You know who would be perfect as a Build A Figure? G1 NIGHTBIRD, she's not a transformer, but she is a well enough known robot, and it can help get her original look into modern knowledge.
I say that's also fairly simular to something of one of the Mixels waves, where the bags in the years wave had a Nix that when all together made a combined King Nix
That'd be an amazing way of making a toy of her, considering she doesn't really "transform" in a way that could be made into a traditional Transformer. Shocked I haven't seen anyone suggest that before
The idea of a BAF that transforms into accessories that can be combined to make a figure is pretty brilliant. It could be a really effective sales tactic if they included the gimmick in the content for a line.
Strangely, Transformers BAFs are actually quite fitting for the characters who end up as BAFs. Transmutate has an incredibly weird design, Maccadam has a nonsense alt-mode, and Mandroid is a human. Now what would a decent Generations BAF be… Oh, wait. A combiner.
you say it's impossible to make something like the Ratchet/Megatron amalgamation into a transforming figure, but I legit saw recently a fan-made moc using the core class Ratcet and Megatron toys, and it is surprisingly great, and it transformers into a tank/ambulanace amalgamation that, just like the robot mode, is just a mess of parts but is actually cohesive.
Make Action Master Weaponizer BAF's. Their alt modes are implied so we're not losing out. I also like this idea for the inner robots of Pretenders, and since some of the molds were very simplified & similar to one another you can cut down on their tooling budget
build a figure really scares me with the existing distribution issues. in my experience, shelfwarming is so bad, even if there were half as many as i typically see from collectors buying the whole wave it would still be horrendously bad. Also many times I only ever saw 1 or 2 figures from a wave at local retailers even when HUNTING, so if i actually wanted to build one it's not like I wouldnt have to go online or preorder anyways which to me, means it doesn't really help the current issues with legacy.
I suggest rereleasing the original Rushed Reviews as Rushed Review Remasters in Shorts, then doing Rushed Review Re-examined where you give all the originals an updated and possibly changed score.
I doubt they would ever actually do this but when you look at the design of Autobot X he's using parts of other Autobots. Prowl's head, Sunstreaker's upper arm, Hound's shoulder cannon, I think a little bit of Optimus Prime also got mixed into the head design. The chest seems to be half Prowl half Hoist. So like I said I don't think Hasbro would actually do it but what if those parts actually came packaged with the character they were modeled after? They don't really need it to transform but if he was made of actual parts from the other characters you could potentially fake a messed up alt mode using the same engineering and it doesn't have to look good sinse it's really not meant to Transform anyway. BTW they could also do Nightbird as a Build a Figure. They've been making her as a repaint of Arcee and reimagned her as a Transformer in recent years but the original Nightbird actually didn't transform and they could make a version of her that's 100% accurate to the G1 cartoon if they just made her a BAF. I don't think she would ever sell on her own without transforming so a BAF would be the only way Hasbro would ever make one. Unless something like R.E.D. makes G1 Nightbird. I also think they should do the Quintessons as a build a figure. Every wave could include a different body and different face sculpts and that's all they would need to do. It wouldn't feel like your forced to buy entire waves to complete a figure but instead would feel like you could customize your own Quintessons by mixing the various body types and faces. It adds an aspect of customization with the BAF. There is a draw back however because I have seen figures with customizable BAFs before and there's a chance this could happen to Maindroid with his optional left arm. The problem is if your a kid constantly swapping the parts of your toys eventually the steam breaks and typically the ball joint gets stuck in the socket. Tight ball sockets really aren't the best option for something that's made to be removed and reattached. If you put it in and then just leave it there it should be fine but every time you pull the ball socket back out you're risking breaking that ball off the steam.
A possible issue with fully transformable build-a-figures, whether Junkion style or weaponizer style, is the potentially higher cost that comes from increased part complexity. Build-a-figure parts traditionally aren't that complex compared to what might be necessary for a fully transforming part. Something that could be a potential issue for the weaponizer style is how much future use they might can expect to get out of the mold. For example, a Marvel build-a-figures might be later re-released as a cost-reduced and somewhat tweaked complete single figure, basically the reverse of turning an existing Junkion into a build-a-figure.
I really cannot think of anyone besides Autobot X and the Marvel amalgamation of Megatron and Ratchet (which actually were the first ones that came to mind when you mentioned it. Maybe a show accurate Alpha Trion since he never actually transformed in G1. Quintessons I guess too could have been done as a BAF. We still need a Quintesson Scientist Hasbro lol. Maybe Sari from Animated, specifically her form after she upgraded
I don’t know any other transformer TH-camr doing it like you omega you’re my favorite and you always pump out great captivating videos. You are great and I’m definitely doing my best to support you because you deserve more recognition
I hope they do a wave where each figure can combine in a accurate way that way if you don’t care for the build a figure you don’t have random parts lying around because I just hate when the build a figure line is either expensive or bad but has a good figure ie cyberverse I got shockwave because it was reasonably priced and I liked how it looked but now I just have a macadam leg that I don’t know what to do with
My first experience with a Build a Figure was seeing a (I kid you not) Peter Griffin figure that claimed that you could collect all the Family Guy figures to build Death. Norm Macdonald as a Build a Figure.
“Ah, geez, Lois. This is worse than the time they broke up Norm McDonald and packed his bits and pieces with action figures of us! Granted, it was kinda hard for kids to get all the parts, but they were able to put him back together again.”
Perfect BAF G1 Halonix Maximus - since we didn’t see his alt mode Also how about introducing a Base Transformer, now a City bot, but like a playset (I think of Teletraan 1 though he already had a Figure) Each part are used as either weapons, Repair post, Computer, Transport (like roller), then combine them to make a Base like set up, Then each transforms to parts of a Giant robot. Best part, similar to aerobots and combaticons, each part can either be a leg or an arm, so they can buy more and just mix and match (1 main body computer, and 4 parts from the same package, then the others can be plug in the back)
The problem with the Build a Figures is some markets only get half the figures in the assortment. I'm in the UK, we never got all the Cyberverse deluxes so no Maccadam for me, and Nightshade isn't being offered to our retailers, so I cannot finish Mandroid.
I think they could easily make modern bafs of actual transformers with how they made the Leagacy junions, the only point against that is that if they wanted a chunky voyager they would need to make the separations not in the joints
Makes perfect sense, especially if the pieces both work with the bot they come with and combine into a transforming figure like the Weaponizers, Fossilizers, and Junkions.
I think the biggest obstacle for Transformers Build-a-Figure, transforming or not, is less engineering and more budget. Most of the BAF-heavy toylines end up being just high-end action figures, with heavier concerns on posability and mold/paint accuracy, while Transformers have to also account for transforming the main figures. We've seen how many corners they've had to cut in Legacy for characters with partners: Needlenose and Pointblank have extremely simplified Targetmasters compared to the Micromasters and Battlemasters from WfC or even the Titan/Prime Masters from PWT, with the main figures themselves suffering in some way or another as well, and none of the Armada/Cybertron characters in Legacy except for one exclusive recolor (and technically a Shattered Glass one) came with their Mini-Con partners; can you imagine what it'd be like for them to include part of a full figure, let alone one that can transform once assembled? That said, I wouldn't mind seeing more BAFs in the collector-oriented lines, even if they had to cut the line 1 figure short per class to keept the quality of the remaining characters and still remain within budget. It'd be a great opportunity to get characters that can't transform like Autobot X, the Trans-Organics or the missing Quintesson castes, or characters where partsforming would be ideal for representing their transformations like Sari Sumdac's "change hands and feet" transformation or Amalgamous Prime and other Shifters.
Actually I know that Legends of Cybertron did have Combiner build a figure too, because I have pieces of Devastator that needed you to get the rest of the line
A build a figure is when you get a single part of a character with each character in the wave so if the combiner wasn’t actually made of the toys but were just limb parts each came with than yes but short hand no they are just combiners
Protoforms, Non-Transformer Bots, and exo-suits, would be neat; but distribution needs to be fixed and the Wave assortment needs to be altered to get a whole BAF out. Humans need to be kept at Core Class
Correction: Og transmutate is only ever referred to in their starring episode by they/them pronouns (first ever nonbinary transformer character, sorry Nightshade). The gender change to female was only introduced for the newer botcon version.
I nominate TJOMEGA as a product researcher/developer/marketer for HASBRO and TAKARA!!!! he really has good ideas an knows what he is talkin about!!!!!!
Blue Marvel is a fairly well liked character among comic fans and Madame Hydra is a notable Captain America villain If anything, they’re both more high profile than the build a figure Controller
Hot Rod was the only dud in the Cyberverse line because of the severe lack of colouring, and then Arcee and Grimlock horribly yellowed; thank Primus Earth Spark is giving us a new Grimlock hopefully with better plastic, the three non BAC Deluxe were good as well, but I think Prowl is also yellowing, haven't seen my Starscream in a while so I can't tell about him. And since I want to give Shockwave a drone army a second one is fine for me, if only they didn't decide to give Australia the middle finger AGAIN and only released the first three in store, had to order wave two from a specialty store and not give us access to the last two in the wave, had to buy them from Taiwan for double the price.
The two buld a figures I would love to see is that Megatron/Ratchet combo from the Marvel comics and zombie Optimus prime from Dark Awakening episode. Those both are morbid but cool as hell to have. Zombie prime doesn't have to transform either I don't think.

