I think I have the right to be a proud Swede. Like everyone else about their country. Some things Swedes have come up with I find astounding. OK we have "high" taxes. I myself had surgery (as a nine-year-old) on my squinting eye. As an adult, I have had two back surgeries and the removal of a cancer kidney. I have received five Covid injections, etc. In total (let me think about it) it has cost me (including all the time they wanted me to stay in the hospital) about SEK 3,000. Our tax money goes back to us taxpayers.

Subbing for the Swedish reaction videos.
1:15 Nope, Finland isn't Scandinavian. Just Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Finland is Nordic along with Iceland, Greenland (which is owned by Denmark) and Faroe Islands. Crazy how many times people doing videos on the topic gets it wrong...
6:05 It came over to the US via Swedes, but he said it originated in Finland.
You gotta watch some Jonna Jinton videos.

@@Nekotaku_TV The log cabin came from Finland to Sweden, however Finland was an integral part of Sweden at the time this happened (for over 600 years until 1809) so ...

Finland was part of Sweden when the log cabin became a thing. So saying both is not incorrect because its both. Its just easier to say Finland because of thats what it is today.
Even as a swede myself i get Nordic vs Scandinavian wrong all the time. Its just something that never stuck with me. So its understandable that people get it wrong. Its fine.

@@johncenashi5117 It's not fine, we need to educate people. And really strange that you get it wrong.
But oh, didn't think of that, in a way you could say it's Swedish then haha. But it's more respectful and accurate to say it's Finnish.

@ku_TV Educating people THAT much might be to much. Its nothing that matters. I dont know the states in the bible belt for example. Its not that important. For Europeans yeh suuuure, but US dont really need that education because its not even on the same continent. They know about main europe and thats what matters, knowing the difference between Scandic and Nordic is not that important. Its kinda like knowing about the Schengen area, its not that big of a deal.

My friend, you use a Swedish invention every day, the zipper. How do ships and boats move forward without the propeller? The wrench and the pipe wrench, both Swedish inventions. The seat belt in cars and shatter-free windshields, Volvo, and of course Swedish inventions. I can go on for a long time. Great that you are interested in Sweden, you are welcome to visit us whenever you want!

Greta Garbo was born and raised in Sweden. She was about 20 years old when she went to the US.

No one pays 57% tax on their income, Sweden as most countries use a progressive tax system where you only pay the higher tax for each bracket.
This means that even at the highest tax bracket (monthly income of above USD 9000) you pay a maximum of 40 % tax in total after basic deductions and a medium income person pays around 22% tax after basic deductions.
Corporate tax is very low however at 20,6% and there is no inheritance, gift or property tax so all in all its not as bad as you might think hearing about the top tax bracket only
Capital gains tax is 30% which is less than the UK at 38% and slightly above the US at 29%

I was surprised many years ago when I first heard that Mickey Mouse was popular in other countries. Why? He's so boring!
