So many FREE videos I taught my self from videos, started in February 2024 , spent hundreds of hours and now made All of the Harry Potter characters And Peanuts gang with free patterns with minimal mistakes! But my first small projects had many mistakes but the granddaughters didn't care. I've made 8 Hello Kitty characters too. YARN Under for less holes when stuffing. Use Wire in legs and arms to pose them and use popscicle sticks internally to hold up heads!
Regarding stuffing. I used to make handmade dolls. I actually use the rolled up quilt batting that you can get at Walmart. It’s a game changer when it comes to stuffing soft toys or Amigurumi. Because it’s denser the stuffing holds its shape far better. You can use a stuffing tool like the end of a pencil or a chopstick. If you try and stuff something with ordinary stuffing you’ll see it’s light and fluffy and difficult to get the good shape. Just rip off a piece of the batting. Rip it into smaller pieces and stuff away. Give it a try. I love it and won’t use anything else . p.s if you’ve ever needle felted before you find that you can also use this. It saves on using wool right the way through your project.
What a great tip! Thank you so much for sharing it! I don't have Walmart here, but I will definitely keep an eye on this material in similar stores. I tried needle felting to help with stuffing too, it is a great technique indeed! I am just no patient enough 🤣 Many thanks for your message, my dear 😘
Funny, you're not old, I'm sure I'm much older than you. It's not that there were no tutorials at all, there were no tutorials in English. Most of them were translated from Russian. The crocheting is most popular in Russia, and former soviet union countries, which I'm from 33 years ago. And I learned to crochet at school there at the age of 7 at handiwork classes. Then later this idea of making mini dolls came from Japan. Crocheting is every old art. Now I want to crochet "funko pop" dolls, and your videos are very helpful in this. There are no others like it , I checked
Absolutely! Crochet is very old, indeed! And it is also popular in my country for ages. What I mean is exactly what you said: there weren't many tutorials about amigurumi in English 10 years ago, and in my mother language (Portuguese), it was almost impossible to find. It is good that nowadays people who want to start have so many good materials available! And you are a lucky girl to have had the opportunity to learn crochet at school, it's amazing! I am super happy that you like my channel 😍
First I love your accent. Secondly, I have been crocheting Amigurumi for years now bu I always look up tips. Especially since I am old too! There is always something that you can learn. Thank you for your video. I enjoyed it and subscribed so I can learn more
Cotton yarn was quite unforgiving for me when i first started. I've gotten a lot better with it but as a beginner it was difficult to use since it's so stiff.
Thank you so much for your amigurumi tips. I make amigurumi a lot and these helped. I was wondering if you could do a video about using eyelash yarn in amigurumi, if you have any tips for using it? Thank you.
Hey dear! Thanks so much for your message, I am flattered you like my videos! Do you mean the use of fake eyelashes that are applied in the dolls, or embroidering one?
@@Crocheniacs You're welcome. I had meant what's called eyelash yarn or fun yarn. It's very fluffy and hard to see the stitches. If you look up eyelash yarn you'll see what I mean. I just meant if you had any tips on using it in amigurumi.
@@StephiesCrochetCorner Ohhh I am sorry it took me a while to understand 😅. I googled it and now I know what you mean with the yarn. I didn’t know this word in English, and in Portuguese, we don’t have a specific word for this yarn. Always learning, right? I don’t like this type of yarn to crochet and entire amigurumi. I tried it once, and it was soooo hard to see the stitches, I gave up on the project. But using it for small details in the dolls can be fun. Another interesting possibility is to create the hair. Depending on the yarn, it creates a nice effect to use that way.
Enjoyed your tips. Nicely presented. When I started to crochet I did all these mistakes that you mentioned! But then I kept going finally perfecting myself. Now I am volunteering to teach crochet in our community center, young girls want to crochet little figures to hang on their school bags. I have never done these figures but watching your video I can do it now. The funniest thing is I am a left handed person, it gets a little difficult for them to copy I notice. Any advice on this would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. Also the figures they bring are very tiny, can you show how to do the tiniest ones, a cat or bunny. S
Hey, dear! I am glad you like my tips! Thanks so much for your support. I am planning to include lots of tutorials here on the channel, so I am sure they will be very useful for you. But regarding being left-handed, this one is hard for me to help you because I am right-handed. I tried crocheting with my left hand just to help others, but I could not even grab a crochet hook 🤣
My very first crochet was an amigurimi pattern: grim reaper. The WHOLE thing is black. It. Was. So. Hard!! But it came out lovely and led to 3 commissions for the same.
@@Crocheniacs I was in tears by the end of it. Prior crochet experience was a single granny square. Just the one. Hubs is obsessed with the Grim Reaper so I seized the day and just went for it for his Father’s Day gift. What should have worked up quickly took 30 hours. But I fell in love with amigurimi and learned a lot “on the job” as they say.
so i recently got into amigurumi because of a friend. still have not finished my 1st but working on it. Got one of them kits with videos. does that count as a class?

Black yarn, just get a neck light. Works like a charm
Yeah! I don’t have one! Still have to buy it 😍

@Crocheniacs Lol. It's okay. Yes it sure is difficult to work with.
