    In 1993, I was in the Air Force and going through military training at Wichita Falls TX. We had curfew the first month we were there, but the dorms had a little arcade. Mortal Kombat was new and that was the big arcade, but I discovered 2 pinball machines in the corner. Adams Family and Creature from the Black Lagoon. I spend a lot of quarters playing those machines!

      Similar here. AIT training in the Army at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX 1993. Played a ton of Addams Family and Mortal Kombat!

      I'm 67, I know what you mean. I beta (pre release) tested video games for Sega and other companies, but was overly interested in collecting video games. I played a virtual pinball game at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas but it is not the same.

    @2:09 I don't have deep pockets at all. Pinball can be very affordable if you accept that your first table isn't gonna be a monster bash or an attack on mars. Start smaller dude...work your way up. If you make it a certainty in your life pinball can happen. I make very little money..and in a short 5 years I've added 8 tables to my collection. I don't know how...it just happens. Keep the faith...don't settle for playing virtual or video pinball. ^_^

    • @wigglesarcade8261
      @wigglesarcade8261  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right about working your way up. I guess my comment about it being really expensive relates more to the popular machines that 90% of people want to play and own. But as I said I lack the space to own pinball or arcade machines so even if I wanted to work my way up I cant right now.

    *Medieval Madness!*
    So much heart was being put in developing that masterpiece! We still have that machine at this local dive bar I go to in Seattle. Folks still get to that table before I do, it's just that good!

      It is unfortunate but it was the baby boomers like me and early Gen x having the interest and money buying in earlier that limited the supply of used machines. Video games really hurt the pinball industry. Now great video games can be down loaded. There is a high basic cost to building new machines. So machines became scarce, I have a bank of 14 machines mostly purchased 2000 to 2008. I image to replace them would easily cost me more than 100K. I've tried virtual machines and they really suck compared to the real thing.

    I would have TWILIGHT ZONE in my top five.

  • @covercalls88
    @covercalls88 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My top five are Medieval Madness, Indiana Jones, Twilight Zone, Theatre of Magic, and Cactus Canyon. I was lucky enough to add two of these to my pinball bank Indiana Jones for $1400 and Twilight Zone for $1000, years ago before the prices shot up beyond belief. I feel a little bummed I did not pick up a MM in good condition for $2600 when I had a chance, instead I bought Star Wars (Data East) with a Darth Vader topper for $1000, a good game but not at MM level. Other games in my pinball bank that are good ones are No Fear, Demolition Man, Taxi, Star Wars, Tales from the Crypt, and Space Shuttle. My advice to potential pinball machine buyers are to a machine you really want to play (That's obvious), and take care of it as you would any investment.

    • @wigglesarcade8261
      @wigglesarcade8261  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish I would have got into it sooner. Even some of the crappier Gottlieb and Data East tables are now going for 2-3k. It's truly become a rich person's hobby. Thank goodness for video pinball and an abundance of arcades in my area I guess.

      @@wigglesarcade8261 It is just the way life goes, Even now think of all valuable toys we stomped on, blew up with our cherry bombs, and destroyed with our BB guns, what they could be worth now. Image this, in my late teen, my brother and I owned a very nice original 1969 Z/28 Camaro, we bought used for $2000 in 1971, conservatively now worth $80,000. For me playing virtual pinball is not the same and really kind of sucked, I guess because I have a bank of 14 machines. I tried virtual at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, 30 games worth. I guess it is OK if there is not much else. A little hard for me as I grew up playing musical instruments the vibration of the strings or pressure of the keys, driving high performance cars on the road, or blasting down the dirt road on my motorcycle.

    UGH this is why I have turned my back on the merits of steam / virtual console type systems.... Like what just happened to OWNING a game and you always have those games... Sega Channel was cool and we wished for it back again but then remembered how it can be taken away... I have Gottlieb and Williams collection on Wii and.. the physics are actually pretty impressive and makes for good practice though the resolution isnt great ( on closeups though it looks like they used pre-rendered backgrounds so its actually 100% photo-realistic) and overall I definitely enjoy turning this on every holiday season to get my pinball fix... just the sounds alone are worth it... although Funhouse gives me seizures with that distracting strobe. So I was looking at advanced options ( like PC ) ... I knew there was something about Steam I was starting to hate... like how you go about playing GTA now.. like its all server based... Anyway another example of this is on 3DS ( now out of production ) they are ending Eshop support in January ( or at least credit card support in Japan so maybe you can use gift cards for a bit? ) but I'm JUST NOW discovering there were all of these NES / Genesis games they converted to 3D ! and they look absolutely stunning!... the 16 bit games look better than any CRT ( pro CCTV even ) I have ever seen... And like this is it... if you want to see these games ever thats it... I've had my 3DS for 10 years and its something that gets intermittent use so before you know it YEARS go by ... unlike the NES or any cart system where you OWN the games and they are just there at anytime for you.. or even on ebay or a flea market... so I'm not longer really into the concept of steam as I thought i was when it was about space saving from CD roms ( and I'm one who loves to keep my boxes )... That sucks! ugh. I would like to get my hands on a real life Class of 1812 though... those I've seen for like $1800 so there are some cult classics that aren't funhouse ( I do like funhouse but the 90% ramp play gets very tiresome.. I think it's a bit overrated... its great but still somehow overrated as fun as it is to hit rudy.. put him to sleep.. .etc... ) sometimes I just like classic pot/jet bumpers and drop targets)

