    I am at the starting stages of building my first mower, and have watched thousands of videos doing research. BY FAR>>>> your videos are what I will being going off of!! Your depth of explanation are above all else!!! Definitely made a subber out of me!!! Keep up the great stuff. I know this is an older video, which shows how deep I am going in my research, but I hope you see this comment to show how much your videos help!!! I'm to old to do the video build thing, but I will send some pics of my build as I go if you'd like to see them!!! THANKS A TON!!!!!

    Very nice guys. Might have to go to R&P steering sooner then I thought if I can't find a 2nd gen assy near me.

    Yo I’ve got a 67 f100 4 speed completely modified with tray and front suspension and 88 JD 240 slide carb in both. They are rippers man. I got them on 15x10 pro rock 97 with 3” BS stanced out. I drive the JD to work so it’s rocking all season radials for the smooth ride. Your content definitely was super helpful. I have some land and a cabin in the high peaks area of the Adirondacks if y’all ever wanna rip the New York State snowmobile trail in the start of spring it’s awesome and huge goes on forever with hotels and bars along the way

    It’s very interesting watching your design of the articulating front end. I first saw this done by Ian Roussel of “Full Custom Garage” on Motor Trend. He started with a solid axle front end (including a leaf spring) from a Model T, then added the same articulation that you design also! He was building a Sand Buggy i believe. Very cool!

    @OKOFFROADMOWERS did you guys relocate the holes in the spindles where the tie rod ends attach so you got ackerman steering? Switching to a rack you definitly need to do that. You can youtube it if youre unfamiliar with what it is. It'll keep your tires from fighting eachother when turning.

    I’ve been gearing up to an axle swap and rack and pinion for my tractor, do you remember where that rack and pinion came from?

    • @okoffroadmowers
      @okoffroadmowers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s off of Amazon!

    • @Tennesseemountainhomestead
      @Tennesseemountainhomestead ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I’ve been looking at them on both eBay and Amazon. They have them for go carts, with the input spline 90 degrees perpendicular to the rack. Then, there are much beefier racks for Polaris utv’s. But the input on those is at an angle, I’d guess for the offset of the driver side. What i was wondering is if the one you used in this video was advertised for a go cart? And how has it held up so far?

    • @okoffroadmowers
      @okoffroadmowers  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Tennesseemountainhomestead yes was for a got cart and had held up amazing!

    I see a potential problem with that steering design every time that axle pivots up on one side the steer tires will turn if you locked the steering wheel stationary... (bumpsteer ain't cool). Your best bet is to mount that steering rack input vertical and do the steering in a way that allows for the vertical rack input this would stop the bumpsteer.

    i have quick question for y'all, if i did a pulley swap on my mower do i lose any torque or do i just gain speed?

    • @ebbsspeed
      @ebbsspeed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A larger pulley on the motor will increase ground speed capability, but at the expense of lost power.

      Most hardware/farm stores should carry U joint assy's for farm equipment. Look around your local area, or if nothing, search on Amazon.

    Can we get a link to the rack/pinion you used in this build? I know you have said Amazon but I haven’t ran across the one that you used and the one my son decided on and we ordered is NO WHERE near what it needs to be as far as quality wise…
    I think I can make this one work but it’s gonna take a whole lot of work to make it durable enough …..
    If you can please leave us commenters a link to the rack used in the video …

    Instead of up grading a donor mower it better to start from scratch, make a frame, and buy over built components instead of modifying. I'm a certified welder, but I ended up disabled and need a project.
