- I guess it was bound to happen, We got locked out of our RV. Since our roadside assistance did have an RV locksmith available we had to hire an independent one. Overall it was a good experience the locksmith they sent was knowledgeable, fast and honest.
After this experience we decided to get extra keys. I contacted eTrailer with the key information and ordered 2 extra keys.
We are glad it happen at home instead of on the road.

So sorry this happened. The key typically only works on your bay doors outside. So glad you got in. I tell you for your rig I would look at RV locks. We had them on our other rig. Then you got a key code outside. That way you are never locked out. You about have to go to an RV place to get the door keys. ETrailer is great. I agree online is better. Great information y'all. I'm totally down for a key pad lock, Lou knows my thoughts on this. Hopefully one day soon that'll be another tiny upgrade we do. 🥰Angie
List...Key Pad, TPMS, Brake Controller and a couple other things I can't remember right now. I'm gonna need a full time & a part time job to get all the things we need & want...lol.

Oh my good thing we got an RVlock just punch in the code if we lock out plus no one else key can work so we feel safe.

Some interesting tid bits of info for you. If you look on the face of the lock you will notice a letter M on the flip latch lock only. That letter M signifies that it is a master key'd lock. So you can actually go online and buy a master key that will open all of them. Dealers use this to have a single key that will open all RVs on the lot during showings etc. Usually only the flip handle will have this M and no other locks. If you have an M marking on any other locks you may want to get yourself a non master cylinder and a core removal key to take care of that situation and swap it out. Also you can order locks for your side bins that use your existing entry door key so you dont have multiple keys that you have to keep with you in order open your bins. This also gets rid of the pesky CH751 key that nearly every RV in America has for their side bin keys.

Yep, I did the same thing you did. Luckily an emergency window was unlocked so I crawled through that. Never happening again. I bought the keyless lock from RVLock. I love your videos. I’m so glad I found you. Thank you to #youmeandtherv

Sorry you were locked out, but this was a great video to help others. I’ve been locked out of my cars so often, I don’t leave my car now unless my keys are in my hot little hand. Lou as always you crack me up. Panic does tend to make us do things we otherwise wouldn’t.

Glad y’all got back in without waiting overnight. I got locked out of my car in Baltimore and it cost $200 for the guy to come and unlock it in about 2 minutes. I was so frustrated with myself for locking us out from the beginning, but I was super bummed with we had to pay that much money. 🙄
Wow $200 for 2-mins, and us $150 in probably 5-mins. That's the business I need to be in lol. 🤑Angie
Really sorry it took so long but at least you figured out no one was coming and you were in an rv park and not stuck on the side of the road. FYI most rv locks are extremely easy to pick. So I am a little disappointed that 🦎 couldn't get someone there asap to help. Great information!
I was pretty shocked too, that not just any car locksmith couldn't open an RV. But problem resolved for the future now 🤗Angie
@@EatSleepRVRepeat Here is some useless information: Some locksmiths carry a set of master keys for rv locks. They figure out which one is yours and cut you a new key in the back of their van. I figure the issue was you needed a locksmith and some how the insurance company just didn't understand problem. I really had never thought that I would have to spell it out for them. This is a good. Really got me thinking about what I would do if I was in the same situation on the side of the road.
We had a similar thing happen with our T@B 400!
But out key lock set was fro Europe and NO ONE in the USA had a replacement because it was digitally cut!! So for months we had only ONE key until the total lock set arrived from Europe!! Trust me, $150 was a DEAL!! We now have a Winnebago Micro Minnie Winnie. We loved the T@b, the cabinets were totally European but we went a titch bigger and Love our Minnie too. BUT, we have 4 keys!! We each have one and two are hidden! I feel safe now! ;)
That sounds like a bit of a headache. We the love the Winnebago Micro Minnies. We looked at them for a very long time.
Getting locked out or losing a key is no joke. I'm glad you were able to resolve it. There is so much peace of mind having spares.

Sorry you had this problem, we also had several keys made of our RV but was able to obtain them from our local hardware store. We started this years ago when we locked ourselves out of our son's truck with it running.
Oh no. That sounds awful. Hopefully it wasn't running for too long before rescue was in its way too you. So happy you were proactive and had keys made for the RV. Very smart and something we'll be doing going forward each and every time. 🙂Angie

Wow, glad it all worked out. And what a great tip, will check out E-trailer. We have two keys, but another spare wouldn't hurt. I recently locked myself out of my Jeep at the grocery store, and had to wait forever for AAA to come. I only have one key to the Jeep, and when I checked with the dealership, it was going to be very expensive to get another. But maybe I need to search online... Thanks much. Debbie - BluWave Odyssey

Hi Bob I wanted to add my 2 cents. For Jeep I would try Ebay. You can probably get a key with the code & programming or programming instructions. Then you just need a regular place like Ace hardware to cut the key.
This was my experience with our Scion. It went from $250 at the dealership to $75.

Btw, if you don’t have a key to get the code (lost keys), remove the lock plate on the inside of the door (usually 4 screws) and there will be a sticker with the key code and a phone # to order replacement keys from.

These locks are same as the ones on cheap cabinet doors and dressers you can just use a couple of paperclips to open them

@@EatSleepRVRepeat They're called Wafer Locks and when I replaced the wafer pins to set it for a new key it didn't have different strength springs so I had to throw in a couple of stronger springs in to make it harder for the inexperienced picker who tries, as a temporary fix because it will not stop the experienced ones so I'm saving up to replace the entire lock body. And I highly suggest other's do as well 🔒🔐

Yeah it was just a moment our thoughts lapsed. Of course with the key outside with us we would've been fine. Being brand new to this, it was just a momentary scare. ;-) Angie

This video took twice as long as it should’ve…you say the same thing more than once and waste lots of time giggling and saying irrelevant things…and gaps with ummm…and arrrr… just annoying.
Thanks though…I have lost my keys for every lock on my caravan and will get a locksmith tool to get in.
