage time video.
25:58 i completely agree. Also love that song
Congrats on your 100th video!
I have no qualms about admitting to liking Moana. Some real catchy tunes in that movie

Extra thumbs up for Booty Swing
Having that lovely vibrating, unbolted bench grinder You could drop in buffing wheel and polishing would go much faster and with casualties of course
Thank you, doubtful technician

Seeing the drill being driven by the other drill from the front is somehow quite surreal...
Oh it is grounded.... through you.

good video, I really enjoyed

"Oh, George, not the livestock!"
FUCKIN SAME on that grinder toss LMFAO
So cute❤
The ole dew claw
I've had good luck refreshing old rubber parts with drug store Glycerin, e.g., your strain relief.
I enjoy these videos and now that we are sure you’re not a pervert I got to subscribe…
5:42 Chris Chan moment
That last search 💀💀💀
love the videos
what was the white car with the jersey plates doing out of the left lane? not sure i've seen that before
I bought a stand and integrated a spare drill. Unfortunately I didnt have the foresight to utilize one with variae speed.
Wait. What was that car crash lol
Also your bench grinder looks like a Keurig if keurigs existed in the 80s
as someone with a jersey drivers license, hi