Can you do a video about hone hone zaurus? Because they have transformable model kits either as head masters or build a figures or just a dinosaur that turns into a car. They even have combiners as well.
There is no way Hasbro would do a Junkion or Weaponizer build-a-figure without raising the price of the figures the pieces come with by at least $5. Why would they give away a $25+ figure?
Frankly? I'd be happy with just parting out Legacy Sixgun as a BAF, or doing similar "guy made out of guns, bit with optional scifi vehicle mode." Is LaserBlast McGenericName going to get me to buy a figure I wouldn't otherwise? Sure; why not? Give it a cool robot mode (like, say, a bird or cat) and a kitbashed afterthought vehicle mode and have the independent sections be guns I can use on the figure, and I'm good.
Um… G1 Constructicons were sold separately. They’re the very definition of “BUILD A GIANT FIGURE”. And each figure came with extra parts forming pieces to BUILD Deveastator like his head, chest plate, hands, weapon, ect.
I like your ideas for Weaponizer-like BAFs, but i don't see it happening. In a world where figures dont even include simple weapons or Mini-Con partners, transforming accessories that turn into Transformers seems like a huge stretch for Hasbro. Maybe ten or twenty years ago, but not now.
you missed the cheapest but most unobtrusive build-a-figures, the RiD cybertronian wildlife. some RiD minicons included energon armor, and they had 1 or 2 pieces of armor that you could combine with several pieces from other minicons to make a cybertronian cat or fish.
meh, BAF ideas only work if you care about the figure to begin with. by no means was i rushing to get my hands on abominus or mojo from marvel legends *shrugs*
The fomo is real. I just don't like having to pay more if I just want one or two regular figures. If I want something like McDonalds Inspector Gadget I'd just buy the entire figure online without the extra calories. BAF's turn me off big time. Just lower your regular figure price by $5 and sell the BAF for $40. The worst thing is that each wave usually has 1 or 2 winners and you will never ever find them, even as likely you will not be able to pre order them, you have to buy them third party.
I was never a fan of build a figure line as you have to buy them all for the big figures. Only combiners feels like a done and one acceptable big figure with multiple characters making it up.

