By the time I was a middle-schooler in the late 80's, I seem to remember kinda making fun of Trapper Keepers. We had binders that we could either decorate or that had clear plastic covers so we could put drawings or pages from magazines, like of guys, in. We were into skaters and heavy metal. But don't get me wrong, I'm certainly nostalgic now for things like Trapper Keepers.
They’re talking about the TI-83 graphing calculator that was $150. It didn’t matter what year or decade it was, it was always $150 it seemed. I refused to ask my parents for one until I learned the hard way that we needed it, and had to retake geometry in summer school. The problem was that the school district was also home to Texas Instruments, the company that made the stupid expensive calculator we all were required to have. Seemed suspicious to me. Now the district gives them all iPads, so hopefully that is no longer needed.
Watching this clip, and then seeing my boy from MTV: Total Request Live on the panel 😮 you know, when they actually played music videos…. And Tyrese was a VJ, and then came out with Sweet Lady, and now he’s all Fast & Furious…. 😢 we getting more vintage everyday 😎
I remember my trapper keeper. I used to have Chinese" as my first class during high school, I'd draw a few words on it. Funny thing is I once went to an authentic Chinese restaurant with a few of my classmates and one of the workers. Read my writing and corrected me. I wasn't upset since they bumped my GPA from a C" to an A- 😅
For some reason, my elementary school had real beef with trapper keepers. I remember the supply list that was sent out before I started 2nd grade: *ABSOLUTELY NO TRAPPER KEEPERS!* For years, I didn't even know what a Trapper Keeper was.
Well, supplies have been quite generic and sad-looking for years, so I'm all for going "old school" again! Everybody needs a little bit of joy here and there.
Wondering if someone has demonstrated the folding and the passing of the notes we used to write each other back in the day. Remember those? They were so fun. :-)
I actually still have my green Trapper Keeper from 10th grade in 87'; along with some of the short stories I wrote in English class (replete with the teacher's red inked corrections 😅), and my doodles. It's seen better days for sure, but the coating is still intact and two of the three binders still work. Lol
Gen-x and I still have my blue Caboodles! I also have a thick spiral-bound notebook where I keep important information. Otherwise, I wouldn't even know anyone's phone number in a temporary power outage.
Oh my God I have been waiting for trapper keepers to come back! Gen X vibes all around! They better have the multicolored pens all in one pen that click down!
I had a Lisa Frank zipped binder. I think at this point Trapper Keeper's were actually not allowed at our school. I think the velcro was annoying the teachers. So mine had a zipper. Unfortunately, it was the last one on the shelf.... so it had big lips 💋and lipstick💄on it. And as a 5th grader, I got teased for that. And then I didn't realize that my pencil case said Flirt... I thought it said First. Oh well, it was bright and colorful and I had beautiful Lisa Frank folders inside. Come full circle, I found a Lisa Frank activity case that is like a Trapper Keeper, but it also has handles. My daughter LOVES it. 🦄
My mom bought me a Trapper Keeper for the nostalgia. I have no idea what to do with it since I am no longer in school. Who knows I might find a use for it one day.
"Everything old is new again" Yeah, in my case it's always been like 5+ years too late. It would have been nice if being into everything 80s-00s aesthetics & stationary was the big popular thing in like 2017 when I was big into all that and in school.
Do any of you have any idea how dystopian it is that we have to be excited to be able to acquire items from the past? Or in this case just inspired by ones from the past? If you can't acquire something you could easily get 20 years ago, that's called moving backwards. We should be prioritizing the continuous availability of items already created over "streamlining" and ever increasing profit margins.
I do not know what school you're talking about. That would allow this. I can not even send my kid with in school with paper and pen or pencil because everything is done on google. And for those that are still using paper, you, the parent, can not see the document or what has gone wrong. His math is. All done on a paper, and I can't see what he's learning or not learning because it's never sent home. At a school meeting I was told I was not entitled to any paperwork that was done in school. And since this school refuses to do homework, I have no idea what he's learning.
Imagine calling school sipplies retro. Paper and pens and pencils and highlighters and calculators are faster, and better than using electronics. And no, I'm not bashing electronics. I know all about. Well, you probably don't if you have an Apple product. My laptop has a ton of Ai fo edit and store documents, etc...
Everything is so technology based these days, so having physical items like notebooks and a pencil just give me the inspiration I need day to day 🤗
My daughter had a trapper keeper . It worked great keeping her papers for school organized
you could use it to store important document.
I loved the Trapper Keeper!
Trapper keepers were actually useful. And Lisa Frank was a classic
god Lisa Frank was so cool lol
I loved my Trapper Keeper! Had it until I moved into my house, it helped so much.

