Things like this always go in cycles. A Pokemon is considered "OP" so the entire meta shifts around them, with every team carrying powerful answers to it, so people switch it up and go something like Zam, then the meta starts to shift around answering him. Cycle repeats.
Although... based on those SpD calcs from Kyogre, part of me wonders if Ho-oh is secretly good in this meta? Like... 154 SpD, resists fighting, distributes burns like it's halloween candy to nerf Calyrex-I, provides its own Tailwind and recovery, rock isn't a particularly common offensive attack type right now, and even if it was, Tera into any other type is always an option. I get it's not *broken* like most of the recent restricted mons, but is Ho-oh shaping up to be the Restricted Pachirisu?

Absoltely. It's gonna be a menace again once double restricted format hits. It needs another mon to exhert immediate pressure while it cleans up and starts snowballing.

It’s less “let me make sure I can survive Calyrex” and more “do I really need to prep for it, I already have Incineroar, Farigiraf, and Ursaluna… eh, I’ll throw in Foul Play, why not”
It’s good, but it feels like you need to play it more carefully than Ice. With Shadow, you mess up your positioning, you’re gonna take a lot of damage and probably go down, but with Ice, you don’t need to think. Nothing short of a strong super effective attack or choice specs stab hyper beam from Terapagos is gonna do you in, so you don’t even need trick room, you can just laugh and glacial lance. It’s not washed, and I think it’s going to see results and wins, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wins worlds tbh, but I definitely think people did overrate it going into the format. Having a negative matchup into THE VGC Pokémon and the treasures of ruin, and normal type being the strongest it’s been for a while with the likes of Ursaluna and the Giraffe means that it’s not going to have the dominance it was expected to.
Caly-S is doing bad because of all the dark types, but people are running those dark types because of Caly-S. Once people run counters to the dark types, the dark types will fall a little out of favor, and Caly-S will come back to blow up everything.
I will never ever underestimate Calyrex Shadow Rider. Ever. Also, it should be said that it can't be compared to what folks said about Incineroar at the beginning of F. Mainly due to the fact that after the first regional where it didn't win, Wolfey came and changed everyone's minds right after that in the next regional, therefore "Incin isn't good anymore" was incredibly short lived.
Its not a fraud, its still stupidly broken, its just that EVERYONE was expecting it to dominate so everyone was getting ready to destroy it, im so glad that it hasnt won anything not even top 8, if that thing wins everyone is using it

People were saying Incineroar was a fraud because it didn't immediately win tournaments at the start of Reg F, whereas H-Arc and Entei were doing better at the time. I think we just gotta let the meta play out a bit more. We'll see where things go.
Didn't Incin immediately win an online tournament at the beginning of F? Plus, right after Entei won the first regional at F, Wolfey piloted Incin to win in impressive fashion at the very next regional. Incins' "demise" was far more short-lived than compared to Shadow Rider, who I believe is still a top tier threat.
One thing i noticed is that this type of centralization did not occur in 2014 with the primals, till i realize you can't hard counter the primals in the builder but instead on the play (and also, powercreep isn't as blaxing fast uptil now, like, drop raging bolt in 2014 and watch the chaos ensue with P-don mirrors/ray-ogre CTs)

Honestly i think it's simply. Shadow Rider is strong, but has a bunch of pretty easy counters. Incin for instance, or Terrapagos sometimes, not to mention Dark and Normal Tera were already good. As opposed to say Ice Rider who's only really countered by water types as it has coverage for everything else and defensive water types just aren't very common.
Once pro players figure out the meta a little better, Caly-S will get better I think, it’s really good just has to have good teammates to help with those brick walls
Hey i would like to hear you opinion. I think togekiss being a partner for caly shadow isn't that Bad. You have spotlight, ally switch, life dew or helping Hand. You resist the dark type moves and have ok defensive stats

Tbh the teams people have come up with for this thing are just bad. As well as flutter mane does everything it does and faster if booster speed without tera so it hates flutters as well. So top 2 mons between incin and flutter make caly s hate its life.
I think the team structures being employed as of now are failures. They will have to go back to the drawing board and rethink what the optimal team for it is, all meta developments considered. All of these restricteds are only as good as their teams backing them.

People aren’t really even over preparing for it. It’s just the counters to it, like Incin, Farigiraf, etc, are just really good Pokémon.

The counter argument to that is that the ice version has just as many counters for it at a high level, yet it has had way more success.