A fun thing about Mandroid is the Ports work with other Figures and you can use his body with the Weaponisers to create more looks for him.
Build-a-fig idea: include a minicon partner with every toy in a wave and have certain mini cons combine. Oh wait, that’s just Armada.
I say that's also fairly simular to something of one of the Mixels waves, where the bags in the years wave had a Nix that when all together made a combined King Nix
Another candidate for a Build-A-Figure would probably be Animated season 3 Sari.

Hm. Maybe they could include one core class combiner part with each toy? Maybe that'd be one way of getting a Monstructor out there 😊
a minicon combiner?
include the 3 components of armada perceptor each with a deluxe, the same can be done with the 3 minicon weapons.
@@Marvin_R sure, why not! Also Dinoking, the Micromaster combiners and so on.
Here's an idea I have (Since this is a version of a character that didn't have an alt mode) Beast Machines Megatron.

That strange purple griffin would somehow make sense for this.

The worst thing is that each wave usually has 1 or 2 winners and you will never ever find them, even as likely you will not be able to pre order them, you have to buy them third party.
An alternative solution to complete build a figure without buying the ones you don't want: ebay
I was never a fan of build a figure line as you have to buy them all for the big figures. Only combiners feels like a done and one acceptable big figure with multiple characters making it up.
Transmutate is a she? I always thought they were non- binary…
Frankly? I'd be happy with just parting out Legacy Sixgun as a BAF, or doing similar "guy made out of guns, bit with optional scifi vehicle mode."
Is LaserBlast McGenericName going to get me to buy a figure I wouldn't otherwise? Sure; why not? Give it a cool robot mode (like, say, a bird or cat) and a kitbashed afterthought vehicle mode and have the independent sections be guns I can use on the figure, and I'm good.
