    Excellent review. I'm gonna be in the market soon for a new wheel/pedals/shifter/stand. I don't think I'm going to go with something at this level, since I'm eventually getting a full motion rig, I don't want to spend almost $1K for a stand/rig now, just to spend $3000 in a couple years. That said, my brother is going to be upgrading to something of about this level, and this is a great way to introduce him to the product, he told me he wanted a Next Level rig.
    Backstory aside, this review was well thought out, I think you touched on the questions I would have had about this rig. Great that you were able to improve lap times and consistency, it kills me not being consistent with my lap times.

    Subscribed, good to hear and see a decent Aussie review. I have my GTTrack on backorder expecting it in mid September. In the meantime I ordered a buttkicker gamer 2 that should arrive on Monday. Have only been sim racing for about 8 months and am currently downloading AMS 2 after watching your review. My current sim gear includes Thrustmaster TX Leather edition with TPA pedals and the Thrustmaster Shifter. This has been upgraded to Fanatec CSL Elite with the Clubsport V3 Pedals mounted to an Ebay special race stand and using a swivel office chair. I expect my consistency to improve a lot when the GTTrack arrives. BTW thinking of All you Mexicans hope you get out and about soon. Colin from SA.

    great to see you back. cant wait for more content. bought my g920 just before xmas and im really pleased with how it feels. i did buy a flappy pedal mod for it which works great. going to buy the spring mod next for the brake pedal. my question is are you that comfy in you seat with your thighs so far off the seat? a comfy rig is probably the next thing to buy but im unsure about what driving position is best.

    Ermin, thank you for the interesting review. I will make sure to find and try the RF2 tracks you showed in this video. I am a bit puzzeled by your critisism on the flex of the steering and pedal plates on the one hand, and your positive conclusion in the end of the rig. Is the flex really limited in the sense that you will not notice it while driving and that it will not hamper your performance?

    Re: column in column. The other option is a tall column which they have on I believe is on the GT Elite Lite, and reviewers complain that though more rigid for the wheel, you sacrifice the tops of the columns in view in front of your screen(s). Unless you get a custom height column you have to sacrifice something.
    Very nice review, thanks.

    Great review as always Ermz. I'm thinking about getting one of these to replace my NL GT-Lite as I'm about to upgrade from a T300RS to a Fanatec CSL DD Pro or Logitech GT Pro for my PS5. I just have one question - I know the rig is not foldable or anything but when it's on it's castors is it easy to push out of the way? I only need to move it about 1 meter to the side when I'm done playing but if it's too heavy or really only designed to sit in a static location it's not the one for me. I just looked at the Sim-Lab GT1 Evo but it doesn't seem movable in any way. Can you (or anyone else) recommend an affordable AU$1000 or less) rig that will work with an 8-11nm rig, medium load cell pedals and that can be moved fairly easily?

    Name of this workshop track and modification, seems hard to find? Nice review, I am deciding between this or the GT Omega ART, do you have any experience with that one as well and which one do you recommend? The ART is quite a bit cheaper which is the strongest point and maybe the better option when starting out to find out if I even like it as much as I think I will.

    Good review, and this seems like a decent rig, but is massively overpriced when compared to the Sim-Lab GT1-Evo. £700 for this compared to under £400 for the GT1-Evo. Although it doesn't come with a seat, it would allow you to buy one that if you went up to the price point of the NLR GT Track, be much better than what you get with this product. I'm also sure you wouldn't get the flex you described in this rig in the GT1-Evo.

    Nice rig, but I can’t help but feel the Sim Lab GT1 Evo is a better option for the price. No flex in the pedal deck and so many options to customize with the 80/20 profile. I bought the rig, screen mount, shifter mount and NRG bucket seat (including shipping to the US) for around the same price as the Next Level rig...maybe a bit cheaper. Hi Ermin.
    I know this review is a few years old now, and you are not as much into simracing as perhaps you once were, but ...
    I've a new Logitech G Pro, and love it, but my old NLR GT Lite rig flexes too much. I am a little concerned that the physical length of the G Pro wheelbase will overhang the horizontal baseplate of this rig. Mind, you have a DD1, and that is LONG!
    I'm really happy with NLR products, but can you tell me what your long-term ownership impressions may be? I'm in Melbourne, too, by the way!

    17:32 Two bolts!?!? I know it's two years old but this may help someone else out, *you should have 4 bolts securing your wheel plate in the post.* Two on both sides. My plate has absolutely 0 wobble from the within the post/stand area. The only part on my rig that flexes is the pedal plate and it's minor as I don't have load cells yet. That'll be a simple DIY fix though.

