@@jakehollingworth4226 Once I added Lanamon to the deck, I just kind of had this lightbulb moment. "Oh! I can give sec +1 to this hybrid with jamming... That gives you lethal soooo much quicker."
Does the extra memory worth of cost make Offensive Plug less appealing than Joust? I do like that it searches a tamer and adds to hand off security and you can add in an extra analog instead of Tai? Just curious about the choice! Totally testing this later!
It was a pretty close decision between the two. I hate when an option card's only security effect is "add this to your hand," and sadly, that's the case with Lightning Joust. That said, Lightning Joust is live earlier, more often than Offensive Plug-In would be. Usually, with Matt or Davis, or maybe a Hammer Spark in hand, you can reach the three memory you need to go Lanamon-Joust. But stretching to four memory is harder unless you get lucky in security and stick multiple Matts, or the dual tamer. I just valued being able to put the opponent in lethal range earlier versus having the security effect, or having to play around weird security counts. Late game though, if you get there, or have a few tamers on board, the Plug-In is definitely better. So it really comes down to what you value, and if decks in your meta give you the extra turn or two needed to start gaining that extra memory.
Just realized I missed half your question! I usually bring more casual stuff like this as a side deck between rounds at locals, or I just run Discord matches with a few testing partners.
If it's searching for AncientGar and we're already playing this many Tamers, Blue Memory Boost is sure an option, and I do know deck space is scarce but why not consider Bokomons ? Although I get that they usually get easily removed so you don't often get to claim their 2 Memory value when digivolving on a Tamer, their Search is unrivaled, opening 5 cards netting you both a Tamer AND potentially an AncientGar (cause it has 10 Ancient Warriors in its traits) and they instantly gotta prioritize dealing with it or you get a free Hybrid Digivolution and swing.
Bokomon is great, but I find that outside of Red Hybrid now, you have to run so many non-hybrid cards that it gets diminishing value. For example, it only has six targets for its memory gain effect, and most of the time, Calmaramon only evos on Lanamon, not a tamer. Plus, you bottom deck GabuBond and your rookies, which can be back breaking. In earlier GabuBond builds, especially those playing heavily into the Tommy Hybrids, I'd say Bokomon has much more value then. It's just not worth the odd search where it adds the Ancient line. Blue Memory boost does that, but can also snag me a rookie or Bond as needed. The extra flexibility made the difference in this case.
@@kevinski-tcg I see, Flexibility is definitely a very important factor, since we're not running Hybrid lvl.3s in this. Btw Calmaramon *can* digivolve on a Tamer, even though it costs 3 and in most cases isn't the play.
@@CloudStrife0896 Yeah, the option is there to digivolve Calmaramon on a tamer, but at three cost, it's already rough, plus, if you evo straight over the tamer, you have nothing in sources to play out on the swing. Sadly, they balanced her a bit too much. If she cost two on a tamer, I would have to reconsider Bokomon since then at least it's a free evo. I'd also say that Bokomon is good in GabuBond lists that run 2-4 of the old searcher Strabi.
I did try BT4 Strabimon in an earlier version of the build, back when I was also running a 4-4 split of Lanamon and Calmaramon. Had to cut "Drawbumon" down to 2 to accomodate the Strabimon at the time. Sometimes it was helpful, especially to grab promo Lobomon and Matt, but I got so annoyed every time in bottom decked a Bond or AncientGarurumon. In hindsight now, I am tempted to try cutting one Drawbumon and maybe a memory boost to put the Strabimons back in. It's worth a shot. But whatever the case, they are definitely better with higher Calmaramon counts, since you can play them out, get the searcher, and of course, get an extra swing/body.
The GabuBond shall never be severed
Wooh!! I’m excited!
Hope it's worth the wait!
Definitely! The red package and analog boy are awesome inclusions

You where really cooking with this one. Just out of curiosity, are playtesting at your locals or with friends?
Man, I tested this like crazy. I went through at least four or five drafts before this one finally stuck.
Thanks for putting in the work for us!

Why not tech in some Strabimon to help pick up Hybrids and tamers? They could do some real work getting to AncientGaruru.