It also helps to know people with machines in case they want to sell; having a good working relationship with them can definitely translate to 50%+ off what you'd normally pay. There can be some good deals out there Craig's lists, hard to find, but some of these can have some serious issues. Ten years I did manage to score a Twilight Zone machine for $1000. Yes it did have issues, dirty field, worn out rubber, short legs taken from a Mario machine put on it and sloppy/weak flippers. I rebuilt the flippers, replace all of the rubber, applied a good helping of elbow grease, and used the legs off a Sterns Meteor with had a bad board, 2/10 backglass and cabinet I parted out.

    oh yeah, and alot of these people have valid points.. a perfect, re-done, completely restored top end machine like medival madness or whitewater can cost 13,999.00 at a top store, but i got mine with a crease in the topper art, some holes and cracks in some of the art on the playfield, a kinda worn playfield but good, all re-done led lights, works and plays great, for 7500.00 ... a machine that completely restored can be seen at 13,999.00. so, you can get them cheaper. if you take a class or can follow youtube video instructions, you can fix and rebuild machines. you can get broken down ones for 1,500-2,000 and then buy pieces on ebay or pinside, trade for stuff, etc. if your passionate, you can make it happen.

I think it had a motion sensor because The Knight would taunt passerby *”GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!”* It actually scared younger kids & took my money.

    Hey Wiggles, this video got my wife and i on a pinball kick lol. I downloaded the PinballFX3 arcade on Ps4 and it includes all the classic Bally/Williams tables. The notable exclusions are Scared Stiff, Addams Family, and Centaur. Hopefully you try this new program out. It was released this year and is created by Zen Studios. We all want your input on this game! 👍

    I own a real Whitewater machine, and its my favorite. i started playing it when it was first released on a brand new table at a pizza hut that i was a delivery driver for. for every address you delivered to, you got .50 compensation from pizza hut for gas and upkeep on your car. i think this was why they bought the pinball machine... to get that money back. because while you waited for your next delivery, if you were done making boxes, etc., you could play pinball, and if you got off work before they closed? pinball. this was the first pinball i ever got into, and it has remained my favorite, so i bought one. since then, i have gotten a german made Sharpin virtual table that hooks up to my nintendo switch, and has most of the best 90's and 80's bally/williams tables on zenfx3 for nintendo switch. which brings me to my second favorite, medival madness, which i started playing right when it came out. and is on the switch. i recently just ordered a 7,990.00 vp ultra machine with custom elvira graphics (ive met her several times and have pics and autographs and grew up with her tv show) and it has 390 tables on it, so that will be great. my third favorite is monster bash, 4th Circus Voltaire, and 5th, Theater of Magic. other favorite tables are revenge from mars, attack from mars, elvira scared stiff, elvira party monsters, Addams Family, twilight zone, nba fastbreak, world championship soccer, indiana jones, the shadow, rocky and bullwinkle, star wars (data east), Star Trek Next Generation, Fish Tales, Champion Pub.

      I am glad a virtual worked out for you. I tried a full size stand up virtual machine at the Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. 30 games worth and it kinda sucked. I guess after more that 50 years of pulling right and left, giving that little shove at the right time, feeling the flippers work, the thump of the ball bouncing off the pops and targets, the feel was not there. Seeing the field and ball looking correct at all angles, the visuals were not there. I guess by the time they can truly make a full size virtual machine look and feel like the real thing I will already be dead. Anyway I hope they keep trying.

    Like your top five, some great tables. In no particular order mine are Kiss (the original table), Kiss (second generation table and yes I’m a fan) Attack from Mars , space shuttle, theatre of magic. I own kiss (the original table) theatre of magic and space shuttle. Missed out on the other two, attack from Mars original is way to much money and I missed the re-release, kiss (second generation sold out before I could buy one) I hope you get to have one or more your favourite tables in your house at some point. And Pinball arcade is a great way to play tables you might like to own too, it’s as close to real game play without the real table as you’ll get, I feel.

      Kiss (original) is very good, I considered adding one to my pinball bank. 14 years ago, I was at a video game auction and had the choice between a Kiss machine for $1100 or a Indiana Jones for $1400. I went for Indy, a better choice for me. I have a Williams Space Shuttle too, a great game of the 1970's. I got mine with a worn playfield, a few minor electrical issues, and was left out in the sun for a hour by the previous owner so some of plastic got a little warped, the cabinet and back glass are 9/10, picked it up for $120. Theater of Magic a great game, one I would added to my bank if it wasn't at the time I had picked up the Twilight Zone. Attack from Mars another but very good one, I considered it too, but picked up a package of both Star Wars and Jurassic Park for $1800. Never enough time or money. I noticed the prices for the original releases are often higher than a new or re-release.

      Nice collection, I’m currently looking to add the newer kiss pinball, one of the three versions, to complete the kiss pair. All the best to you, enjoy your table time.

    I've been playing Pinball for almost 50 years. Most of my favorites have been Williams tables. The only Bally table that would make my list of favorites would be the old EM game "Fireball", I believe it's the first Multiball game. The rest would be Williams tables like "Firepower", "High Speed", "Jungle Lord" and "Funhouse". When I can find them some of the new Stern tables are not half bad. Also, Zen Pinball made a version of their game Pinball FX2 for Playstation VR, it's the closest thing to the real thing there is. Some great tables on there too if you happen to have a PSVR. Good video!

      I agree Williams in general made better games, especially in the 1990. I own mostly Williams. I've been playing for over 50 years and didn't care for the shorter flippers used in the older machines. If you are ever in Las Vegas try the Pinball Hall of Fame, at least when they suck up your quarters you won't feel too bad about it. That is where tired my first full size stand up machine, after 30 games, that virtual machine did not do it for me. I hope they keep trying.