    I think this rig is a perfectly fine selection for gear that is lower to midrange. Meaning belt driven wheel base, and pedal set that is not more demanding than, let's say a T3PA set. ONce you go with a direct drive wheel and high performance pedals, a profile rig is needed for stability. Also, a profile rig gives so many more options for setup and layout.
    Not knocking this set up at all, i just think better choices exist, for very similar money.
    Thanks for the review, and I hope you get great use out of it! Enjoy!

      I disagree with you @Ed Berger, I have this rig and it works perfectly fine with no detectable flex during use using my Simucube Pro and Heusinkveld Sprints. Using a high amount of force on the brake and watching closely for flex, you will see a little on the far end of the plate, but it's absolutely fine in practice. If you're in the habit of running 100% force on your wheel base and 100kg on a high end load cell, sure, you may have more flex than you like but if that's your game then you're not looking for a rig like this in the first place, because you're probably an F1 driver.

    • @vatch07075
      @vatch07075 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vincentsantucci2478 I am not sure if you watched the same video, but Ermin actually shows all the movement in the wheel base assembly, and admits to flex on the pedal plate. I used this rig with a DD1 and V3s and noticed flex, and wound up buying a Sim Labs GT1 Evo. Zero flex. So yea... unless you are a no FFB racer, and have a magic pedal plate, I have to disagree with you as well.

  • @adriangarnham6084
    @adriangarnham6084 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you have both bolts on either side holding the wheel stand legs into the main frame? I've the same rig and can't get the movement you show even when lifting the whole rig by the wheel plate, theres 2 bolts each side about an inch apart if they are both done up tight there shouldn't be any rocking. Rest of the review was fair. The seat back is a bit fleixble and even after 6 months its still not really comfortable but has worn in a bit. My biggest gripe wouldd be with the instructions, first rig I've assambled and it certainly went together well but after assembly mounting the wheel to the wheel plate was difficult and bolting the pedals on solo simply not possible with the pedal plate mounted in the rig. Both the wheel and pedals need to be mounted to the plates first then bolted to the rig imo.

    I would highly suggest anyone in the market to NOT buy this sort of product for the current listed price as stated in this video. Ermin if you read this, i am happy that you have got yourself some sponsorship and i find your comments/criticism at the end (hate to say this but it also seemed strategically placed) insightful and true however in this 'review' you flat out lie in saying that 8020 rigs are a more expensive option when there are many aluminium profile vendors that people in your comments have pointed out that are in fact cheaper than this rig and offer greater stability, functionality and versatility as your rig grows. I would hope you will redact your statement and present a fair and balanced amendment of buyers options rather than try and move units for an endorser by misleading your audience.

      There is a factor that's often overlooked in these cases when accounting for price. When the lockdown first began, I reached out to SimLab in the hopes of getting the privilege of paying (full price) for a P1X. I waited weeks for stock, which they impromptu set to go on sale at midnight here in Australia, while I was asleep. The units sold out immediately. After repeatedly asking for a chance to be put on a list so I could actually get a unit because I had waited for weeks and just wanted the opportunity to buy, I ended up ghosted.
      When I realized it was a non-starter, I contacted Next Level Racing. Not only did they immediately respond to me, but they also saw the value in the (at the time, very small) channel and hooked me up. From my vantage, both from running this channel, and conversely operating in their position, hiring influencers to promote products for my company, I understood the value in forming and maintaining relationships. In fact, this matters far more than much of the minutia that limits the average consumer's conceptualization of value. A product can be as amazing as you can imagine, but if the supply chains or customer support don't exist to get it to people, or support their continued use of it, the product ends up effectively valueless. NLR, conversely, understand the value of listening to their customers & establishing long-term relationships.
      If I were to redact this video, I would probably lean more on the value of NLR's active accommodation during a difficult period, where the 'superior' 8020 vendors wouldn't even open communications channels. Further, I never lied in regards to the operational limitations of this cockpit, nor to the existence or validity of other options. As always, the implication that I'm operating under some nefarious premise while making these videos at a financial loss continues to be appreciated.

