  • When the word got around that an American Golden Plover had landed on our shores in Victoria, Australia, it did cause quite a bit of a flap!
    So we joined our friend Tom and headed on down to the old Sewerage farm in Werribee to see how the little fellow was enjoying his holiday Downunder!
    It was fun to be part of the crowd watching from the grassy banks as the American tourist enjoyed the local delicacies while trying to blend in with his new feathered friends.
    It was also great to meet up with some of the twitching community again! We always enjoy a good banter and it was so nice to chat & swap notes. We even met a few people that watch our videos so we were quite chuffed about that!
    We do hope that our new American feathered friend stays safe, enjoys a brief stopover and finds his way safely back home.
    And we hope that you enjoy this video! Thanks for watching!!

      Thank you! 😀 It was quite funny as we had planned to go to the WTP with Tom anyway so it was quite the bonus to join in on the special twitch! Fortunately it wasn't too crowded. Turned out to be an enjoyable catch up with a few birders we've met before. 😊 ~ Karen

      Question though, where and how do you get a key access to this place?

    • @naturephotographychallenge
      @naturephotographychallenge  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@laughcentral9217 There are three ways to visit the WTP. 1. Apply to Melbourne Water to get a key for long term use (2 years). 2. There's also a short term (one day) application. 3. visit with a guide who has a key. This website should help - www.melbournewater.com.au/services/licences-and-permits/birdwatching-access

    Interesting seeing an Ozzie twitch...very civilized....well compared to our UK one's that is.🤣🤣 Our Twitches can get huge with many people on site scrambling for parking and viewing places. Love the Western treatment plant.

    • @naturephotographychallenge
      @naturephotographychallenge  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The twitches I've been to so far have all been extremely friendly. Almost like an excuse to catch up & chat with likeminded birders which is really nice. 😊 I've seen photos of twitches overseas and they are so much bigger!! I hope ours don't end up like that. It takes away the enjoyment & can put wildlife at risk ~ Karen

    • @shaunferguson8782
      @shaunferguson8782 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Aaahh don't get me wrong ours are fun too and like you say they can be a laugh too catching up with your mates. But on the reverse side the large amount of people can and sometimes does lead to extra pressure on the bird. Very rarely mind you does that happen. 9/10 times it's an awesome experience with like minded individuals. I'm from South Africa originally where I think twitching is still very much like yours, a more laid back kinda thing. Loved that guy asking if you were the TH-cam people...I get that lot myself...its a little weird still for me hearing it. I love your videos you two are a great combo together. Keep it up.
