Legendary fiddler Kevin Burke and Cal Scott in a You Gotta Have Harp house concert in Voorhees NJ, 05/15/07, on tour to promote their new CD Across the Black River.
Actually, it depends. Most fiddlers play in the same tuning as the violon, so GDAE, but some tune it a half-tone higher and so play tunes a half-tone higher.
Not an expert here, but I think it is to "lift" the tunes up a little. Matt Molloy has a CD with his flute tuned half a step up for some tunes, as far as my knowledge goes.
they are both great musicans.. lookin for melodie/Rondes de Loudeac..sad cause it's not here yet... think the guitar is played by johnny cunningham and not by cal scott, but i'm not sure... but otherwise i think it don't matter if kevin play with cal or with jonny... they are both great guitar palyers..
@WhatsTheFolk i have played violin for 13 years almost, i dont see why anyone would want to play a half step up.. =-\ interesting bit of info there though!
Thank you for posting this marvellous video! Hope I ever see Burke live)