      @@Ermz I appreciate the detailed reply Ermin and thank you for taking the time. I understand your frustrations in not being able to get a hold of Simlab, i too got ghosted by whoever monitors their contact channels, so I elected to reach out to TrakRacer who i got a hold of on the phone who were open and honest about their back order situation and supply issues at the time. Given that i could find no local distributors of 8020 profile (in WA) and building on my own would cost about the same as the TR80 once it was shipped from Melbourne or directly from suppliers in China i elected to order and bastardise their design instead. I had heard the online rabble from disgruntled buyers from TR but I ordered in June and approximately 2 months later it came perfectly packaged and again for well less than $1099. If I'm reading your comments correctly, you wanted to skip the line (while still paying full retail) during the back order to work with a company in exchange for your review, as someone that was having the same back order wait, I'm glad that they chose to ignore you.
      Let's dig into those statements further, while i understand the want to align yourself with companies who see value in your influence (and i agree there is value there) i think most would agree that doing such a thing is a potential slippery slope when you use such influence to review a product that costs over $1000 of somebody's hard-earned while simultaneously stating that said product's direct competition is 'premier, top tier profile rigs' that cost more (as you say in your remarks starting at 14.58 in this video) when in fact there are 8020 rigs on the market that cost less than this product.
      While again, i understand where i see where you may have some salt regarding the various 8020 vendors not replying to you i believed that is because those companies know that those products pretty much speak for themselves. They get plenty of free advertising from all the other influencers and people proud of their rigs in the community. I agree that the product is not bad at all, infact i was pretty impressed by its showing. However we both know that NRL have an uphill battle telling the average consumer that their units are better than even the most basic 8020 rig kit if said customer bothers to do their own research and yet they charge a premium price for their product. As such they have to rely on whatever they can to shift more product, whether that be influences like yourself, having great search engine optimisation and ad intergration and trying their best to get their name out there (aka the Playseat model). I completely agree with your comments that if this rig was 2/3s of the price, it would find itself in a fantastic segment of the market but i maintain that because it doesn't the opinion voiced in this video comes off as highly biased.
      I enjoy your content mate and I wouldnt care to invest time in calling you out if i didnt give a shit. As i said, given your fair and balanced criticisms of the product i do not believe for a second that this review was bought and paid for but every endorsement of course comes with its own talking points and the fact that you fail to mention the cheaper while simultaneously better products out there or to tell your audience to at least do their own research and due diligence, while understandable from NLR's standpoint, comes off as disingenuine on your part. While it is not your implicit responsibility to save idiots from themselves and while I dont believe you are acting with nefarious intent at all, your undisclosed bias and the reasoning you have aligned with NLR that is clear to see in your reply only goes to prove my point that you pivoted and edited your video review in a certain way to help a company that scratched your back and most definitely makes me trust your opinion (and thus your influence) less.

    • @Ermz
      @Ermz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Out of curiosity, how do you feel about reviews such as the one from SimRacing604 - where one of the talking points was the complete lack of flex in this cockpit? Surely that'd be off-the-charts for you?
      One of the distributors tried to convince me of this very same thing when looking into purchasing, despite myself pointing to several videos of it flexing in use. They in fact told me they replaced their former 8020 demo rig with the GTtrack, and preferred it. So if your barometer for lying and disingenuity is met by my video, then surely on a comparative level this industry must by and large be occupied by sociopaths?

    • @iNeedaBeeer
      @iNeedaBeeer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ermz ok, i guess you know that i have raised some good points and that is why you're deflecting.
      Honestly i dont watch his content. The one or two videos i have stumbled across thanks to the algorithm i found to be pretty lacking in multiple facets. Cant say the same for you, hence the criticism. I would hope somebody called him out also.
      Did that distributor also sell 8020 rigs? If not then you have your answer. Either way he's a saleman and not to be trusted. Are you?
      Im sorry if you feel im attacking you, as i keep saying i do greatly enjoy your content. I see a guy trying to make a balanced and fair review while keeping good standing with said company. Alot of your opinion was on point, wholly factual and the video was well constructed and as entertaining as ever. Because of my enjoyment of your content i hold you to a higher standard. At the end of the day, im happy to agree to disagree but its my hope that you take some of what ive said on board in the future as again, i think we both think ive raised some good points.

