  • Thanks to all who checked up on me and my family we are alive and well. My middle daughter and son in law lost their home like so many, but they are alive and well. That is the best we can ask for for to be honest! Thanks for watching.

    When I lived in Floyd Co. I went through two Floods. It’s truly devastating. Me and my family have been helping out. Praying for Eastern Kentucky. This will not be a quick cleanup. But the people of Eastern Kentucky are strong. Mountain Pride 👍🏻👍🏻

      Thanks Jason! You are right the cleanup will definitely not be a quick one. Crews are working day and night trying to keep up with the cleanup effort. It definitely is looking better, but still so much that has to be done.

    Dang! Your video record of the destruction really hits hard. Been through a few hurricanes, but my intermediate family usually just suffered tree falls. The debris you documented is heartbreaking.
    I am about to express an opinion that may upset some, so Reader be warned:
    Out great nation sends funds, supplies, and weapons to nations in need all the time. Why are we, as a nation, left to fend for ourselves when disaster strikes? The media has sometimes covered when foreign forces assisted our domestic disasters, yet it is minor. Perhaps a divisive former president was correct in thinking we need to focus on our nation for a change. Let's suspend all foreign aid until every American is safe and secure in their own homes with their own families. Ha Ha, bless your soul, as Gnarls Barkley sang in the hit song "Crazy".

    • @potatothorn
      @potatothorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      massive federal aid is already arriving, they are receiving major disaster funds. . ps Kentucky's state budget is 38% federal aid, more than most other States. They are hardly being left "to fend for themselves". The US is actually financially able to help both its own people and people in other countries (when those other countries have something to offer us, we dont actually help other countries unless we want their resources or a military base on their lands). Bottom line: KY is about to get Billions in aid to repair these damages: and the President won't spend any time complaining about it even though that state voted against him. /or should we go back to that other guy who thinks only states that vote for him deserve aid in a disaster? Telling the biggest state economy in the US to "rake the forest" (absurdly ignorant) .. should we tell KY people "stop living along creeks?" absolutely not. They are fellow Americans in need. We help them without complaint.

    Im from Hindman. I haven't live there in 10 yrs . My family was hit with this. But not one time have they complained. We are built different in Eastern Ky. We pick up what we can and we work hard to put everything back together. Ive made 4 trips over there to help . Sir thank you for this video. But one thing is certain. WE ARE EAST KY STRONG.

      Kentucky folks are a strong lot for sure! We know how to roll with the punches, but this has been very tough on a lot of folks. Things are pulling back together, but unfortunately there is still a lot of folks living in tents and campers. Hopefully things will continue to get better before winter sets in hard. Thanks for watching!

    I could not believe my eyes, I came up on flooded out bridges and roads all over town that morning, I decided to take some pictures because it was something I knew I'd never seen before. I was setting at a bridge where my friends lost their life earlier that morning, I never even knew it at the time.i was just in awe at how much water there was.. I don't think I'll ever be the same.i can't even imagine how they felt,or all the others who was stuck in it and survived only to lose every single thing they owned. So sad.

    Growing up I had a recurring dream of my grandparents home being completely surrounded by flood water. Never thought at the age of 50 I would see that happen. I no longer live there but have family still there. I almost lost my aunt and cousin to this horrific flood. I’m so saddened for those who lost family, friends and their homes. Continually in prayer for my family and friends back home.

    wow this is intense. great job narrating. we had some flooding in the desert that did a lot of destruction but less people out there and the water goes away quickly// looks like you all were stuck with that water for some time, much more difficult to deal with/ ugh... hope things are repaired quickly, sad for those who had major damage to their homes, terrible some people died.. so sad// crazy destruction. around 5:50 you can see the high water line on the plants and tell wow that creek was WAY over the banks during the storm wow. Thanks for this detailed look at the area

    There's been many negative comments about people living in "obvious" flood plains. That's not accurate. Back when towns and cities were first settled in America, there was no running water or indoor plumbing. America did not have indoor plumbing in homes until the late 1800's, and the vast majority of that was in cities, NOT rural areas. You had to build right on top of the closest water source for your day-to-day survival. Water is heavy and was hard to move before plumbing and electricity came into existence, and then only if you had the money. As for the "obvious" flood plains, there were NO records available to study past flood trends to know where NOT to build. You would just find water and start building your shelter there. That eventually turned into towns as the trails transformed into roads. It's been that way since the beginning of time. I never see anybody mention this, they just judge.

    • @wandahaines7143
      @wandahaines7143 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      And a lot of these are not "obvious flood plains". My aunt's house was 30' + above the creek, My cousin's even higher (Breathitt county). My aunt had 4' of water in her house. One cousin totally lost his. So many other relatives lost their homes and have severe damage. People need to quit being so sanctimonious about something they have no idea. The water crested there at 43.4'. This is not normal flooding

    Luke 21:25-28
    King James Version
    And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
    Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
    And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
    And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

      Its amazing how destructive water can be. You are right it will not be a quick cleanup. The cleanup has been on going since the event and you can definitely see the difference, but there is so much that has to be done. Thanks for prayers my friend! It is appreciated more than you know.

    For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
    Jesus Christ is coming soon, soon this world will be no more. Today if you hear His voice harden not your hearts. Repent from your sins and accept Jesus today!!
    And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
    Revelation 22:12