It’s sad to make fun of someone for something such as a binder

Yeah I got one of these in high school and reused every time I needed it including throughout undergrad and grad school classes.
Love this! ✨💖 Caboodles & Lisa Frank girlie forever 😻 Thank you so much 🌎🌈🌏
Loved Lisa Frank stickers as a kid!
@@L.Spencer They were so lovely 🐅🦋🌈🐻❄️🦁✨ I never really got any living in Latin America, but my classmates did, so I'd just draw my own 💕
I still use the large Caboodles cosmetics organizer that I got when I was 14...I'm now 49 and that thing still works perfectly!!!
@@switchboard98Love this ❤️ I know, they seem indestructible 👌🤣 still have mine too ✨
Lisa Frank was everything! 😅 💖

Why would anyone think "it's older so it's cheaper"? Like it's old stock from two seasons ago?
My guess is that cars from the 80s and 90s in great condition are considerably cheaper than a brand new cars today.
So, I actually looked it up some time ago. Texas Instruments has a virtual monopoly on graphing calculators.
I'm a 70s 80s child and had a Trapper Keeper with a Kitty on it and a Holly Hobbie lunch box !
I wish i had kept my purple sparly Caboodle case and pink kitty Trapper Keeper. 😂😊

Bring back scratch and sniff stickers!
Wonderful! Kids today need to know how awesome it was back then. I just feel so bad for kids today. Take the phones away!!!
Brings back a lot of memories

You may be entitled to compensation. 😁
yeah same for my school list it said No trapper keepers. had no idea either what they were.
I still have my purple and pink Caboodles from the late ‘80s and three countries later.
Well, supplies have been quite generic and sad-looking for years, so I'm all for going "old school" again! Everybody needs a little bit of joy here and there.
I’m 30 and I always loved Lisa Frank stuff. It was the original “kawaii” style for me.
Og Kawaii would be tamagotchi art
Yep, make America great again in so many ways! Nostalgia!
Wondering if someone has demonstrated the folding and the passing of the notes we used to write each other back in the day. Remember those? They were so fun. :-)
Memories! I also remember wanting those metal lunch boxes with the thermos inside of it, but because I got school lunch, I never got one.
I LOVED LISA FRANK NOTEBOOKS

Retro is always cool!
we had lisa frank in the 2010s i don’t think they’ve ever left😭

Trapper keeper was my childhood!!
My mom bought me a Trapper Keeper for the nostalgia. I have no idea what to do with it since I am no longer in school. Who knows I might find a use for it one day.
Heck yes! I’m getting one of these!
I ordered a box of multi-point pencils for my office they came yesterday!!😊
I’m a Lisa frank girl. I don’t agree with the owner, but I loooooveeeee the brand.
I find it funny that it's adults buying all of the back to school stuff out for nostalgia vs kids who need it.
Kids do need multi-pocket binders but we got plenty of cheaper alternatives
Fax is still current in businesses. Because it can’t be hacked. It’s normally attached to the giant printer scanner copier
Omg, trapper keepers… I loved them! Shoot, I would buy one now even though I’m a full grown adult. 😂
I had a Trapper Keeper. I still wasn't cool.

Everyone had a Peechee! They’d graffiti all over it lol
The nostalgia just isn’t the same without lisafrank taking a whole aisle. It’s still nice, though.
Next will be the return of gel pens!
But gel pens still famous
@@Malak_Salem So is everything else featured in this video.
I used to have a pen with the furry ball on top like the movie Clueless ❤
@@MizzKittyBichon Oh so you were sarcastic 😅 sorry went over my head totally.
My favorite are those FriXion Erasable Pens made by Pilot. Like Marty McFly said the best stuff really does come from Japan.
Ahh.. just as im in the phase to become oldschool again …time to buy a razr flip phone
Um, cool kids NEVER had a trapper keeper. Also never those dumb erasable pens from paper mate. That’s an incontestable fact.
Southpark flashbacks.
Stop buying expensive school supplies then cry that you can't afford anything 😑 you spent $309 on Amazon and never got a real career
Retro😢
Excuse me, I'm gonna go find my lisa frank trapper keeper.

Why does Miley Cyrus now sound like she smokes 20 packs of cigarettes a day?

I’m just waiting for the early -mid 2000’s trends to come back ❤
This is generation appropriation. Lol
This is capitalism. Everything is a commodity. Even childhood.