    • @Ermz
      @Ermz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some interesting argumentative techniques there. I'm completely down with the sentiment of 'agreeing to disagree', though in a genuine sense - not in the one where one of us tries to covertly pass off a small 'victory' by wording the closing statement: 'i think we both think ive raised some good points.' rather than the congregant proposition of 'I think we've both raised some good points'. The way you've worded much of this would make a good case study in disingenuous argumentative techniques, and while I don't understand why, given your purported enjoyment of this channel, to be honest I mostly just want to set the record straight for the viewers. I always circle back to Elon's statement that: 'the cortex is in service to the limbic system - not the other way around.'. You can somehow always see this in action, no matter how dignified a conversation may be.
      You're welcome to frame this as you like for yourself, but there are several times where you mischaracterised my position, and that should be clarified for any readers:
      "If I'm reading your comments correctly, you wanted to skip the line (while still paying full retail) during the back order to work with a company in exchange for your review"
      No. I wanted to be put into a line - that's all. I asked for the opportunity to wait along with everyone else, but in a queue, rather than continually refreshing their site in the dead of night at an undisclosed time to snipe a purchase. I would hope that you, as well as I, have better things to do with our time, and deserve a modicum more respect as consumers.
      "i find your comments/criticism at the end (hate to say this but it also seemed strategically placed) insightful and true however in this 'review' you flat out lie in saying that 8020 rigs are a more expensive option"
      I'm unsure whether you reframed my statement simply for the purposes of taking issue with it, or whether you genuinely misunderstood, but what I said was: 'while we're not in the price range of the premiere/toptier aluminium profile rigs, we are getting quite close'. To the best of my understanding, this is true. The P1X was going to cost more to get down here. I never said there weren't lower tier profile rigs available.
      "...rather than try and move units for an endorser by misleading your audience."
      vs
      "As i said, given your fair and balanced criticisms of the product i do not believe for a second that this review was bought and paid for"
      Self-contradictions often speak for themselves, but it should go without saying that I was not attempting to mislead anyone here.
      'while simultaneously stating that said product's direct competition is 'premier, top tier profile rigs''
      I never said this.
      "While again, i understand where i see where you may have some salt regarding the various 8020"
      There is no salt. I'm simply explaining why I'm featuring the GTtrack rather than one of the 8020s.
      "I completely agree with your comments that if this rig was 2/3s of the price, it would find itself in a fantastic segment of the market but i maintain that because it doesn't the opinion voiced in this video comes off as highly biased."
      The reasoning here doesn't follow. Is my review 'fair and balanced' or 'highly biased'? That keeps going back and forth. Ultimately it's up to the viewer to decide for themselves, but statements like this don't make a particularly compelling case.
      "that you fail to mention the cheaper while simultaneously better products out there"
      I've not used any of these supposed products. I *have* used the GTtrack - because the company had the presence of mind to supply it. We keep going back to this, but I was actively hindered from purchasing some of these other products you speak of, which renders their value null to me as a consumer & reviewer. If they were supplied, I'd have reviewed them in exactly the same fashion I did this one.
      'your undisclosed bias'
      0:39 . I feel like you're just trolling at this point, though I suppose it's proving successful.
      "and the reasoning you have aligned with NLR that is clear"
      Yes, and that reasoning is that they had the presence of mind to supply a cockpit during a time where nobody else would, so I gave it an honest and unbiased review because it was actually in my possession, much as I would've done with any manufacturer's product. The point you choose to continue glossing over is that a manufacturer's desire to assist and communicate factors into its products' value proposition.
      "Honestly i dont watch his content. The one or two videos i have stumbled across thanks to the algorithm i found to be pretty lacking in multiple facets"
      You should check out more of his content. Mike runs a great channel, and seems like a great guy.
      "i think we both think ive raised some good points."
      I had to re-read this about a half dozen times for it to make sense. To be frank: You're better than this, and so am I. There's no need to insult both of our intelligence with some covert jab to end the interaction. It reeks of insecurity, and just isn't necessary.
      Yikes, that turned into a big one. I really wanted to dodge some annoying work tonight, and you helped me do that so I really appreciate it! I don't often respond to these, for obvious reasons, but once in a while it's good to allow yourself the indulgence - as self-defeating as the endeavor can feel. Ultimately you're free to take whatever issue you want with the video - that's entirely your purview. However, I would appreciate if you would stop mischaracterizing my words, and strawman arguing them to push some contention that I'm being disingenuous (or not - it's hard to tell because you backflip on this a lot). I already get so many of the more volatile members of the sim racing community doing this, it would be nice not to have the cogent ones doing it as well. Hope that TR80 is treating you well; have a good night!

    This review is total rubbish, if you build this rig properly, theres no flex at all anywhere. I have owned mine for about 6 months now and use pretty much every day. I can clearly see in video, this "expert" had the pedal plate attached incorrectly, the guide for building is very clear!!, also the bolts need tightening on the wheel plate height adjuster, no flex, no creaking noises and this was a bad review of a good product and the people that watched it were mis informed
