@yeyosilver7067 Saw pictures of her when she was a kid, teen and adult. No plastic surgery. The makeup artist did contour her nose though. That's evident in some photos. Her nose in profile photos is as normal as anyone. Has a hump on the tip. Still, not bad for a natural beauty ✨️

This. People don't realize how much the lighting of film changed from Black and white to color. It's not as stark these days, but early film stock was sold in indoor and outdoor varieties and had color tones to it. Grace Kelly had a neutral undertone so she looked beautiful on all color film stock and had the bone structure to really be enhanced by the harsh lighting

@@evelynwald9132 according to the Kibbe body typing system (which I'm not entirely a fan of because of the simple fact that my body literally doesn't fit into it, but I've found excellent for understanding a lot about old Hollywood stars and how they were viewed by the public), she has a classic body type which means she is not particularly far in any direction of tall/short, wide/narrow,
Muscular/soft, angular/rounded, or any other dichotomy of how bodies can differ and this means that as the definition of a true classic she looks really good in pretty much everything. While I always consider Marilyn Monroe to be the epitome of beauty, Grace Kelly has an unbeatable class and a huge part of it is that it is so easy to pick out clothes that would make her look amazing. She looks good in most any colors you can think of, maybe not every shade of every color, but chances are you can find a shade of a color that will make her shine and you can make almost any style of clothes work on her, as long as they are well tailored. She isn't overly curvy or overly skinny. She's not particularly short or particularly tall and she doesn't look significantly different from her height meaning that she isn't petite or large boned. Whereas Marilyn Monroe was that beautiful Hourglass figure, Audrey Hepburn on the opposite end of the spectrum with a 19 inch waist and a very slim non curvy figure. And then you had Grace Kelly right in the middle. She wasn't super curvy so she wasn't overly sexualized. She wasn't super skinny so she wasn't infantilized. She wasn't super tall or "mannish" like Katharine Hepburn (I hate to use Mannish for her, but she often wore men's fashion and the kibbe body type she had to this day is associated with suits and men's wear on women, when I think that her true goal was to evoke a sense of power and show the studios that she was deserving of equal treatment). Her neutral look could have made her forgettable, but instead it made her name synonymous with elegance and poise because she always looked like she belonged there.

Wait. Grace Kelly was considered homely by her family? Wild. Grace is so classically beautiful I have drawing books from the 1950s into the modern era that clearly use her face as muse for instruction.

I think "The Country Girl" was the only one in which she looked a little dowdy (if it's possible to imagine her looking dowdy), but that was what the part called for.

I wonder if part of what made her iconic is that audiences didn’t get to watch her age over time. There’s no older era of her career that “taints” the glamor of the movies she’s known for. Because age-ism, misogyny, and all that.

If someone dies or retires young then people assume the upward trajectory would go on forever, but in reality that never happens.
Princess Grace certainly aged in the public eye until she died 26 years later in 1982. Her face was repeatedly on women's magazine covers, and her family was featured in articles over and over again. So she did not disappear from public view after her departure from films. And she remained a beautiful, naturally aged woman right up to the end.
