    some tips, have someone inside the greenhouse with a pipe(with a rag or glove on the end) to poke the plastic when it sticks. If you are installing second layer for double polly put a fan or big leaf blower between the two layers as you pull it will make your life 1000X easier.

    Yes, this year I've put a chicken coop (from Texas, a kit) in my backyard and next week my greenhouse will be here. It is coming from Arkansas and it is pre-built. Pretty excited. I'm creating a Potager in my backyard. I'm going to have six chickens ... I'm in a suburb in Kentucky. Love learning from you all. Gary and Marge's granddaughter is lovely and so sweet. Nice way for Paige to celebrate her birthday with grandparents and helping... They have such nice things in the shop!

    Great video Doug and Stacy!🥰. I love how y’all all work together to achieve your goals!😁. I’ve been telling people to get greenhouses for many different reasons! To protect from the aerosol spraying going on and also many areas in the country are/will experience drought and therefore causing unwanted pests! And to also get there own water catchment system! It is Wonderful seeing you Gary and Marge!🥰. And your Granddaughter is a helper for sure!😁🥰. I love when one generation can teach and pass down Helpful Survival Skills and Good Morals!🥰. Many continued Blessings to y’all and all your followers!💖

    Everyone needs a greenhouse.
    The bigger the better.
    Even a hoophouse or small greenhouse, you should do it.
    Wiggle wire to help keep plastic tight, longer lasting.

  • @DunnDifferent
    @DunnDifferent 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I’ve done this a few times. Here in central Oklahoma the constant wind is usually 20-40mph and it makes putting one of these up a bit**. I cut the plastic about 50% wider than I need and then anchor it on one side before pulling it over so that the wind doesn’t make it a sail. I use the excess plastic to wrap some old tires and then fill them with water. With this method I can pull up my 35x25 greenhouse by myself in around a half day.
    I’ve never tried the tennis ball idea but I definitely will next time. Great video!

    We use 2 different plastics for our 30x80 with roll down side. One plastic protects plants from uv so plants do better. We pull 2 up at once. We can also gain 3 years of life of plastic to re tighten plastic. Puts wiggle wire in different spots so it won’t tear.

    Oh, my Friends, Thank uou for the memories!! I was co-owner of a family greenhouse business for 30 years. Not an easy job. We used Stuppy Greenhouses built for snow-belt regions. Wonderful company to work with. Our plastic went to the ground to attach on both sides, we didn't open or raise the sides. So many different types now.
    I have enjoyed watching this today. Thank you for sharing! Blessings from West Virginia! 🌹

      I worked for a greenhouse/stand-off shelter manufacturer for a number of years. Our plastic was sold with a 5 year pro rata warranty and could be expected to last 10 years. Spoke with one customer with his house on a very high wind site whose skin had been up for 11 and it was still ok but was thinking he might have to replace it "before long"; he'd popped in to our office to check on prices. As you say - glass is expensive, lasts a long time but is fragile; plastic ages with UV and WILL have to be replaced, but is easy to patch if punctured - also, in the first year or two will need re-tensioning as summer heat causes stretching to the film, and this can cost too. Also, the plastic was sensitive to various horticultural sprays, specially copper, which could dramatically reduce the lifespan of the film (and tests on failed film could easily reveal the use of said spray/s - meaning no warranty claim). So the customer must weigh the costs and consider preferences (dumping a LOT of plastic every 10 years? Flying stones from mowing tasks?) before construction of the framework.
