BHPetrol RON95 or RON97 - When Should I Use RON97? | YS Khong Driving

  • Most cars are tuned to run on RON95, but did you know that your car may actually be more happy with RON97?
    For example, I can survive on rice porridge, but if there is delicious meat and curry, I would be happier. It's the same with your car.
    Under certain conditions, a tank or two of RON97 would do wonders - your car would be happier.
    RON97 by BHPetrol iay preferred choice of fuel whenever I need more from my car. It's a win-win situation; my car sings happily, and I get to go faster!
    Do enjoy the video and find out why you should use RON97, and let us have your comments.

    Hi Uncle YS, what is your opinion on this? Instead of pump RON97, pump RON95 and add Octane Booster to it. This way, it is still much cheaper and you still get to increase Octane No in RON95 too. Just remember the old days when RON97 was not available yet and we use to add some Octane Booster for better efficiency, smoother run and cleaner engine or just for fun. Hahaha

    • @YSKhongDriving
      @YSKhongDriving  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It depends - whether the octane booster is real or not, and whether you put in the correct amount to give it the right boost. Might be easier to just pump RON97 Seakligus.

      For most of the hybrids, it should be okay to just run 95

  • @4G12
    @4G12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    TLDR: Use the fuel your engine is tuned for. Higher than spec is a safe bet, though may be a needless waste if your engine simply is tuned to benefit. For instance, 100 RON for your engine where the owner's manual recommends 91 RON is a complete waste of $$$, but using 91RON for an engine that recommends 95RON is flirting with disaster (read EXPENSIVE repair bills), especially if you actually use the engine's power.

    • @jchantw
      @jchantw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Uncle ys didn't bring out this impt point that don't spend money on thing (ron97) you normally dun need on everyday driving.. its not going to make your car go faster, smoother, or petrol last longer.. Just waste money.. just pump what the manual recommend.. perhaps this vid is sponsored by bhp petrol, that's why need to ask u spend more to pump more expensive petrol la...lol...

    • @4G12
      @4G12 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jchantw
      If your engine was actually tuned for say RON97, it WILL measurably benefit from RON97 over RON95. That said, if your engine is only tuned for 95RON (your owner's manual will specifically mention the recommended octane quite clearly), it simply can't benefit from RON97 since it wouldn't do the necessary tweaks to benefit from the superior knock resistance, unless there are confounding factors that reduce effective octane (e.g. abnormally high temperatures for the air ingested by the engine).

      Yup i’ve been pumping my porsche at home with 95 for years. No issue. Sure the the 97 or 100 gives better combustion but heck like i care about combustion 😂. I dont see the value to spend more on better fuel.
