I'm a freediving instructor and I'm dealing with the same issue . Got covid ... then teaching/training which lead to reverse sinus block... then 3 weeks rest but sick again ... back to work with the help of corticoid /nasal rinsing but now with non stop teaching I have pain again . Sergey is right the ONLY option is to completely recover before diving again or the situation.can last forever . It's hard especially when you are a professional . Will learn from my mistake . I'm taking one month off

Thanks for sharing! I've got this problem on my first 10m dive. I don't know what it came from but notice that I pressed very hard on my mask because I misunderstood that the mask should have less air as possible. I will have next dive at Koh Tao at the end of June so I think I have enough rest and recover my sinuses now. Cheers! /Pack

Thanks for sharing your experience. Right now I have the same problem. My sinus pain comes suddenly, today I couldn’t go pass 1 meter. I took allergy pill and going to try tomorrow see if it’s better. Not sure what else I can do to fix it..

    • @KAIZENFREEDIVING
      @KAIZENFREEDIVING  5 ปีที่แล้ว

You are welcome! The best solution is not to dive for a while. If tomorrow would be the same take at least 1 week off. I also use some anti inflammation medicine in the case

It happened to me too, I went a few days in a row and every day the sinus pressure in my forehead was very intense, and I actually misinterpreted it as a mask issue. I though my mask was too tight on my face and that the rubber on the mask was pushing really hard against my forehead. Eventually, I started spitting out mucus that was bloody one day and yellow the next. Now I know I injured my sinuses and mostly incurred an infection (because of the yellow). What medicine helps? I will certainly take a few weeks off as my head still hurts. Thanks for the video!

Thx for sharing your experience! I am not a medical professional, but probably some anti inflammatory drags. Better to check with a doctor. But most important is to stop diving for a while

why is it hard for me to equalize in a vertical position? please help I am very frustrated.. if you equalize the position of the head above it is very easy to equalize..

Thank you for this great video.
I started freediving recently but an old sinus problem came back from the time I did my last scuba dive in 2019 when I went diving 3 times despite having a little cold due to airconditionning. I got an excessive pain on top of my left eye as if a nerve popped.
Recently I started freediving and this pain came immediately back. I rested one month, went to the Dr., I did a scan, took medicine, nose rinse, etc. and I went back but I still have an excessive pain when I reach 3 to 4 meters.
Do you know what I could do please?🙏🏼

It's hard to say. Normally, after a couple of weeks' rest, it should be fine. But I know one guy who is trying to "fix" his sinuses for a year...Sorry, couldn't give you any specific advice, and I might be doing a check-up with another doctor. Hopefully, you will sort it out!

    • @merjunetv1162

My advice is to make sure that you don't have cold when you dive. And it's very normal to have mucus build up when diving because of the temp change in water. My technique when freediving is I always remove the mucus in my nose whenever I am at the surface after every dive to remove the mucus build up in the sinus area. Just cover the other side of the nose, then sneeze. After that, do the other side. Another technique is I inhale water using my nose, just enough amount of water to fill the sinus area, then sneeze . Mucus build up on the deep part of sinus will come out with the water.. this technique works well with me, I don't know if it will work with you ,but you can try. In my case I can't rest that long to recover from sinus injury because I am addicted to freediving😂😂😂

    I have another problems
Don’t know how to fix it
I can do frenzel equalization well but i hear pop ups only in my left ear and feel nothing or hear nothing in my right ear but when I pinch my nose and swallow both my ears equalize very well
I don’t know why frenzel equalization works with my left ear only
    And swallow works with both

It can be some anatomical difference between left and right side. I would reccomend to focus on dry Frenzel EQ exervises.

I’ve recently started free diving and I’m only going to 5-6 or less meters, I didn’t experience any pain while underwater but a headache started to develop about an hour after I came back to land, together with migraine and vomiting 😢 the doctor said I have a sinus infection, two weeks after I’m still having migraines, still don’t know what cause this, could be I had my mask really tight or I had a blocked nose at the time 😢

It is better to take such problems seriously. I have a student who ignores sinus infection for a while and keeps diving. Then it got worse, and he was unable to dive for more than a year...

I was freediving yesterday 20 m dives and first 10-15 dives was fine then started having pain in my forehead, my nose started bleeding and every dive was gradually getting more and more painful until I couldn’t even get past 10m, my mask would fill up w blood and was very painful underwater until I came to surface.
I have this problem quite regularly on my dives now think it’s called sinus squeeze? But I’m scared I won’t be able to do long day trips freediving bc of this. I’m not sure what to do I’ve tried resting for month before going again and same problem it always happens after a few dives but the first dives are always fine.. so confused and rest definitely doesn’t help me idk what to do
Someone plz help. I love freediving

I guess freediving isn't for us with sinus problems 😭 i badly wanna explore more deeper parts of the ocean but unfortunately I have had sinus problems for a long time. So I really can't go deeper as I feel something painful on my forehead. I didn't wanna risk it. So I guess I'll settle with snorkeling and not going too deep.
